Wedding noise meant we had to be moved room even though when i checked in i was assured we would not be disturbed by the noise. In reality our room was right over the wedding disco and the noise was awful.
Liverpool overnighter
Lovely hotel in the park but only 5 minute walk to Lark lane for bars and restaurants. Nice room, great bar, hope to stay again
Peaceful spot
Friendly welcome - offered to carry bags. Faded elegance. Very quiet ( except for squeaky doors) . Great breakfast with great views. Just missing a garden and lounge. Would definitely stay again.
Rooms were small but clean and well laid out with everything you need. The telephone didn’t work which wasn’t a problem. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good but a bit greasy and felt that the lake of self service let it down but overall was good. My only issue was the other guests were so very noisy that kept us up all night the first night with no respect for other guest. I feel that there should be a quiet notice. This really spoilt out stay. And if the telephone was working we would have rang reception to complain.!
All staff we met were lovely and accommodating - they really went above and beyond for us which we really appreciate.
The noise from the central heating pipes were so loud that I had to be moved to another room at 1 am. The cleanliness of the rooms was not acceptable. The receptionist checking me in was more interested in talking to her colleague than attending to me. I did speak to Tim, the duty manager and he agreed to provide partial monetary compensation which was honourable but I would rather have had a good night’s sleep!
Weekend away with the Girls
Great weekend away with the girls, loved the room and the beds were lovley and comfy. Staff so friendly and helpful on the reception and at the bar. Cannot fault anything !
Decent hotel in a good location in Liverpool near a lively park. We paid 10 pounds total to park in the lot for 2 days, very convenient. The glass restaurant was very nice and open for drinks after dinner. Breakfast was included and was a nice start to our days. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Don't bother
At £168 odd for a nite I'd say a complete rip off. Parking extra and breakfast. Aimed at tourist market who don't have a clue. I travel up and down the country week in week out. This hotel was worth £80 per nite max!
Cosy Stay in Liverpool
This Hotel is located overlooking Sefton Park and close to Lark Lane and GreenBank Student accommodation which is why we chose it. Very friendly service. Impressive building, needs some brushing up, but generally clean very comfortable room. Great breakfast room at the front overlooking the park. We will sty here again.
This hotel is advertised as 'Liverpool City Centre' - but by no stretch of the imagination can it be realistically described as such. It is more than TWO MILES from the City Centre and should be identified accordingly.
It was nice to stay in a quirky old hotel. I didn't know they had weddings there but that area looked beautiful. It was a bit noisy over night, and our room was a little cramped. The beds were a bit creaky byt comfy enough to stay in for one night. All of the staff were really friendly
Excellent value for one nights stay
Nice hotel
Hotel on the Park
Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful location.
Enjoyable stay
Very good value, the room was big and the bathroom very clean with a powerful shower. Breakfast was excellent, buffet style with plenty of choice. Friendly staff. Only criticism was the heat, for safety reasons the window could not be opened wide. There were 2 fans in the room but in the recent heat they were not sufficient. A fridge in the room would be useful. The location was ideal, we were staying to attend a Graduation at the Philharmonic Hall which was a short taxi ride away. Lark Lane is a short walk away with a choice of restaurants.
Excellent
Warm welcome on arrival, girl on reception very nice and helpful. Quiet location, big park across the road. Property really clean and fantastic breakfast.
Great hotel for Sefton Park events.
Nice hotel near Sefton Park. Rooms small but comfortable and the staff are very helpful.
Clean and comfortable
This was a one night stay to collect daughter from Uni. Excellent value, clean and great location. It is dated but clean and comfortable
Nice but dated
We arrived at the hotel around 1pm which we acknowledge was early. Having travelled from Birmingham we used the facilities and went into the town centre. We arrived back at the hotel at around 3.30pm and our room was not ready. Check in is 3pm. It was explained to us the hotel had some problems with housekeeping. We were advised we could wait in the bar and were offered complimentary drinks. Having waited almost an hour we were eventually told our room was ready. On entering the room it was bright and spacious. We had a kinged size and 2 single beds. The king sized bed was comfortable however just from looking at the made up single beds we could see that they dipped in the middle which made for 2 uncomfortable nights for our children. The bathroom was spacious with good sized shower. We noted the windows and doors of the hotel were dirty and appeared to have not been cleaned for weeks. The outer housing of the shower was also dirty. There were not many staff onsite and the receptionist appeared to double as the bar tender. However, they were kind and courteous. We appreciate it was Jubilee week and staff may have been thin on the ground. Would we stay hear again, maybe but only as a last resort. It is clear to see this must have been a lovely hotel in its day, however, as with most Best Western hotels the decor is dated. We appreciate this is a 3 star hotel and you get what you pay for however one would still expect a better degree of cleanliness.
