I don’t know how they have the cheek to charge over 100 EUR per night for this place. Especially on a Thursday in September. When you finally find the entrance which is through a restaurant, you get a very curt welcome. The place is clean enough but desperately in need of some tlc. Holes in the doors, worn carpets, needs decorating. The worst bit was the shower, didn’t clip into the bracket, the bracket didn’t adjust, it may as well have been a hosepipe. Terrible water pressure but then the towels are so small and thin, even if you do manage to get wet, you can’t dry yourself with them anyway. There isn’t even anyone around to complain to. Never again.

The accomodation id old, but clean. The reception people were all lovely, except the younger person. The older guys were most helpful. The elevator is carpetted and only fits 3 suitcases and a person at a time but it works well. Great location to everything you need. Rooms are small but super clean. We would stay here again.

This hotel was amazing. The view from the windows, the location and the price of the rooms make it a winner. Everything is walkable from this hotel and the staff was very kind and welcoming.

We decided to stay in Cologne at the last minute. This is close to the train station but my GPS took us to the wrong place. The place is quite old and run down and just doesn’t feel very safe. The view of the Rhine is amazing and the location is good. That is all. I wouldn’t stay here again unless I couldn’t find anything else.

Loved this characterful hotel on the banks of the Rhine. Our room looked out on to the beautiful view of the river and was warm and cosy. The location was great, very close to restaurants, the main railway station, cathedral and other places of interest. The staff were helpful and courteous. Would have appreciated more choice at breakfast eg yoghurt, fruit, cereal.

Super local--Great find!

SUPER location! We viewed the Rhein and famous bridge from our window. The room was small but incredibly clean and cozy--and QUIET, even though it faced the boardwalk with several restaurants. A 5-min walk from the Hauptbahnoff, Philharmonic, and two major museums--perfect! Staff were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay there again!

Upsetting end to Cologne visit.

The guy who checked us in and out was suoer friendly..the rest of the staff were extremely rude and at the restaurant we were treated extremely badly and after a problem with our order were told "you should not come here if you cannot speak German" when I complained to the manager he was dismissive and accused us of being intoxicated which was not the case. Very upset after everywhere else was so friendly. We moved on to another bar where the owner was so disgusted at our treatment he offered to phone the hotel on our behalf and state that we were good people and far from drunk. I tried to be moved elsewhere but it was impossible so had to spend a final night feeling intimidated at this hotel. The hotel is fine but they need to address the problems with the restaurant staff. AVOID the restaurant at all costs...

Hotel staff lovely. Great location. Lift. Felt safe. Dust however on skirting boards, sloshing bed. No fans or air con..extremely hot room.

Very disappointing

I would definitely not return to this hotel. The location was great, but everything else was not. Check-in seemed less than friendly. The windowsills were filthy, the small sofa was not especially clean either, the room was hot, and it looked out over an area where people were extremely loud until 2-3 a.m. in the night. It was not a good night.

I went on a quick trip to Cologne, so for the price it was ok. The reception clerk couldn’t find my reservation so I showed him my expedia reservation, then he saw the cost of the room. The cost was in USD and euros, so he entered the amount the USD, but charged euros, he has to give me money back, and at checkout they told me I had to pay some other taxes that never were mentioned at check in. It’s summer, so no A/C, so my windows were open, but not for long, be issue it was really loud outside after 10:00 pm. The room was really hot around 1:00pm but it wasn’t until 5 am that I was able open the windows and no noise from the outside.

The mattress must ve so old im my room I nearly fell in a indent in the middle . The curtains are old and look dirty and not black out.

Check, Ask and Check again

It was a very warm week in Germany with the temperatures over 85F. No air conditioning, no fans, no airflow so difficult to sleep. We ate breakfast there but no prices were listed and no one warned us of the ridiculous prices. Found out at check out that they charged me 20 Euro per breakfast and it wasn't worthy of that price.

love this place

I love the feeling of being in a building from the 1200's and the staff is great. I've stayed a few times now. The location cannot be beat. Views of the river or the cathedral, depending on your room. The rooms are small to American standards, but how much room do you really need? The beds are comfortable with cozy blankets. The scrambled eggs in the breakfast buffet will change your life! So good.

Exactly as expected, good hotel in great location, nice welcome on arrival, food and beer good, staff friendly, waiter Daniel formal at the beginning but became very friendly as trip progressed, I booked single room which was basic but practical. Hotels very Clean but old fashioned decor.

I selected this hotel because of its location and price range. If you are going to spend most of the day outside working or doing something else, this hotel is perfect for you. The only bad thing that happened is that the windows from my room where located next to their kitchen's chimney so if whever I opened up my windows my room was smelling like food.

Very nice staff, great location. Only negative was we stayed during an awful heat wave and our fourth floor former room was stifling. The hotel only had 3 room fans and they were already in use. Would stay here again if it wasn’t in a heat wave!

Perfect location for a short stay in Koln

Very friendly greeting at reception and we were able to check in even though we were early. Hotel room was small and basic but adequate for our needs as we would only be sleeping there. Breakfast was an additional charge but was good with usual hotel choices available. Hotel is right on the river and our room had nice river views. Location of the hotel is brilliant within walking distance of the cathedral, shopping, restaurants and local bars, river is on the doorstep and also walking distance to the cologne central station. Perfect location for short stay in koln.

