Great hotel in excellent location in Plaka
Great hotel in excellent location in Plaka near cathedral. Clean basic room perfectly adequate and great value with WiFi. Good cafe opposite. George was very welcoming and friendly and recommended a number of excellent restaurants, gave us a street map and looked after our bags after checkout. Would definitely return to Hotel Kimon
The photo attached to this review is VERY misleading. Kimon Hotel entrance is up the street from the corner shown in the picture, and does not look anything like what is seen in the photo. The hotel is convenient for tourists wanting to walk to the main transport routes, and is close to many restaurants.
Loved the location… old town plaka and lovely square on your doorstep. The welcoming staff George and Mary are brilliant . Super friendly and great at recommending sights and local restaurants. Great value… no frills hotel. Large rooms and added bonus of a rooftop deck with views of the acropolis.
Best hotel!!
George at the desk here was truly amazing. Went out of the way to accommodate us and help us do our boarding passes. Highly this a hotel to anyone. Great location close to the Plaka.
The hotel was nice, not great but nothing bad about it either. The area around the hotel leaves something to be desired. It is conveniently located, an easy walk from public transportation and to many shops and restaurants. The bed and bed linens were comfortable, but nothing to write home about. It's a good, inexpensive option!
Lovely hotel, great location. Lovely host, very helpful.
Close to main points. Staff very nice.
An excellent overnight stay in a central location following our Greek cruise. Easy walk to so many sights in Athens, and easy walk back to train station for airport - this ended up being particularly important, as our daughter was on crutches for our holiday! No lift in the building, however staff were very kind with arranging a first floor room for us when we arrived, early check-in, and brilliant communication in the lead up to our stay. Everything was perfect, beds were comfortable, and the balcony overlooking the lively street area such a fun bonus. Staff warm and friendly, and very helpful with directions on getting to key sights. Thank you.
Great location, but not the hotel style I like.
Great hotel, great location.
Great location, good room, good A/C. Perfect hotel for us (Baby boomer retired couple).
What an excellent location. So close and walkable to all the main sites and great restaurants. The front desk staff is so helpful. Mary definitely went above and beyond for us. We (myself, husband and son) had room 303. What a fabulous room! It was on the top floor and opened up to a beautiful shared terrace that had a nice view of the acropolis. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The main room had a king size bed that was extremely comfortable and a small mounted TV. Another section had a large TV and a nice sized sofa. On the other side of the bedroom area, there was a small area that had a twin bed and the bathroom. The bathroom was more than adequate, but the shower area was very small. The hotel provided olive oil soap and shampoo. As others have mentioned, there is not an elevator on site and as we stayed on the third floor, we had many stairs to navigate….but it was worth it. It was so nice to have breakfast on the terrace and be able to see the acropolis. The terrace is much larger than what I thought it was based on photos I had seen. The hotel does have air-conditioning, but we were there in the middle of a heat wave and the room never really got very cool. However, we keep our air very low at home so that may just be something that was particular to us. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Athens.
This hotel conveniently located to syntagma square where you can take the metro one stop to the acropolis. Meat the Greek had excellent souvlaki and the wait staff Constos was great.
Great place for the price, staff is excellent, Marie was very helpful. Location, Location, Location! For this price and this location and condition of hotel cannot be beat! There is three floors and no elevator, so caution there, but otherwise I would definitely recommend and stay there again!
Great little spot close to everything (in an easy 12 min walk, you could have almost all the dining, shopping, Acropolis, and Metro station options you need). The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed (space is compact and functional). There was a great upper terrace for relaxing or catching an Acropolis view at night). Most notably, the staff was absolutely amazing! George (who worked most of the four days we were there) gave us a bunch of local food recommendations, was always right there with guidance, and went out of his way to assist with everything (from umbrellas to trains).
Nice service
Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of Plaka. So walkable to all of the historical sites and very cute streets to wander around.
10/10
It was my second visit in this boutique hotel and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. A hidden gem in the heart of Athens. Will come again
Fantastic location and very nice hotel
This hotel is in a great location! It is within walking distance of all the sites in the city centre, such as the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Ancient Agora and Lycabettus Hill. Very close to some great restaurants too, as well as within walking distance of Syntagma Square, Monastiraki Square and Psirri Square. Our room was comfortable, the shower was great and the fridge in our room was a real plus point. All the staff were lovely and helpful and our room was cleaned to an excellent standard. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
Nice place close to all the action so-to-speak in Plaka. Rooms were up-to-date, clean, and maintained. Pleasant stay overall, no complaints.
