Nice room, great location, small parking garage
Superb hotel. Small self-parking garage. Check-in was super smooth. Clean room, comfy bed. Great location.
Restaurant needs a la carte options.
This hotel is mostly okay, but with a few minor tweaks would be great! I'm so glad they finally have a restaurant again. However, I am unsure how many business travelers need an 11-course tasting menu dinner every night. I can't believe that's all they offer! Yes, there are a lot of walkable restaurants in the neighborhood, which I did enjoy instead. When the weather is rainy, cold, and windy, the last thing I want to do is leave the hotel and would have liked to have an easy a la carte option at the hotel restaurant. Also, the rooms are not equipped with coffee/tea makers. I did ask and they brought me a tea kettle in the evening, which was very kind. Service was great and the bed was comfy. Easy parking, too.
Best Hotel in SF
We stayed a whole week for business. Everything was great! The cleaning staff was amazing.
Discerning Staff Action
I went with my daughter for business in Real Estate near by. The room was nice. Missing the door hanger for privacy and a robe in the room. There was a man talking very loudly in Spanish right outside our room for over an hour and I needed to call the front desk to ask for him to stop. That was not an acceptable situation. Worker should be aware of guests rooms and refrain from loudly talking in any language angrily interfering a paying guest stay. We even turned the TV on for 20 minutes to try and drown him out, but it was unsuccessful. We are regular guests that come for business in SF and that was the first time anything has even happened like this and it was discerning that the staff is not better educated on their location and conduct in the gorgeous hotel we pay over $400 a night to stay at.
Good location. Rooms are dark-need better lighting-and sparse
There was a huge vomit stain by the bed on the carpet. Very gross. We will not stay at this hotel again.
wonderful hotel adjacent to Japantown, no gym
The good stuff: - Staff very friendly - Bed/linens seemed new, room very comfortable - Complimentary coffee in AM and happy hour in PM - Excellent location across street from Japantown shops and restaurants, and SFMuni bus line #2 stop Considerations: - breakfast in restaurant only, did not have opportunity to try it. - Restaurant is high end for dinner, I was going to look into it but it was closed on Mondays. - Picture in hotel description shows a small but functional gym space with treadmill and long rack of dumbbells. When I got there the "gym" looked like a former closet, only a few dumbbells and a few square feet of floor space. I would stay here again but plan to take a class at the nearby orange theory fitness.
Safe and convenient
We like the location of the hotel, many restaurants around, it is close to popular tourist attractions, and the area is safe. We also like their parking garage.
Wonderful stay at our favorite hotel in the area. The hotel staff provide exceptional service.
Loved the stay!
Parking was a hassle because it’s limited at the hotel. Aside from that a great place In J Town and near the Fillmore.
Wonderful, quiet get away spot
Great, quiet hotel central to many areas of the City. Really a surprise find for us.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
Weekend in Japantown
We have stayed at this location before but this hotel has changed hands and was completely remodeled. It was beautiful and the beds were extremely comfortable. Parking was a problem as the garage filled up quickly. However the attendant made sure to find room for us so that was appreciated. The only negative was the restaurant. It was too expensive and the choice for breakfast was limited. The offering was set and there was no chance to order a la carte. The only thing I could eat was the chicken and waffles, but I can't eat eggs or yogurt so I was disappointed and that was too much food for breakfast. Since we were in Japantown, I was hoping for a Japanese breakfast as an alternative. There was only one other person in the restaurant. In the past, there were real breakfast options! We stayed and ate there because we felt sorry for the waiter, but if we stay there again we will eat across the street, plus $25 is a bit steep for what we were served.
Very clean, spacious and comfortable room. Staff was very kind and helpful. Free evening wine and saki was a bonus! Also directly across the street from Japan town courtyard. Walkable to the Fillmore, which is our reason for booking. We will come back to the Kimpton Enso!
The hotel is completely lovely, safe and clean.
Japantown gem
Very nice: comfortable, clean and low profile, conveniently located in Japantown.