Small hotel in excellent central location.

Had difficulty in finding the hotel on arrival at Cologne station, partly due to lack of signposts. One taxi driver was unhelpful, as not interested in a short trip. We asked at a hotel and the doorman there was very helpful and got us a taxi. Next day we explored on foot and found an easy way back to the station (10 mins by foot) but for cars it would be a completely different route as the centre is very much a pedestrian area. Our single rooms were small but clean and perfectly adequate for our short stay. It was quiet - apart from the Dom's clock chimes! We were on the fourth floor but there was a lift. There was a huge choice of food at breakfast and the restaurant downstairs catered for all tastes; we enjoyed two good meals there.

Amazing view. Excellent front desk

The view of the Rheine River across our room was breathtaking. Accessible to restaurants . Walking distance to cathedral. Front desk gentleman on our day of leaving requested and called th e taxi for us to train station. The taxi driver don't want to help with kuggage so hotel front desk told him to go away and called another taxi. Thank you so much . We will be back

1 star maybe 2 stars if I'm being generous

The bed was jammed in a corner. Bathroom smelled, not a fresh smell I assure you. Everything was drab, worn, stained, etc. Cheapest mattress money can buy. Cheapest everything for that matter - pillows, towels, sheets, etc. Was setup for one person when we arrived. Took 40 minutes to get extra stuff for the second person - pillow and blankets - one blanket doesn't cover the whole bed by itself. Only book as a last resort as there are much much better and cheaper options in cologne. It's a 1 star maybe 2 stars maximum. Not sure how this place is a 3 star with reviews of 3.5. it's absolutely horrible. Worst experience on hotels.com by far.

nice hotel in a good location.

The room had only one chair. One of us had to sit on the bed. We couldn't open the window until after midnight because of the cigarette smoke coming from the restaurant downstairs (people were sitting outside and smoking). We like to sleep with the window open., Still, we were lucky with the location which was close to the city centre, to one of the many Christmas markets, and to a Brauhaus (restaurant with own brewery). We had a good view from our window to the river Rhine.

Friendly staff and great food

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My last morning I had to leave very early, before the front desk staff arrived. I was able to check out the night before and arrange to leave my key on my way out. The room was clean, warm and cozy. Breakfast was very good (I need to learn how to make scrambled eggs so tasty). The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the train and all of old town Cologne. My room was on the backside of the hotel, I could see the cathedral.

Fantastic Location

We travelled to Cologne to visit the Christmas markets as a short break. The hotel was centrally located, just two minutes away from the closest market and within walking distance of the rest. We were provided with a river view room which looks out over the Hohenzollern bridge, which was fantastic! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were provided with a discount card for the Angusto steakhouse which is also owned by the same people. I would fully recommend taking advantage of this! Our flight wasn't until later in the evening and they allowed us to leave our luggage with them until it was time to leave.

Wonderful location for vacations.

This is a great hotel for enjoying the local culture, food, and beer. The hotel is older, but is run by very friendly people. The rooms are large and clean and the breakfast buffet had a wonderful selection.

Well situated

The hotel was well situated and despite it being a Tuesday night the atmosphere around the pubs and restaurants was excellent. The staff were ver accommodating

Perfectly located on the Rhine River with beautiful views across, especially at night. Easy walking distance to Dom Cahedral, Train Station, Concert Hall and all the pubs , restaurants and shopping stores you could want. If you arrive by car, be advised that their parking is inside the garage to the north and once inside turn right and drive south to their reserved spaces. Extremely tight garage so I hope you have a small car.

Very close to the Koln Messe but not quiet

Great location centrally in Cologne, which was ideal for us, but the hotel is also a street cafe with tables outside that is very busy until the early hours, so don't expect much peace and quiet. The rooms reflect the reasonable rates, so don't expect 5 star but the hotel staff are very nice, and the facilities are adequate for the budget. If you are a party animal that stays up late and crashes out, then this will be the ideal location for a city centre budget trip.

In Need Of Renovation!

Hotel is in Old Town close to Cathedral, within walking distance. Room was small, dingy, dark, could use a good deep cleaning. Pillows were lumpy like sleeping on golf balls. This place is old and is in need of major renovation. Staff is very friendly though. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Perfect Location, Basic for the Price

The hotel is in a perfect location for riverside bars and restaurants, less than a minute walk away from the Cathedral and into the shopping district. Not a great deal in the way of luxury at the hotel itself but a good place to set up camp, clean and tidy enough, maybe a touch expensive for what it is but location is everything.

Small, dark room with dodgy electrics

The hotel is in a good location (albeit a bit noisy) and our room had a nice view of the river. The staff were friendly but were not always present at reception so sometimes had to wait a while to be seen. The room however was small with only a couple of small flickering lights above the bed making it very dark and hard to see at night. Also when we tried to put a charger in one of the plugs in the room the plug sparked and all the electricity went off. The electricity was turned back on but we were left with only one plug which we were wary of using, the staff were helpful however in providing us with an extension cable to use.