Staff was excellent and assisted when room was fully booked.
Excellent value, great location and helpful staff
Very happy with our stay at the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The room looked as if it had been renovated fairly recently and was in very good order throughout. Beds comfortable with a nice outlook over a courtyard. Nice to hear morning birdsong in a city hotel! Dog-friendly too which is an absolute must for us and a reasonable dog surcharge. It annoys me when a hotel adds £30 a night for a dog!! This hotel was just £15 - so reasonable. Excellent location too on edge of big and beautifl Sefton Park and near Lark Lane where there are multiple eating options. Very impressed overall and wouls certainly/happily stay again
The location was excellent and it has good parking. The room was basic and not that clean. The fittings eg the toilet roll holder and curtain holders were hanging out of the wall, where the rawl plugs had come loose. Minimal maintenance would have fixed these. There was no hot water from the shower
Rooms are not clean enough
We had 2 rooms between 4 of us. In our room, the view of the park was nice and the towels were good. Those are the only good things really. The rubbish from the previous guests was still in the bin, including pot noodles etc. The bed was not comfortable and there were several inches of bare mattress on my husband's side when he went to get in, the sheet wasn't wide enough for a double bed, and there was enough dust on top of the tissue box holder in the bathroom to write in. All 3 mirrors in our room had dirty marks on and weren't cleaned / or not enough anyway. In the room my children were in, it had not been vacuumed at all - on the floor we found several metal screws, a hair slide, and lots of TOE NAIL CLIPPINGS, all in plain sight, eeewww! And a used tissue in one of the bedside drawers. Just basic stuff that the cleaners should be doing! The breakfast was fine, but the mini fridge that the milk jug etc was in needs a good clean - the door of it was dirty, it wasn't clean under the jug itself - crystallised milk etc there - just not good enough, and I NEVER normally write reviews, but it looks like all the previous ones I'd seen about cleanliness being an issue were right. We only needed somewhere to lay our heads for one night and were only there 14 hours all in all, but if we'd been staying longer we would have done something about it at the time. The check in staff we met were nice and friendly.
the hotel was a little tired but the staff and general ambience and particularly the excellent breakfast was very good.
Avoid at all costs
Pros: None. Cons: Not been updated since around the 60s. Lovely sound of the plumbing 24/7. What can only be described as a loud generator noise going on and off 24/7. No bar or restaurant despite being advertised here. Rooms falling apart. Bottom line: No idea where positive reviews are coming from but I've stayed in around 90 different hotels in 4 years and this is by far the worst I've booked.
Reasonably OK, but a little tired.
Stay was comfortable and generally OK. We have stayed at the hotel before and the room we got this time was definitely smaller and less comfortable than last time. The whole hotel is a little 'tired' and in need of a refresh (broken tiles, leaky taps, broken hooks etc etc.). Our stay was spoiled slightly by the (very loud) fire alarm that went off at a little after 6am and then again at 7.30am unnecessarily. No explanation or apology was given for this.
Lovely
Had a nice stay here, staff are so lovely and helpful and make you feel very welcome Room.lovely and clean .
Night in Liverpool
Great location with good local amenities. Nice park. Room was tiny. Shower was disappointing. Breakfast was very nice.
Staff were great, room was okay but restaurant was closed and noisy guests kept us up till 2am
Could be better
Needs a refurbishment. Breakfast overcooked
Great
Magnificent breakfast. Would have been helpful if info had been given on check in eg breakfast timings, location etc
Staff was pleasant nice clean rooms
Liverpool Aigburth Hotel 1 night stay
Everything was quite basic but small, clean and comfortable. Not worth £169.00 a night.
Beautiful place just needs a bit of a face lift . Security not great. We walked in and out without anyone checking. Issue with door keys not working. Pleasant stay though
Disappointing
We had 2 rooms. Both very dusty, one had someone else’s rubbish in the bin. The furniture wasn’t just old it was tatty, the curtains were hanging off in both rooms. On the second night the hotel had a function downstairs which sounded like we were on top of a nightclub. Extremely loud music until after midnight. The only good point was that the breakfast was very nice.
It is a lovely building in a safe and nice part of Liverpool; opposite the beautiful Sefton Park. The staff were friendly I stayed with my daughter in a twin room. The decor is rather tired. Didn't sleep well as there was knocking sound from the radiators all night long. Breakfast is fairly basic. The s
Lovely location and a hotel with some character.
