2 Night stay in inverness
Really helpful owners who dealt with my need for early breakfast very efficiently and also checked about my travel arrangements I would definitly stay again nice location in city centre and close to starion
Wonderful Scottish highland hospitality. Delicious hot breakfast! Location of this family run hotel is excellent for restaurants, shopping, enjoyment of walks along the River Ness.
Loved it!
Lovely hotel right in the heart of Inverness. The room has everything you need and was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and the ingredients were high quality - which seems to be a rarity these days! Stayed for two nights and would definitely return.
My time in Inverness
My whole expierance was grest from start to finsh. Staff were nice and friendly and breakfast was excellant including my eggs. Only downside is cleaner coming into my room without me beeing there in person or warning beforehand. Otherwise a good. Stayed overall.
Lovely property and superb host/owner. The only negative comment (,which is true for all Inverness), is the 24/7 screeching seagulls...they never sleep. The inclusive breakfast was fab and so close to the station and dining areas.
Wonderful stay, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast included was delicious.
Definitely recommend
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Ian, our host was very friendly and helpful. The room was basic, but very comfortable. The shower/toilet was clean. The star of the show was the breakfast. DELICIOUS.
A lovely stay from start to finish. Fantastic location. Highly recommended!
Adoramos a nossa experiência no hotel, o Ian foi extremamente cordial e nos deu ótimas dicas! O hotel é limpo e muito bem localizado, o café uma delícia! Amamos nossa experiência!
quaint Scottish hotel
nice quaint family owned hotel. Had a lovely stay!!
This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Scotland. The location is great and we had a totally comfy stay. This is a family run hotel and you can tell. Iain was a great host and he made sure we felt welcomed. He even set us up with a "do it yourself" breakfast on a day we had to leave early for a tour. The room was quiet and comfortable. It's definitely not ultra-modern... and that's one of the things I loved about it. And you can walk anywhere in town from the hotel in just a few minutes.
Very centrally located. Close to shops and riverside walks.
The owners of the property are very kind and sweet. The breakfast is delicious and they will leave you breakfast is you have to go out early to a tour. It is walkable from every area of town and very close to the train and bus station. There is shopping and wonderful restaurants all around. The street that it is on is busy on the weekend and you can hear people shouting and singing late into the night. I fell asleep despite being a pretty light sleeper. The place is older and quirky which is part of the fun. It could use an update the section I stayed in smelled extremely strong of body odor and me and all my belongings smelled of mildew. By the time I left it was starting to bother me. It smells like that when you enter the property as well. I have allergies and sensitivity to smell so that is something to consider.
Very friendly hosts in a location near the train station and many options for dining.
The personal touch. Iain was so helpful.
The guy that greeted me was very hospitable and nice to talk to. He made me feel very welcome and also allowed me to leave my belongings on the premise before checking in and after i checked out, so i wouldn't be carrying them with me everywhere. If traveling to Inverness in future, i would definitely be considering staying in this hotel again. Also, the entire hotel is really well decorated, and has a lot of interesting pictures of Scottish heritage and the different clans which I enjoyed looking at
Comfortable room, pleasant staff, excellent location. Parking is an issue. There is limited one-hour parking on the street for £2, and free overnight. There is a nice inexpensive parking garage about two or three blocks away.
Decent place but a little tired. The bed was small and uncomfortable, but the host was very friendly and the location very good.
The owners/staff were very helpful. We were there fr one night only and we were quite pleased.
This is a family run hotel that met my needs perfectly. It was a very easy walk from the Inverness train station with lots of shopping, restaurants, and sites within walking distance. Leaky Bookstore is very close too! The gentleman who runs the hotel is fantastic. He insisted on carrying my suitcase up the stairs. Service was excellent, and breakfast was lovely. If I visit Inverness again, I will definitely book this hotel again!
Inverness Charming B&B
Loved our stay at the MacDougall Clansman. We were only in Inverness for two nights and this was the perfect location. Walking distance from many shops, pubs, and restaurants. There isn't an elevator and I had large luggage. Iain was really sweet to carry it up the stairs for me. The breakfast each morning was the best we had in all our stay in Scotland. I would stay here again.
This little place is an absolute gem. It is very central and easily walkable from the train station. There are about a million dining and shopping options in the surrounding blocks (make sure you make a dinner reservation Th-Su in the summer)!! Pretty standard amenities in an old building, but what sets them apart is the service. Made to order breakfast in the morning?? Yes please! They were very accommodating with early departures for day tours, having a grab-and-go breakfast selection. They were also very accommodating with allowing us to leave our bags for a while the day we checked out. It is clear that they very much care about their guests’ experiences and are so kind. Would absolutely return.
