The staff is what truly sets this property apart from the many others in and around Houston. We appreciated every minute detail they took care of and will stay there for our future trips to the area.
Great service
The downstairs bathroom did not have hot water
Great place to stay
We stayed here after our wedding. The hotel charged me again for a night stay after we had **already** paid via Expedia. I was able to get in contact pretty quickly, and they reversed the charge, but then charged me for valet services which we also didn't use. This took another several days to resolve. Overall, I would be very careful of their charges because it was a mess and I felt like they might have been purposefully dishonest.
Nice property. Badly managed
Enjoyed the stay.
Excellent property. Great amenities. The 10th floor outdoor pool and indoor gym and rest/work rooms were a highlight.
Staff was excellent - Whitaker did great getting us set up. Dinner for 7 was a 8, maybe 8.5 French onion soup was below expectations but the rest of the meal was a 9 Thanks
Gorgeous property with lots of charm! We helped celebrate a family member’s wedding and had a great little staycation all in one! Love finding hidden gems like this and happy to support them! We will be back!
Amazing
Absolutely lovely idiosyncratic property. Wonderful staff and facilities esp workspaces and bar
What I did not like was it was very loud.
Amazing Hotel
What an amazing hotel, with wonderful staff! Never had to lift a finger, the employees went above and beyond! Food and drinks were great! The room was clean and very comfortable! We attended a wedding reception at the restaurant and had an experience! We also took advantage of the rooftop pool. We definitely recommend this gorgeous hotel!!
Quick and ftiendly
location and amenities
Beautiful hotel
Absolutely loved our stay at this hotel - it is beautifully decorated, the staff are friendly and helpful, the beds are extremely comfy and the food was delicious. Would definitely visit again if we ever return to Houston!
Perfect staycation
Amazing! The staff was above and beyond, the rooms were superb, 10/10!
Awesome beauties
It is a beautiful property, you feel that you are staying at a museum. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the room service was outstanding! I would love to stay here again in the future.
Bungalow Cozy
We stayed in the bungalows which are endearing and lovely.
Exceeded our expectations - we were upgraded to stay in a mansion suite vs a room in the tower, which felt too good to be true but we said okay - the suite was amazing, felt luxurious and we loved it BUT directly outside the Van Gogh suite there must be a staff hallway or closet immediately outside the door and you can hear it open and close fairly loudly because of course it’s an old mansion - my husband and I didn’t mind it, totally worth the noise but other people who are more sensitive to that may not enjoy that particular room.
Great place, would definitely stay again.
Loved the Bungalows
This is not a five star hotel, its a four star. Solid, clean, comfortable. Service was mediocre at best. Dont expect any bells and wistles. They do nothing to celebrate a special occasion.
6 star service
If I could give the service six stars, I would, by far my favorite hotel in Houston. We stayed in the bungalows this time which has lots of space and very comfortable vets. The restaurant at the hotel is fantastic and Bar No 3 is always fun with great cocktails. The first time we stayed in one of the mansion rooms which was also amazing, have not tried a tower room yet, but I have no doubt the quality and service will equal the mansion in bungalow rooms.
Great service and food
What an amazing stay. Has an old classic vibe going on.
Gorgeous Historic Hotel in the heart of Montrose, amazing artwork throughout, wonderful bar and craft cocktails!
Very lovely hotel with a great bar and restaurant Tastefully decorated Loved our suite
Great stay
What a unique and beautiful gem of a hotel! I highly recommend it!
Loved the layout of the room. Didn't feel like a hotel room AT ALL. Our teenaged son stayed with us for the last night only and they made sure the room was ready with a comfy roll-away bed which didn't take away much from the living space. Love the yummy "welcome" cookies and the minibar was top notch!. The mansion had a great bar with great service. The pool and gym were great. ONLY downsides were that the gym was REALLY hot and there was no air flow whatsoever. Also no gym towels to be found. In addition, there was some kids' super fancy birthday party happening in the common space by the pool the day we were checking out. Would have been akward and difficult to access the pool area or gym during that time. glad we happened to be checking out rather than trying to use the pool!!
Don’t know the bungalow is not a part of a hotel. You have to walk on the other side of the street to go there. They remodeled the apartment complex and made bungalows. It’s definitely not a 5 star property, still smells like an old apartment. If you have to go to the restaurant or pick up car from valet parking you still have to walk to the other side. Just inconvenience when is a 100 degrees outside. Definitely, not worth your money.
Overall good experience BUT my “city view” was on the first floor looking at the back of a building. There is no spa as advertised (I would have booked elsewhere had I known). Despite the bait and switch, the room was nice, great rooftop deck, and the service could not have been better.
Terrific, well managed and clean. Quiet get-away. Great restaurant.
Made me love Houston!
This was such a beautiful f hotel I would go back to visit Houston just to stay there, even though the city itself isn’t my fave place. Now I’m considering a babymoon there!
Fantastic hotel in all regards. Wonderful room, great staff, outstanding restaurant and bar.
awesome boutique hotel. Convenient location, top-notch everything
Impeccable service for an outstanding a unique hotel, dining and bar experience. We did the 36hrs in Houston experience from The NY Times suggested activities and this hotel was the top suggestion. It was simply exquisite!
Broken promise
It would have been amazing, I was expecting to have the promises lived up to by the staff when I told them my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. They forgot to leave the charcuterie board in the room for her upon our arrival and they never brought it
Best in Houston! Fabulous experience
Stylish and Modern hotel in the heart of town
We had a lovely stay at La Colombe d'Or. The hotel is new, stylish and modern. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. We really loved our stay.
Great luxury boutique hotel which features beautiful artwork throughout the property. Staff are exceptional; very friendly and welcoming making you feel at home. The restaurant menu is good despite being a fairly new hotel. The bar/lounge area has a nice ambience if your interested in a relaxing evening with great cocktails. I highly recommend this hotel if your an art lover and want to have a memorable experience in Houston.
Beautiful property and tremendous artwork. Excellent food quality. This is a very nice hotel but has some problems that are inconsistent with a 5 star hotel. The room is spacious and bed comfortable. Would stay here but with lowered expectations. Some issues were: 1. forgetting a few items in room service delivery. 2. A very chaotic and noisy check-in and check-out process with a table in the middle of the foyer. 3. Bathroom shampoo etc and bedside water not replaced nightly 4. Bathroom lights turn on and off all night spontaneously and the WC doesn’t have separate lighting 5. Shower water pressure was very low. 6. Very long valet waits. 7. Access cards didn’t work properly at pool
The halls were hot and the rooms wouldn't cool down. They were also hot. Also, you had to scan room key about 5 different times before getting into your hotel room.
Way over priced! NO amenities.
I loved how private the hotel is
Good quality in general

Mansion and room were clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Amenities were fantastic. Only complaint is that valet was hard to access.
