Excellent
The room was very comfortable, with newly renovated bathroom and a nice French window. The owner/manager Eli is wonderful, very helpful and made me feel right at home. He invited me to freely use the kitchen and laundry facilities and provided tips as I walked around the old city. The only difficulty I had was locating the property when I first arrived nice the building has no posted property name along the main Street Jaffa. But its located close to the Jaffa and Damascus gates and the garden tomb. I would stay here again.
It was a great experience, Staff very helpful especially. during war times. I'm considering this great hotel for my next trip.
The location was excellent
Great location just off Jaffa St but also a short walk to Damascus Gate. Very helpful staff.
Very good location and good facilities.
It's a small hotel/hosterl, very homey. Not luxurious but clean and comfortable, and very reasonable, especially for a major city. Location is SUPER convenient: walking distance to Old City, right on Zion Square, a block to a Light Rail stop. I would definitely stay there again.
Location, location, location
The key benefits of the hotel are: * location (easy to get to or from by tram) * cost (good value) * Eli (very helpful and friendly)
The Owner (Eli and wife) are both nice people. The hotel. Is very close the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, City Hall, Train station, going to TelAviv, very convenient. You just have to be patient because there is no elevator.
Nice people. No elevator
If you are not OCD about minor things and you just want a place to sleep at nights while you experience the holy city, then the location here makes up for all the other issues. Owners are super friendly. And the location was just as good as it gets. We were able to stop by the hotel multiple times during the day while exploring.
Friendly staff
Property location is perfect. The owner is so sweat and willing to help. Great stay and recommend it. Shower can be tricky but it has warm water and you get what you pay for. Loved the stay.
Very good for quick stay
Comfortable place, reasonable price, good for casual Jerusalem tour.
Great location, great place and great owner! Thank you Eli! Brazil to win Mondial :D
Place is right at the centre of Jaffa street , 20 min walks from old city and 1 min away from Tram station …. U will find everything around the hotel Great Music, food …. Restaurants…. Hotel has no small sign and access from the side street …. No disable access ….
Stayed here in October and cannot say enough good things about Eli and his boutique hotel. The hotel is very clean and Eli so friendly and helpful. He was always happy to answer questions (and I had a lot of them!!!). The area is walking distance to everything you need. The rooms are air conditioned and come with a mini fridge, which is so convenient. In addition, there is a kitchen with coffee and tea and a fridge to store larger items. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, you will love your stay here.
The best location. The most flexible check-in and check-out.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Kaplan hotel in Jerusalem. The hotel is run by two brothers who are so helpful and friendly.! Situated right in in the centre of Jerusalem. Thank you.david from England
Great management
It was great except I didn’t like climbing the stairs after a long day out to get to my room.
Fantastic hotel by Jaffa Gate
Absolutly the best hotel around. Close by walking to Jaffa Gate. Very clean and air con worked great. Available kitchen and the owners were awsome. I highly reccommend this hotel. Very quiet and everything is within walking distance
Excellent hotel choice
This hotel was excellent. It was clean, comfortable and very safe. The two owners were extremely friendly and helpful in every way. The owner did our laundry for free and gave us excellent advise on the area and was always available. I would recommend this hotel to everyone coming here. Its a short 8 minute walk to the Jaffa Gate and just off Jaffa Street with tons of food and shopping but very quiet at night. Excellent hotel.
I like it
Property is ok for what you pay, rooms are decent and area is fantastic with many restaurants and shops on your doorstep. Old city of Jerusalem is a 10 minute walk. What really disappointed about our stay at hotel kaplan was the noise from renovation works (July 2022) and this is just our personal experience. Hotel management failed to inform us of major works going on at this property during our stay which to be honest was very disappointing. On our last last night we heard cleaning in the hallways after midnight and hammer drilling usually started before 8:30am, some evenings continuing after 6:30pm. Our stay was ruined by this. There was constant activity up and down the hallways all day, evening and night, phonecalls, loud chatter, banging etc. As hotels in Jerusalem are not cheap I highly recommend that if anyone is considering staying at hotel kaplan, please get an honest answer from management whether you will be disturbed by renovation works or not.
Perfect Location-Great for the Price
Great location! Right off the Main Street that has a lot of food options and the light rail train station is only about 2 minutes away walking. This is a small cozy hotel. Rooms are small but perfect for two people who just want it to take a nap during the day and sleep at night. Shower has hot water. Room had AC. Room has a mini fridge. Hotel was quiet and the owner was very nice. Shared kitchen is offered. Lots of stairs if you’re on the third floor but overall for the price and location it’s a perfect little hotel with great service. I would stay here again.
