Excellent location and excellent service

Quick check in / able to leave bags whilst exploring before check in. They managed to arrange an early check in as well thank you

Lovely hotel, definitely recommend

Hotel is lovely, rooms are comfortable and well sized. Staff are helpful and let us leave our luggage both before check-in and after check-out (due to flight times). Well located on the main square, though I'd recommend light sleepers bring earplugs. If we come to Toulouse again, we'll definitely be staying here.

Fantastic location, everything in walking distance. Room was as described and the windows kept out the noise from the street perfectly. Air conditioning only thing that wasn’t great.

Great stay in the heart of Toulouse

The hotel staff were very approachable and quick to help with our needs. I'd recommended staying here to families and friends.

Disappointed

There isn’t much to this hotel! Reception is tiny - a long thin corridor with 2 small desks. The lift is next to one of the desks. We were given a room on the 4th floor. This floor was being worked on. The corridors were masked with tape and polythene and there was banging until 5pm. In the room two lights were broken, one over the bed and one in the bathroom. The bed one was reported but not fixed. The reception area is small. There was nobody in the bar in the evening but there were people enjoying breakfast there in the morning. Our view was an external fire escape. Shame, it was my husbands birthday and I expected a bit nicer.

Comfortable beds and spacious room in a boutique type hotel. Staff were helpful when asked. I’ve stayed her numerous times.

a little more security

I enjoy this hotel a lot. Two things to help improve: 1 curtains need to be more black out as the lights from the street illuminate the entire room; 2. luggage that is left needs to be secure and not left in the lobby. I returned to see my expensive luggage sitting out in the hall where anyone could take it. The staff are always wonderful

Dated, Dirty, and Poorly Secured

Really disappointing hotel. I had one of the most expensive rooms on the property, with the best view, but it was terrible. Stains all over the carpeted bedroom, stains on the sofa, torn bed linens and towels, a half-used bottle of conditioner in the bathroom, etc... On several occasions, I walked directly into the hotel elevator without seeing a single hotel employee. This does not feel secure at all. This hotel does not deserve its star-ranking, and should be avoided.

Great hotel , perfect location for city break in Toulouse.

I loved this hotel! The location mere steps from Place du Capitole is very convenient to everything there is to see and do in Toulouse and beyond. And the Capitole Metro stop is only a 3 minute walk, so it's easy to get to the train, tram and bus stations at Toulouse Matabiau. My room was quiet and well-appointed, though perhaps a bit small for 2 people. I didn’t eat breakfast there so can't comment on that. Finally, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. And Alex went above and beyond to help me with some train and tram schedules for a couple of day trips I was interested in. Highly recommended this property, and would definitely stay here again if I come back to Toulouse.

Perfect location. Classy.

Avoid at all costs. We had booked 2 rooms at this hotel. Both rooms had coffee and other brown stains all down the walls and on the old carpet. Both rooms had live ticks running around the bed, carpet and drapes as if they owned the place. The bedding was also stained and looked lived in. I purposely went for what I thought would be a higher end hotel stay because I wanted to treat myself for the night, but what I ended up with felt more closer to a night of camping. Consider yourself WARNED.

Superb customer service throughout the stay, very friendly, helpful staff. The room was very clean and well appointed. The location could not have been better with easy access to everything. Highly recommend this hotel

A great location within steps from the main square of the city. Rooms and nice and clean.

It would’ve been helpful for the hotel to let us know the streets around around the Capital were secured off as access to the hotel was tricky .

The location of this hotel was amazing. It was right next to La Capitole. I also loved all the L'Occitane products provided in the rooms! My only downside was when we asked the front desk to call us a taxi to the airport. The ride that arrived charged double the rate of an Uber, and when asked why they explained that they were a "private transport service" and not a taxi. I recommend just ordering an Uber for airport transportation, much more affordable!

Excellent location. Comfortable but not a 5 star hotel… 3.5 or 4 maybe. Nice staff but not a remarkable experience. Just a basic hotel to spend the night steps away from the Toulouse Capitole.

Location was key

Got to admit it was a bit underwhelming. I aren’t sure how France rank hotels and allocate stars, but we did wonder how it was awarded 5? Or is it just self appointed?

Good location, Friendly staff, but bad beds

Excellent location, friendly staff, and good breakfast buffet. The hotel is old, mattress was way too soft, and had to reactivated room keys twice. I would have given it 4 stars if it had provided comfortable beds.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The location was great and the room and staff were wonderful.