Great value, Great location
Great location in Plaka but close to Monistiraki. Also just 5 mins walk from Syntagma square for parliament building (and airport bus). Best value hotel with friendly staff made this stay perfect.
Excellent location, clean, friendly and very simple, no elevator however
We only had a short time in Athens but this hotel was perfect. The man at reception was so welcoming and helpful. (sorry I forget his name!) the location was perfect for a short stay so near to the acropolis and it was a lovely view from the terrace outside the room. Cute shopping and great restaurants within 10 minutes walk.
Superb location in the center of the action without breaking the bank. Not for people with disabilities: no elevator. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are small but comfortable. Our had an amazing balcony with view and seating area overlooking the cathedral of Athens.
It is located in the center of downtown Athens with easy access to Plaka and other neighborhoods with lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. The main orthodox cathedral is across the street. Coming here by train it is better to stop at Syntagma Square, to you go downhill to the hotel. and leaving, it is better to use Monastiraki Square (to keep going downhill). They do not have night staff but leave you a # to call in case of emergencies. We had no issues and this place was so close to so many attractions that cannot talk better about it.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very walkable location close to Plaka and most ancient Athens sights. Close to public transport. Property is a little old and dated but in good condition and is kept clean. The only downside is street noise late into the night. We like open windows but closing them and using the ac was the better choice. I would stay here again.
Will stay there again.
Athens first time
We had a very nice stay in Athens. George greeted us and recommended a nice breakfast place across the street. We were within walking distance of the Acropolis and Plaka.
In a quiet location walking distance from a lot of restaurants and the acropolis. The view of the acropolis is not necessarily spectacular, but it is visible from the roof top patio. We were able to walk from the subway station to the hotel with our carry-on luggage
The staff was very nice, location is great!
This hotel was in fabulous location. Easy walk to buses, shopping, restaurants, Acropolis & tons of sightseeing. Loved the outdoor terrace upstairs. The staff was nice.
Excellent 24 stay in the centre of Athens!
George at the front desk is so welcoming and friendly. He gave me really good recommendations on how to get the most out of my stay in Athens. The rooms very cozy, very clean, with a nice balcony. Wifi was reliable and air conditioning was perfect. Location was amazing! Walking distance to everything, including metro. I would definitely stay here again!!
What a gorgeous place to stay, with an open terrace overlooking the Acropolis and in the heart of the shopping district. The family room is on the top floor and opens directly onto the terrace. The room was perfect for 4, clean and wonderful. This hotel offers a great experience, and the staff were very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel. We stayed on the third floor and that meant a lot of stairs. The staff was very helpful. The only criticism I have is that the description of the rooftop view of the acropolis was misleading. It is only a partial view. You cannot clearly see the parthenon from the terrace.
Well located and good value
Our stay was great! George, the front desk attendant was very helpful and friendly. We had a corner room so our balcony was on two sides. The city was very lively at night.
Super value for money
Very economic small, spotless room with inside view. It is OK for one or two nights if you are alone. The price is unbeatable for the location and the service.
Excellent value!
Amazing family room with full view of the Acropolis and terrace area. Very central location and charming staff
Really lovely stay! Great room with a cute little balcony all to myself; freshly revamped bathroom with fantastic new shower (tiny, but it’s in an older European building, so it’s exactly what one should expect for size.) Beds were a bit a spare at first glimpse but actually quite comfy! There’s a gem of a terrace on the top floor that peeks at the Acropolis and the nearby cathedral; the location is perfect for being close to all a tourist needs. Despite the proximity to the life of the quarter, the heavy blackout curtains and room shutters made for a perfectly dark room when snoozing. Bring your earplugs if you’re a light sleeper! (Not a fault of the hotel-nearly anywhere in the Plaka, you’ll need them.) The staff was very kind and accommodating, so hospitable. Highly recommend! If I’m ever in Athens again, I’d definitely try to stay with them!
Athen stay
Very convenient spot, and helpful staff
Nice balcony , rooftop and convenient location. Small shower.
Room wasnt as nice as lobby. Still ok. Huge balcony. View of cathedral. Roof area was great. View of acropolis. Shower was small. A bit of car noise. Came late and left early.
A real gem!
Beautiful little hotel in a convenient location in Athens! Close to metro and main attractions as well as restaurants and supermarket. We arrived early and because we had let them know in advance, one of our rooms was ready early for us! No breakfast included, but we had an early departure, so it wasn’t an issue.
