A little isolated but a good hotel

A very good hotel with a very good breakfast, good sized room and shops very close by. The hotel is quite a walk away from the Lions Gate into the Old City but it's an easy and nice walk and there really didn't seem to be much else in the area. Be aware when booking this hotel that if you come into the main bus or train station in Jerusalem and try to get to this hotel, not every taxi driver can take you there. Not too incredibly difficult in the end, but it was a problem that I didn't plan for. Overall recommended.

Room could have been a lot cleaner. It was smelly and had a dusty odour. The bathroom drain was full of hair and the fake flowers were full of dust and we had to rest them outside on the verandah that had no table or chairs so impossible to enjoy unless standing.

Panorama of Ras el Amoud

The hospitality was amazing. Abu Mohammed and Mohammed really looked after us, gave us advice on getting around Jerusalem, accommodated us with a late check in and late check out. Location is good for getting to Al Aqsa mosque and Muslim quarter. The view at breakfast is amazing with views of the dome of the rock and Al Aqsa. Breakfast is fresh and healthy.

Overall, our group of 17 had a nice time in this hotel, Apr 25-May 2. We chose it because of our budget and especially the view of Jerusalem on the 6th floor for breakfast each day. We also needed a place that provided breakfast, and there were many choices as well as a variety of eggs, easy side up, boiled, and scrambled. We also wanted to experience Jerusalem, outside of the Jewish sector. There was a small fruit and vegetable store just in walking distance from the hotel, with fresh oranges, apples, etc. One complaint was the fact that on the 4th floor, we had to run the water for a while until it got hot enough for a shower. Then if someone got up too late, the hot water was gone and they only got a warm shower. We loved the fact that we were able to use the 6th floor for several pizza meals for our family. We thank the staff for their help and kindness to us. The hotel is old and dated, but it was comfortable enough for us to enjoy our time in Jerusalem. A couple of comments about the hot water, which might be remedied by installing an auxillary water heater between the main water heater and the room distant from the main. Also we noted that the emergency exit to the fire escape was locked closed, thus not available for emergency exit.

Great location, amazing views!

The location of the Jerusalem Panoramic hotel is excellent for visiting sites by foot such as the City of David, mount of olives and the western wall all a 20 minute walk away. Although the valley is very steep so you need to be fit to do these walks. The room is spacious with two comfy twin beds, two chest of drawers, a wardrobe, desk, chair and kettle. Although the kettle cannot reach the plug from the desk! There are two large windows which have some views of the old city and a balcony you can go out on. There aren’t enough plug sockets, there is only one in the room and one in the bathroom. The bathroom has a toilet, sink and combined bath, shower. There is a good stock of toiletries which get replenished. With soap, shampoo, toilet paper, coffee, sugar, paper cups & stirrers. It’s all very dusty and dirty though. The hotel provide an excellent breakfast with fruit juice, tea, milk, fruit, salad, meats, pitta breads, toast, butter, jam, potatoes, vegetables, fried & scrambled eggs. On some days pastries and cake as well. The view is excellent you can see a panoramic view of Jerusalem which is such an incredible way to start the day. The Jerusalem Panoramic hotel is fab if you want a no frills experience. The location is great for sightseeing but the hotel is in serious need of refurbishment, if you want a luxury experience this hotel isn’t for you. The breakfast was excellent and you cannot beat the panoramic view of the old city.

The hotel is in terrible condition. The staff is awful. They lied to us . We booked a triple room but when we arrived they gave us a double room. Upon asking they said they do not have anything else when we asked for a refund they offered a four-bed room when we reached there we found the room had water leakage, the whole carpet was wet and musty . We were getting late so we accepted a two-bed room with a condition that they will change the room next day. A 3rd bed was put in which made the room very cramped leaving barely any space to move around . The bathroom had hair on the floor and in the shower. The telephone shower head attachment kept falling off. The first time when I opened water for shower it came out muddy with grains of sand . Water took forever to adjust the temperature and become clean . Next day when we came back we were told there were many new check-ins so they wont change the room There was a new person at the desk who said they know nothing about any room change despite of the person in the morning even telling us what room #. There was a new person at the front desk every night who was ruder than the night before . They did nothing about the room every time saying talk to the management but giving us nothing to reach them. Final day we were told deal with Expedia... we can’t do anything. All in all horrible front desk staff and terrible condition of hotel. Took more money for a triple room but scammed us with a room for two. BIG CHEATS....RUN RUN RUN

The Panorama Hotel has an excellent location close to the Old City. It was walking distance for us, though we are use to walking. The staff seems to really care about the guests. We missed breakfast one day and they brought food to our room. Also, we were assisted by the frint desk in finding a cab ride on the Rosh Hashana holiday when most places were closed. They have limited free parking as well. We will likely be back.

