Loved the Folie Deuce. The entertainment and public spaces are excellent—10/10. Breakfast was great. It is also an excellent base for skiing Brevent/Flegere. But our room felt as dark and unappealing as an 80’s motel room. The sauna was crowded and the spa, in general, was pretty unremarkable/dated. I am not sure if I would stay there again, but I would definitely plan on après ski or dinner at one the restaurants. It’s the best spot in town!
Wonderful time
My stay at La Folie Douce was exceptional. The entertainment and the convenience of having the slopes right within walking distance to the gondolas was perfect. I have to say that the check in staff were great. Seb in particular went above and beyond to make sure all my questions were answered and help me find a technician to repair my GoPro casing. Thank you!
I like Folie Douce for two reasons: it is located right on the slope of Savoy, so I walk directly to the lift with skiis. It is in the middle of the town center - close to everything you need without getting in the car. Facility is showing signs of deterioration - typical wear and tear of a busy hotel at ski resort.
We had a fantastic stay in Chamonix, with easy access to the slopes, making our ski days seamless. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options to start the day. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was cleaned daily, maintaining a high standard of comfort and tidiness. The après-ski atmosphere at the terrace was also fantastic, with a lively and inviting vibe. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chamonix!
Great ski-in/ski-out option
Great ski-in/ski-out option for families and those looking to party alike. My only criticism is that the pool area needs an overhaul. The pool was freezing and the Hamam is falling apart.
We really enjoyed the unique shows that are put on every evening: dancing, singing, saxophone, aerialist. The Jannsen Bar area is always hopping and serves lovely cocktails. There are tables to hang out and play games in the evening after dinner, making it family friendly too. Room area was quiet at night. Neat to have the Savoy poma right there to take you to the Brevent Televabine. We will recommend it to friends.
Great view, pool etc but check in time at 4pm is too late, the room had no air con and there were mosquitos everywhere so it was far too hot. Poor night's sleep spoiled our stay.
Hotel and staff nice
Excellent apres ski
We loved Folie Douce!
Loved this place
Great location. Great breakfast. Even better party spot and perfect spot to stay for lots of skiing and walking to cute little bars.
Amazing time
The rooms were comfortable, good shows to watch on the tv and the bar area was good vibes
La Folie Douce Hôtel Chamonix is fun to stay at; however, the service can be improved, facilities need a facelift, and housekeeping staff need to pay more attention to cleanliness. I'd stay there again despite all that.
Nice place for large groups of ski bros who like to apres ski. Also perfectly fine for families and couples alike.
Would recommend
Fun!
Loved the service and the location is outstanding. It has a super fun energy with a great lounge and groovy bar. Excellent for apre ski. Would definitely go back
Their concierge is the best concierge we have ever dealt with. She is truly a gem and makes the stay amazing. Fantastic hotel and staff
Good
Everything was great and amazing except for: 1- Parking: you cant access the car parking it is snowing. 2- Internet: there is no internet in the rooms.
Amazing place!
Dream hotel
Amazing experience as always
Excellent location in Chamonix. Convenient to get to all the mountain attractions.
So much fun at this hotel! Best Location!
View of Mont Blanc from my window. Wonderful breakfast. Best location in Chamonix. Loved the vibes at the hotel. I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE :-)
Noise until 3am in the corridor
We stayed at the La Folie Douce Hotel while Chamonix was mobbed by ultra athletes competing in the 2024 UTMB ultra marathon, so the room prices were sky-high. We paid much to much for a very small dormitory style room. The hotel was clean an well maintained, and the buffet breakfast was outstanding. I would recommend this hotel if the price was acceptable.
The hotel has a nice pool area and garden area to play or sit and read. The inside of the hotel and the patio caters to a party atmosphere and has nice facilities for that including game rooms. The lobby has a nice ice water station. The actual hotel room was extremely cramped with no hangers or closet for clothes and very little space to set luggage down.
pool, sauna and steam room were great after a long hike. staff were very friendly and helpful.
The most amazing views! Always something happening in the hotel and so many amenities. The vibe was fun and entertaining.
Although the property offers a great location and beautiful grounds, It felt like a CLUB MED with tons of partying at the pool and loud music in the outside on hotel property! A BIG disappointment!!
