The hotel is great, food and service excellent. The lady running the bar and food service was brilliant. A couple of niggles - the shower was a dribble and despite my best efforrs with the heating, the room was a little cool.

The hotel is on a side street off a large shopping street, but toward the end of that strip of stores. A couple blocks away things become more lively. We were glad for the quiet. The room was absolutely lovely with a spa-like bathroom, comfortable furniture, plentiful linens, tea and coffee makers. The food down at the bar was pricey and a little inconsistent, but generally good to terrific. We never had anything bad there. My one comment would be about the charming old staircase up to the rooms. There is an elevator, so you may never get to experience it. But if you do, you may find it a little rickety with worn treads under the carpet.

Lovely property located right in the center, close to all the major attractions. Spacious on-site gated parking and a very generous breakfast. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly. The bar and restaurant stayed open until late, which was very convenient.

Just ok

First room given had a very strong odour of chemicals or paint. Asked to be moved which was actioned but felt like I was an inconvenience to the receptionist. Bed was comfortable and second room was find but Breakfast was cold.

Stayed here with my partner for a night out in Cardiff. This hotel is of a high standard and is located perfectly in the town centre for shopping or activities. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel was comfortable and reasonable for the price. The breakfast was really good too.

Excellent Stay

I booked for my husbands birthday, the hotel is fab and beautifully decorated for Christmas, they upgraded our room and it was huge! The bed really comfortable and plenty of cupboard space with iron if needed. Our room was located down the end so it was very quiet. I checked in on the app so they just gave us our key when we arrived. I did originally book as i wanted a hotel that included parking, but after the booking i had a message to say carpark is £25 on the day if available. There was availability but we parked in NCP which is 5 mins walk and only £12 with the app.

Hotel was great! In a very convenient location, right in the centre and everything is within walking distance. Most of the staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and very nice, I had an issue with one of the lights in the room, in fact when I arrived at the hotel they were already aware and working on it, but even after they fixed it, there was something bothering me with the light and the staff were quick to solve it. Overall it was a really good experience and we very much enjoyed our stay! We were in a junior suite which was very spacious and the bed was excellent! We will return!

The staff were lovely and we had a nice upgrade for our anniversary they were all lovely from start to finish.

Good location poor heating system

Had to move rooms after issues with temperature. We arrived into room with oil filled heater and it was freezing. The reception advised they could adjust room temperature from reception. We left for dinner returned and still cold. Another heater had been added but aircon didn’t seem to be working. After going back and forth we were moved to a different room. Which to be honest heating still temperamental. This really put a downer on our experience. We were in Cardiff celebrating a 60th birthday and annoyed we had to waste time resolving this. When it was clear staff knew there was a heating problem before we arrived.

Don’t seat in room 216

We have been woken up at 3am by somebody moving bins around outside. Even worse there had been a constant noise of water filling up in a system above our heads or a boiler filling up. We are going to check out of our room and drive home. We have a 4 hour drive home. We are so disappointed as we wanted to have a nice break away from home.

This is a good hotel and reasonably priced to stay in Cardiff. I would recommend. Parking is too expensive which is the only negative. Restaurant and bar are decent and the room is a decent size with a good bathroom.

We stay there when we go to the theatre and always have a lovely welcome and fantastic service. Joanna the receptionist was extremely friendly, welcoming and interested in what we were doing. Aina in the restaurant was very helpful making sure we were happy and the other receptionist Banks was a lovely guy very accommodating

Comfortable rooms

Overall a really comfortable stay. Room and bathroom were really lovely although a grab rail to get in and out of the shower would be useful. Staff are great!! My only issue (and this is not the hotel's fault) is that my room faced out onto Queen St. And this meant that the noise from the bars on Churchill Way was noticeable. The hotel has tried to address this with additional soundproofing on windows but I think it would be an impossible task to block it out. So if you can bag a room facing the other way, you'd be fine (I had this in my previous stay and it was fine!). Or if you're using this as a place to stay while out in these (or other!) bars, you'd also be fine. Other than that it's a great place!!

Parking

I tried booking a parking space but the receptionist never did it for me for some reason. I checked if there was a blue badge bay available which there wasn't. I reluctantly tried leaving because I pre-booked parking somewhere else but couldn't becus the barrier wouldn't open. So I paid £50 in parking in total for 24 hours. It should be made clear that if you enter you HAVE TO pay to leave. Also constant humming noise all night from the fans or something outside.

I stayed 3 nights while working in Cardiff. The first room was noisy so I’m the staff moved me to a quieter room who problems and they were very understanding. Sadly the person who n the room next to be played extremely loud noise all night. I knocked on the persons door to ask them to turn it down and was ignored so I spoke with reception who were very polite. In the morning I spoke to the lady on reception and the duty manager as the noise had continued all night. They were very apologetic and arranged for the person to be moved. I understand he was also very rude to reception staff. He eventually left his room and we all had a peaceful night. I cannot praise the staff enough for dealing with a difficult situation and resolving it in a way that worked for everyone. This is a lovely clean hotel with gorgeous staff so stay there!!