This hotel is just around the corner from the lovely restaurants in Lark Lane and across the road from the beautiful Sefton Park. Reception was very straightforward and parking was to the rear of the hotel and very secure. It was a quick overnight stay and away early in the morning buti really enjoyed my stay here.
Location is lovely, rooms are okay (though some maintenance required), breakfast was fairly substantial buffet, reception was helpful as possible given the booking nightmare that is Expedia. The barman needs to chat less and clean up more (tables were still dirty in the morning) and room service neglected to freshen our room after our first night (bed not made, towels not replaced). I didn't see the presence of an actual manager, everyone seemed like staff so noone really taking personal responsibility.
Lovely location and building. Friendly staff and room facilities perfect
What a let down
Shabby dated and none too clean, very poor double bed didn't sleep well as the bed was two singles zipped together so large seem right down the middle. Building work taking place and hotel is covered in scaffolding ( not told about this if I was I would not have stayed). Would not stay again!
Shambles
Room not clean.Clumps of hairs on carpet. Tiny room. Breakfast very poor. Staff pleasant but incompetent. Paid just under £500 for 2 rooms for 1 night for family occasion. Total rip off. Never again with Best Western!
On check in no times where given for breakfast or where any of the facilities where or what time bar open or anything like that at all just told where room was checked into our room for somebody else’s clothes to be in wardrobe and other items in there room was filthy even after cleaned again thick dust on dressing table I even wrote clean me in the dust that’s how thick the dust was spare pillows on top of wardrobe where dirty kne with blood in and the other smelt dirty got them changed just overall not a nice room to stay in
Basic budget stay in good location
We went for a budget room and it served its purpose. It was clean but dated and no view but it was cheap. The hotel is being refurbished so it may not be as cheap in a finished room. They weren't serving evening meals during our stay but the Milo Lounge in Lark Lane is a 5 min walk away and was fab. We met our daughter for breakfast in the morning so I can't comment on that. Great location next to Sefton Park for a walk.
Disappointing stay
We had a room at the rear. The room was dirty and tired. The bathroom was dirty and the bath didn’t drain quickly enough. When the bath did drain water came up through the sink plug hole and two dirty used ear buds came up. The light on one side of the bed had no glass but it was behind the side cabinet. I know this was only a £60 room but the room just wasn’t nice at all.
Bad Hotel
Staff was so friendly and chatty we was so tired and found the hotel comfortable and fresh xx
Great stay
Great friendly professional staff in all departments, fabulous full breakfast buffet that was hot. Plenty of hot water, hotel having a bit of a refit but not affecting stay- Hotel across the road from Sefton Park & beautiful garden at the rear
I have stayed here before and always found the staff and hotel to be brilliant. I was going to be busy painting my daughters flat whilst there and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room 14 was clean and the bathroom updated and modern.
nice
nice room,breakfast,staff
Dated hotel rooms with old overused mattress
staff were friendly and helpful. But rooms very dated and first room we were allocated had such an overused mattress the springs were constantly decompressed. We were moved rooms immediately when requested and the second room had been updated more recently and mattress was better (still not great though). The fire escape for the floor was through our bedroom and unfortunately the smoke alarm did go off in the middle of the night, luckily we didn’t have to evacuate. Tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer in room, toiletries free. However not all that was used was replaced with the daily cleaning service. The spare toilet roll was put onto the holder but no spare left. I go to Liverpool frequently and won’t stay here again. I wouldnt recommend. It’s a shame because it’s a gorgeous building on the outside, and staff were all friendly.
Stayed here for a weekend as we were visiting Anfield (my husband's birthday present). As a member of Hotels.com I had been rewarded with free nights and so used my free nights to stay here. I just had to pay some admin fees and taxes. I chose a superior room as a treat and am certainly glad that I didn't pay full price of approx. £200. I would have been very disappointed if I had paid this. We received a lovely warm welcome, the staff are excellent. We went directly to our superior room and although it was large and very clean it was disappointing. There was no bath which I had been advised on my booking confirmation there would be. The furniture in the room was old and all in dark wood which gave a dark and dreary appearance. There was an old tv cabinet which served no purpose as there was a tv on the wall, the curtains were old and not very clean and had to be closed shut with a peg etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely. Toilet roll was not replaced. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The first morning we were served sour milk for our cereal and for our tea. This meant that we had to wait for a new pot of tea and the waiter forgot to bring it until we asked him again. There really should be more staff at breakfast. The one waiter was doing everything - welcoming guests, taking orders and bringing drinks, clearing tables and replacing fresh food. Next day there was a shortage of food brought out of the kitchen - bacon, eggs, sausages, bread. Disappointed.com
It was very dated, dirty, the breakfast was cold, there was no orange juice left or glasses. We should of had a 3 course meal but to be told sorry the restaurant was closed we had to go elsewhere.
