Excellent
Excellent location. Close to the market and the metro.
great location… excellent front desk service . clean large room… would definitely return
The room was full of cigarettes butts in the balcony and the room smells horrible The location was excellent. They have to care more and improve the hotel
Staff were fantastic!
Great location near the souk and right across the street from a metro station. Walk to ocean views and museums. Nice kitchen area in the room with a good fridge. The bathroom is old and a bit worse for wear, but it is fine for the price. Some people may find the bed too hard.
It was a comfortable stay. The rooms need a deep cleaning though especially bathrooms as they have mold. Its on the street so was very noisy. The night manager was very professional, but the day crew could work on greeting guests with more respect, not like we are a bother and behave annoyed after just asking one question. Its really close to souq wagif and the National Museum, so location was great.
Across Metro station, next to the souq.
Great location and staff but the property needs update.
Good.
It is basic, old and tired. Great views though. Corridor on floor 8 has a smell. Staff are helpful. Nothing exceptional about this hotel and there are better hotels in a similar price range. Although not blatant, please note some guests/activity are not ‘family appropriate’. This review is not meant to be negative - just a honest reflection of my recent stay there.
The location is very good. But, the service at this hotel was terrible! Employees very unfriendly! Only the breakfast room employees was nice and polite, the front desk guy was totally rude. The lady was ok, but never smile or greeting the guest. The young guy at the pool ignore me totally don’t even answer when I said “ good afternoon” ! I can’t understand how people work in the hospitality businesses and never greeting they guests! When I did our check out, the employee just said: “ you are all set” he never said good morning, or thank you, or bye! To me this is extremely rude and unprofessional! I left the hotel feeling bad with all these rude and lack of Cortesy and kindness. Please, learn how to treat your guests.
They allow us to have the check in at 1 and we even got an upgrade of the room. The view is amazing and the hotel is very conveniently located close to metro station and some landmarks. I’ll stay here again without a doubt
Generally good and I would recommend. Location wise is very central and walking distance to Souq Waqif and the metro. You can also walk to the corniche. Room was big and spacious but I was upgraded so not sure about other rooms. Complimentary water provided each day. There is a fridge and microwave in the room. WIFI was fine. I didn't eat at the hotel nor include breakfast so I can't comment on food. My room had a stunning view of the Doha skyline. Staff were generally pleasant and friendly except the odd one or two. Hotel was generally clean. My difference between a 4 and a 5 rating is that the hotel needs a paint and to be updated. It looks old. Carpets desperately needed to be replaced. There was rust in the bathroom. Hotels in Qatar are not cheap so this is a good option.
Not good for family if u are family
Lovely property.Close to the souq waquif
Great
Excellent
It’s an old hotel, but for the price it would be hard to beat,
The hotel is very near the Souq Waqif metro, and the staff are really nice, but the rooms are not very clean - especially the carpet and windows - and the condition is really quite dilapidated, with the skirting and bottom of the furniture disintegrating. The place needs a renovation.
Location is good. Train station is 11 minutes away walking.
There is no parking
Bad place to stay in … Be away from kingsgate Super bad experience .
Beautiful and neat
Great Staff
It's always a great experience at Kingsgate. Very friendly staff. Thanks for all you do.
Fantastic
Friendly staff closed to shopping centers and restaurants
Incredible location
What a great place to stay at. 10-minute walk to souk Waqif, 2 minutes to metro, 5 minutes to local shops and local restaurants and small convenience style supermarkets. 25 minute walk to the National Museum of Qatar. Sure, it was the end of winter, so temperatures were low 20C (high 60s F). Staff were extremely helpful and all but one spoke great English (but he didn't need to). I had a 2020 flight out but was able to have a shower and change 4 hours after I checked out. I don't eat breakfast and ate out every day so I can't comment on the hotel's dining room. The price was fantastic and when I come back to Doha I will have the Kingsgate at the top of my list. The gym is well equipped, and I used it a number of times.
Great stay. Very Helpful staff. Excellent location. Couldn’t ask for any more. Highly recommended.
