The staff was great and the only real issue was the location. Once we got there we did not want to drive into town for dinner. I will say, however, I did not see many (if any) hotels in the down town area or near the water so it just may be the way the city is laid out.

Great stay for a business trip with very accommodating staff. I'll definitely be back!

Clean and friendly.

This was our first night's stay in NZ after the plane from Singapore. V friendly lady on reception who gave us some milk for tea. We were allocated room 6 which was spotlessly clean but needs, in my opinion, a new mattress. It is too soft. Kitchen is well stocked.

Excellent and cosy

Such a beautiful place to stay. Linda was an incredible host and helpful. Room was gorgeous, spa bath an extra beautiful bonus. Plunger coffee and make up bathroom fluffy towels. Excellent pressure shower and incredibly comfortable bed. Road noise didnt bother me as im a good sleeper anyway. Loved my stay and will definitely return if staying in Whangarei

Wonderful staff - way above expectations

Very nice property. Easy walk into town and all that Whangarei has to offer. A bit noisy being so close to the highway.

Relaxing, welcoming and attractive lodge.

Modern, very comfortable studio unit. Excellent supply of bathroom necessities, including shower cap. Darker makeup flannel, always appreciated. Kitchenette with good supply of utensils, S&P, cooking oil, Plunger coffee and range of teas. Sadly, we didn't have enough spare time to use the pool, but wish we had. Even though the Lodge is on a very busy main road, we couldn't hear the traffic noise. Would definitely stay here again. No shops, cafes or restaurants within walking distance, but didn't feel that was a problem.

Lovely place. My wife suffered an injury just before comjng and they were very accommodating and helpful in ensuring she was well looked after.

Lovely immaculate motel with added touches.

Very nice and tidy

Comfortable bed, great shower pressure, quiet, heat pump and warm heated floor tiles in bathroom. Need to drive to CBD. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have been traveling around New Zealand for a month. Lodge Bordeaux has easily been the most pleasant place we've stayed. They've really thought of everything! And the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was delicious, too!

Beautiful Bordeaux Lodge

David and Stephanie were absolutely delightful hosts. The unit was modern, extra clean and fully equipped. Attention to detail was foremost. They even had electric bikes to rent - we had a blast!! We will definitely be back our next time in New Zealand ❤️

Unacceptable traffic noise

The motel is next to a busy highway & our room (2) was the closest to the highway. The traffic noise was unacceptably loud & constant & I couldn’t possibly fall asleep.

Brilliant at the Bordeaux

The Lodge is on a busy main road but our accommodation was at the back of the property.Our host was both friendly and helpful, the room was in very good condition, bed was very comfortable and the shower was one of the best we have ever used in motel accommodation. Would definitely visit again when in Whangarei.

I’ve travel from Auckland to whangarei a few times now and this place is by far the best I have stayed at. place is so lovely the owners of this place make u feel comfortable and very onto it when u need anything.Apartment was immaculate my family really enjoyed there stay. So good I have booked again in August 😂😂😂. See u guys then can’t wait

Very nice place!

A lovely, modern suite with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We used it as a base to explore the Northlands. Nice day trips to Bay if Islands and over to Kauri Coast. Beautiful coastline nearby. The hosts are very helpful and available.

Small, family-run motel that's quite new and well-kept. Right on main road (State Highway 1) to Bay of Islands and also very close for walking (through a great park along the river) to the lovely downtown eating and shopping areas. Spent 2 nights in a their upscale rooms with a balcony and kitchenette--was full-featured and well-appointed.

Lodge Bordeaux is absolutely wonderful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. A kitchen was provided in our room so we could cook if we wanted. Free use of laundry facilities. The hotel is centrally located on highway one so it is easy to navigate from this point. Town center (basin) is within 5 minutes and Whangarei falls is a short drive. We loved staying here and will be back in the future. This place is a gem!

Clearly the best yet in Whangarei

Friendly check in and the room itself is well appointed with comfortable decor and a great air-jet tub. Kitchen has everything needed and no more which is good. Reception suggestions for takeaway delivery were on the mark. Heat pump in the room was effective, if a little on the noisy side. Overall an excellent stay.