Good hotel for business in Cardiff

Stayed before, very convenient for business trips and access to the city centre. Would recommend this hotel.

We had to ask the reception to deal with very loud music that someone was playing in their room late at night, which meant it was head to get to sleep. Then there was an early morning fire alarm, which meant an earlier than planned wake up call on a Sunday. The room was fine although dusty, there was no bottled water, and the pillows were very hard. Bed comfy though and staff friendly. They dealt well with the fire alarm.

Nice big room (we had a jr King room) but the bathroom wasn’t very clean, yellow stains on shower grout, shower screens not cleaned properly and shower head blocked with lime scale also some black stains around shower seals. We arrived in the room and the hand soap was empty, the chamber maids did nothing about this despite “cleaning” the room twice. Although they were cleaned, the bed sheets had some stains that looked like oil on them. When we walked out of the hotel on one occasion there were homeless people sitting on the hotel steps, whilst this is more of a social problem than the hotels fault its not a strong look for the hotel, not that they were causing us any trouble at all. The breakfast was simple but very good, staff were very polite and helpful in reception, hotel bar and restaurant. Located right in the city centre, it’s a great spot for walking around town. The rooms are very noisy though, there was an adjoining door between our room and the next and we could hear the people in there talking clearly, likewise every time the people in the room above us walked around the floor creaked and groaned very loudly… enough to wake us up at 7am… it is an old building, but this isn’t great. To be honest, the location and the staff/service make this worthy of 3 stars overall otherwise it would be less… I wouldn’t stay here again if I could avoid it.

Disappointing check in - took forever and apparently my fault because I followed their advice and checked in online - had to change rooms as our 4th floor room was between 3 and 4 and we made it clear I could not do stairs. Paid for breakfast but first morning not on the list. This is a good Hotel but at the price you expect better process

The hotel is clean and staff are very friendly. It is idle for shoppers as you are right next to the shopping centres. The rooms are comfortable but are starting to look tired and need upgrading. But overall a pleasant stay for a night away for the darts!

Disappointed

The mattress was really hard and uncomfortable. The view from the window was awful and we got woken up early by people talking loudly in the corridor. We were really disappointed considering it’s a 4 star hotel and we paid double what our friends paid in the premier inn and they had comfy beds and a better experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Leonardo's in Cardiff. The staff are amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was good with a great variety. Close to shopping and attractions. Easy to walk around. The bed was very cozy and we had a quiet room.

We enjoyed our stay, the reception staff were extremely helpful on check in. We booked a twin room which had everything we needed, the only negative for us was the view from the window was of a wall less than a metre away, it would of been nice to see the sky and have a view of something

Overall, this hotel is perfect if you want to stay in central Cardiff. You are able to access various places quickly, as you are located to so many restaurants, pubs, stores, and less than 10 minutes (walking) from the Cardiff castle. The room was clean, cozy, and exactly what we needed. The staff are super friendly and try to accommodate you and your needs in anyway that they can. 10/10 recommend!

The hotel is very central . Very friendly staff. The room had air conditioning so it was very comfortable to stay there a specially it was 30 degrees outside. The only think I can complain it were cushions apart everything was great.

Good location and lovely hotel

I had booked 2 rooms here as I was attending a work event in Cardiff with a colleague. The room rates were good and the location great for getting to the event. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from Cardiff Central station and is conveniently located close to the main shopping mall and also a wide range of bars and restaurants. The room was large and clean with a mini bar and safe provided. The bathroom was also clean and well stocked with the usual toiletries, and a good shower head over the bath. My room was to the side of the hotel with another building close to, although the lack of a view didn't worry me. The room was close to the lift lobby, but there was no noise or disturbance although this may be due to it being a midweek stay. I decided to book the breakfast rather than walk into town to find a cafe, and the hot buffet was well stocked with the usual items like bacon, sausage, eggs etc. My colleague has a gluten allergy and there was a supply of breads and rolls which were gluten free and much appreciated. We were only there for one night but I visit Cardiff on a regular basis for work and would be happy to use the Leonardo again should I be in the area.

All very high standard - checking-in, room and facility, breakfast. BUT room service was very much wanting. Food on arrival was excellent BUT ordering at 2140 and food arriving at 2220 is not ideal. Advertised as 24/7 when calling at 2140 (i) could not get an answer on room service and (ii) was told that really I should not order until 2230!

It was a great stay. The hotel did a wonderful job managing the influx of Taylor Swift fans, And both the front desk and the restaurant staff were friendly and personable.