Great location, terrible hotel

The hotel staff were rude constantly. Every time I returned to the hotel, the wait staff outside (who are also the hotel staff) would push me to get dinner/drinks there, regardless of the fact that I was actually staying at the hotel. They're pushy as hell, and if you're crazy enough to actually take them up on their offer, they're inattentive and rude about service. Just like most service in Cologne! Every single night, until 2 or 3 in the morning, you can here the wait staff loudly talking to each other outside the hotel, apparently unaware of the dozens of open windows overhead where hotel guests are trying to sleep. Why are the windows open? Because there's no air conditioning in the hotel. Are there screens on the windows to keep out bugs from the hotel rooms? No there are not! This place is a dump. The facilities are shabby and run down. It exists to take advantage of tourists and the only reason I stayed here was because it was the only reasonable option left during a convention (gamescom). Do yourself a favor and book earlier to avoid staying at a dive like the Kunibert der Fiese.

This hotel could do with a bit updating here and there but overall the location made up for it. We had a back room with not much of a view but as it was only a base to explore it did not bother us. We had room only and the room was a great size and the beds comfy.

They tried to steal €100 from us at checkout.

Good location, very close to the Dom. Parking is a bit of a hassle. It is noisy at night due to several bars downstairs and around the hotel. At checkout they tried to overchrage for breakfast that we didn't eat plus unexplained overcharges. It was a good hour wasted with a very angry front desk person to clear this out.

Never stay here!

After a lifetime of travel, I can say that I've never stayed in a worse hotel. The room was so small that we had to walk over the bed to get to the other side--the only place to set the luggage. The bathroom had mold, and there was no tissue anywhere. The king size bed was made up with twin sheets that didn't cover the mattress at the top. The lamp over the middle of the bed was burned out. There was only one bedside table. All of this cost me $696.42 for ONE night because of a computer error at the time of booking. Even though I had tried to correct it, they refused to refund my money!

We stayed here overnight with our dog on our way from England to Denmark. We arrived quite late (10pm) but they were still serving food for another couple of hours and the bar was open late as well. The staff were very helpful and nice and made us feel very welcome. They were very dog friendly as well which was nice! The room had everything we needed although it could probably do with redecoration but for us this did not matter as the staff and location made up for it! The location in the old part of Cologne was perfect with a only a lawned part separating the hotel from the Rhine! Lots of bars and hotels along this part but all very nice and no loud music or any other disturbance. On our trip through Europe I think this was probably my favourite place!

Nightmare

It needs a remodeling. One thing was the crazy ugly interior, but it was old stains on the carpets and it smelled very bad. I think it was mold. Outside, in the dining area it was many mice. I was very close to get another hotel room but because if the expenses I stayed. I will never set my foot in this hotel again. Horrible is probably the closest I come to my experience. Heard to believe it’s ok to rent out something like this

Die Lage des Hotels ist optimal. Nicht einmal eine Straße trennt das Haus von dem sehr schön angelegten Rheinufer. Die Altstadt mit unzähligen gastronomischen Angeboten ist gleich nebenan. Praktisch ist es aber auch, gleich im Erdgeschoß des Hauses das Angebot zu nutzen: Ob Frühstück, Mittagessen, Eiscafé, Cocktails, Kölsch oder Halve Hahn - alles ist vorhanden. Das Personal ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wer ein Zimmer mit Rheinblick erhält, darf täglich diese wunderbare Aussicht genießen.

Excelente servicio, limpieza, ubicación

Excelente, el personal es super amigable y atento; olvidamos los tickets de nuestro viaje de regreso y los resguardaron; siempre nos apoyaron con consejos de que hacer. Muy buena ubicación a unos cuantos metros de la estación caminando, enfrente del Río Rin (con suerte puede tocar habitación con vista al río). Las instalaciones muy limpias, definitivamente volveremos

Sehr einfaches Hotel. Das beste an dem Hotel ist die Lage, direkt am Rhein und in unmittelbarer Näher zur Innenstadt. Im Sommer ist es aber sehr heiß in den Räumen, da diese nicht klimatisiert sind. Wenn man das Fenster offen lässt, hört man sehr viel Lärm, weil es natürlich sehr belebt ist am Rheinufer und vor dem Haus die Außengastronomie brummt. Die Fliegengitter an den Fenstern sind sehr löcherig und daher wirkungslos. Die Einrichtung ist recht abgenutzt. Aber wenn das Licht aus ist, sieht man das ja nicht mehr.

Die Lage ist gut. Von hier aus kann man zu Fuß alles schnell erreichen. Ok die Zimmer sind benutzt aber mich hat es nicht gestört. Zum schlafen reicht es allemal.

Für unseren Kurztrip (zwei Nächte) waren Preis-Leistung und die Lage ideal.

Perfekte Lage, alles zu Fuß erreichbar und dicht am Wasser - Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt - Badezimmer sind in die Jahre gekommen - Vorhänge könnten auch mal ausgetauscht werden aber sonst eine solide Unterkunft - die Lage ist hier aber eindeutig hervorzuheben
