Loved it!
Super cute!! Safe and comfortable. Highly recommend for a couple.
Very clean, compact room. Nicely outfitted small space, roomy closet with safe. Great location. Very nice value.
Nice quiet place. Breakfast included. Home feeling
Comfortable Stay
Comfortable rooms, good service. Cold showers at times. Only one lift (I appreciate it is an old building). When arriving back to hotel late security and reception staff could be slightly abrupt.
Love my stay here in this hotel. The place is quiet and no problem with parking ( well of course you have to pay). Breakfast is just fine. The hotel has a vintage British feel to it which i like. Its near CVS Pharmacy and other diners. I am considering to book here when i come back..
My Stay
This was my first time staying here. My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed the service, the hospitality and the yummy continental breakfast.
Very surprised of all the enhancements very pleasant stay
A lot of homeless around the area. Nosiy
Best mattress and pillow in,a hotel ever
Great place , very central located , Powell train station just a few blocks away that takes you right at the airport
Great value as always
Always a great stay at the King George. Staff are consistently friendly and location is fantastic. Really enjoyed the coffee, pastries, and fruit in the morning. Will definitely book again for my next San Francisco trip.
Was AMAZING, love this cute little hotel.
No hot water
Good value for your stay
You get what you pay for @ King George... Lobby is fine - but the rooms are VERY dated. All good though, rooms were clean and was able to sleep fine. Didn't use the room for much else than sleeping...
Rooms did not have Queen beds, maybe Twin beds. Rooms were next to a building with very loud air-conditioning or blower units right next to the windows. Windows old and poorly sealed, noise unbearable.
Location is awesome
Not a good stay
Not a great hotel, old building with windows letting draft of cold air from outside, heaters not working adequately, breakfast is a joke!
I will definitely stay again
Very good hotel, very well located, comfortable, clean and with very friendly staff. It is a great option in terms of quality & price
The bath tub/shower was too small and the curtains kept rubbing on me. Some parts looked rusted in the bathroom. Not a bad stay, just very average.
King George.. A mix of classic and modern...
Location was great... Staff was fantastic... We have stayed before and will stay again.... Bummer that the bar was closed do to no bartender.... And I informed the staff they needed to have a little more then sheer curtains in the bathroom... We were on the second floor...
Friendly staff, clean room.
There is a loud noise coming from an adjavent buildind that makes it hard to sleep.
The young lady at the front desk was very kind, helpful and prompt :)
a little bit cold, no AC. But clean and quiet
Loved having the feel of the UK at this hotel in the heart of SF. Friendly staff, easy check in, clean rooms and convenient location to all we wanted to do and see within short walking or a short drive away. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again.
Staff was wonderful and got me into room early. Much appreciated
I wish it was at least a small refrigerator in the room!
Convenient location with connections to public transpoort
We loved the King Charles Hotel! It was whimsical, charming, and comfortable. The staff took care of everything that we asked for quickly and the were knowledgeable and helpful about the area. The room was clean and the vibe of the hotel was welcoming! The coffee was great in the lobby in the morning. The Pinecrest Diner was across the street and our favorite place to eat while we were in San Francisco. We definitely recommend the King Charles Hotel!
There was a huge generator/ HVAC on the rooftop of a next door building. It was very, very noisy. Could not sleep well.
Suuuuuuper soft beds no bueno for me personally. Otherwise great value, good location and a nice little pastry fruit and coffee breakfast!
Not great
This is not a great place to stay. On the plus side the location is great for Union Square area and the staff was super-nice. The rest isn't so good: they "upgraded" me to the "parlor suite" which sounded great until I got there. Pretty spacious but the furniture was nasty, old, stained, mismatched. I wouldn't even sit on it. The carpet was worn out and stained, wallpaper peeling, etc. The bed linens seemed new, though, and the bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom was fine. So, if you just need a place to sleep, it might be ok if your standards aren't very high but otherwise I would avoid it.