Stinky, Disgusting, Dangerous cockroach tower

DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Waited a long time for guy on the front desk for check in. The guys on the front desk are the spoiled sons of the owner. They don't care! They make you pay for the room in advance as it is so disgusting you would demand your money back soon after checking in. Only good point of this hotel is the view of the Old City. Also the little convenience store across the street has good internet. Hotel internet, didn't work, TV didn't work. They said they would fix both but didn't. The elevators were dangerous. Breakfast was terrible and unsanitary. Risked it once. I got sick. Dirty Old man who showed me the room inappropriately touched one of the young girls in the elevator. In the room there was garbage on the floor and under the bed from the previous several guests. Obviously not vacuumed. I could not understand why there were new bed sheets on top of the bed. I realized that they did not change the sheets as there was hair on the sheet from the previous guest. So I changed the sheets. Most Taxis won't go to that area as it is sorta dangerous. Brawl outside the hotel one night involving dozens of really angry screaming men. SCARY! Cops often waiting nearby. Gunshots. All of this I can tolerate but: THE SMELL of my room was disgusting. I couldn't stand the rotten dirty smell. I couldn't stay the full three nights even though I paid. Disgusting dirty smell and cockroaches too. Owners could care less about guests. DON'T STAY HERE!!

This hotel has an incredible view of the Dome of the Rock! It is located right across from the Old City of Jerusalem. The hotel is very old, but clean and the staff are helpful. It is definitely a "no frills" hotel, but the price is right, and you aren't going to spend much time at the hotel anyway....this is JERUSALEM!!! They serve a hot and cold breakfast that is satisfying, but repetitive. This hotel is known for its view and it is well worth it to wake up and see the Old City, City of David, and the Dome of the Rock every morning.

The hotel condition is not good. It does not look clean. The facilities are old. Sometimes they did not let us park inside the parking lots even if there were still space available. The area around the hotel is also not interesting, lack of close restaurants or fair shopping malls. I booked 2 nights first and then add another night prior to the 2 nights due to a change of plan. However, they did not give me a 3-night room but asked me to check out first in the morning and check in in the afternoon. The only highlight is its view over the temple mount in early morning, in sunset, and at nights.

OK but for or that $ I rather stay in a hostel

They had a taxi driver there but when you wanted to know other options, they said it wasn't any and didn't reall want to help at all if our budget didn't include taxi. They said it wasn't any busses going but we found busses by ourselves. The room was ok but they had forgot to clean under the curtains for a while. Our room had a beautiful view over a cemetery and on the other side old city Jerusalem and you could see the golden mosque. But the view made it really windy so you could really hear the wind blowing from outside, I enjoyed it though. In the night they were really nice and gave us coffe/tea. And the breakfast was great too.

Great View, Friendly Staff, Otherwise So-So

Pros: - Fantastic view of Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock, especially from the 6th floor restaurant. - Very friendly and welcoming staff. Cons: - Make sure everything is working in your room (heat/AC, etc.) if weather requires either. - Overall, the hotel is a little on the dilapidated side. - Breakfast buffet is passable, but a little blase, no good fresh local food like za'tar.

Amazingly close to history! Cheap too.

The location is so close to the walled city of Jerusalem, it is just amazing. If you have a room at the front, you wake up and look right across at the Dome of the Rock. And it is super cheap. But don't expect luxury.

It's in an Arab area, with a bit of a rough neighbourhood behind the hotel. (I don't really get intimidated or scared, and I find most Muslims nice, but even I have to admit it was a bit of a rough & unwelcoming neighbourhood - there are plenty of these neighbourhoods in Israel !). There aren't many places to eat nearby, so don't bother looking. And the hotel is old and a bit dusty, a bit unkempt. However, it's relatively cheap (it's not cheap, but Israel is rather expensive for hotels), it's only about 10 minutes walk to the old city (less to the Mount of Olives). There's a small car park, if you have a car. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is okay, and the views from the top floor (breakfast hall) are really very good.

Comfortable hotel close to the Old City.

