The room was filthy and smell like mould. Item’s left in cupboards, bathroom and bedroom linen was dirty and stained, kitchen was oily on surfaces and dirty. Bath tub had pubic hairs in it. Mould on the furniture and walls, fridge not clean and a lot of mould on it. Just disgusting all-round.
Great for the price, big and roomy and great location
A beautiful apartment. I would recommend an interior designer to embellish the bedrooms. More authentic antique furniture would raise the level of the accomodation.
I liked the older architecture styles
Olde feel hotel
Very central location. Fantastic if you enjoy character filled decor like we do.
Amazing penthouse right at the foot of everything. Very very quiet, lots of areas to chill and two balconies.....amazing property!!!!
Good location. Big accommodation
This was a very spacious property, making it feel more like a home. Very comfortable. I was able to entertain family with plenty of space. Only negative was not being able to get the shower to work. This was offset by the spa bath! The pool and barbecue areas were closed, which was a pity. Overall, I would definitely stay here again because of the space on offer.
Furnishings were well aged
Positives are a great location for proximity to CBD, spacious rooms and convenient under ground parking on site. Unfortunately the bed and pillows were uncomfortable, the carpet was stained, the shower handle was rusted, the cooking utensils were dirty and the view was of a department store storeroom.
Very convenient location. Very safe. Wifi TV not working well.
There weren't any cups and plates in the room. Other facilities are very good. I had my cup. So I could make coffee. If I did not have it, I had to go to shop and to buy it. If I needed to cook, I needed a plate. No plate at all.
lovely apartment, well furnished. Great location.
Lovely apartment, very central to everything
Thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at MacArthur Chambers. A little bit of history in the centre of town. Beautiful apartment
Very dirty unit, smelly, dusty and main bedroom flooded 8.30pm had to move mattress and sleep in dining room on the floor. No assistance on after hours number. Asked for compensation several times but nothing forthcoming.
Great location. Excellent front of house experience, especially when first room air conditioning unit dysfunctional.
You walk in and it’s stunning. The issue is the hallway between the elevator and the rooms. On the 4th floor the carpet smells like urine and is so pungent that you have to hold your breath and try and walk quickly. The room we had was a relief to walk into.
The beautiful hotel could be something if it was maintained correctly and run well, we had problems with the fridge, rust coming out of it! The wifi would only work in certain areas and if you got it you would only receive one bar. The service was horrid and unreliable. We asked them to help fix the wifi we received no assistance in taking our luggage to our aapartment .
No curtains or blinds
Did not sleep due to the bedroom having no curtains so all the building lighting shined straight in.
Great location
Great location, just off the end of the Queenstreet mall . Woolworths and a BWS bottle shop down below. Walking distance to Central Railway station, and the mall for food and shopping
Easy access to shops, southbank and casino
The property is old and run down and also filthy. The dust, mould and grime was not nice at all. We were also not communicated with correctly for the parking and we were not told there was no out of hours reception. We stayed one night and cancelled the following 2 nights and went somewhere nicer. I wouldnt recommend at all.
Very capable staff and willing to assist, Property is very well positioned to easy walk to everything you need. No need to even take a vehicle.
walking proximity to all the good stuff
Handy to Queen St mall. Woolworths next door. Could do with new carpet and painting. Good Kitchen Large floor space
Perfect location and facilities . So much space and beautifully maintained. Love staying here always
Great location
Reception desk is friendly. Comms wise - they are a step behind at every level (send an after hours entry procedure too late, dont have clear instructions for looking up wifi connections, etc.). Rooms are nice, in need of a refresher and could do a lot better job at cleaning.
Reception staff we lovely and helpful. The apartments are in a great location to everything with woolworths at the bottom the building and just near the bottom of Queen st Mall. The apartment was a really good size and clean. Very good quality accommodation
Easy stay.
Check in was not well organised. Parking is tricky if you are on your own. Rooms are spacious and clean, our main bedroom had no curtains/blinds so lights of the city kept us awake and early morning light woke us early. Other than that we felt safe and great location to shopping/restaurants.