Good quality for the price
Great comfortable bed, lovely quality breakfast. Sometimes difficult to find staff as there seemed to be a staff shortage. The staff were very helpful though
Clean and comfortable. Great price for room and friendly, helpful staff
Was informed after booking by email, there were no food facilities. Room was freezing cold next to emergency exit. Big gap under the door with draught coming through. Colder than the receptions area. Parts of the building including our room smelt of damp and must. Not the same since its been taken over by Hallmark.
Rooms very dusty Curtains torn. Room cold
I liked the situation opposite the park, easy parking on site. Didn't care for the size of the room. Bit small but was only sleeping in it so it didn't matter too much.
The staff were excellent and would come back and stay again in the future
The property was tired. We had a basement room and there were leaves all over the carpet that had presumably blown in when someone had opened an external fire door. They were still there the following day, some 18 hours later. Overall, for what we paid, it was fair value for money.
First of all I want to say the staff here are lovely can't fault them at all. Checked in was giving Ng a standard room when i booked a exclusive double. Fist of all my bed side lamp didn't work. Then tried to plug my phone into change and three of the plugs where broken. Pipes where banging all night waking me up and the light from outside was shining straight through our window l. The bath was all scuffed and looked dorty. I will definitely not be booking to stay here again given the amount I paid
The team at the Hallmark Hotel were amazing ! They made the stay such a pleasant experience ! Thank You ! P.s The breakfast was great too .....
Booked an overnight stay in twin room When I arrived asked if room had a bath - it did which was great however when I got to room there was no plug ! Called reception and within 2 minutes the last was at my room with another room key. Moved 2 doors down to a double with bath. This room was extremely large and felt more modern so I was extremely pleased
Looks lovely from the outside. Staff really helpful and friendly. In need of an update and good clean.
Can't get the basics right
Room service burger was awful. TV didn't work, gave them a whole day to fix it, which they failed to do. When challenged, they said it would take a few days to get a new one. Moved to and "upgraded" room with a working TV and the remote was held together with tape. Bathroom had to radiator, hand soap and they didn't replenish the toilet paper. Constant noise from slamming doors and Air circulation fans. Bed linen did not fit the beds and the mattress was the second worst I have had to slept on in approximately 400 hotels in my life. I will not be going back.
Staff very friendly and very helpful. In a good location. Room was nice and pleasant.
Meh
Such a shame; could be a really nice hotel in a great location but it’s old and tired and I have a feeling the staff don’t care. Great for lark lane but other than that wouldn’t stay again
Room 17 was tiny. Wasn’t particularly clean either. Hotel needs modernised. Had the Disappointed as not up
Basic
The shower doesn't work properly, showerhead fell off, poor water pressure had to run a bath to rinse shampoo out of my hair
Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff! Great food too!
happy stay
Disappointing stay. Lights in room 307 did not work, no hot water from the shower and loud noise from the late night party downstairs kept us awake. I don’t think the hotel realises just how much noise booms to the floor above. This loud music went on until midnight. We should have been made aware and given a room a level above
Extremely helpful and cheerful staff. Bathroom light being somewhat inconveniently position near entrance door rather then by the bathroom. At night this could be a hiccup for a more elderly visitor.
Not Impressed
Room fairly clean apart from the part used shower gel left in the bathroom! The bedroom furniture was very tatty including big holes in the chair seat. I've seen better in a dis-used community centre. At £140 a night, room only, not impressed. On the bright side the young girl who checked us in was lovely. Oh and there's no restaurant facilities available if there's a wedding on. You're only told this after booking.
Next to big park =>nice; it is shabby, terrible odour in our room.
Staff were really nice and always tried to be very helpful. Breakfast was well worth the money. The toiletries they give you are very nice. However what spoiled my stay was that I didn't like the rooms. The room was very worn. All wooden surfaces (desk, bedside table, etc) were all warped due to water damage (I suspect). The bottom of the bath tub was also damaged. The shower was pittiful. No water pressure and leaked down the side of the pipe so water sprayed the ceiling. I stayed in an economy room that was booked for 2 people, and I am so glad it was just me staying there in the end. There was barely any space in the room. I felt claustrophobic in there! And I am only small! I had to walk sideways past the bed to get to the bathroom. And the toilet was behind the bathroom door so made accessing the toilet very awkward. The closest fire exit was marked as unavailable due to maintenance yet there was no explanation at the front desk, and you had to go up to the fire exit door to find out about he issue. No warnings en route to the fire exit. This is a great safety concern! I asked to move rooms and got told there were no rooms they could move me to, but that they would keep an eye out if one became available.
