Lovely motel in a gorgeous place

Erica was very helpful when we arrived and gave us some great local information. The room was lovely and decorated to a high standard. Lovely outside space to sit. Very peaceful. Had a great night sleep in a comfortable bed. I wish we could have stayed longer in beautiful Akaroa. Would definitely recommend. Thank you

Such a cute and comfortable small motel! The owners clearly put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming place to stay.

Had everything we needed

Room was a good size and we had everything provided that we required. Staff very helpful. Used the washing machine and dryer which was very welcome after travelling around South Island. Lots of restaurants close by and more if you wished to walk a bit further over to the harbour. Worth booking if the area is busy. It was quiet when we were there and a few the restaurants were still fully booked. A quick vacuum of the stairs and the balcony area would have given it a 5 star, but we couldn't fault it overwise. Great couple of nights.

The bed was very comfortable.

Erica the host was friendly n gracious. Her service support was excellent. One kink was the matress when sleeping on it tend to be lop sided to the edge. The other kink was wifi keep losing connection to internet. A more strudy cutting/chopping knife would be good.

Great location and excellent condition. Be aware that although the room is marketed with kitchette you are not allow to cook onions, bacon, fish curries or fry anything which makes it very difficult to prepare a meal. There is a BBQ but no light to see what you are cooking and the smokers area is a couch and ash tray butted up against the BBQ. Consider you needs before booking.

In the heart of paradise

Birthday getaway

Very friendly, helpful hosts, nice new upgrades to nearly all the units, can walk to anywhere with ease within either side of the town and back. Enjoy your stay!

Nice little Motel

When we checked in Trevor gave the best introduction to the hotel and the town i have ever had. He explained where everything was what was good to see and gave us a map with sites highlighted. He and his wife Erica were on hand any time we needed anything. Location was great and the motel was very quite. Very friendly.

The Cleanest Motel I have stayed in

Hosts are a lovely, friendly couple. The property is easy to find & close to everything. Unfortunately there is a hotel nearby where they played music all Saturday night (5.45am & still going). The rest of our stay was peaceful though & with the tinkle of the stream next to us, sleep wasn't a problem. Love this place!

We enjoyed our stay at La Rochelle. There was plenty of hot water for showers after skiing. The beds and balcony was great 😀

Great motel - would definitely stay here again!

Winter getaway

Owners very attentive, constantly refreshing and updating everything to make sure the stay as nice as possible.

We found the property in need of up-grading, it was a bit tired looking. Of all the motels we stayed at on our SI tour this was the most expensive for what was offered.

Recommended

Had a lovely ground floor garden room from which we enjoyed breakfasting on the private patio and listening to the bird life. The studio room has a very comfortable super king bed with ample space and included a kitchenette with everything we required. Our hosts were welcoming and very accommodating, especially with the Covid safety required.

The facilities were of a very high standard, a very comfortable bed, with cooking ability and a good pricing for being close to the town center. The very friendly staff were just the topping on a very enjoyable stay!

Trevor and Erica are such wonderful hosts! They are very knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were clean and had everything we could have needed! Will stay there again next time!

Room is fine for an over night stay as it’s size is more like a hotel room size. Bed comfortable & properly clean. Staff very friendly.

Super comfortable bed. Nicely decorated rooms with quality kitchen appliances (not the cheap noisey white plastic ones most places have!) Really friendly helpful host. Highly recommended for your stay in Akaroa. Good value for money.

Great place to unwind

Excellent few days in Akaroa despite the undistinguished weather at the time. Hosts very helpful with advice (and use of hose to wash off muddy boots after a walk in the hills ;-)

La Rochelle was excellent value for money. The room we were in was tidy and clean, and had a basic kitchenette. It was an easy walk to restaurants and shops. I definitely recommend staying here.

Be rady for a very cold shower

The water heater has a very small capacity. Only one person can get a hot shower. The boiler is in the middle of the kids room, close to one bed.

Lovely clean motels, helpful staff and great location. One of Akaroa's best walks begins right on its doorstep.

Great location to park up the car and walk around Akaroa. Lovely outlook into beautiful bush from the window. Room was toasty warm and a great size for two friends. Very friendly service - I will be back to try out the family unit and see the upgrades currently happening. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

Having the bush and a little stream just outside the balcony was lovely. The unit was spotlessly clean, and the bed was luxuriously comfortable. What more could I ask?

Trevor and Emily were fantastic hosts. The have only owned the hotel for a few months, but they show great pride in ownership of the hotel and in the area. We HIGHLY recommend the Rochelle to everyone staying in Akaroa.

Exceptional Motel

This is our second stay at La Rochelle. It has continued to be an excellent choice. Clean, well stocked rooms. Trevor and Erica are very friendly and helpful.

A welcoming base for an Akaroa adventure

La Rochelle is very comfortable and convenient. Our hosts Erica and Trevor were welcoming and helpful with good advice on where to eat and what to do. The hotel is a short walk from the town, cafes and tourism opportunities and had good facilities including a guest laundry. Our upstairs room featured a balcony overlooking a stream and provided a quiet haven to enjoy wine and Barry’s Bay cheese after a long day of dolphin cruising and exploring.

Great location in Akaroa

Lovely quiet location, with an easy walk to all parts of Akaroa. Kevin and Erica made us very welcome, friendly service in a well presented room. Recommend as good value for money.

Lovely spot to spend a few days, great part of New Zealand

I liked the cleanliness and presentation, also the attentiveness of the owners, who clearly take a pride in providing the best service possible. There is quite a choice of accommodation in Akaroa and I've stayed at a few. La Rochelle will be my preferred option from now on. Thank you for a delightful two day stay.

Facilities and staff excellent. One fo the best Motels we have stayed in.

The outlook from the little patio was nice but the room was a bit dark as it didn't get much sun. It was quite comfortable though.

First hols 2020

First time we have stayed at this motel, was great new owners, great couple, was just a great place to drop off the radar
