Nice large rooms, quite and comfortable.
My room was super cold for the night that I stayed at. I asked the front desk if they will be able to turn the heat up and I was told that the person does not come in until tomorrow. I was then given a small heater for the night. This is incredibly concerning since it’s the middle of winter. The rooms heat is controlled by the hotel and you can increase it. It is set to 68 in the middle of winter. For a “new” hotel in Kodiak, the heating system is ridiculous. If I knew there was not going to be heat in the room, I would have find another accommodations for the night.
Convenient to shops, shuttle to airport easy!
1st kodiak trip
Really nice hotel. First time in kodiak and think this has been remodeled. Good job. Comfortable bed.i did have to wipe down the room. A little dust. Hair in shower.
Water front
Centrally located
Great stay great property
It was published on website that checkout time is 12:00 (noon), but they start calling and knocking to my door at 11am. I was undressed and I said “no” three times. It was also sign “do not disturb” I posted on my door. No matter, somebody open the door (housekeeper) and only after me yelling they closed the door. I brought attention of front desk manager to this situation and was advised that checkout time is 11am and Expedia has wrong information. They didn’t appologize and ignore my claim about posted sign and “no enter” notification.
The property was excellent with the exception of no internet or TV for the majority of our stay. Unfortunately it was the providers problem and it was a holiday so there was nothing the property could do.
The reason you book a hotel is to sleep somewhere. I can't sleep when it's hot. My thermostat was set at 74 degrees. Before bed, i tried to turn it down and it wouldn't let me. I called downstairs and the lady told me she could turn it down on her end. I fell asleep and woke up two hours later because it was too hot. The temp had not changed. I called down again and she said only her manager could control the temp... She could have at least called me back once she found that out. I was awake for 4 hours then got one more hour of sleep before I had to leave. Bottom line, you can not control the temperature in each room. Management has to. Everything else was fine. Super clean room and facility.
One of the worst experiences! The elevator was broken when I got there. My room was at a lower level and they didn’t have any staff to help me bring my bags down. The place is super noisy and front desk staff are not friendly or helpful at all! I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
Recimmend
Front desk clerk was very kind and accommodating
Had a huge freezer for fish
I thought thay every person from Compass Suites we came in contact with was pleasant, hospitable and helpful. The only 2 issues we had were we requested in the reservation to have waterview 5 months in advance and the business office was not working for us to print boarding passes. But the rooms were clean and the continental breakfast was perfect
Clean and nice
Should have offered breakfast.
The hotel itself is great. My review is only on how they treated guests when the tsunami evacuation alarm came on. The receptionist could care less about the worried guests and told everyone there was no need to evacuate. We had to get a taxi to take us to higher ground.
Refused to honor Expedia contracted rate. Required payment of $50/night over the Expedia promised rate.
Nice place to stay
Excellent location and services
We love this place, everything is good and includes breakfast.
Wonderful place to stay. Everyone friendly and helpful!
I don't understand why this place doesn't have an higher rating everything was just like it said it was well kept up all the way around highly recomond
A new and well laid out hotel, which provided me with a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were comfortable and large and the internet excellent. Vehicle or walking access, both in and out was easy and convenient, as was the parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I have no complaints.
The property is a lot newer compared to other hotels. The room is clean and have a lot of amenities including a microwave and fridge. They do not have a restaurant inside the hotel but they have a small area to buy snacks and microwave meals by the front desk. There’s also a restaurant next door at the other hotel. They also have a lot fo parking available. Would stay again.
Big rooms
Very nice staff
Good location
Front desk staff was friendly and fast
New property and clean. Central location is great.
The parking lot was filled with ice, no salt was put down for the safety of guests. When we checked into our room
The rooms are spacious and having a full sized refrigerator, microwave, and dishes was nice. However when I asked about throwing out our overthrowing trash I was directed to the dumpster - across the street. The weather was rain/wind and I was given a larger trash bag so that I could consolidate my trash, but would have been convenient to have it removed from hallway or given a place to put it inside the building. Also, the pantry was closed from 11 pm - 5 am due to staff shortage. but it was closed at 10:50 pm - although I was allowed to get bottled water to charge to my room. No dining facility on site but nice option next door at the Best Western (Chart Room). It was off season (Jan/Feb) and didn't seem full, but still appeared to be understaffed. Room was dusty and tv resolution was very poor. I was told it was because of the wind, but the picture was still fuzzy without wind. TV should be replaced. I was charged $15 extra per night for a rollaway bed that we had to make up ourselves. No discount on throwing out our own trash :-)
Very nice property
Hotel shuttle was advertised virtually impossible to use very frustrating
I booked my room,(Queen Suite) last minute with Expedia and welcomed warmly on arrival shortly there after. The room wasn’t ready, but the receptionist was happy to hold my luggage securely and recommended a taxi service as I wanted to do some shopping. When I returned the suite was clean and ready for me. The corner room was expansive and the bedroom separated by a half wall giving the remaining space the feel of an apartment. Full kitchenette, comfortable sofa, side table, desk and 2 chairs. The property is new with clean modern lines, and I would highly recommend Compass Suites to anyone staying overnight in Kodiak.
Friendly Staff
Clean, kitchenette was nice, breakfast bites were fresh.
Positive Great staff very friendly and helpful, good beds, walk-in freezer for storing fish, airport shuttle Negative Property is very run down and in need of a major overhaul
Beautiful Kodiak!
The front desk manager was outstanding! She made us feel very welcome and made certain we were aware of the property amenities.
We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the staff for accommodating us when our plans changed. We will recommend and return to your hotel, thank you!
Great location. Check in was good. Staff was pleasant. We booked this room for 3 people at least a month ago. The sofa bed not only wasn't made, there were no linens provided. The desk staff brought some down but then we had to make it. There were only towels for 2 also. Definitely less than I expected for $300 a night. The continental breakfast was meager. Boiled eggs, bagels, cheese (1 day out of 4), yogurt, coffee. WHEN we go back to Kodiak and we will, I'll definitely look around for a better property.
Everything was perfect.
Excellent hotel. Will definitely stay here again.
Nice place. Rooms were significantly better than Best Western though the breakfast was pretty lame
Everything worked as it should. A very good stay.
The rooms are spacious and the rooms with balconies overlooking the harbor are especially great. We enjoyed stepping out to look at the view. Walkable to the main area with restaurants. Easy transportation to and from the airport with shuttle. Highly recommend.
Good hotel close to ferry terminal and free shuttle from airport.
Location and cleanliness were great. Roomy suites would be great for longer term. Laundromat facilities - really everything was great - a La carte breakfast a little lacking but overall a good choice for anyone