Very friendly and super helpful!! Great breakfast and a take away snack early in morning was great. Quiet and cozy. Thank you
An absolute delight. Traditional and down to earth. I was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived. Iain went above and beyond and was helpful all along. There are no frills here. If you want a hotel that’s the same in every city then go there. Breakfast is simple but cooked to order and perfect. Rooms are basic but very clean. All I needed in a stay, clean, confortable abs friendly - I will recommend this hotel to others I know who will appreciate the very friendly and down to earth ambience.
Everything was so darn charming! From the proprietor(s), to the excellent breakfast, to the immaculate room, to Inverness itself. The best nights sleep I had in my 2.5 weeks in the UK! Check out nearby Leakey's Bookshop if so inclined.
Very good value for cost.
Perfect, clean hotel in the heart of the dining and music scene in Inverness. Excellent host and excellent breakfast.
WONDERFUL PLACE!
Lucy and Ian are an absolute delight. My train got stuck before Aberdeen due to a road accident, so I gave the hotel a call to let them know I’d be late for check-in hours and to ask what I should do. Lucy gave me easy walking directions from the train station in case I didn’t have them, and then Ian stayed up for me to get there after business hours at 10:45pm! They truly care about their patrons and they make you feel important to them. I’ve been staying all over the UK for the past 2.5 weeks and this place honestly deserves a better star rating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone including my closest family and friends, and that’s really saying something! A definite little gem with wonderful staff.
Staying at the Macdougall Clansman Hotel was probably the highlight of our Scotland trip that my fiancé and I took. We traveled to Glasgow, Edinburgh and finally Inverness where we stayed here. We had the best experience from check in and meeting Ian. He was so accommodating and kind, he truly made our experience exceptional. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious as well. Thank you for having us! I definitely recommend this place! We loved it! Definitely will be back!
Wonderful place, friendly staff, very clean
Although we were in and out touring Inverness, Ian and Lucy we very hospitable and attentive. I would definitely recommend visiting this Hotel to anyone staying in the area.
Lovely hosts and great location!
Everything was smooth from check-in to check-out, the hosts made sure the guests are taken care of. We stayed here during our 3-Day tour around the Highlands. Even though we have to leave the hotel early each morning, they still prepared some breakfast items for us to go with! Thank you Lucy and Ian for providing such great services!
Just a lovely friendly place to stay
Lovely place!
This hotel was an easy walk from the train and bus stations (which are pretty much side-by-side). The front door was locked (COVID) but the desk guy was right there to check me in. He was always on hand and always nice. My room was on the streetfront, but Inverness is quiet and I enjoyed the view. This was a really nice room, with plentiful plugs, good hot water, comfortable beds and a nice breakfast, made to order each day and served in a pleasant dining room. Also, they were willing to give me the same breakfast, but early, on the day I had an early tour start.
Brilliant place, great host, great location.
Amazing host, very clean and tidy and great breakfast. Really appreciated the great advice on where to find a rental car and places to go.
Hospitality at its best
I sensed the hotel would be special as soon as I received an email from the proprietor, offering advance information about the hotel and its location. This first impression was surpassed on arrival with a warm welcome from the proprietor. As tourists, the hotel was perfect but some guests may find the absence of a restaurant, serving lunch and dinner, or a bar, to be limiting. For the regular tourist or guest, the full Scottish breakfast served between 0800 and 0915 will be appreciated. The hotel’s location about ten minutes walk from the train and bus stations will be a bonus as were the many restaurants, even close to the hotel. The next time I visit Inverness, The MacDougall Clansman Hotel will be my hotel of choice.
An ideal one night stop over on the way back to the North East of England from the Orkneys
So Friendly & Helpful
Lovely place to stay in the heart of the city centre. Was cycling the Etap and had made a few additional requests, all of which were accommodated so wonderfully well. Thank you so much.
Good location that feels like home
The hospitality is great! You feel like home! The owner just accepts you as one of his personal guests! Location is great!
Excellent Service
The hotel was really clean and well kept. The atmosphere and vibe during our stay there was very serene, very relaxing. Ian, the host, was very kind and accommodating. We would definitely be staying again!
Property was near the train and bus station.also the price includes a good breakfast
Spacious rooms. Great breakfast. Attentive staff. Would recommend.
The parlor is fantastic with plentiful cushy couches lending a very relaxed & comfortable atmosphere.
Always a great stay!
Friendly helpful staff and central for seeing Inverness
Comfortable accommodation right in the centre of Inverness. Varied choice for breakfast and was served to you piping hot. Friendly staff and nothing was a problem for them.
They contacted me to confirm when I would be checking in. I was checked in by Lucy & graciously shown personally to my room. I had a great sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. The location is great - easy walking distance to train & bus stations. Seems to be a popular choice for families. I would happily stay here again!
