We paid for a Queen room but we got a double room instead. Aircon didnt work most nights and the TV did not work. Location was good, next to a high street and some lovely restaurants. Toilet roll was not replaced most days. Thankfully we weren’t intending on spending much time in the Hotel room, otherwise it would have been a problem.
Lovely spot, highly recommended!
The hotel is right near the Metro (Ottaviani), and very close to the Vatican. Superb setting. Quiet street and interior courtyard. Staff was most helpful; easy to check in and out. Room was serviced every day, clean and well kept. Much appreciated!
Loved the stay!
Roberto and his staff were absolutely amazing and so welcoming. Stayed here with another friend and honestly had a great time. The rooms are really modern and well kept and Roberto was very accommodating and lovely! Great location too and amazing room keeping with a great price. Stayed for three nights and would definitely come back!
I truly do not understand why there are so many negative reviews about this hotel… I do not have a single negative thing to say about it. This was my first trip to Europe, and it was a solo trip. Upon arrival, (Jose or Julio, I can not remember his name unfortunately…) was so kind and accommodating. He spoke wonderful English and was a great conversationalist—making me feel immediately at home. They checked me in quickly and efficiently and even showed me everything inside the room and stayed for any questions I may have had. The room itself was so beautiful, and it was perfect for one, at max 2 people. The bed was extremely comfortable and the tv and wifi worked great. Everything was very clean and they cleaned your room daily. They were prompt when you called them, no matter what time it was. I had to call the manager (I did not catch her name), at 10pm and she was very kind and helped me with my issue right away. The hotel is very safe and secure and the area surrounding the hotel is very safe and located near everything you may need. It is also a very short walk away from the Vatican, and all transportation modes. I know that I am writing a lot, but I am blown away at how amazing my stay was, especially when there are so many negative reviews. I recommend everybody stay here. It was so affordable, and they truly outdid themselves. I will stay in this hotel every time I am in Rome! Thank you for making my first trip so comfortable and easy!
Very convenient, great dining options close by, clean room,
It’s just another “help yourself” hotel. You’ve sunken to AIRBNB standards. Not a hotel!
Warm welcome by Roberto, shown to the room. Room very clean, definitely recommend.
Convenient location for everything Bathroom not safe for seniors especially nothing to hold on and no shower curtains. Coffee machine not working We originally booked for two twin bed but was given 1 king size bed which is difficult because my son had severe cough and colds.
Be aware of hidden charges like late arrival fee of 50 Euros!
Great Property,Friendly staff in a great location
I booked the hotel after 7.00 pm and I was coming from far away. Therefore I check in online. However when I arrived at the property, there was nobody and I called the given number at the door. The manager very rudely told me she would not let me in. I still had a good 5 hours of paid time at the hotel. Then she hanged up the phone on my face. Me and my husband had to come to car and sleep there. Now they are not even giving us the refund. I would call it a theft of my money and time. I have never faced such a difficult situation. My husband is very sick he really needed that 5 hours of sleep.
Great location only a few blocks from the Vatican and Tibor River.
After loosing our plane, we arrived after checking time (3-9pm). We warned the owners that we will arrive at 11pm. Owner ask 50€ for late checkin which is written in hotel condition. However, owner didn’t wait for us, but owner sent us a code to acess. So he made us pay 50€ for a code !!! After a revew on google, he replied that he was there. He is lying ! Check other reviews and book another hotel…
Really small rooms.
Everything was good. Thank you
Really comfortable, modern room in a quiet street close to the Vatican and Metro station. The staff were super helpful.
The manager, Mrs. Antonella kicked us out and her assistant closed the door behind us. We lost our money (5 days total) and our integrity was put at risk in a foreign country. NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR TOURIST. Do not risk your money not put yourself, family or friends at risk. Check previous reviews and pay close attention to the complains. This place is not what you see on the website. The manager, Mrs. Antonella, offered us a different room and got mad when we do not accept it, then she offered us another, but her attitude changed. Her lack of managerial skills, and being the only staff there was a huge problem. Mrs. Antonella offered us to "go out and find a five star hotel" if we did not accept the room she was offering to us. Another red flag was all the construction in front and around the area, and she never told us anything about it. After Mrs. Antonella kicked us out, we were outside, very vulnerable and lost. This "hotel" was our worst experience ever as worldwide travelers. ***Keep an eye to the next reviews with a perfect score after this one. ***
Not good value for the price
Nice
Very nice property close to the St Peters
Everything was excellent. All staff were very helpful and accommodating. Very clean and quiet rooms. All services needed are available almost immediately outside the boutique hotel. Staff can communicate in Spanish and English in addition to Italian.
