Beautiful place with a wonderful host

The host was wonderful and the place was beautiful

This was easily one of the best places I’ve stayed in any country. The host, Marouane was a very gracious person and prepared everything for me just as I wished. It’s in a perfect neighborhood and is such a beautiful home itself. Couldn’t recommend it more. I will definitely be returning.

Charming historic home being restored by owner. Very helpful host/owner. Not luxurious but very historic. Wonderful breakfast. Do have to walk a bit from where taxi can drop or parking. Highly recommend it you want the feeling of living in the Medina.

Stay at La Chambre Bleue was wonderful. Right in the heard of the medina, walking distance to Kasbah Square, 2 mosques and souks. Its hard for taxi or bolt to navigate thru the medina area so you have to walk out to the main streets for catching a taxi. The hosts, Marouanne and Chyraz, were super. So helpful and a pleasure to talk to. The room we stayed in could definitely use some maintenance as the tile walls could use some TLC. Its an older structure so more maintenance needed always. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and highly recommend if you would like to stay in the medina. I looked forward to homemade breakfast every morning...miss it now :)

Amazing place

Amazing place, great location, easy walk into the medina. Room was beautiful, and breakfast was amazing! Made to feel really welcome.

The room and the property are absolutely beautiful and full of character. The location in the Medina puts you right in the middle of the action. This can mean that it isn't always quiet or easy to get in and out, but this was part of the fun for me. The property owner and staff are delightful and very helpful for planning things to do and understanding how to navigate the area. Additionally, the breakfast each morning was new, unique, and delicious. I learned a lot about local cuisine from that alone. The rooms are enormous and full of character. That being said, it is an old building and you should expect the nuance that comes with that. The biggest surprise for me was that my room could only be locked from the inside, so it remained unlocked while I was gone (The building has a very secure lock). Risk of being robbed by fellow guests is very low, but a lock would have given me more peace of mind. Just something travelers should be aware of when booking. Overall, this was one of the most fun, unique, and delightful hotels I've ever stayed in. Thank you for the great experience!

Such nice and helpful people. Delicious breakfast! They helped us arrange transportation to the next stop, airport transfer. Very pleasant experience. Very big room too.

This is a home with heart, from the moment you are greeted to the moment you leave. The host and team look after you as though you are family. Breakfast is a treat and wine can be bought and consumed within the confines of Ke Chambre Bleue

I enjoyed my stay. The owner is very kind and attentive to his guests. I would have given five stars but there were a couple things that didn't go as planned. The shades in the windows of the rooms were not working properly and I was not able to block out the light for early morning sleep. This was important for me to get a good night sleep. Other than that, I think if this is fixed this would be a 5 plus star review. The owner says that he will correct it. Once he does I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly

La Chambre Bleue Is a guest house situated in the Medina of Tunis, it is very unassuming from the outside, but inside very cosy with a authentic decor. We meant the most delightful person by the name of Appollinaire who is the in house chef and in charge of room service. His presence was charming and delightful. He went out of his way to help is out during Ramadan to show us where the local market & gargottes were situated. Without his presence we would have changed location. As for the owners of the guest house, they were helpful for our arrival. Personally, while always being courteous, we found them to be overwhelming. They were always in your face for you to partake in their household activies and group meals. This became stressful and annoying. My husband and myself are very carefree in our travels and enjoy our liberty without constraints. Finally the service we paid for was for a room with breakfast included. No more and no less. And finally please do not pass judgement on unfinished meals, it just rude!

Outstanding!

Marouane and Shiraz were excellent hosts. Their property is beautiful and they've gone to great lengths to keep it that way and preserve it's original architecture. Awesome location within the Medina - don't stay in a lame resort, stay somewhere interesting and beautiful in a fantastic location. Thank you Marouane and Shiraz!

Feels like home!

The hosts make you feel like home! It was a very pleasant and welcoming experience. Amazing breakfast together with the hosts and other guests. The place is beautiful and a great location if you really want to discover the real Tunis!

One of the Top Stays in Tunisia

Stay here if you want to get a good feel for Tunisia's rich history! The rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures. Beautiful property and even more beautiful hosts! Marwan and Khaira went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Marwan not only helped with my transportation to get to my next hotel, but I ran into him in town several days after my check out and he came to my aid yet again in helping me find my taxi that had apparently arrived via Bolt app (the equivalent of Uber but used often in Tunisia). He did not have to do that but his beneficence was shown through even brighter than before. He is so kind, warm and helpful and always smiling. Khaira is no different! Just book your stay here. The lack of AC is a minor complaint when you see how beautiful the house is and you completely forget about it when you meet Khaira and see her smile every morning when making/serving you her homemade breakfast. 10/10! Thank you, Marwan and Khaira. God Bless.

Ubforgettably beautiful

Marwan is an amazingly helpful and kind host who goes above and beyond for his guests. I wasnt able to get a taxi to to my next hotel as none were servicing the madina due to narrow streets. Marwan came to the rescue with what looked like a Tunisian rickshaw. So awesome of him. And Khaira was an angel. She makes a lovely breakfast every morning with a big heartfelt genuine smile. Such a caring woman who wants to ensure your atay is perfect. She, too, helped so much during my stay with logistics and advice on where to go. The one downside was that there is no air conditioner in the house or the rooms. It would be a perfect place to stay if ac units were placed in rooms. Beautiful house overall and lovely, inviting people. Stay here! You do not want to miss.

The architecture of the room was fantastic, fill with history, at the the same time modern, location can’t be beat, walkable to every where inside La Medina

This was a truly wonderful experience. Sondos is a fabulous host and helped me with transportation and a guide to Carthage. Definitely would go back here again! Her breakfast is marvelous.