This reasonably priced hotel suited our needs perfectly. Clean, safe, nice bathroom, hot water, English news TV, air, walking distance to Old City (15 minutes moderate intensity), very nice view of the Dome of the Rock, off street parking, very satisfying buffet breakfast with good selections starting at 7a, quiet (except for 5a call to prayer, of course), and free wifi. The immediate street surroundings of the hotel are not great; cramped and unkempt. We considered the nearby 7 Arches Hotel and in retrospect that was a good decision because that hotel is considerably higher in elevation and an exhausting climb if you are hiking back and forth to the Old City frequently.

Bad experience hotel

I was very disappointed in my stay. service was very bad, we did not get the room we asked for. The service at the front desk was very rude when we told them we did not get what we asked for. They ended up splitting up our family of four into two rooms that were not connecting. I asked them if they would charge us extra if we had to check out a day early and they said no, but then they charged us for 3 days when we only stayed one. Expedia did not back us up when we asked for a refund and the hotel refused to pay us back for the two extra days. It was a bad enough experience it almost ruined my trip to Jeruselam. Luckily I found a better Hotel.

The hotel name doesn't lie. Incredible view.

The 3 night stay was much better then expected. The room was old fashioned but clean and offered incredible (Panoramic!) view of the old city. The hotel staff on reception, dining room and room service were extremely friendly. The breakfast offered was nice and with plenty to choose from. Other facilities are basic, including the WiFi which is only in the lobby. The hotel is in East Jerusalem and so the collective taxi at the airport wont take you there (they will however find you a small taxi when they will deliver you to Damascus gate which itself is about 25min walk). The old city (western wall) are about 15min walk which is worth the hike for the things you find on the way. Mt of Olives is nearby and so is Gethsemane (Olive Garden). No problems getting taxi to anywhere in the city inc CBS. There is small shop opposite hotel with not so great exchange rate and a small local take away which offers very good and cheapest falafel I ever had though when we stayed the hotel also offered a paid diner.

Beautiful view of the Eastern Wall of Jerusalem

We took a walk from the hotel along the Kidron Valley, past the Mount of Olives and then through the Valley and into the Old City. Many interesting sites and memorials of historic places. The hotel's location is interesting, in an Arab section with all the sounds and smells and energy from their culture. Everyone was friendly. The road going to the Hotel is very narrow and crowded with tour buses and taxis. Not easy to park, but the Hotel arranged for us to be chained in, and that was safe for us. An interesting experience, but probably not one that we would want to repeat.

A very hospitable Palestinian hotel in Jerusalem

Initial fears due to the significantly lower price proved to be unfounded. This small hotel has excellent staff who represent well the hospitality of the Palestinian culture. The view of Jerusalem is really panoramic. There is always a natural breeze that makes air condition unnecessary. Room comfort is commensurate with its two star rating: the rooms and the bathrooms are small and the first one we were assigned to had some damage on the doors and a carpet that was not attractive. There are more spacy rooms on the non panoramic side of the hotel however they lack air condition and the natural breeze. All in all I would register again in this hotel if I were to return to Jerusalem.

Nice place to stay with many bonuses

This is an older hotel, built perhaps in the 1920s but with subsequent upgrades -- most importantly including AC. Situated on the east side of the Kidron Valley, the hotel boats a fantastic view of the Temple Mount and the Old City. My room was clean, safe, and very reasonably priced. They safely stored my car overnight and the sumptuous breakfast buffet on the top floor allowed us to see the morning sun rise on the Temple Mount and Old City. We were within walking distance of entering the Old City and thus did not have to hassle with moving our car. I would stay here again. If you can tolerate older carpet and color schemes, this could be a very nice stay for you.

Great view, bad hood, so-so service, fair rooms

Breakfast buffet was great, but not kosher (many vegetarian items). Day clerk was very nice and helpful. Night clerk refused to give or sell us bottled water, even though he could have (I was told so in morning by their manager). We came back around midnight, and to my surprise there was not a single convenience store around the place. No vending machines in the hotel. There was a locked cooler on the 6th floor. The night clerk had the keys all the time, but only in the morning sold us a couple bottles. The hotel is right across from the Kotel, but it takes about 30 minutes walk to go around the cemetery. When we tried to cut across, arab kids threw a few stones at us. Toilet seat in the restroom is extremely inconvenient makes your knees face bathtub, and if you are over 5'5", it's hard to manage. Parking is fairly safe. Nothing happened to our car or any others in the lot. Summary: budget stay, fairly safe if you use cab, and quality comparable to $40 motel rooms in usa.