The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Antonella and Jose were great and assisted us with everything we needed. The hotel is located within walking distance to the Vatican Museum, St. Pete’s Basilica, and Sistine Chapel. There are many shops and restaurants around. We had a great stay. I would recommend this hotel.
"Very well located, allowing you to walk to all the tourist attractions. Very spacious, though the structure is a bit old and shows some wear."
Great stay. Friendly staff and very clean room. There are a couple of metro lines close by which are about a 5/10 minute walk and only an 8 minute walk from the Vatican. I did walk past the hotel entrance twice before I realised it was the entrance as it looks residential.
Was very happy
Understaffed and not so comfortable. I gave notice about my late checkin due to flight arrival, they never answered back and when I got there charged me 60€ for “not sending a notice” which I did and show them proof.
One night the maid forgot to put clean towels, even I communicate with Antonella to let her know that I needed towels and she answered my messages, but she didn't show. So I had have to take a shower and dry out my self with 2 of my T-shirts. GRGRGRGRGRGR
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Les Chambres hotel, which was marred by a series of unacceptable issues and poor management practices. I hope this letter will highlight the need for urgent improvements in your services and customer care. Upon my arrival, I was forced to wait outside the hotel for over an hour in hot weather as the manager, Antonella, was not available to assist with the check-in process. Despite numerous attempts to contact her via phone, there was no response. This is not the level of service I expected, and it was an extremely frustrating start to my stay. During my stay, the following issues occurred: Housekeeping Neglect: Housekeeping was never done during my stay. I found myself without basic necessities, such as toilet paper, and was forced to use the bidet, which was leaking. I have photographic evidence of this issue. Plumbing Issues: The sink in my room was clogged throughout my stay, making it difficult to use. I also have pictures documenting this issue. Safety Concerns: The door to my room would not lock properly, posing a significant safety risk. There was no staff available on-site to assist or address this concern, which left me feeling unsafe. Lack of Air Conditioning: The air conditioner in my room was not working, making the room uncomfortable, especially given the warm weather outside. Throughout my entire stay, there was no staff presence at all
Worst hotel experience
Manager Antonella was extremely rude. We arrived and there was no one at property, we waited outside under extremely hot conditions for over an hour, I kept calling her but she wouldn’t answer. My rooms door never locked, room wasn’t cleaned, no housekeeping available, I ran out of toilet paper, had to use bidet but it was leaking ( I took pictures), the sink continuously got clogged, water wouldn’t go down. The AC broke down, room was extremely hot. Antonella was nowhere to be found the 2 days I stayed, there was no staff in the hotel.
I stayed for 10 days and had a great experience! Clean, comfortable, affordable option with lots of access to close public transportation while still easily walkable around the Vatican and towards Rome. Tasty dining and supermarkets are very close. Roberto and the room-cleaning staff were extremely nice and friendly!
Convenient and friendly
Central hotel. The gent who checked us in didn’t speak the best English but was super helpful and once checked in did not see again I had 1 time I needed him after check in I called the number for contact and he answered and helped with my enquiry of keeping my suitcase in the room for 2 hours past check out so was very accommodating
Roberto was amazing and very helpful with any questions and making sure you understand how everything works . Place had great air conditioning as well and minutes away from the Vatican and many restaurants walking distance .
A really good location for seeing sites and attractions. Easy walk to central Rome and the Vatican.
Roberto was absolutely accommodating and nice. Very pleasant stay
Great experience at chambre d'or. Strongly recommended for short stays
Area in construction, hotel in 3rd floor. Room was nice and with air conditioning in excellent conditions, great size for the 4 of us. We would have liked to know that there was no breakfast included. The shower was a bit dirty. Other than that good service and location.
It was great! Although it was a bit hard to contact the owner so if you’re arriving late I’d recommend you have a local SIM card so you can call them
Very great spot to stay at and lovely staff.
Great location! 5 minute walk to the Vatican, 10 minute walk to Saint Peter’s. Close to sites but quiet and not touristy at all. Staff is accommodating!
Very comfortable and tidy. Felt good and safe to be there.
