Wonderful stay with our hosts who did more than was expected. Nothing was a problem. They even met us at the train station with our luggage so we would not have to walk back from town. What a treat breakfast was. I would book again in a heartbeat.
Lovely couple. Fantastic breakfast! The room was very cosey.
Picton Gem
Great stay here for NYE. Margaret and Bill are excellent hosts, both friendly and informative. Breakfast was a the best we've had in a very long time. Would heartily recommend to anyone.
Lovely home nice stay. Central location. Fantastic breakfast
Suited us perfectly with really friendly hosts. Great attention to detail. Highly recommend.
Extremely quiet and warm room with a very comfortable bed. Easy walking distance into town. Margaret and Bill are wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for more. The food was absolutely amazing.
Fruitful accommodation with fantastic evening meal
Amazing house full of all sorts of reminders of Scotland. A garden full of wonderful fruiting plants figs, peaches etc. we were provided with a fantastic evening meal.
The most unique thing about this accommodation is something that can’t be faked. It has great atmosphere, soul and a homely feel.
Wonderful owners. Close to marina. Delicious breakfast.
Pretty Picton
This is a beautiful property and Picton is lovely. It was warm when we were there and our room was not air conditioned nor was there a fan so it was uncomfortable at night. On the plus side the breakfast was awesome and they offer a laundry service as well
Wonderful house in Picton
We had a lovely time at Kippilaw House! The house was wonderful, the room was wonderful, the area was wonderful. A three course breakfast in the morning was tasty, and two old and cute dogs top off the house environment very nicely. Highly recommend staying here in Picton!
Hosts are very friendly and eager to make one feel at home. Margaret is a chef and so she enjoys making a three course breakfast each morning, it was amazing. Loved the warm pastries. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom is big, lots and los of towels. They have an interesting bookshelf at the disposition of the guests, interesting to browse and for a quick read if you have the time. The location is not far from the center of the town, 5 min walk. Beautiful room on a top floor with lots of light.
Comfortable, interesting gastronomic stay.
the room and stay were excellent. Our hosts made us very welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The evening dinner was excellent. The breakfast was delicious too. A super start to our visit to South Island.
Amazing service. Probably the best breakfast that we’ve had at any hotel. Wonderful night’s sleep.
Friendly, Welcoming, and Delicious!
Bill and Margaret were very friendly and welcoming; the room was spacious and very comfortable with a king size bed and a great sower in the en suite. The three course breakfasts prepared by Margaret every morning were fantastic!
Perfect in every way.
We stayed with Bill and Margaret for three days of our honeymoon trip around New Zealand. We genuinely could not have asked for a better place to stay whilst we explored the town and surrounding area. The welcome was spot on (including admonishing us for not telling them when we were arriving so they could collect us) and throughout our stay they were the perfect hosts; always happy to chat and share suggestions but without being overbearing in any way. The house is beautiful and feels wonderfully homely. We were upgraded to the beautiful upstairs suite with our own sitting room and massive en-suite. The garden is an oasis of buzzing bees from the hive and beautiful plants. The friendly small dogs are a perfect addition (although can easily be kept out the way if you're not dog people). Breakfast, as described in other reviews is wonderful, we just felt bad that we couldn't finish it all and the invitation to join Margaret and Bill at their pop-up restaurant at the Blenheim farmers market on the Sunday rather than eating in the house added another dimension to our stay. In short, perfect. Thanks to our hosts for having us and being a key part of our wonderful three days in beautiful Picton.
Magnificent B&B experience
My husband and I️ stayed with Bill & Margaret on a stop over from the North Island. We had many questions prior to our trip and Margaret was quick to respond which is incredible during your planning process. Their B&B is absolutely incredible and we highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Picton. Every morning, Margaret and Bill served up an amazing breakfast and were so fun to talk to about our day. We had been traveling for a few weeks and needed to do a load of laundry, Margaret offered to do our laundry while we went out wine tasting! This level of service is paramount to ensuring you will be 100% relaxed. The quality of their food is magnificent! The service and accommodations are A+++! We will recommend to anyone traveling to NZ - thank you Bill & Margaret!!!! Disclaimer: this is not your typical “corporate” hotel setting. You will feel as though you are staying a family home. It’s cozy and comfortable. Have this mindset when booking your stay.
Fabulous classic style home with superb food!
3 course breakfasts were superb! We were throughly spoiled and felt bad about not being able to finish it all because it was so good. Definitely worth eating in for dinner too!. Kppilaw Houses is located is within 10 minutes walk from the harbor wharf where there are many tour companies operating cruises on the sound to experience dolphins, walk the Queen Charlotte track from Ship Cove, etc., etc. Margaret and Bill were very generous with their time and advice about the Marlborough wineries, and the road conditions heading south. We had a lovely stay!
Pick of Picton
I couldn't recommend a stay at Kippilaw House enough. From The moment my wife and I arrived Bill and Margaret went out there way to ensure we were catered for. The room was large, with all ammenities that you would find in a top hotel. The property is within walking distance of the restaurants of Picton.

Convenient Charm
Greeted by Bill and given the tour of our room and the lounge area we could access exclusively. Guided to a range of dining options in Picton, which was appreciated. The room was spacious, with a view over their abundant garden. Separate kitchenette area off the bedroom. Goodies included delicious grapes, plunger coffee and a good selection of teas. Lots of interesting little items throughout the room. Super comfortable bed, good quality linen. Large bathroom space. We were very tired after a long day of driving so retired early.