We had a great stay here! Clean, quiet, safe, updated and big room for us (3 adults and 1 child). Conveniently located right next to Japantown Mall, had delicious dinners there (Osakaya and Seoul Garden). Walkable to a good breakfast places (Sweet Maple and Pistachio Cafe). Water filter and ice, right next to our room in the hall. Coffee and hot chocolate included, every morning. Sadly we missed the wine happy hour since we were out and about from 5-6 pm but I love that they had that available! We found cheaper overnight parking at Hotel Kabuki, just a short walk away. Would definitely stay here again!
Great location, clean and Nice Rom. Friendly staff.
I didn’t like that the hotel didn’t have tea and coffee facilities in the room and room service if needed to order food.
The service was great very clean and a good size room
We liked the location, The bathroom door had a one inch gap between the door and wall it was attached to, minimizing any privacy when using the bathroom. There were no cups in the bathroom for toothbrushes. The most annoying thing was that whenever the people next door slammed their door the whole room we were in shook
very close to shopping centers and very clean.
This place is so convenient and so cordial. Loved it would definitely stay there again.
Great place to stay!
Great location if you want to explore the neighborhoods of SF (you should). The hotel room was large and had plenty of space. It was clean and modern. The craftsmanship in the bathroom wasn’t great. It was very hard to maneuver the door, the door had a gap where you could see someone on the toilet, the shower door didn’t seal and got water all over the floor. These weren’t a big deal but just signs that some of the work was shoddy. We didn’t make use of a lot of the amenities but they seemed nice. I would recommend the hotel for sure.
Comfortable staying
Front desk is very helpful and nice. Room was clean and comfortable.
Very poor service and amenities Shower leaked Repairman did not fix it!!
Convenient to area
The room was overbooked and the front desk didn’t help. There is no additional clean folding bed and there is no room service at all when arrived. The room I paid additional fee is the city view two people bedroom and I ended up with my friend in a one bed room in the basement floor.
Room was clean and didn't feel cramped. Love the food options within walking distance.
Every detail was 👍. Close to The Fillmore, our night-time destination, made it safe and easy returning to your hotel. Thank you!
Very, very comfortable beds and nice afternoon wine in the lobby.
Convenient, very walkable with shops and restaurants close by.
It would have been nice to know that parking was limited on a first come first serve basis. Otherwise I would have not booked at this hotel. Alternative parking is 5 to 6 minutes away walking. I was told it was 'safe' only to find to be accosted by a person dealing drugs at the parking structure. Yikes.
This is my second time staying at this property, and I love it! Always clean, the staff are friendly, and I love the coffee set up in the morning. Also make sure to ask for a plant friend when you check in! Such a cute program.
👌
I just loved everything about this quaint hotel. There are so many thoughtful details like the filtered water fountains in the hallways and beautiful artwork in almost every space. Best of all it’s walking distance to everything one might need yet quiet and relaxing.
in love with with this place
We had a great weekend stay!
Great location and extremely friendly staff in the front and also the housekeeping.
Onsight parking however was limited
I understand we were only for 1 night and late checking in, but having the room directly over the roller door to the parking garage below and adjacent to the dumpsters didnt feel the most VIP stay, but the staff were great, friendly and professional.
Good hotel in a very nice area. Large room and bathroom and free wine every day between 5-6pm
not for me
Hotel is dated. Room is not attractive and bathrooms are dark. Nothing I expected based on price or reviews. I couldn’t wait to leave and checked into the 1 hotel the following day.
Save your money do not stay here
This hotel is one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at. The receptionist was rude on the phone as well as when trying to check in. Once I checked in another manager and a handy man were raising their voices walking all around the lobby arguing about work. The WiFi is awful do not try and work from this hotel. I had to take the day off because the WiFi will not work. Do not stay here they are not accommodating
Great service
Kimpton Enzo.
Was supposed to get a bottle of wine at checkin. Never did. Room was extremely dusty. Light fixtures and coat hook were very dusty. Somewhere near us, a pump of some kind would start every so often and it was loud and annoying.
Fantastic stay!