High price for old hotel near city center
Good location, VERY old and dated interior, however it was clean (except for the carpeting)
Great stay
Extremely friendly staff, very welcoming and very clean.
Staff was helpful and pleasant. Property felt clean but old and tired.
A Family-Run Gem!
This is a small, family run hotel that has more charm than several chain hotels put together. Iain, the manager, along with Lucy, helped by having breakfast available early when I was leaving for an early morning tour. I had exchanged emails with Iain before the trip about tour choices and he was very helpful. The location is fantastic, too. Close to the bus and train station and also to Leakey's Bookstore. The dining room and lounge area were nicely decorated and very comfortable and inviting. When I return to Inverness, I would most definitely stay here again!
Nice hotel, great service, wonderful breakfast, good location. The front lobby, directly off the street, needs some attention, however, as it looks like a ‘flop house’ lobby....one for a hotel that would rent by the hour or to transients.
Very convenient and close to the train, bus station and downtown.
Very dated rooms. Street lamp 3 feet from our window made it feel like mid day at midnight. Service and owners were lovely.
We loved this property. The staff was attentive and kind, the room large and clean, and the hotel was quiet.
Highly recommended.
First class. Would happily re-book for next trip to Inverness.h
Nice relaxing stay
Very nice small, family-run hotel in the middle of Inverness.
The hotel is a very comfortable, friendly, family run hotel.
Ideal Centrally located hotel
very friendly and helpful check-in service. delicious breakfast. Very clean. unfortunate late-night noise from outside but not the fault of the hotel. Great central point for visiting Inverness and very close to bus terminal. Ideal all round.
Staff and owners are extremely friendly and place is very clean. Great location!
Car parking was a major problem. Street noisy.
A wonderful stay. Our host told his own history with some of the places we planned on visiting, which led to a "scavenger hunt" of sorts for our kids. Also very accommodating for those who needed to leave prior to set breakfast times.
bed a wee bit uncomfortable apart from that enjoyed my stay and would go back
The hotel is in a good location in the old part of town, handy to the centre of the city and shopping area, with two excellent eateries nearby (Black Isle for pizza and craft beer, McGregors for burgers and craft beer). The owners are very helpful and friendly and the included breakfast is excellent. The hotel is full of Scottish charm and of course that means it is not all new and sparkling (and sterile and anonymous...). Rooms are on the small side and there are some little quirks that add to the charm. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you to the family running the Clansman for a lovely stay.
Central Location, Comfortable Stay
We booked 2 rooms for one night, one couple per room. We arrived late and were greeted warmly at the desk before being shown to our rooms. The rooms were some of the first we stayed in that had wardrobes in them to store our bags. Both the bedroom and bathroom had plenty of space. While there was no AC, the temperature outside was decent so we opened a window to let in air and had no problem sleeping. Breakfast the next morning was quick, and we had a small menu to choose from as well as cereals, juices and fruit.
Wonderful stay
My family of 4 stayed here for only one night. The staff was exceptional and very helpful when we needed to have one of my sons seen by a doctor. Breakfast was wonderful! The church yard next door is a must to check out.
Ian was a gracious welcoming host. The hotel was wonderfully clean, charming and well located. Ian helped us with small requests with such kindness. After a long journey and a lovely dinner out (across the street) the quiet of a hotel was very welcome! The full Scottish breakfast and breakfast service was also wonderful! We look forward to staying here again.
The property is unique in style and decor. Old castle style building. Great use of local artifices to make the decor stylist and warm
Great location and tidy functional rooms. Toiletries and soft fluffy towels.
Enjoyed our stay!
Very accommodating staff and they went out of their way to provide an early breakfast for us since we had to leave before breakfast began.
Good downtown location for exploring by foot. Friendly owners/staff. Comfortable clean rooms.
Friendly, traditional B&B, well located for central Inverness.
Great location
Family run and wonderful location. Parking was an issue. Staff VERY kind and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at the MacDougall Clansman hotel. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, steps from Leakey's bookstore, great restaurants and the river nearby, quick walk to parking. It was an incredibly clean and comfortable 2 star property and I would strongly recommend to travelling families.
The hotel is family run by the same family for over 50 years. It is homey and very clean. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed the dated, but perfectly classic mid century decor. The location was great for all the sights we wanted to visit on foot. The walk to the train station was about 5 minutes. It was a great place.
Great Stay!
