Fantastic Hotel Awesome Staff Great Location

I can not praise this hotel enough! The staff were amazing. so helpful and mostly spoke great English. For the price, the room was fantastic value. I had to extend my stay and was bumped up to an executive room, only one available at the time. they gave me a great discount on it. The inclusive breakfast was very good with a wide veriety of choices including eggs,meat, potatoes plantains, fruit selection, cerials and plenty of fresh bread, coffee, juice. Again all the service staff were very friendly. The breakfast area also served as a restaurant open to the public for lunch and dinner. There was alot of chinese type food as well as traditional type meals. I tried many of them while I was there and was pleased each time, both with the quality, price and amount of food. The interior of the hotel was very clean and very modern in a tasteful way. Location wise, it was about a 20 - 30 minute taxi ride from the main San Jose airport. Very good Uber services to all of the malls and parks etc.. I don't think I paid over $10 for any of those rides. If I ever get to go back to San Jose, this is where I will be staying! Thanks agaion to all the kind and helpful staff!

Isla Verde hotel was a reasonable price and good value for the cost. Inside the hotel was updated, and the lobby and restaurant was inviting. The front desk staff were helpful, provided recommendations, and even noticed when my child left their stuffed animal in the restaurant. We appreciated their thoughtfulness throughout our stay!

Great stopover!

Great place for a one night stopover after landing at San Jose airport. Friendly check in, space for car parking, large bedrooms and delicious breakfast! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

Very nice San Jose hotel

Comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Great breakfasts. We also had dinner in their Chinese restaurant one night — beautiful presentation and delicious. A bit removed from the historic district but not a problem.

The staff was excellent from Dora, Jorge the Owner Lucy and the restaurant team. This is in my opinion the best boutique property in San Jose.

The chekin process was great, the name of the front office agent escapes me but he said he was originally from Venezuela. If i had to pick some things id like to see 1) A refrigerator in the room would be nice 2) Hand towels to wash your face Otherwise all went well

Lovely property and restaurant. View from the gym was spectacular. Easy to from here to book a tour and or go to the center of the city. The restaurant has some good food and a costa rican daily breakfast. Drinks are amazing. Walkable distance to US embassy and Savana park. On the way check out the Bolivian empanadas shop nearby.

Beyond Amazing

It was great! Seamless check in, the parking attendants were super helpful and friendly. All the staff were amazing and kind, gave local recommendations! Breakfast was amazing, seriously so well worth it. We would absolutely stay again and refer it to our friends and family!

The stay was really good. Their restaurant that serves Chinese food was amazing. One of the best we had. Their is a big mall nearby and the airport is fairly close.

This is a gem. Absolutely love this hotel. Staff is exceptional. There is a gentleman receptionist named Jorge who is hands down amazing hospitality. Breakfast is amazing. Restaurant has a delicious menu. Gym facility is top notch with a great view. Will stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was delightful and the staff was outstanding. The breakfasts were excellent. The only suggestion would be to upgrade the TV. And the cable. I would recommend this hotel to snyone looking to visit Costa Rica Glenn

All the ataff are very helpful

Convenient location, friendly staff and nice view of the Arenal Volcano. Love the heated and non heated pools. Breakfast was good. We had some minor issues but management solved it in a timely manner. The massive gift shop attached to the hotel got some great souvenirs. Would recommend this hotel.

