Terrible hotel. I was emailed days before arri requesting if I would cancel housekeeping. I never heard of a hotel doing this. I checked in and the lobby not as depicted in website. I also got a different room than what I reserved. I went back to reception after seeing the room, only to be told all the rooms were the same except for bed size. The room had old decor and a very old carpet. NOT as depicted. As I couldn't call the front desk I had to go to the lobby again to request additional towels, only to be told that they don't have washcloths. How do you shower with liquid soap without a washcloth? So I had to go out to buy one. I ask for basic directions and orientatio to the area , but everything was so sketchy that I had to rely on my tourist map and my cell phones navigating app. The bed was very uncomfortable... I tossed and turned all night and woke up with body aches. Breakfast was mediocre at best and limited. When I got back that evening housekeeping had come into my room, despite my cancelling housekeeping at the front desk that morning . For some reason housekeeping removed ALL the towels in the room. They made the bed sloppily and emptied the waste basket. I had drank a cup of tea the night before and housekeeping did not touch the cup. Outrageous. I had to go to the front desk again and they could not explain why housekeeping removed all the towels from my room. They simply handed me towels they keep in a room behind the desk. Terrible place.

Nice Stay

Overall it was a nice hotel. The room was not soundproof, and being on the first floor meant hearing people in the dinning room/restaurant as well as other people in rooms. Not a modern hotel, but it was clean, which is always good. Reception was great, and house keeping were great too.

Good location. Room well furnished. Helpful staff. Easy parking. Dark streets around. Cafeteria doubled up at night as restaurant but it was run as an independent concession. When I tried to get a table, I was told I needed reservations, even though half of the tables were empty. Thus, we had to go elsewhere.

We stayed four (4) nights - the dirty glasses were not replaced, the coffee was not replenished. The internet was not very good. On a positive note the staff were excellent, the breakfast was excellent, the rooms were very big. I hate to indicate negative comments.

Will be great when refurbished

Situated in a quiet street near the station. The rooms are a very good size but the whole hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment - indeed we were informed that this is going to happen later in the year.

The rooms are okay. They’re clean and fairly comfortable. The area around the hotel is under long—term, heavy construction. No parking. Indifferent staff. The breakfast is just barely mediocre.

Can't really go wrong with the key basics.

The Lindner is not a luxury hotel but is very functional and extremely well positioned. In around a day and a half I was able comfortably to visit the cathedral, the river, the chocolate museum and the major shopping area, primarily by walking. I didn't use the hotel's restaurant but the menu looked good and had I stayed longer, most likely would have. I visited during cold weather and the heating in the room was very efficient. As with many european hotels, TV channels were not for English speakers, unless all you wish to view are news channels. This means that those with kids or solo travellers would be advised to take some pre-downloaded movies etc on a tablet. or some such. Or make sure you have a VPN so you can view your normal domestic channels. The staff were super, very accomodating and easy to talk with.

Other than the view of construction across the street, our stay was great!

Astounding hotel

The hotel is very close to the train station, which is why we chose it. The room was very nice, the front desk is exceptional, and the breakfast was the best I've ever had in any hotel anywhere. Highly recommend.

Overall was very good, the only disappointment was the water in the room was not free and wanting 6euros for it.

Overall stay was very comfortable and breakfast buffet was excellent. Room's were very comfortable and clean. The place is easily walkable from Cologne railway station, cathedral and shopping. Bookings from expedia did not reflect on their system so initially I was told I do not have a booking. Subsequently they found this but the check in time was too long.

Just great. So nice lady at the desk for my checkin, helpful and professional. Room excellent, great bathroom, huge tv screen. Loved the Frankfurt-Stuttgart match! The health club is superb, massive gym and lovely pool. Great dinner and again superb service (guy with beard), excellent quality food. Breakfast great! I am very critical of hotels as I travel a lot but this was just ***** in every aspect. Well done the Lindner team, Cologne!

Basic room, noisy, view if construction site, breakfast €28 pp,

Hotel was centrally located close the rail station which was 15 minutes from the airport. Cologne Cathedral was a five minute walk away. Our room was lovely and clean and a decent size compared to many city center hotels we have stayed in.

I enjoyed my stay here, the staff were friendly and helpful. They allowed me to check-in early after a long trip, I was so grateful. Nice rooms, comfy bed. The buffet breakfasts were excellent, nice quiet atmosphere also, if you eat early. I really recommend it.

We really like the location, and the staff was great. We had trouble distinguishing which elevator button was for the ground level it was an "E". LOL

3 rd time I’ve stayed there when visiting Cologne. Reasonable price, good rooms and the perfect location!

Schoenes und komfortables Hotel

Es war ein kurzer Städte Trip der uns in dieses Hotel geführt hat. Es ist zentral in der Nähe des Bahnhof gelegen und man ist in ein paar Minuten in der Einkaufsstrasse oder am Rhein. Die Mitarbeiter dort sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend zu uns gewesen, das Zimmer und auch das Bad sind sauber und ansprechend. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und gehen auch gerne wieder hin.

This is a great hotel. Only about 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral and about 7 minutes walk to the Central station. The room is quite big. Bed is quite comfortable, staff is very friendly. Fully recommend this hotel.

Fantastic hotel in Cologne

This hotel really was fabulous, the rooms were comfortable, really central for exploring the City. Staff were all super friendly! Special mention for the young man working on reception-he could not do enough for us, explaining the local area, drawing us maps etc. Also the young man working in the bar was fantastic. I will definitely stay at this hotel again & I do not hesitate to recommend.