Great Experience! Arrival late due to train delay. Very welcoming though it was after 9:30pm .. and was gave a very good orientation to the accommodations .. answered all our questions without feeling rushed. Breakfast sounded and looked good, but we were up and out early, so we partook in the quick service which was plentiful and satisfying. The place is approx 390 yrs old .. very clean, safe, and should we ever be in the area again, this place will be our first choice due to cleanness, service, breakfast, price and proximity to restaurants, shopping and 7-min walking distance to the train & bus stations!
Very tight quarters for four in 1 room but very pleasant stay.
Everything was excellent lots of food places for meals the only downfall was that there is limiyed parking spaces near hotel but we were out all day so it wasnt a bother
Great place in the center of the city
Very comfortable. Laundry across the street is incredibly convenient.
Good size room and bathroom. Quiet and goodnight sleep. Near everything.
Comfortable stay in a great location
We stayed at MacDougall Clansman Hotel for a night before beginning a trip around northern Scotland. We appreciated the convenient location, just a short walk from the train station and our rental car pickup, as well as near to the river, grocery store, and good options for dinner. Check-in was friendly and efficient, and the breakfast was tasty.
I loved the uniqueness of this place and its sense of history. It was really comfortable and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Location was perfect, in close proximity to the train and bus station and easy to find.
Excellent hotel! Great comfy beds, very clean, a lot of variety for your free breakfast, strong WiFi, good TV reception, staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful! The location is bang in the middle of town so very convenient, but very decent windows so no noise during the night!
Central location-reception area quite old and tired but staff all very friendly and helpful
Really friendly cozy hotel and staff. It is an older building so floor boards a wee bit creaky. Had a room at the front, so some street noise. Excellent fully cooked breakfast with great choice, and service. Wonderful location for train and bus stations.
Genuine Hospitality
Very walkable location close to rail and bus. Lovely helpful and low key service. I felt like any reasonable requests would be met by the MacDougalls.
This is a very old building-looks quite run down on ourside. Parking is a big problem. They have no designated spots. Its just street parking and you have to hope you can find a place clise by. But the owners are very accommodating and sweet. No elevator so must carry bags up stairs. Its in a great lication with lots if pubs and restaurants close by. Many histiric buildings around and its just ine blixk from Loch Ness and a beautiful walking brudge over it. Inverness Castle is close by. Pretty cool area. Our room was clean and comfortably. Id say this property is best for the younglings to 40 year olds who are trying to go cheap and have the ohysical capability to carry luggage upstairs..
We had 5 nights at the MacDougall Clansman during our first visit to Inverness. We could have stayed almost anywhere else but chose the Clansman as it is family run. We exchanged several emails with Iain and had all arrangements in place. Iain and family we're indeed super friendly. The hotel is older, as expected, but completely met our expectations for character. The beds were comfy, the shower worked great and they even had usb ports on the wall plugs for charging. Tbe location on Church Steet was excellent as was the morning breakfast. Many thanks to Iain and family for our great stay!
Felt like stepping back in time at this unique hotel. The room was very clean and my kids loved the bunk beds. We all enjoyed the breakfast.
Wonderful hotel
We spent one night at the MacDougall Clansman Hotel at the beginning of May. The owner, Iain MacDougall was extremely accommodating to us when we needed to order a taxi to the airport and have an early breakfast which was excellent. He also provided us with good recommendations for restaurants and pubs. The room itself was clean, large, had comfortable beds and a good shower. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The WiFi was also very fast.
We enjoyed the friendly staff. Clean rooms and the location was great too.
Enjoyed our stay (family of 4). Nothing fancy but was in a great location, clean and comfortable. It was a little like staying with family as its run by a family. Super helpful and accommodating.
Very friendly and welcoming. Great central location for exploring Inverness, I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying here. It was perfectly located near all major points of intersections and just far enough, but nowhere far at all from all the food and nightlife Inverness had to offer. Everything was simply sublime! This is the perfect hotel to stay at! Clean, near both the train and bus station and you are literally less than a minute to 5 minute walk to any major pub, restaurant, club, etc. It's possible to enjoy the nightlife without the night life noise bothering you when you sleep, but you can definitely party hard just walking out the door and simply heading right all the way up the block. The price was so competitive and the staff/owners are nothing short but great people. This is the only spot I'm coming to when I head back to Inverness
Immaculate room, friendly courteous staff, delicious hot breakfast, would go again and recommend to others.
Very polite staff. Nice and clean place to stay! Location is great as well in the city centre.
Great location, good breakfast included, staff friendly and helpful with recommendations and advice. Hotel was very clean but could use some updating.
Overing in Inverness
Excellent stay. Great selection of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. Although in such a busy area, the room was very quiet. Excellent breakfast.
Family break
Lovely week in Inverness with the kids
Beautiful place with staff who truly care about both their hotel & their guests. Fantastic overall location with a delicious breakfast!