Meh..
The hotel is very average. In terms of details taken care for the host. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and with only 2 pillows. The bathroom was kind of depressing. I think a make over could make it look cooler since the building is really nice and it has a good location ( away from the city) but good location in terms of what’s around this place. The breakfast and the good will of the people who work there are a big plus though. Cheers!
Our room was very small, but otherwise ok. But our friends room was terrible. Peeling Wallpaper, dirty carpet, mould on the curtains. They did gat moved, but the room shouldn’t be being used really
Great hotel
Great hotel, couldn’t find any negative to say, all good
Ok
Ok but room was above kitchen so nousy extraction fan. Windows limited opening stopping adequate fresh air movement
Mark this Hallmark!
Very good food and service and location
My sister & I stayed for one night & we thoroughly enjoyed it. the room was clean & comfortable & staff were friendly. the breakfast was lovely.
Ok for the price but never again
For the price it was ok the room was small to say the least the bed was terrible non existent pillows and the shower was dreadful wouldn’t stay here again
Receptionist have warm welcome and the lady serving at the bar was also friendly her service was exceptional food bar snacks were good
Good location with parking. Comfortable bed. The actual room could have done with being a bit bigger
Friendly staff, poor maintenance
Reception was welcoming, we were informed about a wedding happening the next night and told some facilities not being available and were offered ear plugs if required (which they were not needed for). The breakfast buffet was nice with a reasonable amount of choice. All staff we encountered were polite and friendly. The outisde of the hotel looks nice and there is a little terrace and patio garden out the back. The downside is the maintenance of the hotel. You can see the interior is tired and needs a refresh. Our room was comfy but had a few niggles- the shower head fell off whilst my husband was using it causing him to get a bump on his head, he manged to clip it back in and still use it. The bathroom windows were open when we arrived and I found a handle of one of them on the floor. The bath panel had peeling paint on its side and the fan in the bathroom didnt work either. It is such a shame because the hotel could be so much better but unfortunately it is not and that is just down to the poor maintenance of the property.
Spacious room for our family and large bathroom. All very clean. Staff were very helpful. Free parking. Overlooking the park and close to lots of bars, restaurants and independent shops. Quiet for sleeping during the night.
Amazing setting, staff very helpful, wish we could of stayed longer
Very good
Really nice hotel in great location to Sefton park. Nice and quiet and room was lovely. Could have done with a bit more detail cleaning but was ok with it. Book breakfast the evening before or they charge more. Would use again.
Fantastic place.
Amazing hotel.
The room I had was OK. It was a twin room - but the second bed was shoved in front of the window. The paintwork in the room was rather shabby. The staff were pleasant. I was served a pint of Guinness by a lovely young lady who had no experience of bar work, her manager did not help. The beer lines need cleaning properly...I could not drink what I had ordered.
A disastrous stay. There was a wedding that day and little service for regular guests and loud music during the night I gave up in despair and left at 5 a m missing the breakfast I'd paid for Shocking time.
Shabby Executive room
I chose the Executive room, however it was not the one I expected, shabby, dark and blocked drain smell in hallway and bathroom with water coming through bath plug hole.
The back patio were people could sit out and the outside lights.
Thr staff was amazing. We got in late and they were waiting to take care of us. Heloed with taxi and bus schedules too.
The telephone in the room was not working and the shower was dated and difficult to use. Nevertheless the service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful
Room card kept getting blocked. Only 1 staff member trying to do everything. Needs ventilating properly get rid of food smell from kitchen
Friendly helpful staff. Location was nice but not convenient for getting to the city .
Good accommodation.
Perfectly adequate accommodation, excellent and convenient setting. Good cooked breakfast served buffet style so OK for vegetarians. Bathroom could have done with a little maintenance but fully functional.
I love that the building is old and situated across from a park. The whole hotel needs a makeover. The walls are damaged and scuffed, doors dirty and scuffed, bedroom furniture old and flaking. The doors are really noisy and slam. Not a peaceful night sleep either, including emptying of glass into glass bin at 7am outside my bedroom window.
Decent for the price, easy parking
For the price this is a good find, bar was closing when we got there so limited in that respect, room was decent albeit a little dated, small bathroom. But very decent for the price