I had a single room. I would classify the space as just above a hostel, where you have a very small room to yourself in a private bathroom. This is a very no-frills hotel. The space is very tight in the room. If that’s what you’re looking for and you want to spend your time basically on the street, this may be the place for you although I think it’s a little bit pricey given that it’s basically a hostel not a hotel as one in the west would define it.
Friendly and budget Hotel
Stay at the hotel was wonderful. Location of the hotel is superb, everything within your reach and walking distance. Would definitely like to come and stay again at this hotel. Elli as usual is always smiling, kind, helpful and at your service. THANK YOU for making my stay memorable.
Despite being in the city center where many social activities take place, it is still a quiet place that one can admire
This is a hotel we have been going back to for many years because of location snd friendly owner. This time we booked through Expedia and our room was on the 4th floor with no elevator. My husband and I are over 65 years old. We should have been told at time of booking.
Eli was a nice host Perfect location. Just a bit noisy since u in the middle of action
Lovely hotel
Stayed for a week. Location is amazing, right across from an open pedestrian square (Zion Square). Located right on the light rail line, half way between the market (Mahane Yehuda) and the old city, both within 10min walking distance. Place was clean, quiet and secure. Free coffee and tea (and treats :) ) in the shared kitchen. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would go back.
The hotel was very clean, pleasant beyond expectation. The service is very generous. It was an amazing experience. Highly recommend
Great stay
Great location, cute little room and an amazing owner.
Fantastic location, staff incredibly friendly and helpful ... gave us really good local advice when we checked in. Would book again in future.
More than good enough.
Hotelier was rather nice. Good location. Decent price. All in all ticks all the boxes for a short trip.
The property is in a great location right in the middle of city Centre. It’s very close to everything, shops, restaurants and the tram. It’s about 10min walk to the old city. The property owner Eli was extremely nice and very helpful in navigating the city as well as useful information. Thank you to Eli and the crew for a great stay.
Great place in Jerusalem
Cozy room with plenty of closets/drawers to store your clothes. The heat worked great. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. Enjoyed celebrating Hanukkah with the owner and the other guests.
Okay place to stay
We had to carry luggage up 47 steps to our room. That was unexpected. No Elevator. Owner is nice. Shower is okay but consumes the bathroom and have to wipe down walls when done. Place was clean.
Well situated off Jaffa Street and only a few blocks from Jaffa Gate in Old Town Jerusalem. The owner was extremely helpful and had great tips. Rooms clean and newly furnished. Comfortable memory foam bed. The bathroom tiny but impecable. My room had a small balcony with geraniums and a chair.
The hotel was situated in an excellent location. 10 min walk to holy city and with bars and shops immediately outside the hotel. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. There is a tram outside that takes you straight to the bus and train station.
Bad place
The photos are not real with the kind of room we stayed in, the curtains don't protect from sunlight, the bathroom was full of mold and poorly cleaned.
Great location and service. Compact room but had all I needed.
Budget hotel. Small rooms but that's fine if you're just going to use it to sleep. Shower fine. Can hand wash clothes under show and dry by next morning. Towels replaced every second day. Most helpful and attentive manager, Eli. Easy walk into Ben Yehuda St with lots of food shops and supermarkets about. Short 15 min walk to Old City and some to car hire shops on Kind David Street.
Very good for the price. Room was clean and well organize.
Sweat hotel
Very nice hotel Very good location I recommend this hotel
Very nice place
Nice and causy Good location Would be back for sure.
I love the location and the people running the hotel are so nice and are very special people. Would highly recommend this place! Loved our room was just beautiful with the balcony!
This is a must stay! Great location in Downtown Jerusalem. 10 minutes walking distance from Old Jerusalem and 6 minute walking distance from tour meeting points. Great restaurants and markets around the area. Great customer service. Very friendly and helpful. There is a kitchen where you can get breakfast or dinner ready. Room was great with AC, TV and good beds. I will recommend this place to anybody. You won’t regret it!
Very helpful staff..location is very good..room are good size..cleanliness is very good..
It's a good hotel to stay. Location and service is very good. The innkeeper, Kaplan, is friendly and was helpful to us during our stay.
Host with the Most
Our host was the best! No elevator so you gotta climb stairs. Location nr Jaffa st perfectly between Macne Yehuda and Old City. Easy walk both directions. Room is tight but ok for the night.
Kaplan Hotel is situated close to the Old town in the Middle of the City Centre.
Location is excellent and the staff is friendly and helpful
Location, location: warm and welcoming.