A simple property which is close to the souq , the corniche , the museums and the mshereib area along with easy access to the metro. Can’t complain
There was dust and dirt in the corner and behind the bed I told them to clean it but they didn’t
Wonderful hotel, received free upgrade and friendly service. Very nice breakfast. Huge rooms with kitchenette and nice view. Walking distance to souq waqif, corniche, al fanar islamic center. Great location and very affordable.
central location
property was central and walking distance to dining and shopping
Had a great experience with Kingsgate hotel. Staff are super good including security, cleaning staff and of course receptionist. I will definitely recommend it and will definitely stays in it in my next visit to Doha.
While everything else was fine, we were surprised that we booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids but got a delux suite with only one bed and no sofa pullout. Had to pay an extra 50 QR for another bed. Would have liked if this would have been called out earlier.
Good location , walkable to Souq . Close to airport . Quick no fuss check in
excelente
I stayed at this hotel for almost 10 days. They came into my room and cleaned without me knowing which I didn’t like. And when they cleaned the room they rinsed the cups and put them face down. When we went to use the cups we see that they’re not even washed. The sink in the en-suite was absolutely filthy with black mould all around. The bath was broken right in the middle and taped down. For the price we paid, definitely not what we were expecting. On the day we were leaving, they make a big deal about towels. They gave us 3 towels the day before and they were very adamant they gave 4 towels and we’re not letting us leave. Hence we got late for our flight.
The hotel is out dated, workers good service. I prepared to stay city center. Cost too much for transportation. From kingsgate hotel. City center no need to take car. Easy and safe to walk around.
For a three star hotel you're paying five star prices. Internet connection was not good and only allowed three devices to connect. Hot water in the bathroom sink was none existing. Only served breakfast. Amenities were small to include pool. Pool looked unclean.
Very friendly staff with good facilities. The hotel is showing its age and would benefit from a refurb. That said the beds were very comfortable and for the price paid I wasn’t expecting the Ritz!!
There is no parking near the hotel only a shared car park with residents which is always packed and hard to get a parking space. You will be waiting around 15 mins or so. There was a bad smell in the lobby of 3rd floor where we stayed at. When reporting this smell, they advised they “cleaned the carpet” but the smell lingered for almost 2 days. When asked to change rooms to a different floor, they didn’t accommodate. Average property if you just wish to sleep and continue your day exploring, but if you wish to spend a lot of time at your room or this hotel, then would recommend another. Swimming pool was small and gym is less than average.
Very comfortable stay
Great service, clean room, and nice view
Objectively speaking, this was easily the worst hotel experience in my life. Firstly, the sheets in my room were stained, the pillow case was stained, even the lamp was stained. I asked for an iron to straighten my white head dress and the iron they gave me essentially painted my white head dress green because of whatever was crusted on it. If you want a hot shower? Well I hope you aren't in a hurry because you'll have to wait 7-10 minutes for the water to heat up. Finally, the walls are paper thin and the hallways are littered with drunk people late night. I woke up at 2:30 AM to a drunk woman literally watching Bollywood music videos outside of my room on the loudest setting possible. On the very same night, after the lady was dealt with, another drunk man who was not staying at the hotel was loudly calling his girlfriend outside of my room trying to find which floor she was staying in! The security guard was nowhere to be found. Save your money and go somewhere else, because even after I complained to the reception they were unsupportive. I hope this helps.
Was good n clean
Nice location near to souq waqif
GOOD
The location is very convenient for tourists. Across a metro station and Souq Wahid. What botherd us was when they started do saw, drill and hammer in the building at 06:00 on a Saturday morning. It stopped after we complained. Will use this hotel again on a next visit.
Amazing location! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel doesn't have car parking and it's very hard to find a street parking within 1 km radius of the hotel
Good location for the Souq Wagif and friendly helpful staff. The rooms are in a poor condition and the hot water did not work.
Wonderfull
Ok
Clean. Good spot for tourism
The hotel is in a good spot for tourist visits. It's clean. The pool is small, it can't be called a swimming pool.