The location is exceptional. The room well presented and neat. Getting in the front door was awkward. At 2.05 we were told our room wasn’t ready and we would have to wait for a code and access to the safe. That arrived at 2.17 and there were 3 other families waiting for theirs. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Not quite like the pictures!
The hotel was conveniently located in the Brisbane City just near the Apple Store across the road from the end of the mall. Shops and restaurants were nearby. The entrance was extremely difficult to locate. The two bedroom apartment was very large. The furniture comprised older and newer items. The dishwasher was partially broken. The tiny patio had a broken clothes dryer, one chair that was filthy, a broken hose pipe, dirty bamboo style privacy screen and an old door thing. It was very dark in the apartment, you needed to keep the lights on. We were extremely disappointed about the pool. The pictures looked lovely, however the pool was what looked like, in a state is disrepair. It was empty with green mould / scum all down the sides. It stated it was under repair, albeit with the way it was looking, it must have been like this for a very long time. I doubt I would stay there again. Quite disappointing. Staff were very pleasant and professional.
Lovely apartment so large, would definitely stay here again. So close to everything. Thanks
Lovely old building in great location.Comfroatble and spacious with nice bedding and well equipped kitchen. Hairdryer and clothes dryer did not work. Toilet did not flush properly.
Very basic amenities, but location is good. Apartment was very spacious with kitchen, TV, dining area, bathroom and balcony. WIFI is very poor quality, drops out and is complicated to connect. Balcony and living area looks directly into an office building. Bathroom could use a proper wipe down and mop. I believe the pool is out of service. Think of this more as a bed at motel quality - don't have high expectations but it does the job!
Property location was great, love the carpark but hard to find one as most are taken, love the surrounding, shops, walking distances to pretty much what we need. But our appartment, the main bedroom, no curtains, was hard to sleep lights at night and in the morning, all day, toilet in the onsuite seal is broken, can be dangerous.
Tariff was obviously based on location. No double lock on front door, mismatched furniture. Bathroom not clean, toilet seat would not stay up. No curtain on window in bedroom. Pillows were cheap and very uncomfortable. Wifi would not work. Very disappointing. Never stay again
Perfect location for our family holiday. Our apartment was huge with everything we needed for the weekend. Woolworths was right around the corner and Big W we really enjoyed our stay!
Very spacious accomodation.And good security
Centrally located accommodation right in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. The retrofitted hotel apartments offer large rooms with lounge and kitchen - suitable for family stay, etc. The close proximity to CBD also means that significant noise can be expected, particularly on weekend nights.
Okay. Great location
Great location in the central city. Very comfortable. Well appointed.
I liked this motel Beautiful old building lovingly restored Great spot
Possibly the nicest place I have had in brissie. Spacious clean and comfortable in an excellent location with parking. Property was very comfortable
No locks and people intruding
Fantastic location. Thats where the positives end. I booked Macarthur Chambers for 12 nights. When I arrived to the unit, it obviously had not had a thorough clean. The walls and doors were dirty, the dishwasher smelt like old food and the kettle was unusable (it had a peeling film on the inside of the jug). The hotel lacked basic communication, I had an electrician, not once but twice swipe into my room without knocking and no notification despite me telling reception twice to please not let anyone into my room. There is no lock on the inside of the door and I felt unsafe enough to have a chair against the door when in the unit. The room says they do houseservicing every 7 days, this was never offered to me. The Wifi also doesnt work.
Really great location
It’s a great location for shopping and events. We did have problems with the fob when exiting the premises. The fob would not fit in the key drop box.
Unlikely to return
The check-in process was not as smooth as it could be. My colleague checked in after 6 pm and there was nobody at the desk. We did not expect that and that was a challenge. Wi-Fi service really slow and not usable
Good service and hang everything.
Lovely self contained appartment, very clean, spacious and quiet. The beds were a little hard was the only downside so wasn’t a great sleep but everything else was great including the location
I feel the parking at the property should have been explained prior to arrival. The apartments furniture could do with a bit of an upgrade. Great central location in a beautiful heritage building.
Spacious apartment in old character building. Grocery nearby. Quiet. Older apartment with good amenities.