Great place to stay and location is fantastic
Awesome stay in Chamonix!
A lovely hotel which has a very cool modern interior design look and feel. I was really happy that the room I saw on the photos when booking was the room we got. Great view from the window. Breakfast was good but could have done with some more hot food options. All though there is a lot to choose from. Walking distance to main town and not far from the cable car that we booked. All in all I would stay here again.
I recommend staying here
good location and nice property with great outdoor space, also our room had a great view of the mountains and glaciers
The hotel is very busy. We stayed for 3 nights in a family room (1 king-size bed and bunk beds). Breakfast at as amazing, it is a very close to town centre and has amazing views. We did have 1 issue with the cleanliness of the bed sheets, noticeable brown stains on sheets while getting into bed. This was reported to reception immediately but it was nearly 30 mins before someone came to us and by that point we were changing the sheets ourselves. We approached reception again the next morning and they apologised and stated they would do something to make this up to us but never contacted us again. Also, when we arrived, we had to wait about 30 mins to enter the car park as although email confirmation had been received the hotel wee unable to find that we had booked parking which is in a public carpark next to the hotel. The pool is very safe and clean but there is a slight shortage of sunbeds in the later afternoon. The bar area/ outside soace is fun and lively but can be accessed straight if the street so is often very busy.
Very small rooms. From the picture, it seemed like a nice suite. It was an extremely small room with three beds stacked on top of each other. Barely any room to walk. Toilets smelled bad and did not have exhaust. Very old and cramped hotel.
Nice place to stay
We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was amazing!
I do not recommend this hotel at all! My stay at the hotel was unpleasant from start to finish. The rooms are unbearably noisy, and it doesn’t matter which direction the room faces. On one side, there’s constant noise from the pool during the day and from the garden with the billiards at night. On the other side, the rooms face the bar and restaurant, so the noise continues all night. You can’t sleep with the windows closed because there’s no air conditioning, and the heat is simply unbearable! To make matters worse, the internal lock on my room didn’t work properly, and at midnight, someone entered my room because the reception gave them the wrong room! It was a terrifying and unsafe experience. Overall, my stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing and did not meet any of my expectations.
You can't get better than this hotel while staying in Chamonix. Good prices, well located, wonderful view, incredible brunch, it's perfect.
Had a great stay after the TMB. Super conveniently located, within walking distance to all the shops and bus/train. Staff are also very friendly and helpful.
Been 3rd time here! Just love the vibes and they have really improved the property as well!
Very tight rooms but amazing facilities!
Amazing!
Beautiful hotel in a great location
It was an okay hotel. Check-in staff helpful.
Everything was excellent!!
Wonderful Stay in Chamonix
Great location; easy walk to center of town. Comfortable room; extra helpful staff, great buffet breakfast, lots of activities to choose. Highly recommend.
Tres bien
Tres bien dans l ensemble. Point négatifs pas de frigo. Pas de clim.
Great stay. Really cool building. The room was large enough for our family of four. Everything was clean. Happy hour on the patio was a highlight! Front desk staff were amazing.
Service is slow while check-in. Asked for coffee, they never came
Very happening place Reception staff (esp Melissa) were very friendly and helpful Would invest a bit more in bedding (mattress, pillow quality)
Chamonix perfection
Amazing!
I will definitely come back
comfortable rooms, nice staff, and great amenities.
July 9/9 2023 Hotel is close to everything yet quiet as a heck.i slept with the windows wide open.. Clean. Glad i booked here Haute Route and climbed hiked TMB trails. Place is great
Everything's good.
Amazing! You want to stay here
We are on a two week motorcycle ride thru the Alps and this is BY FAR the nicest hotel and town we stayed in. We really wished we could have stayed a couple more nights. Amazing views and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Easy walk to Main Street in downtown. Loved having things to do for our kids while we were at our hotel enjoying a drink on the patio.
Very cool interior renovations, great rooms overlooking the mountains. Great gym, sauna, steam bath and outdoor pool. We enjoyed the party atmosphere outdoors after 6 days of hiking Tour de Mont Blanc. Hotel very close to restaurants and cafes.
Convenient to mountain and village.