Great place to stay in Whangarei

What a lovely, lovely stay in Whangarei! We stayed here two nights. Wonderful, friendly hosts! Comfortable beds, and having the big spa tub in our bathroom was SUCH a treat! (HUGE whirlpool tub! *double thumbs up*) The laundry room was easily accessible on the 1st floor. Would highly recommend. Downtown areas and restaurants a short drive away; Tutukaka (main departure point for diving trips to the Poor Knights) is about half an hour away.

Amazing, can't wait to stay again. Such a treat 😊

Exceptionally clean home away from home!

Room met our high expectations based on style and cleanliness except for the coarse sheets. Kitchen was equipped in an exceptional manner except for the refrigerator that was so packed with items for sale that we had to make room for our items. Front desk service was quite varied. Person who checked us in didn't acknowledge our 50th wedding anniversary and wasn't very friendly. Two other women were friendly but not helpful at all re local tourist spots. Most dangerous exit onto the main highway from property we have ever experienced! Husband suggested mounting a convex mirror so traffic coming from right can be seen by drivers exiting parking lot. Traffic noise all night long was a bit of a problem. We will stay there again if we are ever in the area.

On holiday in Whangarei. Hotel was clean and met our needs, with driving access to nearby beaches and sites. Need to drive to get downtown and most restaurants. Bed was called a king size but felt smaller. Staff were helpful and friendly

Property was neat and good. Only the coffee cups could do with a better cleaning. Stuff was very friendly. I would recommend the accommodation to everyone.

Could not recommend this wonderful place enough. It was perfect with wonderful hosts. Spotlessly clean and so quiet even though on main road. Would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone travelling through.

A nice room, well stocked food and beverage, super nice check in and a great location for beautiful coastal hikes and downtown Whangerei.

This is a fabulous find - lookno farther! It’s beautiful, comfortable, and the amenities are above and beyond. David and Stephanie were so helpful in terms of making suggestions for how to spend our time andwhere to dine. We just loved it.

Best in Whangarei

Stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with husband and friend on the 7th of Oct 2018. Beautifully decorated with everything you need for a comfortable stay after a long drive. Cleanliness of all rooms top-notch. No road noise or noise from neighbors noticed. Brilliant service from the owners - very friendly and breakfast was amazing and delivered to room right on time. Would have loved to have stayed much longer, great price for the standard of rooms and service. Don't overlook this place!

Whangarei Gem

Lovely motel. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and fresh room. Bathroom was beautifully set out with modern conveniences. Highly recommend this motel. Such a treat to have 2 cats on guard outside the rooms keeping an eye on the comings and goings.

Wonderful Stay

Stephanie and her husband were extremely helpful throughout our stay. We used their 3 point plug to charge our car, and they are looking at getting a Tesla charger. We were also able to have urgent documents scanned by them, and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

What a great place to stay.

I cannot fault Lodge Bordeaux. We were made welcome from the moment we arrived, and they went out of their way to check us in early (which we did not expect). Every touch for a great stay has been thought of. Need slippers, they have them, a separate face cloth for makeup removal, make up removal wipes. Forgot your toothbrush and toothpaste - don't worry they've got you covered. Comfortable beds, great pillow selection and lovely bedding. The tea and coffee offering are better than what you normally get in a motel (great plunger coffee as well) and the cooked breakfast rivals any café breakfast you've eaten. Them Our one night here was better than the two nights we spent at a 5 star international hotel in Auckland and the bed much more comfortable.

Great stopover in a luxurious apartment. Friendly hosts.

Lovely high specified immaculate apartment/room

Arrived early not an issue booked in and received keys. Room was very highly specified with very high quality fittings throughout. Large apartment with Jacuzzi bath. Only downside there was quite a bit of road noise however would definitely stay again and owner apologized for it. They are looking at getting double glazing installed. Our room, to be fair looked over the highway but I would have this room again. If you were a light sleeper it may have been an issue.

The room we stayed in was decorated tastefully, was very modern and in a great location - nice and convenient to town. The bed was comfortable, the WiFi was fast and the spa bath was great too! Would definitely go back again! We loved it, thank you.

A very pleasant surprise upon entering the room, finding all the essential amenities and then some. Stand out things to mention are the luxurious spa bath, real plunger coffee and free access to wi-fi.

Lovely place

Amazing stay and great service! Perfect for families. Kitchen was sufficiently stocked to make easy meals. My boys loved having their own room but the shower was a highlight! Only minor feedback is that the bedrooms got hot because the a/c only cooled the main areas. Quaint town, everything close by.