Very traditional property in a great location. Clean and comfortable beds and rooms. Staff was very accommodating. Lots of stairs I’d staying on top floor. But view is great.
Dated no elevator.
Excellent stay
This was my oasis after a long trip from Canada. It was sparkling clean. The bed was super comfortable. I had a little balcony and there was a rooftop patio with acropolis views! Was central to everything I could hope for yet quiet street. Only down side was the stairs up to my room numbering 45. But beautiful clean white marble circular stair made it a pleasure. Safely was never a worry as Kimon is very secure. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a no frills, quiet place in the center of it all.
The hotel was right at the Plaka and only a 15 min walk to the entrance of the Acropolis. We had arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 4 am, we were quoted a price of 55 euros to the airport. The front desk gentleman helped arrange it and asked if we wanted to pay cash or charge to my credit card on file so we said cc. His English was excellent so were confident with the arrangement. The taxi cab arrived on time but then said we owed 61.50 euros. He didn’t speak any English and our Greek was minimal unfortunately. We were under the impression that the hotel paid already, plus the total quoted was only 55. We did end up paying the cab and contacted hotel. They said Gas surcharge was just implemented that day, but clearly hotel front desk has zero clue. So beware that if you stay here that the hotel does NOT pre/pay taxi and get it writing what the you’re quoted for rate prior to departure.
Great. No elevator.
Awesome, awesome. No elevator.
Very convenient and easy access with excellent amenities. tq
I had an economy room that was very efficient. It was very cozy, and the bed was great! Small surprises like the cordial and sweet bites found at the end of the day on my desk were extra special treats. I really appreciate the location, at the foot of the Plaka and in the middle of everything else.
Just what we needed.
This hostel had absolutely everything we needed for a one night stay. We arrived before check in and our room was ready, which we really appreciated after our long flight from Australia. It was in the heart of Athens and eveything was in walking distance including the Acropolis. The bed was super comfy and we would definately stay again.
Lovely clean rooms, friendly staff, close to the centre for food and drink.
It was in a convenient location within walking distance to food and shopping.
The lady at the front desk was super helpful with providing things to do in the area and extremely friendly!
Location is great, staff was very friendly, rooms were clean
Perfect
We stayed there for 2 days and was very delighted; very central, close to most historical sites we wanted to visit, the heart of the city. Clean room, helpful and welcoming staff. We got everything we expected.
Nice hotel. Excellent location in Plaka with easy walk to Syntagma Square. Room was top floor.
Unpleasant
No elevator. Policy of no visitors, which is horrible, given that we do pay for our stay and should have visitors as we like as long as they are behaving and as long as they don’t sleep over. Imagine somebody on a business trip but cannot meet anybody at his hotel room. The hotel has no lobby at all. I don’t know if you consider 2 old chairs next to the main entrance as a lobby! Rooms are not cleaned or arranged every day. We stayed 7 nights, and the room was not cleaned or arranged at least 3 days (I mean 3 times, which also included no clean towels either for those 3 days. One of the front desk lied about asking one of our visitor for IID and information as that was the occasion we found out that no visitors are allowed. The visitor wanted to actually confront and rebuke the front desk person when we informed him about what the front desk said. The remaining front desk personnel were friendly, but the hotel policies were unacceptable. Location is good, but I would never stay at this hotel again.
Great situation, great beds and showers.
We've stayed here before and love the situation, the scale and character of the hotel. The beds are the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel, memory foam, and with neck support pillows too. The shower is great, all-singing, all-dancing. But ... the room felt really tired - the bathroom window didn't close securely, the shower door handle kept falling off, the tiles round the doorway hadn't been properly finished off, and on the first day, the towels and bathmat (clean) were frayed and holey. I can live with these things, as the room was clean and comfortable, but it feels like a bit of TLC is needed. Staff are friendly and helpful, including help with lugging the suitcase up a lot of stairs! Would I stay here again? Yes, but I hope they sort out the little niggly things.
Nice and central, easy to to walk to everywhere. Rooms were comfy and would stay again
Great hotel at an affordable price!
We stayed at a Kimon Athens a hotel for 2 nights during a heatwave this July. We were pleasantly greeted by AC in the lobby and a very friendly staff member. The staff continued to be friendly and helpful! They give you a “Handy” smartphone that you can use to look up places and make phone calls. It came in Handy for finding restaurants and getting GPS directions. I wish this hotel offered breakfast but that is the only true downfall. Also be warned that the steps in this hotel are winding and a bit stairs if you have any trouble getting around this may be a concern. Otherwise I highly recommend Kimon Athens Hotel! Great location near Monastiraki!