What a wonderful experience! Here are some of the highlights: -They have parking, a rare commodity in SF, and the spots are actually big enough to fit a normal sedan. -All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. -Evening/happt hour wine in the lobby -Location: directly across the street from Japantown. About a 20 min walk to Davies Symphony Hall. -Room: It was nice staying in a room that seemed like it was designed for real travelors. Walking in there were hooks to hang jackets, raincoats, umbrellas, etc. They even had loaner umbrellas! In the bathroom, there was tons of space and even places to put your toiletries. There is a full size ironing board, and even a robe (which is typical in Japan.) Hot water was basically instantaneous. Next to the bed, both nightstands had to sets of plugs and two USB outlets. No need to fight over where to charge your devices. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. There was a wardrobe, along with a safe and fridge. Overall, it was an extremely comfortable stay and I highly recommend it.
Loved wine hour at 5:00. Very friendly staff!
Very comfortable and exceptional service.
Great location
Second time staying here. Rooms are clean, well decorated and spacious. Hotel is close to lots of restaurants. Great public transportation. Friendly staff.
Great location right across the street from Japantown. Make sure to prepay your parking, as it's cheaper and they run out of spots. Overall the hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious. We will stay here again when we come back. Complimentary wine bottle when we arrived and coffee in the morning was a nice touch.
Very nice hotel, centrally located, next to Japantown. Recommended!
I always have high expectations of a Kimpton property. Enso did not disappoint! Clean, spacious room with a cute enclosed balcony nook. Located in Japantown, with plenty of excellent dining options and perfectly walkable. I would stay here again.
Room was big and loved the window seating.
Friendly staff and great location close to Japantown and shops on Fillmore.
Clean, safe , comfortable beds and pillow Refreshing shower Coffee provided but no breakfast on site But quite of a few restaurants in walkable distance Area reasonably safe , day time very safe In Japan town , which has a good flavor of that culture
The two hours I was there it was awesome.
I checked out 2 hours after arriving to the Hotel. My trip was cut short due to personal reasons. I was able to quickly use the restroom, change clothes, refresh my makeup and Uber back to the airport for my flight home. Unfortunately the bed was never touched however by the look of it i am sure it was. The room was. Very clean and the manager was excellent as far as customer service. I am very picky on where i stay and this hotel is worth your money. You will not be disappointed.
This is the hotel to stay when in Japantown.
Excellent location in Japantown. Happy Hour (glass of wine) is an added plus. The courtyard in the middle with fireplace and games is nice to relax. Felt very safe and also very welcomed by the team. The parking is safe and close to the entrance.
Very cool location . Nice staff.
Nice location in Japan town.
Good option in Japan town. Booked this hotel since it was a VIP access property but none of VIP benefits were provided. They did provide late check out for ihg members.
Well-priced option - Pacific Heights/San Francisco
A great option for a clean, friendly and well-located upper-mid hotel in Pacific Heights area. Great neighborhood - where some of the issues S.F. struggles with in a few square blocks of downtown are not present. Super warm and friendly front desk staff, free wine hours in eve and coffee in the AM in their small but well kept and useful lobby lounge - with a work desk area too. Good WiFi.
Kind and friendly staff, quiet and safe area with good food nearby.
Staff was extremely helpful with requests and made first stay there so easy.
It was a good location. Great bed and space in a room.
Overall pleasant stay. Very convenient. Hope to see upgrading shampoo/conditoner/body wash to the ones that are made in USA.
Hidden Gem in Japantown, conveniently located walking distance from everything. Japantown is much safer than other areas like financial district or marina. Hotel is mall, boutique style, rooms are spacious and and cleanliness was great. Will be back!
Amazing hotel. Super clean. Little gem away from the downtown chaos
Close to the Mt. Zion hospital which is what I needed. Room could use more lighting. 1 tiny lamp did not give enough light at night.
Everyone was kind and attentive property was pristine. Would definitely come back to stay here.
Perfect location to walk to Fillmore Auditorium for live music
Great service, clean rooms that comes with all the essentials.
Location is excellent. We enjoined happy hour with good selection of wine. When you first walk into your room, bathroom door was opened outward all the way and blocking your way into the room. We stayed in rm 603. That was the only minus factor. Otherwise we had the comfortable stay. Thx.
It was really t
Great location and staff. Nice room with a comfortable bed. The gym is small though. If you are looking to work out, this isn’t for you. Overall, great experience otherwise.