Very Difficult Team to Deal With
They were impossible to deal with.
Not the best. Very dated!
Loved this quick and easy trip to San F for the Hot Chocolate 5k. So easy to find and parking was a breeze. Asked for late check out but didn’t need it!
Had a connecting room with a very thin, janky door. No central air so only windows, no handsoap provided, strange metal pipes exposed, very very small room
Everything was almost perfect. We loved it, but the bar was closed the entire week we were there. It's such a beautiful bar, it really needs to be open.
When you just need a clean place to sleep in Union Square, this works.
It was great
car wasn't there and the staff wasn't helpful.
Great place,.so close to all that we did. Very quiet as well
super easy to park across the street, lots of energy in the area
Location is excellent. Staff was great and very helpful.
Easy access to amenities. Nice and clean.
Dont Stay Here!!!
Brutal. My flight was delayed so i showed up a day late and they had cancelled my res. without notifying. They finally checked me in...but to someone elses room. Like an occupied room. They charge you $10 US a night for the privilege of staying there. That fun bar that is in all the pictures is never manned. I had asked the GM to reach out to me so i can go over some of these greivances and not a peep. $55 USD a night for parking. The area is a dump and the rooms are teeny tiny. Dont stay here.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was simple but excellent and the coffee was great too! Will definitely come back here and the location is really good.
The property is really beutiful! The amenties included a continental breakfast, pool table and foosball table. Staurs are a little steep, but there's an elevator so you dont have to take the stairs.
This hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District. The rooms are compact but comfortable and our bathroom was well designed and immaculate. The lobby is charming and the general vibe is very welcoming. Highly recommended.
I always stay at the king George when visiting San Francisco. Fantastic location, amazing staff, and consistent experience. Can’t recommend the value and quality enough!
Awesome location. Staff were great!
The staff gave another guest access to my room. Said guest let me know otherwise i never would have known. Night front desk girl was rude and abrasive. Obviously she didn't want to be there.
No fault of the hotel, but the area has become grittier than it used to be, and chanting and drumming from the chain hotel strikers was relentless. Staff was great! The hotel was clean, and safe.
.
We made a really good choice by staying here, the check-in was quick, easy and welcoming. The hotel is located in good walking distance to everything. It made it easy to get around and see as much as SF as we could. I would definitely recommend it. Also, there’s a car park across the road and this was about $38 dollars per day so that helped us leave the car for a few days and get about on foot
Pros: One of the only hotels that offered two beds. Cons: There was a dispute with the workers and hotels going on that had them banging pans and microphones pleading there needs morning to night.
Great price for a pretty good hotel. Couldn’t figure out how to run the AC, but SF is cold enough without it.
Ok time
The bed is too elevated for me. There was also a wet spot on the carpet. Water must have leaked from the steam heater.
Nice accommodations
Always stay here when in town. Nice accommodations. Only complaint is the fact I was charged extra bc I arrived 40 mins early for my room Check in.
No AC, and older single pane windows to open. This led to listening to the loud protests going on down the street. The staff at this hotel are extraordinary in every way. That made this hotel a great San Francisco stay!
Excellent hotel. Would stay there again.
nice
it was very close to the August Hall , I liked that
Bed comfortable Appreciated the continental breakfast
Good value and super close to parking garage.
It was close to a lot of things
Excellent staff. Location convenient. Quiet rooms.
Excellent hospitality and convenient location.
You get charged a significant extra fee for coffee, water and pastries and you pretty much have to fight to get any. It’s not convenient timing that it’s available and it’s certainly not plentiful. Hotel shows its age. Nothing special, they really can’t justify the extra service fee.
Loved the view I had of the city. xx
We stayed just for one night and it was fine. We paid 10 usd extra as some amenity fee which was not posted on expedia while I was booking it.