Such a lovely stay in a less crowded, very picturesque part of Plaka. They let me check in early and the wonderful staff gave me an amazing list of things to see and do. Room was basic but exactly what I was looking for, great for the price, and the rest of the hotel and roof balcony are excellent.
Excellent Hotel!
Really friendly staff, a cool free smartphone provided to use during your visit and the location can't be beat! The small single room that I had was perfect for my trip. I'd definitely stay here again! The only small downside was that no food is served and nothing was open as early as I left for the airport, but I was able to eat at the airport easily.
Great staff, very helpful, gave us a cell phone to use for the local area, great location!
Staff was very helpful. Very pretty balcony. Location excellent
The hotel is ideally located close to the main square and the Plaka area. The rooms and especially the bathroom may need a little updating but it is definitely value for money.
A true one-star hotel, not more.
I was misled by the good reviews. Our room was two floors up, no elevator. No breakfast, so the clerk had to find a place we could have a full breakfast before our 8 AM tour. Luckily the nice Central Hotel , just up the street , had a full buffet for 14 euros each. Any money we saved by staying at the Kimon was lost by the cost of the extra breakfast. This is on a one -way side street, plenty of grafetti. Close to some shopping tourist streets, no problem finding a good dinner, ATM, postcards, etc. The room was dirty enough my wife did not want to wash her hair, she decided to wait until the next hotel. We regret our decision to stay here.
Charming hotel
Cute new looking hotel. Staff were very friendly. They give you a mobile phone to use while you stay there which is very useful. No elevator, so you have to lug your suitcase up a winding stair case. Water pipes for the building were in the wall of my room, so I was woken up every time someone in the building flushed their toilet.
Awesome !!!
The staff at the reception are awesome. They were helpful in the luggages and giving suggestions of what to do. Room is great but the toliet sink is a tad too small. There were no place to hang clothes or put toiletries. Awesome location as well.
Hotel was centrally located. Though hotel a bit old but it is still clean and well kept.
Good for the money
+Great location and atmosphere +Friendly staff +Cheap -not so quet.. -no breakfast available
Good location for a short budget stay in Athens. Recommend!
One nighter in Athens
Small no frills hotel in the absolute heart of Athens. Incredible value for the money. 8 minute walk to Syntagma square. 10 minute walk to the centre of Athens nightlife. Clean room, very comfortable mattress, good shower water pressure, very good Wifi, quiet at night. Very nice terrace on the roof - could not take advantage in december. No frills - nothing except the reception desk and also no ELEVATOR. If you can handle several flights of stairs with your luggage (top floor is the 4th) this hotel is fantastic value if you just want to sleep.
Great bed and bedding. Friendly front desk staff Too many stairs for me
The location of the hotel is perfectly located in the middle of all the ancient sites in Athens. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Nice view from the roof top terrace!
Good location hotel
Good location, good staff, clean room, but no elevator..( it can be acceptable)
Comfortable hotel, walking distance to major sites
The hotel was very well situated for all major sites which were within walking distance. There was a vast selection of restaurants in the area. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful and although our room was quite small, the bed was really comfortable. Also the hotel was off a main road which meant it was quieter at night.
Excellent location, friendly staff. Big and very comfortable room, adequate Wi-Fi, good air conditioning. There was a tea kettle in the room which made all the difference. I stayed only one night, but would be happy to stay longer.
Super location and great hotel with excellent service and staff!
Great communication. Good value! Easy place to find. Friendly staff!
Fantastic location in Athens
Loved it; in a very convenient location with friendly staff
Perfect location and very helpful and friendly staff
Good location, within plaka area. Walking distance to all attractions around acropolis.
Excellent Value
We liked the hotel which is small but charming. But no elevator makes sleeping lugge up a couple of flights a drag
Good value and location
We stayed at the Kimon for one night as we ended our trip to Greece in Athens. The location was excellent - close to Syntagma Square where we had to catch our x95 bus to the airport (about a 5 minute walk). There were many restaurants nearby and we were very close to many of the sights. The staff were very friendly and we were able to leave our bags at the hotel when we arrived at approximately 11AM (were allowed to check in a couple of hours early when they had a chance to clean our room). The room was clean and perfect for our one-night stay. The bed was comfortable and we had lots of hot water in the shower. The AC and wifi were fine. It was very good value.
good position
Ideally placed for exploring Athens. Clean and tidy with very helpful staff but let down by small details that could be rectified for very little money, such as a mirror over the dressing table and lack of choices for hot drinks in the room. Only green tea available.