Very good breakfast. Excellent location, close to everything, but not too close! A bit of confusion regarding our booking but was resolved eventually.

Disappointed

If I search for a hotel with the criteria sauna I expect it to be working when I arrive...….. first time I use hotels.com not a great start is it...….Sauna was in repair for the full time of booking. The hotel was fine they did their job unfortunately hotels.com didn't do theirs...……..

Brilliant service, huge rooms and a pool

We had a wonderful stay.. although we stayed only for a night, everything was perfect. It would have been even more perfect if they would have kept a bottle of mineral water. It overall it was perfect.. the swimming pool was an icing on the cake..

Xmas market

Had a lovely stay with 5 other friends. Central hotel easy for the Xmas markets. Breakfast was fab, so much choice. Ate in the restaurant the first night. Food choice was limited. Asked to be seated by the window, to take in the pretty lights, no one else in the restaurant, we were told a definite NO. Took up the offer of selecting not to have clean towels, but free mini bar! No brainer really.

They are connected with SPA facilities with a wonderful whirlpool! Plus the hotel has a policy when staying 2 nights or longer: if you don’t required your room serviced everything in the minibar is free (beer, soda, water, snacks)!

While we and our friends booked this hotel with breakfast included, the hotel charged us for breakfast! We have tried to obtain a refund and they are ignoring our request. We cannot recommend this hotel for this reason.

Had a great experience here. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, air conditioning worked well through the heat wave. Breakfast has a great selection of fresh foods. Super close to the Cathedral, but far enough away not to me loud.

Love this place! Chic design (building and room) with everything you need. Breakfast buffet expensively priced but an incredible array of food choices in a beautiful eating area. 24-hour reception always helpful and knowledgable - all speak gotsod English. Room does not need to be vacated until noon and they will store your luggage at reception if you are leaving later in the day. Very close to the main station, shopping streets, etc. Deal through Hotels.com was excellent value.

Great hotel and convenient to train station.

The room was spacious and clean. The location was convenient for the city centre and the railway station. Some of the staff were indifferent to the point of rudeness.

Clean and comfortable room. Conveniently close to main train station and cathedral. However, it’s not a top quality hotel: Hot and cold water mixer in shower needs to be fixed. If somebody uses cold water in the sink or even somewhere on other rooms, the shower becomes dangerously hot. My mom got burned while showering when water abruptly became very hot. Also, they need to put Wifi routers in the floors. Wifi was very weak, slow and sometimes altogether gone in the room, but strong in the common dining area. No apology was offered by staff for these problems.

This was a spacious, quiet, convenient hotel with a superb breakfast. One of the best hotel buffets we have seen in Europe. High quality food, huge choice. Excellent drinks.

Stayed here for 1 night during a pit stop in Cologne. Location is excellent, amenities are quite good and cost included a good breakfast spread.5 mins to the HBF, little more to the Alter Markt. So if you're like me and you like staying close-to the action vs. in it, this would be a good option for Cologne. Would stay again.

Nice enough

5 mins walk from the railway station and cathedral. Rooms were reasonably priced but food menus a bit steep for our budget but that wasn't a problem since there are plenty of nice places to eat in Cologne

2 nights in Cologne 1st-3rd December

We came for the Christmas markets and were not disappointed. Make sure you have spare room in your case for all the goodies that you can buy. The hotel was well located for the closest markets and the impressive Cathedral. Visit the chocolate museum if you have time.

Nice hotel. Just remember there is another hotel with a similar name called "REsidenz" or something like that just around the corner. A lot of people mistake the two. We were only there for the night. Close to train station (Koln HBF) and the Dom. Plenty of places to eat all around. Staff is very friendly.

Close to station and cathedral, good location for city and its attractions. Clean and comfortable in most respects but the room was very warm and the air conditioning is not very efficient- I thought it wasn't working as after being on for 1 hour the temperature had risen from 23.5 to 24 degrees, I was told that it would only lower the temperature to 22.5 degrees and I would need to wait longer and they recommended opening the window but because it is a city location it meant that it was rather noisy until the early hours.

A good choice

A short walk from the station and cathedral it is well located. Staff are helpful and friendly. In room coffee making facilities would have been useful and you should note the restaurant closes on Sunday evenings as do many restaurants in town. The breakfast buffet is quite excellent - highly recommended

Stayed here for a night on our wedding anniversary road trip to Europe. Staff was very helpful and friendly. It's within walking distance to the beautiful bridge of Cologne and the tall building where you can see the 360 view of the city on the top floor. Have very much enjoyed the walk as you get to see beautiful scenery along the way. Breakfast was excellent and top quality! Love the pancake making machine. Parking was so convenient in the hotel too.

Very central location, room was very good and awsome air conditioning. There were a couple of eating locations close by and within a 20min. Walk we found a outdoor strip mall.

The location is perfect. Close to the DOM, train station, the river, and many restaurants. The breakfast was really good at the hotel.

Very good hotel. Only the wlan (Free) is terrible. Once you have chosen the free option, it’s hardly impossible to switch to the premium version (ca. 8 € a day).

Great stay in Cologne

It’s in a wonderful location just a few blocks from the train station. All the staff is wonderful, breakfast is amazing. If I ever return to cologne I would definitely stay here again.

Great Location

The Hotel is very centrally located and close to the main tourist attractions and shops and cafes. The room was wonderfully large and clean. Apart from the shower being a bath/ shower combination, I could not find fault with the room facilities. Breakfast was nothing short of amazing with fresh produce and a very large selection of pastries, meats and cheeses.