Good price and view but dumpy rooms

The nite desk manager was professional, courteous and very helpful. Likewise the breakfast buffet manager worked hard for you to enjoy the fairly basic offering (there were fried and hard boiled eggs and an assortment of cheap cold cuts, cheeses and salads). The view of the old city from the breakfast floor was truely fantastic. The rooms have not be renovated since the '60s with threadbare once green (I think) indoor outdoor carpet splotched with numerous old stains. The beds, probably from the 80s were made of cotton batting reminisant of military cots. The walls were cracked and had been quickly coated in white paint. Shower and toilet old but predictable.

Panorama of the old city seen from canteen is realy fantastic! Check room locks may not work properly. Location: on the Mount of Olives, 15 min by feet from two of old Jerusalim gates. Food: poor Room: clean enough, all necessary staff exists (except freezer which is not necessary if you are walking a lot)))

A Good Hotel

My only criticism is that I could hear noise from the road below my window and calls to prayer from a nearby mosque but when I closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning (which worked well) the noise was much subdued, so I slept reasonably well. The only other problem was that as I stayed in an Arab hotel in an Arab district of Jerusalem, the Jewish owned Nesher Cherut taxis (shared taxis far cheaper than ordinary taxis) refused to collect me at the hotel on the day of my departure to take me to the airport. There is no equivalent cheap Arab taxi service. This meant I had the inconvenience of travelling to the airport by public transport first by tram, then changing to a bus, then changing to another bus. To have travelled by ordinary taxi would have been far more expensive. All this of course is not the fault of the hotel.

memorable experience

the first that you notice is the view-totally awesome overlooking the Kidron Valley. The room was simple, but very nice. I'm not one to spend time in my room other than for sleeping so it more than served my purpose. Having spent time in Jerusalem before, one thing that was noticeable was water pressure, it was great. Hotel staff were great as are all the people in east Jerusalem. Walking distance from the Old City. I recommend it to all who are going for the purpose of experiencing another culture.

Well - for a cheap hotel - you will be happy - the rooms are clean and beds comfortable - but a bit rough round the edges. The location has a great view - a 20NIS taxi ride from the city or 20 minute walk - 10 mins to mount of Olives site! So great location. Staff very friendly and obliging- car park very useful - especially if you have a car!

The only nice thing about this hotel is the view of the old city, but you can get the same view from the seven arches hotel on mt olive. the tv did not work, the phone did not work. they did have a free wifi, though. the view from the breakfast hall is nice, and breakfast was nice as well. There is not much around the hotel, so you would have to take the taxi to get to the decent shops or to the old city, and the cab drivers will try to rip you off because they know you don't have a choice. I will not stay there again, I would choose some other hotel with same view into the Old city. there is a mosque next door, so I was woken up at 3am because it was announcement for the prayer, that was annoying being that I was exhausted. unless you want to be woken up for prayer, you wouldn't mind it at all

This is a basic hotel room. They did not have a printed dinner menu only a verbal one, chicken, fish, lamb. Breakfast was more than adequate buffet. The neighborhood is on the Palestine side of Jerusalem, restaurants were few, I went to the pizza place around the corner and did takeout back to the hotel. The view from the breakfast room is amazing, you see the south and east walls of the Temple Mount and some of the Jewish cemetary. You can walk over to the Lion's Gate to enter the Old City if you do not have walking issues.

Peace Love and Blessing from Above

My wife and I stayed at the Jerusalem Panorama Hotel for two weeks in March of this year. We miss Israel and especially miss waking up to coffee and breakfast each morning on the 3rd floor overlooking the Kidron Valley, This place truly has a beautiful Panoramic view of the old City and more! Everyone who works in this Hotel is friendly and helpful, We loved the man on the third floor who would bring us our coffee and offer to make us an omelet or fried eggs each morning, He has such a good heart! We found the Old City, and all the way to Ben Yehuda to be a pleasant walk from the Hotel (mind you my wife and I are still in our 20's) not to mention Many Biblical places are just a couple blocks from the Hotel, Plus blocks from the Hotel there are many Taxis waiting to give rides anywhere you want to go, my wife and I swam in the Dead sea, hung out in Jericho, went to Bethlehem sometimes you can find a cab rite outside the Hotel. My Wife and I stopped everyday for snacks and soft-drinks at the mini-market right across the street. You can also get Falafel next door to the mini-market and there are fresh produce and honey vendors on the corner. My wife had a bit of a cold during the second week of our stay....and guess what? they have a drugstore rite next door to the Hotel! We will definitely be staying at the Jerusalem Panorama Hotel again!

not a qualified hotel for foreign travelers

rooms are spacy but located in Arabian area, a bit too far for a walk from Darmascus Gate where there's a van service but infrequent. only a small vandor-like grocery available nearby, no other choice at all if you didn't prepare for what you need in downtown. it seems to me they don't change the sheet everyday or even there's no sheet at all. the staff is helpful in english especially in this area. they conceded the hotel really needs a renovation before it attracts more foreign travelers even for budget ones.