Good hotel near Syntagma Square
This hotel worked well as far as being near Syntagma Square (where the airport bus runs from/to). It's tucked away on a back street, but you're really close to the major sights. It's actually a stone's throw from the main cathedral of Athens, so the church bells can be clearly heard. The front desk was helpful and the room met my needs as a solo traveler - it was small but clean with a comfortable bed. They also provided a cell phone with free data usage, but I did not take advantage of it. I can't speak to the air conditioning as I left my window open, but it was noisy until about 11pm due to a busy outdoor cafe with live music across the street. WiFi worked well in my room. For the price and location, I would consider staying here again.
Central but basic
Convenient but basic hotel, staff not knowledgeable and no breakfast facilities, clean and central.
LOVE it. This is an UNDERATED hotel and it's not an 1-star hotel. It deserves to be 2+. It locates right at the center of Athens and within walking distance (1/2 mile) from the bus station and the Acropolis. The room is very clean. The staff is very nice and professional. My phone was broken and they offer a free phone (free international call) which was a life saver. Thank you so much.
No guests allowed, heads up.
Mostly it was good, basic, but nice. Shower head was broken but that was the only real issue with the room. The one thing I had a real issue with was the no guest policy. It ended up working out but I was really not impressed with this policy. The staff were great, everything else was fine, this policy just really bothered me.
Great location and staff
Great location behind main cathedral. Acropolis visible from roof top garden. Nice balcony from room. Nice touch that phone with free service was provided
nice hotel heart of athens
Pleasing hotel in the heart of Athens walking distance from Metro station Syntagma square also from shopping street, helpful staff 1 thing that could help me more was early check in service since i arrived early morning and had no early check in service let me wait till 3PM after noon!
Cute, but too small
The hotel location is fab. Very close to everything but abit scary as it is on a small quite street that is not lite up that brightly. There is no lobby area nor a breakfast area. I had the single bedroom, which is too small (no room to move once the suitcase is out) and I am only 5feet tall and sz 10 UK. There is no hair dryer, but the hotel does have a mobile phone device for you to use to get around the city. The room is clean, the mirror is not near a socket. The staffs are friendly and helpful
Nice stay in Athens
Perfect location. Friendly helpful staff. Stairs were a bit ropey. Rooftop terrace a bit of a waste of time. My only peeve is that I paid for a superior room and I didn't realise until the end of my stay when it was too late that I didn't get one
I had the room with the balcony that wrapped around both streets and was right in front of the beautiful Cathedral at the Placa. The Plaka is alive all night so there’s noise all night. I could not lift my luggage up the greater than 25 step marble spiral staircase there is no elevator there. But they watch your luggage for you so I just took up what little I needed. There’s a great restaurant catty corner to the hotel great shopping if you across the courtyard from the church there’s another great shopping area. It’s up
Very feiendly and helpful staff
In the begin8ng I boked a very small room I didn't realized that it was my fault the room was very tiny I asked for and upgrade ande the manqger and the stuff inmnediatley helo me to a bigger a nicer room .tThodor johnny and the girl in the morning were great as well as the manager
excellent in all areas
Clean room with new towels and linen. Great shower head and stable hot water. Well located between Monastiraki and Syntagma. Friendly staff, Nice night view on roof top of the Acropolis.
Would not stay again
Ok so the hotel was clean and the receptionist was pleasant.... We checked in after coming from the airport and were told about the "mobile phone" they give you with Athens maps and places to eat and so on, then we were told we must not take the room key when we went out it has to be handed back, We had to carry our bags and cases up 2 flights of stairs to the room (No Lift). In the room we could not connect to the internet as our devices would not allow us to choose a OPEN connection, I asked at reception but was told to use the one we saw and allow it to connect, this did not work so we found a cafe that had wireless. After having something to eat out we returned and asked about the internet again but just received the same answer... As we were tired from the traveling we decided to get some sleep and the bed was the most uncomfortable "Memory Foam" mattress we have ever tried to sleep on. I guess its because of the hundreds of people who have slept there the memory must be full also being foam it was hot to lay on... So the only good thing about this hotel in the location right in the center
Absolute Gem. Highly recommend
Absolute little gem of a hotel. Right in the center of Plaka with restaurants and little shops right on our door step. Will definitely recommend and will return.