La Chambre Bleue visit

The room was beautiful and rustic. Wifi was so-so in the room, but the bed was comfortable and the sitting area was enjoyable. Our favourite part was the fresh ricotta at breakfast!

Amazing place. In a walking distance to the souk and restaurants. The room was spacious and beautiful. Host was welcoming and very friendly. Breakfast was great!

I can't say enough about how perfect this place was. The location is absolutely perfect and I used the map and recommendations provided throughout my trip. I stayed in the Blue Room and the original tiles were beautiful. The breakfasts every morning were absolutely delicious. Every one of them could be on the menu at any top brunch place in New York City. The cat also made my trip. It never came into my room, but waited for me outside of my door every morning wanting a cuddle.

this place is beautiful and is very well equipped - we really enjoyed our stay. Sondos is lovely and very helpful and welcoming. We highly recommend this place. The Medina is fun place to stay and Chambre bleue Is in a great location.

Great character to the building, really nicely and stylishly refurbished. Service, hospitality and breakfast were all wonderful.

Experience the real medina life

Its a winner on all levels. The only issue with the wonderful room is a lack of natural light. Special mention for the delicious breakfast and the very welcoming hostess...

Brilliant Host and communication leading up to our arrival, wonderful room in the Makhzen loft with its small kitchen area is really perfect for longer stays. Really central and easily accessible location. if you are at all interested in architecture and like a special place to stay this is the one for you! overall 5/5 for the experience we had here, the host and her help finding our feet in Tunis.

Great stay in the Medina of Tunis

I really enjoyed my experience in this intimate guest house, located in the heart of the Medina of Tunis. The owner and host is a charming woman who was exceptionally helpful, served a delicious, home-cooked breakfast and stayed for excellent conversation. The place was clean, comfortable, and the internet service worked very well. I hope to return!

Great spot in Tunis!

Great spot in the Medina of Tunis! Excellent room with amazing architecture, we weren’t in the blue room but still very nice see picture. Walking distance of the Souks and Kasbah, best of all was the host Sondos. She offered tips for arriving, made an awesome breakfast; helped cordinate our time there.

This place was incredible. I wish I had booked it for several more days. So much character and thought in the whole place. I arrived much later at night than expected and the owner patiently waited up for me. Breakfast was excellent. I can’t say enough great things about Le Chambre Bleue.

Mixed feelings

Pros: proprietor was very welcoming and flexible. The rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was always amazing. Cons: while the rooms looked great, the beds were not comfortable and the rooms were very dusty and humid. The location is great if you want to be in the Medina but things close down around 7/8pm and then it’s quite a trek to get to another area of the city.

I was not allowed to check-in. I called to find out about parking and I was told because I had not contacted the property before hand they could not honor my reservation. Although I had received an email from Expedia confirming my reservation. I had to look for a place to stay at the last minute. It was very disappointing. I was looking forward to staying there through out my trip.

We had a lovely stay! Check in and communication with Sondos was perfect and easy. We'd recommend La Chambre Bleue for staying within the Tunis Medina and exploring the culture and area of the Old Medina.

Family friendly stay

Very comfortable stay , right in the heart of the medina. Lovely local breakfast laid out. Only downfall was we didn’t have hot water for two days as there was a problem with the boiler.

Exceeded all expectations. Made welcome from the time i booked and was genuinely disappointed when it was time to leave. The property is exceptional, historic, atmospheric and full of joy. Easy to locate inside the medina you are close to all the action and the heart of the city. There is everything to love about staying here including the generosity and warmth of the owner. I can't recommend it highly enough.

A gem in the Medina.

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful and lovingly restored house. Sondras is a wonderful host welcoming you into her home. Delicious breakfasts served each morning and we enjoyed our discussions with Sondras which gave us insight into this amazing country. La Chambre is a perfect base for exploring the wonderful Medina with its beautiful traditional architecture and the close to the centre of the city. Highly recommended !!

Host is very gentle and homemade breakfast is excellent!

Wir waren 3 Übernachtungen dort und haben den Charme des traditionellen Hauses genossen. Das Frühstück wird liebevoll zubereitet und ist jeden Tag ein bisschen anders. Gastgeber und Personal sind herzlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Accueil très chaleureux de Marouane ,natif de la médina et de son épouse. Vaste Maison familiale ou il y a quatre chambres d’hôtes.La notre, au rez de chaussée était très vaste avec ses colonnes. Nous nous sommes sentis "comme à la maison", avec beaucoup d'échanges humains Sonia la cuisinière adorable , avec ses petits déjeuners toujours variés

Magnifique maison traditionnelle dans la médina avec un petit-déjeuner à tomber! Marouane et son équipe sont très accueillants et plein de bons conseils.

Awesome team - the owners and the service staff are super friendly and always open for some tips on what to do and a chat! Marouane is great and I also got some insights on the history of the house and the renovations he did to preserve the original building/style as good as possible.. Had a great time there and felt super save (travelled alone as a women)! Plus, the breakfast was also delicious!

Nice and memorable accommodation experience

C’était fabuleux de découvrir la Medina de Tunis en y logeant, en profitant des efforts individuels et collectifs entrepris pour conserver son authenticité, son apparence, son charme. Marouane et Shiraz m'ont ouvert les portes de leur demeure avec générosité et attention, ils m'ont offert une très agréable séjour, de délicieux petits-déjeuners faits maison et m'ont conseillée pour profiter au mieux de on temps sur place. Un grand merci à eux pour leur accueil tout en douceur et bravo pour leurs efforts de conservation du patrimoine! It was fabulous to discover the Medina of Tunis from the inside, enjoying the individual and collective efforts undertaken to preserve its authenticity, its appearance, its charm. Marouane and Shiraz opened to me the doors of their home with generosity and care, they offered me a very pleasant stay, delicious homemade breakfasts and advised me to make the most of my time there.