Amazing
Good stay, some work required
A bit of a mixed bag so I’ll start with the good. The room was lovely, bed was excellent, shower amazing and beautifully clean. The bar and staff were great, prices were reasonable for Chamonix and the pizza was amazing. I was slightly surprised at how many children were there. The hotel is worn, one of the lifts didn’t work, the spa was very worn and the heated outside pool was attic! It says 26 degrees, it really wasn’t! The whole spa was shabby and again a lot of children. The staff were great until the last day when they watched me struggle with bags, I said I needed to come back for one and they just wandered off. Overall A great stay and location is amazing for skiing I just expected a bit more for the price
Great stay - amazing town and hotel facilities
Over price, poor quality & service
Very over priced for an average room. Stayed for 4 nights under two bookings one for one night and one for three nights. Hotel wanted to charge late check out on the first night to keep the room until the second booking for three nights was ready. Rooms are really small, no mirrors wasn’t helpful when getting ready for a wedding. Bathroom is behind a curtain and very small. No wardrobe just a rail. Music is really loud in some rooms and the larger room typically occupied by families so you get woken up by screaming kids if there is an adjoining room next door, walls are very thin! Spa is awful like a leisure centre not what you would expect from luxury hotel. Pool is cold, no hot tube and steam and sauna always busy. Door was broken on sauna so wasn’t very hot. Takes hours to get served at the bar in the evening, also won’t serve hot drinking in the evenings! One positive the guys in the ski shop are really lovely and helpful, returned my skis early and they didn’t charge me a full day.
Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, reasonably priced.
The location is ideal for skiing and dining/shopping. It has heated swimming pool and sauna plus hammam - great after skiing.
Quite disappointing
The hotel overall was very nice, the restaurants and bars were great and the staff were very friendly. However we were very disappointed with the room! It was very small and dingy with not enough light. The toilet was very small and the bed/pillows were uncomfortable. There was quite a lot of noise during the night from the apres downstairs. The spa area was not good. No dressing gown/slippers were provided and the whole spa area felt very unclean. The pool was ice cold and the changing areas were awful. I wouldn’t stay again for the price it is not what I expect. The ski boot storage for the standard rooms was bad. Open storage so we didn’t want to leave our own boots.
Tiny rooms with dated look. Front desk is unhelpful.
Beware - party hotel
I guess I should have expected this to be a party-focused hotel, but I was hoping we could have the option of being insulated from the partying if we so chose... not so much. Onsite restaurants and bar are lively an noisy with shows going on all the time. Huge patio/terrace in front of the hotel which seems to gather a large proportion of the town for apres-ski. Rooms are not well insulated from the noise outside, so beware if you want to call it an early night, you may not have the option to. Our room (small but expected) was extremely humid and we couldn't get rid of the humidity. It opened on the slopes... and a slopeside bar which played music pretty loud, thankfully not late. The pool is cool, the gym is nice, you have to make reservations for the spa. Shower worked well, so did wifi. Double bed is in fact two single beds side-by-side which tend to drift apart. I guess I wasn't totally in the target market for this specific hotel, but I can see why people less focused on skiing and more focused on partying would love it. Definite pros: ticket retrieval machine and ski shop in the hotel itself. Very close (walking distance) from the center of town including shuttle stops to the various stations.
Excellent stay
Location is great. 1 block away from the city center & walking street. About 10min walk to the Brevant ski lift. Unfortunately there wasn’t much snow and the ski lift right behind the hotel was not operating. Dining experience was good - breakfast spread is excellent and dinner quality is good with nightly performance. Although lobby was very noisy at night, we don’t hear much from the rooms. It was raining one day but they didn’t have umbrellas available for guests …
Great place to stay. Super convenient for skiing and short walk to restaurants, cafes and shops in the town. Only thing for parents of young kids to be aware of is it's a bit of a party hotel. The music noise doesn't carry to the rooms but lots of noise from drunk people going back to their rooms in the middle of the night.
The hotel has amazing staff that go out of their way to help you. There’s amazing night life and apres ski at the hotel. Best place to stay in Chamonix
I loved the location of the property it was perfect! However the staff were not very friendly and wouldn't be of much service to you. They would just offer you the bare minimum and wouldn't offer you a welcoming, friendly persona that you should have when staying at a hotel.