Do yourself a favor and cough up the money for a better hotel. The building is old and unmaintained, the halls and room stink of mold and smoke, and to top it off, they did not have hot water! When presented with complaints, the clerk was rude and did not offer any compensation. What a jerk. About the only good things are the free wifi and the proximity to the old city. This hotel is located in Ras Al-Amud, don't get confused with the other Panorama hotel especially if you are driving with aid of Israeli GPS navigator (missleading GPS software). Three rooms in 24 hours

The staff at the hotel were most congenial. There were, however, glaring problems with the maintenance of the hotel. My first night I discovered I didn't have any A/C in my room. When I told the front desk I was told to open my windows. "It's cool outside." I did open my windows. There was a breeze blowing. Unfortunately, until after midnight there were also some men having an animated conversation RIGHT UNDER my fifth floor window. Yes. Sound carries up to the fifth floor. The view of the Temple mount was outstanding. It's location was convenient for my ramblings around in the City of David. But, until I moved into my third room, I didn't have A/C. And then, my windows didn't lock. On the fifth floor that might not have been a problem. This room, however was just above ground level (on the third floor in the back). Again, the staff was FRIENDLY. The hotel management just needed to put some more resources in caring for the hotel's infrastructure.

Economy Hotel for Traveler on a Budget

If you are on a budget and just need a safe place to lay your head at night, you can go with this hotel. Whether or not to choose this hotel would depend of what you want to do in the city. If you are interested in seeing Christian holy sites, there are quite a few right down the street. There is a bus stop near the hotel, Arab buses number 36 and 63 will take you into Jerusalem. The ride costs 5 shekels which is better than paying 30 to 45 for cabs. The hotel will give you an Arab city map and an Arab bus map. They'll tell you the bus schedule if you need it. The staff are quite friendly and helpful. If you have the time, you can also just walk. Make sure your clothes cover you well and you have a bottle of water with you. The sun in the open space is ruthless. If you are interested in nightlife and entertainment, you may want to go with a West Jerusalem lodging instead, it will make things a lot easier for you. If you stay out in the city late, you will need to take a cab back to the hotel. Be prepared that some Israeli cabs won't go there so you'll need to find an Arab cabby. There are buses that go to the Western Wall even late at night, in principle you can walk from there to the hotel, but you'll be scared and it's just not a good idea. I think that the hotel needs to change their front door sign, because it's so dirty that it makes the place really feel like a dump. Once you're inside, you realize that it's an okay place to sleep.

Horrible Hotel

I will never go back to this hotel. The hotel rooms were filthy, toilets dirty, had to change our own bedding even after several complaints, rubbish breakfast had to buy my own teabags and spreads as my kids refused to eat what they offered, noisy neighborhood, broken ceilings, no air conditioning and the list goes on and on. I cannot believe that expidia even had this place on their hotel list, the local taxi drivers were telling us that we are staying at the worse place possible, it is not worthy to be called as a hotel. This was the first time that we booked holiday package with expidia, but after seen the standard this would be the last time as well. Yes it was cheap but I dont think that general cleanliness is to much to ask for. NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.

Close to the must-see sights in the Old City. On the Mount of Olives, overlooking the Dome of the Rock. Friendly, helpful staff, older facility, but well maintained. The hotel is not fancy, but provides everything required for a pleasant stay. Off the Jericho Rd., (East of the Old City walls) bus transport from New City is nonexistent, but taxis are everywhere. It's functional, and it's location can't be beat. Don't expect anything near luxury, but it works!

OK, it wasn't anything like a 3 or 4 star here in Canada. However, it's location was exceptional - we walked everywhere, up the hills and down into the valleys around the Mount of Olives and the entire old city. If you are fit enough (and trust me I have little stamina) it's fantastic. The view from the hotel's roof top dining room - I've seen nothing to compete with it. Yes - it is old, it is tired, and in some ways a little surprising (the venting between bathrooms makes you very thoughtful). But the porter is very helpful and kind. We rented a car for a few day (travelling to the West Bank and Dead Sea) - while the street in front can be a little tough to negotiate during the evening, the hotel staff (and yes a few locals as well) will simply stop traffic and guide you through the crush. The shops around the hotel are great - no overcharging for water that we got in some places, and an evening meal of local pizza was a surpise...the young man behind the counter ran over to the vegetable stand to get an ingredient (onion) for the pizza we ordered! It is basic accomodate - bring your own hairdryer and travel iron, don't have unrealistic expectations and you will be both surprised, and surprising satisfied with the experience at this hotel.