The place is excellent, Antonella was happy to help with anything. The proximity to the Vatican is excellent it’s about a 5 minute walk.
Not bad
Everything was excellent.
The staff was very welcoming. But it was a bit noisy at night. You could hear other travellers in the hall way.
Awesome service! And very conveniently located.
This hotel was perfect for us. Very affordable and exactly the restful spot we needed between excursions. The owner was very nice and the area had everything we needed.
Excellent! Really enjoyed my stay, thx!
Very comfortable bed, walking distance to St Peter
We arrived early and Antonella was able to provide our rooms for us. The room was nice & clean. Bathroom is a bit small, but to be expected in the city. Bed was very comfortable. Great cafe's and restaurants close by. St Peters is walking distance to hotel. Taxi row is right by the cafe down the street. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Rome
antonella was a great host , nice stay, close to most important points
Everything was amazing! Staff was a bit hard to find.
A bit tight but very nice and clean, very close to the Vatican City so that was a huge plus for me.
Clean place
It is close to the Vatican, dont expect too much for the price, but very decent property
Staff was so helpful..very convenient place Great value for money..Roberto offered us a bigger room when he knew that this is our honey moon
Great location, room ideal for sleep and freshen up, basic tea/coffee facilities.
Perfect Stay in Central Rome
I had stayed in this hotel once then i came back to it again. I had an amazing stay at this hotel in the heart of Rome. The location is perfect, just steps away from the Vatican and amazing restaurants around the hotel. The hotel was spotless, and the rooms were impeccably clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Rome.
The people there were the nicest. I had to be there around 9 45 pm, and the guy waited for me and showed me everything around. Next day I had to change rooms and when I came back to do that, the desk lady was so friendly and considerate. An amazing experience overall. Walking distance to the Vatican. If you are a solo traveler, perfect place to spend the night.
Clean and comfortable
Good value. Great location
I give it a five star for a reason. The price we paid was reasonable. The location is great!! The owners were friendly, simple people and very accommodating. They treated us with respect. While the room we had was pretty basic, it was clean and quiet! And that’s all I need from a hotel. The owners had a different prospective what a “queen” size bed was, but they were kind enough to accommodate our request and upgraded us to a room with a bigger bed which was in fact a QUEEN size. Thank you Antoinette and Roberto for being great hosts! We’ll come back again.
My husband and I had a lovely stay and enjoyed the room and location. Our only complaint would be the noise coming from the hallway at night and in the morning. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
Close to Vatican, and walkable to other tourist attractions. Some good reasonable restaurants nearby. Quiet area at night. Rooms serviced each day. This property is getting tired, some things broken. No bed side lamps for reading,no bathroom shelf. Bathroom very small, had to get past sink to go to toilet.....would have been extremely difficult for a large person. Didn't look like photos. Very overpriced for a basic room to sleep in.
I have never left a bad review before but here I just must. I stayed in this hotel for combined 3 night, after the first night I was supposed to leave back home but got robbed and had all my documents and money stolen. I had to have a friend frantically try to book a hotel for me and I told him to book the same but being stressed he initially selected the wrong date. Immediately called Expedia that immediately contacted the property- no answer. My friend made an additional reservation for the right date being unable to cancel the other one, once I checked in I repeatedly asked reception to help us cancel it and explained my situation, the manager in a very irritated way kept telling me to call Expedia. We did again, Expedia emailed again and again and finally on day 3 we got a “no” the rooms isn’t refundable they don’t care it was a mistake; they don’t care I was robbed and now have to pay 600$ for a hotel room booked in error and I won’t be using, on top of having everything I have stolen. I am an avid traveller and I have never seen this lack of humanity and integrity from a business. I highly do not recommend this place because if something god forbid goes wrong they will not treat you well and that’s not what you want in a foreign country.
Its very close to the Vatican, metro and other Rome sites.
It has different national restaurant plus people in the area are so helpful and approachable.
very basic
Great location and good value for money if you pay 100euro or less.
The place was convenient, clean and walkable. The difficulty was the availability of blankets and a little bit noisy.
Basic bed and toilet in room
Hotel well if you call it that. Is good for location only. Hotel says reception open 2 to 9pm. Only saw them first day. Breakfast included. Not even a location. Just a basic room and toilet on over used worn out mattresses. They did make bed, dump garbage, and give fresh towels each day. Room is goos if you just need a bed to sleep. Nothing i mean nothing else.