Excellent location right next to a lot of the shops that I needed away from the much high end shops on queen street. Check in was terrible. Check in date was on a weekend and it is unstaffed thus I was left outside with no communication and instructions on how to check in. The after hours line did not answer my calls had to get Expedia to intervene. Apartment is fantastic. However the bed is single which is not an ideal size for me personally.
Good rooms, well laid out kitchen and laundry. Right in the middle of the city, so very easy access to shops and transport. Check in easy but the only issue is if you have a car, getting access pass to the carpark. You have to very quickly park in Edward st, get the pass then proceed to carpark in Elizabeth St. Overall great stay
This property is different and older style.it is really quite and very comfortable and we look forward to getting back. An additional bonus was seeing General MacArthur 's office on the 8th floor
Pros: ± Prime location ± Spacious accommodations ± Friendly staff members Cons: ± Numerous maintenance issues, including a broken toilet button, malfunctioning bathroom door, a toilet roll holder that was temporarily secured with bandaids, a flickering light and curtains stained and detached from rails ± The bathroom door had detached, and a male staff member at reception informed us that we would be responsible for the repair costs, which was quite a frustrating experience given the general maintenance of the property. ± The air conditioning in the property had an overpowering fragrance. ± Reception services were only available during business hours and not on weekends. ± There was no secure storage available for luggage before check-in or after check-out.
Designed and operated for longer term accommodation not overnight guests Problems with TV & wif connection Receptionist very pleasant manner but very limited knowledge about Brisbane streets or locations or setting up Wi fi What about a training course
Highly recommended for location (right in the CBD within walking distance of everything!) Clean, comfortable, quiet, perfect.
Don’t stay here!
I sent an email to management the day after I checked out and have given them a month to reply but have heard nothing. I would have accepted an apology, but since I haven’t, here you go: I checked in late and had instructions on how to get my room key- that was all fine, I’ve been through this procedure at other hotels before. But when I went to drive into the underground carpark, the roller door was shut and my swipe card wouldn’t open it. It was midnight and I went around the block after reversing out and re-read the instructions to find I was supposedly doing everything correctly. Twenty minutes later someone who had a swipe card that worked, was able to open it and I drove in. I finally got in my room I got to my room and it went from bad to worse. A big stain on the bed, half-smoked yellowing cigarettes on the balcony, and the bathroom bench hadn’t been wiped down after the previous occupation and had leftover, dried toothpaste on it. The following morning, the blind in my room wouldn’t open and the shower flooded the bathroom due to a loose shower head leaving me to mop before leaving at 10am. A total of 9 hours spent in my room and I’m doing housework. There was no natural light in this room making it super depressing. So I left and came back only when I was ready to sleep.
Great
Great apartment in fabulous position. Only trick is getting the swipe card to get into the carpark, no parking out side apartment so difficult to pick up card. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
Great location and very spacious apartments. Could’ve been a little cleaner and shocked they wanted $150 for a late checkout!!
Great location, great place
Great location
This is a great property for accessibility to shopping and entertainment. It is safe, quiet and generally well maintained. On the negative side the dishwasher could not be accessed, there was a hole in the wall near the kitchen area, the air conditioning temperature could not be changed and the second toilet near the laundry was locked and could only be opened by payment of an additional fee!
Great inner city stay
Beautiful apartment. Easy check in. Close to everything. Very comfortable stay.
Grand building in an excellent location. Situated at the top of Queen St.Mall so easy walking distance to shopping ,dining and transport. A larger than average 1bedroom apartment with fully equipped kitchen. Clean and well furnished with comfortable bed . My apartment on the 6th floor was very quiet .
Location and friendly staff. I've stayed here 3 other times. This was first for 2 bdrm apartment. Bed was not put together, aircond and eshaust fan in bedrm , or living area didn't work. Massive horrible sewage smell in bathrm/ laundry drains. Made me ill. Broken furnishings. I was quite disappointed
Spacious character property
I like the classical style of the building and my unit, which was very comfortable. Everything I needed was there. The unit was larger than expected. I was a bit disappointed by the poor signal for the TV, which essentially meant no access to quite a few channels. The unit would benefit from a bit of a refresh, mostly a new carpet as the one currently there has a lot of stains. I really enjoyed my stay overall.