I was disappointed with my stay. The rooms were small and lacked air-conditioning, making it uncomfortably hot at night. It felt like the heater was on full blast, adding to the discomfort. Despite an amenity fee, the amenities were lacking there was no smart TV, and the TV provided was quite small. I was especially disappointed one evening when I wanted to take a bath, only to find the bathtub drain was broken. Overall, the experience did not meet my expectations. However, I will say that the staff is very very nice. The facilities are pretty beautiful, and it was pretty affordable for the area.
The location is perfect, busy area, but not as noisy as some people make it sound. The room was perfect for 2 people and the bed very comfortable
Amazing!
Nice cafeteria next door
Great property but not enough water pressure to take a shower
Good value hotel. It's a decent place to stay if you are not hanging out in the room and are there to visit SF. The hotel strike was going on, which was not part of the hotel, but the single pane window allowed the noise to really affect sleep.
Fun place. We weren't in it for luxury, just a convenient place to crash for the night, and this suited us just fine! It is a bit noisy, so I'd recommend earplugs, but the lobby is fun, the breakfast is small but adequate, and the staff was nice.
The staff at this Hotel are friendly and helpful, but the facilities are sub-standard. The is no fridge, no airconditioning and the walls are paper thin, making it very hard to sleep. It is only the location that saves it.
The hotel is small and outdated. They tried to maintain the old vive of this hotel. That would be okay as long as they can maintain the facilities. The door lock in the bathroom is busted. Would have been better if they serve a full breakfast. Nonetheless the location is convenient and near BART Station and the Union Square Shopping District.
Good hotel and convenient location. The staff were friendly but didn't offer any option on storing medication (We needed a fridge but there wasn't one available and no alternative was offered).
Outstanding staff! Hotel is a bit outdated but the service and staff make up for everything. Rooms are really clean and comfortable
Old hotel, room very small, elevator tiny but staff was really kind and helpful. Very close to eating places that range from Jack in the box to Italian restaurant. Near Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Louis Vuitton etc. It all balanced out … I had a great time!
Great value, good staff.
Good deal for the area
I liked that it was centric, the staff was kind and approachable. I guess the down side is that the room didnt have AC and it would get kinda hot.
Nice boutique hotel
Adjacent protests were way noisy.
Quaint, Older Hotel Run Well
These older hotels in central San Francisco have the challenge to compete with newer hotels constructed with larger rooms, hallways and meeting spaces. The King George does well enough with the age of the building, but it IS rather cramped. If combining rooms to allow for more room is not in the plans, then keeping room rates low will continue to be critical.
Expensive for what it’s offering
Wonderful staff and fantastic vicinity to public transport.
The first early morning, the was a false fire alarm. The second day, the toilet didn’t flush properly. The furniture and the curtains were too old & dirty looking.
Good, but the bathroom door knob didn't have a lock. No body wash either.
Good location, great staff too
Love this hotel. It’s my favorite place to stay in the city. Friendly staff, easy parking, king size bed and lots to do in the area!
High value stay at the King George
Due to the very welcoming lobby staff and comfortable room, we would absolutely recommend the King George Hotel. There is a cool pool table, dart board, foosball, and shuffleboard table in the back lobby, but these close way to early for use after 10pm, unfortunately -- and the lobby bathroom could be more clean. However, the bedroom is spacious and comfortable, and the location is perfect with reasonable parking across the street. A definite value for the price.
The property is convenient to shopping, dining, and cable car station. Other than a few carpet stains, the property is exceptionally clean. Parking garage was across the street and valet parking is available at the property. As in any big city, there is city noise. I have stayed at this property for close to 40 years and will continue to!
Nice boutique hotel near union square
Nice hotel in reasonable location, great service good pastries and coffee on offer for breakfast. Great staff. Noisy area with strikers picketing outside the nearby Hyatt / Hilton hotels from 7am till 11pm but that’s not the George’s fault! Recommended!
.
Very clean and very friendly