Quick problems -the first day there was an issue with their rooms so they put us in another hotel (they handled this process horribly) -shower not draining -no towels in room -ac didn’t work -left two stained pillows in our room in the window to air out? and came into our room while we were at dinner to take them away without telling us I had a really terrible experience at this hotel. The first night we arrived at 6pm, well after checkin time and were not buzzed up to the room after speaking with reception over the phone. Someone from the building let us in on the way out and after knocking on the door to the hotel the receptionist said “I know you’re there please wait” after sitting on the floor outside the door for a good 15-20 minutes she let us in. After passing us off to another hotel (San Valentino Hotel), she told us to come back to her hotel the next day since we had two nights booked. The SV hotel was much better. It would be one thing if it was just one problem but it was just issue after issue with this place.
It's ok the place.
The host was absolutely amazing and accomodating to my late check out request. Perfect location to walk to the Vatican in a few minutes, yet at the end of a quiet street.Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Will recommend.
Great location, Vatican City at walking distance, subway a block away, great restaurants and cafeterias in the area to choose from. Friendly staff and clean rooms, well taken care off 👍 Definitely recommend this place.
I was very nice service and room
10/10
We checked in at 5pm, so no problems at all. The location is excellent though the hotel is slightly difficult to find. Very secure building, close to Vitican (5minutes walking). Lots of restaurants near, close to metro station.
This property was great. Wonderful location and convenient
Boutique hotel
This a boutique hotel so limited front desk / reception assist. Make sure your are familiar with check in. We had to store our bags in a locker as no one was available till early afternoon. Very convenient location and felt very safe. Room was small but had its own bathroom with typical European shower. Really too small for 2 adults.
Solid 4-Star stay.
For the price, this can't be beat. But that does come with some downsides. Staff, check-in, and amenities were nice. They have A/C for the Americans reading this. Things I had the hardest time with was the bathroom smelled strongly of cigarettes. Too strong. The sheets were clean. Only thing I did not appreciate was that there was no way to put a "Do Not Disturb" on the door. Location was excellent, but then again most competitors are. Solid stay. Would recommend to anyone traveling alone or with one other, not for families but great for groups of 1 or 2.
This property was not bad as to the location to the Vatican. The room was tight the bathroom was tiny. We didn’t have a blanket the first night. They charged us $50 for late checking (less than an hour) and the lights were on a motion detector next to the bed so every time I moved in bed the lights would go on. Won’t stay here again for any price.
Clean and quiet. Close to Vatican and St.Peter's Baslica. Close to shopping and restaurants.
If possible, book elsewhere.
Not the best, but location was great. 7/10 cleanliness. My flight was delayed for two hours and I arrived later than expected. They charged me 50 Euros for a late charge. This was never disclosed to me when booking. If possible book somewhere else.
Our stay was good. The hotel is near vatican city and has a lot of options of restaurants near by. The cleaning man was not helpful, we asked for more pillows he said NO. We asked for late checkout and he wasn’t there when we came back for the luggages. But besides that everything was great.
Roberto and Antonella super amazing people! My room was super clean and gorgeous!
I believe Roberto is the manager and his customer service was excellent. He was the only staff member we met besides the cleaners, and only saw him on 2 occasions, otherwise nowhere to be seen. The room was fairly spacious and with the basic amenities of a kettle, hair dryer, TV, fridge, safe, toilet, sink, and shower. The bathroom plumbing all worked fine, temperature and pressure were great. Actual design of the shower meant that water spilled out everywhere, including down the step into the room. Cleanliness was fine, but inconsistent. The towels provided each day weren't always the same size so some days we didn't have big towels for showering. The glasses we used weren't taken for cleaning. Empty bags that we wanted which we put on shelves were binned. Bedsheets were not properly cleaned, with hairs on them some days. The main room light made a very annoying buzzing whenever it was on, quite loud and high pitched but low enough to notice easily. The aircon was also very noisy and sounded like it's really past needing a maintenance check and clean. The room above us kept banging non-stop literally all night on one of the nights, beyond 1am, making it hard to sleep, but we're not even sure if that room or the rest of the building even belongs to Les Chambres d'Or. Finding the place was hard enough as we went to the address stated, walked up all the stairs, only to get nowhere, walked back out and ran into Roberto who took us to the right place(next building).