Got some kind of bug all up in my room bc I had leftovers sitting out of the microwave for less than 2 minutes....location is great, very close to souq waqif; rooms do show their age tho and for some reason were very stuffy/moist, I swear like my clothes were wet the next morning after I opened my suitcase the night I got in
Very nice experience always at kingsgate hotel the receptionist both are so nice I recommend in cheap price good property in side the rooms specially they provide oven that’s so good but this time the hair dryer of my room was not working but overall good
Perfect location and excellent customer service.
Definitely recommend staying in this hotel, everything is within walking distance. Great place to stay, and friendly staff!
super friendly staff. just hope they finish the construction around the area soon
Excellent customer service!
Customer service was great!!
Not what is described on previous reviews
The front staff was very nice (really only positive about this hotel). The hotel is in the middle of a construction zone. The construction workers shift started at midnight and went on until 5am. We got little sleep since the noise was extremely loud. The bed was hard. The toilet flushed but nothing really went down. I am not sure why this hotels has such high rating when it really should be a 5 out of 10...well a 6.5 out of ten due to the nice staff.
Dangerous construction all around hotel be warned
There was so much construction all around the hotel that it was dangerous to walk there no sidewalk and cars coming right at you it may not be the hotels fault directly but you at hotels.com need to mention this important factor to any potential guests booking this hotel it is a must to warn them of the dangers this construction Presents for anyone
I booked to stay at this property for a layover however Qatar had recently put Canadians on red list meaning I would have to quarantine for two days. I mentioned this to hotel staff via their phone number and at first it looked like they may be understanding and flexible to issue a refund. At first they seemed to be willing to help if they heard from Expedia about the cancellation. Then Expedia staff reached out to the property, they did not return their phone call. Expedia then reached out via email to advise of the circumstances and try issuing a refund since I was unable to stay for two days due to Qatar regulations. I would not recommend staying at this hotel as they cannot help with things out of your control and they are unresponsive nor understanding that the world is in a pandemic and they are just money hungry. Will never stay at this hotel!!
Nice and quite
Well worth booking
It is a perfect location righ across the street to the world famous souq watif and the metro. The staff is always going above and beyond. The manager is always from and always visible to oversee operations.
Quite place good for relaxation The construction was making it difficult to reach to the hotel
comfortable
nice and clean hotel , spacious rooms
Do not book - they will force you to go elsewhere
I stayed here twice. Both times they switched me to a different hotel at the time of my checkin. There was no warning at all, and by the time they switched me I couldn’t get a refund. The hotel they switched me to was the millennium central, which is not in a nice area of doha. The first time there my room smelled like smoke. Therefore the second time they switched me to go there I begged them to let me stay at Kingsgate or another one of their hotels but they refused. I was forced to stay at millennium central or lose my money. They should be ashamed for treating customers like this
The cleanliness and the appearance of the sister company hotel is nice.
Close to Souq and Metro (although it was closed due to COV 19.
Okay for a Long Layover
Looking for a place to stay for a 10 hour layover. The hotel has great views. Love that we had English speaking channels including CNN International. The hotel worked for a long layover to allow us to shower and sleep before heading back to the airport.
Decent one for the money
Service was good. Front desk person upgraded our room for free after seeing that we had a child. Room was decent. However, bathroom was cheap and old, with stains on floor of the shower area. Good for staying one night for a cheap price. Would have been great if they had free shuttle to the airport.
Great location to walk to the Souq Waqif and the Dhow harbor. A quick drive to the airport.
In general everything was okay. The only thing I didn't like was behavior of one of the receptionist - Ali, I think was his name. The guy with glasses speaking arabic. He doesn't seem to be happy with his work and like his duties are some kind of punishment. Zero eotions, cold look and no smile at all. Front desk should be more presentable. If I am going to look for the room and just walk-in to the hotel, I would leave immediately after 1-min talk with him. Otherwise okay!
Clean, friendly staff Location is near bus and metro stations but old neighbourhood
Good hotel with easy access to Souq.
We enjoyed the stay of two nights as easy check in and out with baggage storage before and after. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, clean and spacious room with kitchenette and strong wifi made it more appealing. Close to the Gold and Clothes (market) Souqs with plenty of good, reasonable eateries made it very handy. Would stay again.