If I have enough time on business trips I try and stay in town rather than by the airport… and this place is a gem.

The staff were very nice but the room just wasn't clean. There were stains on carpet snd bathroom facilities were not sufficient. The suite was not cooling properly and we sweated through the night. Thought about moving to another hotel, but did not find many hotels in Toulouse that were high end. Ended up staying two painful nights even though the staff was friendly and did not charge us for the breakfast which was very good.

Hotel well situated. Room clean and tidy but bathroom basin very small and plug wouldn’t fit: shower door didn’t fit either and so flooded bathroom floor. The 2 long fancy light fittings situated near bed were badly placed and kept hitting head on them.

Lovely hotel in perfect location .

A very nice hotel with accommodating staff right in the heart of Toulouse. The rooms are nice but small. But who wants to stay in when there’s a lot to do. Getting to the parking garage is a challenge since you have to share the narrow streets with tons of bicycles and pedestrians. And even with their map, it wasn’t evident. Yesterday there was also a major sporting event being screened on the square. Fortunately we arrived before its closure. It would have been helpful if we had been forewarned. But this was an exceptional event and all turned out well. A big shout out to the very nice and helpful young staff!

We arrived early and they kept our bags safe until the room was ready. This isn’t anything new. But they took our bags to the room before we got back. That was nice. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful.

Nice hotel

It was a nice hotel, very good location, the mattress was like a cradle, but fortunatelly for the 3rd night they changed it. I did not buy the breakfast in the hotel, but did find in a block away, an amazing Restaurant with a French chef.

Room cleaning should be improved. They left cleaning rag in the bathroom, there were socks from previous customers on the floor. Cups were dirty. Floor in the cafe on the first floor was dirty and sticky.

night porter clueless and did not give us the code for parking, room dirty, broken coffee machine on an askew board so it kept shifting, carpet and wall next to coffee machine full of stains, bathroom falling apart, coffee capsules were not refilled every day, hotel needs good head housekeeper and refurbishment, otherwise great location if you don't have a car

Le Grand Balcon is Grand!

We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and quiet; our window overlooked a courtyard area and, therefore, seemed private. The bed was a king, which is hard to find in Europe. The shower water had amazing pressure! We were glad to have the fridge for our wine, and water was supplied daily in our room. The room is just as pictured. We were a few steps from the Capitole square. (This area is ripe with activity, protests, homeless, young people!)

Really excellent location and nice room.

The location for this hotel is absolutely perfect and the room was a nice size and quiet. The two issues I had was that 1) it was obvious that a prior guest had spilled coffee all of the wall and rug and the two nights I was there it was not cleaned; it was quite disgusting. 2) morning breakfast was chaos. They ran out of pretty much everything and when you asked for bread or coffee cups or plates they started washing the dirty dishes in front of them and took forever to replenish items. Very disorganized. The best staff was Ryan at the bar. He was friendly, kind and very engaging and made the stay much more personal. The others either did not understand any English or when I spoke the bit of French I knew you could tell none of them cared.

The parking for the hotel was a nightmare on a Saturday. They have no on sight parking so you have to go to a public parking of 467 spots nearby. Unfortunately, on a Saturday not one spot was available and we had to go to another location 1.5 km away to find parking. The staff seemed uninterested when we checked in. Later when we went to the bar, no one was there to serve and I actually had to go find someone. All in all, not a great experience and we have stayed at dozens of hotels in France. A disappointment indeed.

Very nice property in great location!

The location is great - walking distance to many points of interest, dining options and shopping. The room was quiet although it was pretty dark due to the proximity to the building across the street and being on the 1st floor. The hotel needs a refresh - carpet is tired and stained (in the room and corridors, doors look dirty because the white is more off-white, curtains are dusty. Room s very small although I did book above average.

Chose the hotel for the great central location. Amazingly friendly, genuine, and knowledgeable service from the team when checking in late on 29/09/23 and checking out the next morning.

Excellent hotel and a terrific historic area. Close to everything that you want to see in Toulouse.

We’ve stayed in various hotels in Toulouse but decided this is our favourite. Friendly service and nice room. Just a small negative was the air conditioning could be colder.