I was leery but not for long....
I was leery of staying because of the low star rating. I was very pleased to find a comfortable clean room. Just what we needed for our one night stay before going to St Peters Basilica.
The location is very convenient (close to Vatican and restaurants are on the same street), check-in was quick, room was clean & spacious enough for 4 adults, beds were comfortable, and the building had an elevator.
Unbeatable location! 2 blocks from the Vatican and subway station. Lovely area with infinite street cafes and restaurants. Hotel is not quite a boutique hotel as they call it. Staff doesn’t speak full english but they make it work. Thankful for the air conditioning.
This was a wonderful stay! Room was clean, staff was friendly and accommodating. We loved the area and there were so many amazing restaurants. Everything is walking distance very close to Vatican City!! Would stay again for my next trip and highly recommend!!
Great location for Vatican. Clean room. Front desk staff ok, if u have allergies beware they pipe strong perfume piped thru lobby.
Terrible check in - we waited 45 minutes not knowing if we had a room despite booking in order. Nobody for any service at the hotel, we had some issues and could not find any one. The room is not as nice as on the pictures. Bad smell.
For 350$ for nights We waited until 4;30 when we been told some one . The show has clogged for 3 days and for 2 rooms Glass got to 2 of us because wasn’t clean Towels was not charged because the policy is after 3 days No clear the is in apartment different area For some one don’t speak Italian the communication was very good area great, The place has potential if served right
Noise Poorly managed Manager did not do any of the tasks she said The construction noise every day was ridiculous
Friendly staff
The location was perfect walking distance. Check in took a long time (we emailed that we would be a little late with no answer). we didnt have any toilet paper in the room. At all. When i asked for some toilet paper we were given paper towel.... for the price of the room... i expected toilet paper. The front desk person was curt (boarderline rude) and was not there when we checked out.... not impressed.
Not what you see in pictures. Not standard hotel.
The reception is located far from the rooms, need to walk blocks and hard to find.Very small room. They charge €3.50/pay/day city tax even after paying extra for taxes in booking. Very stingy in toilet rolls, one per day, very tiny soap and sachet of shampoo. Not enough to clean body. Cups never washed. Used inner duvet for bed sheet. Carpets not cleaned and toilet seat no cover.
horrible stay for a vacation
I would say to everyone, never stay here. buffet was sad, service horrible, room smelled like cockroach spray, elevator was 300 years old, no heater, bathroom sucked, I stayed here because 7 or so years ago it was nice and quaint. now it has moved across the street(it was hard to find) to an ugly place. do not stay here.
Incredible location close to the Vatican
The very best thing about this hotel was its location a few blocks away from the Vatican. there were a number of great bars, markets, street vendors and restaurants with a block or two of any direction--public transportation (metro, bus and tram stops) were all within a couple blocks away, although we were able to walk to the Colliseum, Trevi Fountain, Foro di Roma and Vatican Museums. The hotel was very old and small, and the bathroom shower was tiny. This seems pretty standard for the area though. Despite these drawbacks, the location couldn't be beat.
Convenient, clean, budget friendly room
I couldn't have asked for a better location with an updated room. I was skeptical before arriving due to the negative reviews, but glad I picked this quaint boutique hotel. It was clean, private, & walking distance to the metro station as well as the sistene chapel. I'm glad I read previous reviews prior to my arrival as the check in location is indeed across the street next to the hotel restaurant- it made for easy stress free navigation after a long travel. Highly recommended & I hope your stay is as pleasurable as mine. Cheers from California!
More an apartment than a hotel
Finding the actual hotel was difficult, it wasn't at the address advised but actually across the street in the middle of a restaurant which was difficult to access with suitcases. The rooms were a fair size for single rooms, but my room only had a small cupboard with 5 coat hangers, no drawer space at all, so nowhere to put underwear/t shirts etc. My companions room had air con. Mine did not. It was over 30 degrees & if you had the window open it was so loud (traffic & refuse collections late into the night) that you couldn't sleep. Also, by leaving the window open you had to deal with flies/gnats etc. The walls are so thin, I could hear the person in the room next to me on the phone. The bathroom was a decent size and the room was clean, however I would not recommend this to anyone who wants/needs a good night's sleep!

Such a beautiful place to stay. It’s peaceful and convenient. Staff are good and helpful.