Very well located accommodation and parking was great. Fabulously large apartment however it is a tad dated and sadly the beds very very uncomfortable. Otherwise excellent - great to be able to walk outside to shopping and restaurants.
The dryer didn't work and the couch wasn't very comfortable, otherwise it was everything we wanted and we'll be back soon for another wonderful stay
Misleading information and ripped off
We checked in late but received the key and entered the room very easily. However, the day after that, when we went out and came back, the key was not active and that was the weekend and we had to ask the neighbor to connect the service and wait 10 minutes for service staff.
Location great but maintenance and communication was poor on the occasion of our visit which meant we had to adapt to the accommodation offered. Not all appliances worked.
Beautiful building with a great and elegant apartment. All staff were friendly and helpful and helped us through the rather tricky experience of parking our car.
Very close to everything you need
No area to pull up to check in, lift access from carpark not available and not communicated at time of check in. Room was moderately clean, but found hair in shower and nail clippings on the rug in the lounge area.
Accommadation was great. We all enjoyed our stay. Loved our room, & it's facilities. Great location. Restaurants, public transport, all within a few minutes walk of Queen St mall. Parking was absolutely shocking. Not impressed at all. Got away late. Not to mention having to park across the street & carry all you're luggage to the hotel entrance upon check-in. Lucky we weren't catching a flight or needed our car in an emergency situation. Hotel underground parking access was via shopping center elevator, which of coarse was all locked out at this time. Trying to depart @ 0500. Could not access the underground carpark prior to 0500. Our access card would not work via hotel basement due to some kind of maintenance upgrade ? Street roller door access would not activate. There was a queue of vehicles trying to access the street roller door. Finally it opened & I was able to walk through down to our car. Not good enough. Very bad instructions overall & a safety issue especially for visitors who are not familar with access.
Check the lift is working to the car park first
This place is awesome until the lift to the car park goes out of service, or you want to leave with your car and return late - oh my goodness I almost just parked across the street at my own expense in another lot - very clunky and the only reason I got back in was by chance someone left - then the quest for the fire exit and soooo many stairs in a scary dirty stairwell
Very close & convenient for public transport to & from airport. Easy to dash to shops for groceries. Apartment very spacious. Loved the museum on the 8th floor!!!!
I had a Sunday check in, and key collection was easy. Had a little bit of trouble with access into the carpark due to key not coded properly, however, this was rectified promptly after a call to the number provided with access details. Great carpark, especially considering location, parked Kia Carnival with ease. Rooms are a little bit dated, but clean and comfortable and well equipped kitchen. Would definitely stay again.
The property is very centrally located. I was not able to get in straight away, as reception was closed, so I had to wait for someone to exit the building to get in.
Couldn’t get into room , booked 2 bedroom for 4 people only got 1 bed . Person who booked us in didn’t know the property as he was after hours . He had to clean the clean and did his best . Had no one contact me after I talked the receptionist the day we left and sent an email to company Lovely spot but very disappointed
Great location and size of units
Lovely building
Brilliant stay
Great location
Very spacious, lovely apartment
Liked the proximity to city centre. The accommodation was quiet, clean and it was good that it was self-contained. Loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. Only negative was that we found it difficult to climb in and out of the shower due to the height of the spa bath.
Apartment was nice, everything was within walking distance, but trying to check-in was difficult due to busy street
Historic building, well maintained, beautiful rooms/suites. Great location with shops right below. Short stroll to Central Station. Very good wine bars and eating places very close.
Excellent condition. Very clean
wonderful hotel.
Great place - I was in Brisbane for training and apartment was minutes from the office - close to everything I needed - certainly clean - furniture is getting alittle tired - but clean and comfortable
Location is great
Wonderful hotel. Will definitely use in the future. Very spacious and clean. Close to lots of attractions. Stuff very nice and helpful. Apartment haf everything we needed.

Great character property, in a great location. Well set up apartment, but air con needs some maintenance. Terrible communication. We never received communication about the code to access our room key. Other very kind residence helped us access our key.