Recently renovated in a style that’s both chic snd comfortable. A big disappointment though with the the very un-chic way I was treated at check-in. I arrived at around noon, three hours ahead of the official check-in time at 3pm. I travel a lot and when this happens I’m very consistent told that either there is a room available and it will be given to me now, no problem, or, very sorry, there isn’t a room available now but we’ll do what we can to make one available ahead of the official hour. Instead the young woman told me, with a reprimanding Scholl teacher tone in her voice that check in time was three and I could leave my bag ahead if I desired. No rooms would be available ahead of the official time. The message was bad but her tone and attitude was hat was most disturbing - it was the time one might expect (but not always receive) from a government worker at the post. My needs were of zero interest to her and I was simply to get in line with the other cattle to be similarly treated. Not chic at all and not even the empathy I find check in agents generally provide in the most standard hotels. When I questioned the lady who greeted me in her approach, she reluctantly took my phone number snd promised to call hen my room was ready - but I received no call whatsoever. Really tainted my whole experience. You can make a chic environment but if you treat customers like rubbish you are not providing an acceptable experience, much less a luxury one

Average and clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed the breakfast at hotel. The only problem is that the weather was unexpectedly warm and the thermostat would only allow heat. Location was excellent.

The location is excellent, the hotel condition is very good and very clean, comfortable for our travel style. Location was great for us. The staff was just great, extremely helpful, very polite. Highly recommended. Parking a car can be a real adventure.

Wonderful location and history with St Exupéry

Appreciated the Nespresso machines in the rooms.

Disappointed to only have a shower and the double bed was two singles pushed together (not a double mattress) so there was a large gap down the middle which was uncomfortable. But staff lovely and location is great.

A 4 star-experience

The hotel is centrally located, a parking lot is 100m away and separate from the hotel. The staff is friendly. The room was spacious and had a great design, however, in the details one could see it needs a renewal. I did not see any option to do room service. The breakfast was very(!) limited and too expensive. Overall, I would give this hotel 4 stars but definitely not 5.

The location is superb, but I have to say apart from the initial booking in, the service was so so. At breakfast there was no individual tongs or gloves due to covid, bed was comfy but towards the end of its life, bath had shower above but no handle to steady from when leaving. All in all very good hotel in great location but not great hotel

The room was quite small, facing a wall and dark. For the amount I think u are better off getting a room at crown plaza or even crown plaza and get a better view of the capitole. Staff was helpful otherwise.

Needs better air conditioning

Room was great but the airconditionning did not work so it was brutally hot at night

Perfect stay in a perfect location

This is a great hotel! It is right in the center of Toulouse, with all attractions being within walking distance. There is delicious hot breakfast, and a lovely bar in the lobby. The staff is super-nice and helpful. They gave us a great little map that we used for sightseeing. There is no garage on site, but it's right outside under the city square, and the hotel sent helpful directions to it. Overall, a perfect first time in Toulouse, hoping it won't be the last.

Good place to stay in Toulouse

Good stuff: Great location, very convenient, good service No so good stuff: There does tend to be a little bit of noise outside since you're in a very lively part of the city. The carpet inside the room was not very clean, pretty dirty and dusty

Nice hotel. The lobby smelled and the room was a bit stuffy. Great location and comfy room with a big tub and lots of ambience lights.

Weekend Visit

Very pleasant trip to Toulouse - beautiful city. Had visited briefly in 2007 for the Rugby World Cup and very happy to have the opportunity to revisit.

Great location, and staff very good. Hotel really clean and nicely furnished. Amenities good although would have preferred a kettle as well as a Nespresso machine. Powdered condensed milk and tea capsules through the Nespresso was not nice.

Great view, professional, helpful staff, we don’t speak French. We were happy with the bedding and the bathrooms amenities.

Check in was quick and easy with helpful and friendly staff. Great location in Capitol Square. Comfortable and clean room. Nice decor. Needs a bit of upkeep like fixing broken moldings, and repairing things that look tattered and worn out.

Exceeded Expectations

My stay was perfect. I could not ask for a better place. Service, amenities and location better than expected, and the reviews set high expectations. Two days after checking out I realized I left my travel journal in the room, I was over joyed at the fact that the staff had taken the time to realize that it wasn’t trash and had kept it. When I phoned the hotel they even offered to send it to me. I am every so grateful to all of the staff

Great location, nice modern room

Great location (steps from the main square). The hotel has no restaurant, but there are lots of restaurants nearby. (Although avoid Wok to Walk, a few doors down... slow and not very good Chinese takeout.)

The property was listed as a five star hotel, but it is not even close in any way: facilities, staff, or services. It is a nice three star hotel. The photos are very deceiving. Small, dark and worn are the three words I would use to describe it as a five star. Cute, interesting, quaint for a three star. The location is great as others have noted. However, the whole experience was awful as a result of the five star expectation. I would not stay there again.