Right on Jaffa, a 5 minute walk to Jaffa Gate. I was made to feel right at home. There is a shared kitchen with whatever I needed. The wifi in the room was strong. The room was small with an IDF mattress (i.e. firm.) I had a back room. No view, but I think it was quieter than up front. This is certainly not a luxury hotel, but I was very comfortable. Second floor walk-up.
Great location. Wonderful service.
Excellent location excellent. Wonderful host. Clean and comfortable.
Probably the best
Amazing , would never go anywhere else
Kaplan Hotel Jerusalem Israel
Not worth the price, more like a hostel than a "HOTEL", bed was a double wooden kibbutz type & extremely uncomfortable, room was extremely small, no such balcony to sit outside, community kitchen prevents private moments, shower was extremely small, but the worse part, the walls were so thin so much that the neighboring room's TV was a pain & conversations were loud. The only compensation was the owner, who lives on the same floor, was a pleasant person.
Recommendable for the budget traveler!
Location is great, host is super friendly and helpful. Hotel is more of a hostel style, but with private rooms. For the price it is overall great (private room, private bathroom, 24 hours reception, location, price). Just don't expect something like a real hotel.
Convenient to city centre
A bit run down but excellent and helpful staff. More like a hostel than a hotel.
was nice and friendly, but inside was not what I expected!
Perfectly situated value for money hotel
A wonderful four night stay in Jerusalem taking in as many sites as possible
Feels like home
2 blue eyes welcome you. When you get to know each other better, 2 blue eyes and foot taps wait for you to come back home. Like 'mom did in my childhood when I was late. This is Eli - a generous, good-humoured and intelligent person - the owner of Kaplan. He runs the day-by-day hotel business with such a normality, easiness and confidence that you, the tourist, are overwhelved and day after day you start to claim your right to comfort, to happiness, to life. He, Eli, makes this possible. And don't forget to be humorous, to enjoy life and make fun of it. Eli will love you! Thank you, Eli, thank you, Kaplan! Will always return there. Price and conditions match perfectly.
I thank the cleaner. She has ben very helpful.
My requirements during my booking were not fulfilled. The building and the room was full of dust and noisy which have affected my health. The hotel was under maintenance and I have no clue why they accept bookings before the work is completed. In addition to that the standard of the rooms are very low for the amount of money I paid. In deed Mr Kaplan has changed my room after I complained about the dust, the bed, the bedsheets, the toilets and the shower. The bed had no proper bed sheets and blanket.
Very good hotel in the heart of Jerusalem
The hotel is very practical for those who want to visit this great city and not spending their days in a luxery hotel on the swimming pools. The room was very clean with private toilet, shower, telephone and good small fridge. My room was very small but I always use hotels to sleep only. Friendly manager who is keen to help his clints. This hotel in located in the heart of the city where all the good shops, restaurants, public transportation and banks. It is a walking distance from the Old City too. I really did not feel any problem returnng back to the hotel for some rest before I head again to any place. Wonderful experience.
Affordable Hotel in Great Location
We are very happy with our stay in this hotel. Amazing location. Close to everything. Hotel staff was very helpful. They went above and beyond to make us welcome. Room was clean and could accommodate 4 people, which is rarity in such locations.
Recommended as it is close to everything & in a sa
solid old hotel with returned rooms in a fantastic location
Good
Good for the pricwe.
After checkin owner/manager offered to do my laundry. After dinner, my clothes were washed and folded on my bed when I returned to my room.
Not fancy but great location and comfortable.
The owner is on the premises and is very accomodating. He cares about his guests and their well being. Right in the center of all the activity.
Convenient, affordable and well located
The staff of the hotel is really friendly. It is a well located hotel near Jafaa street with facilities and at an affordable price. Iw oddly highly recommend it.
Great place to stay, centrally located!
The location is amazing, right in the center and walking distance from everything. The hotel staff were so friendly and nice, they walked us all the way to a restaurant that was open on the holiday, and by the end of our one night stay insisted on meeting my boyfriend (who was not staying with my friend and me) to make sure he was a good guy. The room prices are cheap, the hotel itself seems a bit tiny and dumpy, but you would never guess from the rooms themselves, which are very nice and renovated. I'm 23 and I stayed in a double bed with my 23-year-old friend, it was definitely fine for us but it isn't a hotel I'd recommend to middle-class or affluent middle-aged Americans (my or her parents, for example). There's no parking and nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a great location, nice rooms and exceptionally nice and welcoming staff, this is the place to go :)
In the middle of everything
Small room and no elevator. Comfortable. The manager Nathan was exceptional and was there for anything we needed. He went above and beyond even helping us with airport transportation.