The location was ideal for me and my family and also all the staff were excellent from the reception desk to the restaurante and also room service and luggage service help. All were great! The staff made us feel supported and at home! Highly recommended hotel!
Amazing days in Doha
Very good Hotel, great location. Metro a few steps, bus also. Good Price , I like it very much.
Loved having a little kitchen in the room, great for cold drinks and snacks and handy little shop in foyer if you didn't want to venture out. Staff very helpful and friendly
location and facilities. very clean and confortable
Good location very near to Metro and Souq Waqif best place to visit in Doha
The staff was very nice and friendly. They came by to clean the room once a day. There is no good parking for this hotel at all . I found a roach in the bed where I was sleeping. Which was very disturbing and cause me a lot of anxiety. I honestly wouldn’t pick this hotel again to stay at.
Will stay in it again.
Nice staff and a good place, 15 minutes from the airport, and 5 minutes from Souq Waqif.
Good value no frills hotel that is handy to museums and old market area. Bathroom ok, but a bit to TLC needed. Shower good though. Downside of the hotel is that the air conditioning seems to carry the stench of the smoking rooms. On a non smoking floor I was certainly smelling cigarette smoke.
Nearby empty lots are trashy. I had a trashy, dumpsters view.
Good hotel in good shopping area
It is a good 3 star hotel in Doha, my room was clean except one stain on bed sheet. WiFi worked very good I have no complain. There is bus station near so you can go to many places easily. There are few grocery shops close to hotel so you can buy water in hot days. Souq Waqif is around 10 min away. For shopping and transportation this area is good but for foods I didn't like it too much. I could go to my room at noon I was so happy for this because I got to the city in 6am.
Located 2 blocks from the bus station, this hotel is easily accessed from the airport by taking bus 747. Moving around town , like heading over to the mall in West Bay, is also a breeze , walk from the hotel 2 blocks to the bus station and jump on bus 76. The hotel is walking distance to the tourist areas, souq waif, pearl, museum, etc. The hotel itself is fine, the staff are friendly and kind, the kitchenette was terrific. A good bargain for a mid level hotel.
A NICE PLACE TO STAY, SPACIOUS ROOMS & GOOD AMENTITIES. STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL WITH ALL MY REQUESTS & LOCAL KNOWLEDGE.
Terrific location. As there is nothing in the kitchenette it seems a waste of time. Only two cups and one teaspoon. The location, cleanliness and staff make this a great place to stay.
Very good Restaurant service Excellent clean every staff is good food is good clean
They have friendly team and smart management, I enjoyed my second stay at the hotel and I can see a lot of improvement going on everyday.
Cheap but not good
The room was ok. But the bathroom was very small and ill planned. Hot water wasn't always available in the shower. And there's no restaurant or room service. so if anything other than breakfast is needed you have to get it from outside. The pool is basically just big enough to qualify as a pool. The gyn was nice and big. And always empty. walkable distance from the souq and MIA. And comfortable bed. So that was a plus.
A good stay. The location is great. The property was old but clean. The room was not ready when I arrived at 1:30pm but the staff was kind enough to allow me store my luggage and upgraded my room later on. An overall positive experience. Good value for money.
Location and Size of room are perfect, you need to focus on the housekeeping service, especially in the black areas of the room, the Queen size bed mattress is terrible, too hard and not comfort at all
Good location, only 10 minutes from MIA and 5 from the main local bus station. Rooms are fine, but mine suffered from no hot water for the entire three night stay. And the pool is tiny!
very good location, close to gold shops and shisha lounges.
The management team and restaurant team are nice and polite the hotel is close to business area and Souq Waqif
Happy
Close to everything friendly stuff
Convenient location, friendly staff, would stay again
Kingsgate Hotel Doha by Millennium Hotels | Hotel in Doha | Travala.com
The hotel is near of what you need souq waqef, metro station, gold market, etc, The room is spacious, but the mattress left me with a sore back. The AC rattles like an old engine, though thankfully, the window opens to let in fresh air. The bathroom? Don’t expect luxury—no fancy products here, just half-empty shampoo bottles that hint at better days. As for the staff, they’ll make you question who’s really in charge… though the receptionists and the cleaning service are a bright spot—warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.