Mediocre at best
The only good thing about the hotel was the breakfast. Everything else was really overrated. The first night we really could not sleep at all due to the club downstairs. I am surprised that not more people complain about this as it is impossible to sleep. The spa is very mediocre. Hammam out of order and 2 saunas which were packed. No hot tub and outdoor heated pool very cold! The only saving grace was the breakfast which was good
Fantastic hotel. The wooden deck on the front Bar needs to have some work done on it . Having ski shop and every hotel guest gets a locker for ski gear is great setup. Can hire all ski gear right in the basement of hotel. Would stay again
nice place to stay for adults
Great location and a really nice property
THE ROM THEBAD
This hotel was one the corner of town so it was a little quieter. It was a great location and within walking distance of anywhere in town. It was a great place for us to stay and the staff was very friendly.
The hotel is authentic and very old. You can find lots of cool old books, painting and other stuff
All in all place was good. Was hoping for a fridge in the room but no such luck.
Location is convenient. Good breakfast selection.
Great place for summer
This hotel is the most amazing place we have stayed in: location, views on the Mont Blanc, restaurant, atmosphere, concierge, and amazing garden and pool. I can’t recommend enough! Perfect for families…
Stayed here in Aug 2023 and the weather was 33”. No aircon in the rooms and the rooms are tiny and claustrophobic and the heat was stifling also Had the smallest shower and toilet I’ve ever seen. Asked for a fan but was told unavailable. Hotel common areas are georgous and it’s in a great location. Lovely hotel let down by tiny rooms.
Loved our stay… again!
We love the location. Five minute walk to the heart of the city. The eclectic design of the hotel is awesome. Stayed there four years ago. If/when we head back to Chamonix, we will stay there again.
Lots of character beautiful views
Great location to town and mountain
We reserved a king sized bed. We got to the room and the mattress was a double and also so bad that I thought we were sitting on a half blown up air mattress. The bathroom smelled heavily of piss and the wifi only worked in the hallway. We spoke with the front desk and they were very kind and updated us to a new room. If it weren’t for the staff, I would not have stayed over night in the previous room. It was very run down and disgusting and did not match the photos.
I enjoyed the wide varieties of activities, the delicious food, and the fantastic view .
This property was a good surprise to my family. We spent 1 night here and had a fantastic time. Checkin was easy and the view from the room was of Mont Blanc. The food andd the drinks were fantastic. We ate at the Le Mayen which specializes in Raclette and we couldnt have asked for a better meal. This is a great hotel for kids with a game room and lots of activities. They provide wristbands for the entire famiky which allows the kids access to order drinks, unlick the rooms and more. I would highly recommend chosing the parking as an option. Parking is limited and if not selected you will need to use the nearbybpublic parking.
Good fun but pricy for a standard room
The entertainment and facilities are fantastic. Easy to sit relax and enjoy the hotel. I would suggest paying for a better room. We had a standard room out the back, very dark and no full size mirror, air con etc. for the cost it was a very expensive simple room. Although we did not stay in the room long it was missing the touches the price suggests. Over all we will be back to chamonix and will defiantly come back to the bars and facilities.
Great hotel with a fun atmosphere! Staff is extremely helpful, cheerful and service oriented.
The feel of the hotel is pretty cool, location of hotel and outside space including swimming pool superb. Staff super friendly and helpful. In my opinion the cost of food was higher than comparable restaurants in the town.
Very noisy. Bad music/shows made it impossible to enjoy dinner or sleep. Staff didn’t care.
Our room had no air conditioning and even with the window open the heat was unpleasant and we barely slept. The cupboards I. Our rooms looked like they had plywood doors and bathroom had plain plastered walls, so everything felt basic. They did score on the in room media options. Good selection of recent films and English to channels. Staff were a bit hit and miss, some lovely some less so. Only two lifts and one wasn’t working all the time we were there. Looked like it had great facilities for kids.
Room and facilitites
Loved, loved, loved this place!! Loved the dancers!!!
It is a better night club than it is a hotel. We were woken up many times during the night by people partying.
The coolest and hippest spot in town.
This is the spot to be at. The hotel is hip, cool, and the staff are very friendly. It has something for everyone from the amenities, ski shop, nightlife, and ski life convenience.