Great views but badly maintained and inconveniant location

Hotel staff were helpful but the hotel is very badly maintained, although there apeared to also be some works going on and there were very few guests. The views from our room and from the dining room were unbeatable, truly an awesome panorama of the old city and mount of olives. The room was satisfactory, it was clean enough and did the job, but wasn't brilliant. The other annoying aspect was that although the hotel is not far from the old city and other areas, because of the way the Kidron valley sits in front of it, you have to walk a fair way around the valley to reach the Dung Gate or to continue to other areas of the city, so it is not easy for those without a car, and required taxis in the evenings. Overall: OK, great view, average to poor room quality, location not great for those on foot.

Not a 4 Star Hotel- no wifi, no hot water at night!

I saw a paper taped up over the desk. I think they had the 4star rating in 1987. If so- it's gone downhill. The location is okay for getting to the Lions Gate and seeing the Mount Olive sites, but I think a West Jerusalem hotel is better if you want to be out in the evening. The breakfast was mediocre compared to breakfasts I had in Tel Aviv hotels. It is noisy at night, not just the chanting (which I found pleasant) but the street noise late at night and early in the morning. And it was the only hotel on my middle east travels with NO WIFI. I had come to be dependent on wifi for checking out tour sites on the web and so was disappointed there. My biggest problem with the hotel came the last night. I decided since I had a 6am flight to stay at this hotel another night (instead of returning to Tel Aviv) intending to get up at midnight and shower so that I would not be stinky for the long plane trip. At midnight when I got into the shower there was no hot water. When I was checking out and mentioned this to the guy at the desk he laughed and pointed to the clock and said well of course, it is night time. I had never heard of a hotel turning off the hot water at night, now I know.

Adequate Budget Hotel

Jerusalem Panorama was a decent budget hotel in an Arab neighborhood east of the Old City of Jerusalem in Ras al Amoud near Mt of Olives and the Old City. The lobby and dining area were nice. The lobby had free wifi and the dining area had a decent free breakfast and a spectacular view of the city. The hotel staff were friendly and eager to help and answer all of my questions. The neighborhood was okay but a little spooky late at night. About a 25 minute walk to the Damascus Gate. An Arab bus could take you to the Old City but I never tried it. If you want to go to West Jerusalem you'll need a taxi or your own car, which can be parked for free in their lot. The room was comfortable and cleaned regularly, but could use a deep cleaning in the bathroom. The room had a lot of minor maintenance issues, but everything functioned. When I booked the price was lower than any other hotel I saw in the country.

not what it says to be

It's a long walk from central Jerusalem without transport. It's an old hotel that has been neglected over many years. Instead of replacing the whole carpet, they just patch it up. Bath/shower recess and basin has not been washed for sometime. Also patched up. Taps had soap grime, Hair was in the bath/shower and floor. Toilet was not any better. First night we had dinner at the hotel which consisted of watery pea soup with a couple of peas floating on top, a selection of pasta with tomato sauce or beef stew and a variety of salads which were also offered for breakfast the following morning. Tea and coffee was extra. Breakfast was to be full cooked buffet. What we got was equivalent to continental breakfast with leftover salads that looked old. There was no butter and honey. One morning we had no eggs, bread or yogurt, only cakes and 2 types of cereals. Not the sort of breakfast to start the day with when you are a diabetic and travelling.

If you have low budget stay there.

Extremely modest hotel. Arab family runs the place. Very friendly staff. Clean sheets and towels. If you only care about clean and cheapest place to stay this is Jerusalem Panorama Hotel. It is located right at the Olive Mount in 5-minute walk from the Russian Church of St. Mary and the St.Mary Dormition Church. The panorama from the window is fantastic. You can observe the Old City like at the postcard. It will take you about 20-25 minutes to walk to the Lion Gates. The breakfast is not huge at all but there is enough food to eat. No coffee-tea in the rooms (so bring your own stuff). There are several kiosks around in the area selling fresh fruits and vegetables. The place is safe enough to stay. We received wi-fi internet from the medical clinic which is located in the nearest building. Free parking lot for the guests.