Great location. Safe. Staff was understanding and accommodating. Room was huge, beds were comfortable. Would stay here again.
So far so good. Easy to park, right across the street from JapanTown and easy to find too. We will see how the night goes but it is quiet now at 8:25p on a Wednesday night.
Nice staff, convenient location. Super comfy beds.
Fear hotel
Kimpton Emso hotel was fantastic! Staff was super helpful and the view from our room was incredible!
I had a great stay at your hotel this past week. The room that I was in was a little loud during the day, but the amenities were very nice.
Quick check-in, great service! We arrived during the Cherry Blossom Festival so it was super busy. I was able to check-in an hour early and purchased a parking pass for 2 nights. Rooms were in the back of the building so it was quiet at night for us. Their fitness room and patio was locked every time we tried to entered so make sure to ask at the front (we didn't bother to). We asked for a coffee maker and microwave in our room and they sent someone up within 30 minutes to bring it to us which was awesome.
First time staying here. Nice staff, clean and comfy rooms. Thank you!
Room was clean. The fridge didn’t seem to work and a strange sound came from the bathroom every so often throughout the entire night. Didn’t complain but thinking now I should have said something
Went to the Fillmore for a concert, easy walk. Fun neighborhood, Japantown.
Great place to stay if you're in town for a show at the Filmore
Great spot!
Perfect hotel! Walking distance to the Fillmore
Really nice room
This was a really nice room in a good location for our family to explore Japantown, the Fillmore District, and take the bus across town to the Embarcadero district, North Beach, and Chinatown. The staff was really nice, there was hot coffee in the lobby every morning, and we were able to store our luggage to explore the city further after checking out of our room.
The staff was amazing and friendly! Especially Ed
We fully enjoyed our stay here... Room was clean and there was plenty of room. staff was helpful. You had to ask for amenities like a hair dryer, but I believe you could get one. But it was very clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable, there were enough outlets.. I can't think of anything negative about it. It was perfect for what we needed it for. Had a small fridge, no microwave, and no coffee in the room (coffee downstairs was very good) Overall, this place was great!!! Would recommend!
Great stay in J-town, SF
Very friendly front desk staff, nicely appointed room. Excellent location in Japan Town area.
Front desk hard to reach
The hotel room was clean, the robes were a nice touch. Tons of extra towels which we appreciated. Only issue we had when we first got there was the TV wasn’t working. We called the front desk and it took a long time to get through. They said they would send someone up to check out the TV. But about 15 minutes after we hung up, the TV started working all of a sudden. We didn’t know if it was handled remotely, so we tried calling the front desk to cancel having someone come to our room. However, it took so long for someone at the front desk to answer the phone, we just hung up and the workman had to make a trip up for nothing (which took 40 minutes for someone to come anyway!). Besides the front desk not being very accessible by phone, our stay was fine.
Convenient location. Parking is very limited and I could not get out as a staff member parking front of my car
Get rid of the floral air spray in lobby
The downstairs lobby was heavily sprayed with a floral air perfume. It was so strong that I wondered if they were trying to cover up an odor. Strong recommendation: don’t spray with perfumed air sprayers. Bedroom was clean and all functioned fine. Entrance outside needsssome attention.
Great stay
Walked in on
The hotel is quite lovely. The art and the vibe are right up our alley. Having room service walk in on me butt ass naked at 8am on a Sunday morning is the most ludicrous thing the staff could do. No apology, no nothing. When I told front desk I was told “yeah, that happens sometimes”. Well, in my 42yrs that is a first. Most likely will not be staying again do the lack of concern.
I really like the service from the staff members. .it was very friendly and helpful.
Great stay in Japantown!
The staff were incredible and accommodating. The room was recently renovated and very comfortable. The hotel will only get better as they bring back the restaurant! Looking forward to staying here again. Love the proximity to Fillmore St.
We were there one night and enjoyed thoroughly. This hotel is stylish, well thought out and very comfortable. We will return whenever possible.
Kimpton Hotel Enso by IHG | Hotel in San Francisco | Travala.com
Room was really nice and they offered hand lotion in a large pump and hand soap in a large pump. It’s the little things that help. They also brought up a microwave to use.