El servicio al cliente fue excelente. Dora en el front desk fue super atenta y diligente a la hora de resolver nuestros inconvenientes. Siempre estuvo pendiente a todo detalle. Todo el personal fue muy amable y eficiente. Buena limpieza, interior y exterior. El desayuno caliente, muy bueno. El area no tiene atracciones cerca, pero si se consigue traslado hacia lugares de interes. Muy recomendado

Corrupted management

They gave me a room without a window when ı arrived. I had breathing problems during the night as there was no air in the room and ı could not sleep at all. The owner of the hotel changed my room the next day but she had my credit card copied on my first check in. Sye said every hotel does in the country but was not true. She blocked my credit card when ı wanted to buy one more night on hotels.Com. She wanted me to pay more than on hotels.com. She was not kind enough to compensate on my first night. She was not fair. I will not recommend this to anyone as the owner is a way far from human politeness and human connection. She had poverty consciousness and making more than making her quests stay comfortable. The staff was excellent but they had nothing to do with the policy of the management. I appreciate the receptionist jorhe to help me and alş other staff, they were kind and sincere.

The hotel was very nice and clean, and well maintained. The only drawback was that they lock the hotel doors at night and the front desk isn't always staffed, so guests may become locked inside the hotel. This isn't safe, and would be illegal in many other countries.

Place was immaculate! Beds were good, the Japanese restaurant in the hotel was delicious and people so nice .

Great location

We had a room which is their least ...nice, but it's ok because we brought our 2 kids, we looked like street people when we showed up 😄. Their kitchen had fresh coffee at 5am, for that i should have given 5 stars across the board.

Friendly staff, always willing to give advice and suggestions. Clean and professional environment. Definitely worth the visit. Easy and secure parking.

Place was very nice and modern

Beautiful hotel, I love the decoration since we arrive, in every space it has a decoration with good taste, amazing breakfast (the best Gallo Pinto rice ) and very attentive staff. Definitely will come back again!

Hotel pre picked us to have a double bed even though we were a couple and wouldn't switch our rooms even though there were open queen rooms.

Great hotel with excellent breakfast. Suggest the hotel offer its guests a bottle of water when checking-in.

Small gem near San Jose City

We were super pleased with this stay. The facilities are very interesting and appealing particularly at this location so near San Jose City. The employees are great and front desk went above and beyond in securing us a reservation to a highly rated restaurant. Having a parking area was the cherry on top!

Convenient location and great modern styling. Very helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again.

The service of the staff is excellent. Any issues arise, they will help. The only negative is the location. It is far away from downtown in the suburb. Some tours would not come to the hotel to pick us up. Whenever we went to downtown for a tour, the taxi ride will be a little expensive. But we would not complain as downtown San Jose is not a safe place to stay. As for this hotel, it is very safe to walk around during day time but not recommended by the staff to walk after dark..

Calm, Stylish, Tranquil

Peaceful tranquility - the inner courtyard with its naturally lit, breezy garden set a beautiful tone for a calm end to my stay in Costa Rica. We explored the neighborhood to the north by foot, and it was pretty and felt safe. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, watching guests cars overnight and making sure we were settled in. The breakfast was delicious in the stylish and comfortable restaurant. The drive from there to SJO was a breeze. I strongly recommend Hotel Isla Verde!

Embassy visit

Wife had visa problems so we had to make an unexpected trip to San Jose to visit US Embassy. If you have Embassy business location is perfect. Hotel is very nice. The staff is super helpful. The restaurant is decent. The breakfast buffet is very nice. The only negative is that we only needed two nights of our 3 night reservation but the hotel could not reduce the charge - might have something to do with booking through Expedia.

Good price, clean and Convenient location

Yes the breakfast is excellent quality and value. Room is very nice, clean and modern. My only issue was the shower water temperature — when you put it on the warm setting it fluctuates on its own between scalding hot and freezing cold

Almost (but not quite) perfect

Their system which controls room lighting with the access card also controls wall outlets making it difficult to charge cell phone without also having the lights on.

Short stay for 2nd time

I stayed 1 night at the end of an extended trip so that I could be near (ish) to the airport. I recently stayed 3 nights at this same hotel. I 100% recommend it to anyone. Fyi, it is approx 10min in a taxi to the downtown area.

Fabulous Hotel Restaurant

This cute hotel was exactly what we needed for our quick visit into San Jose to get an emergency passport. It’s only a short walk to the US Embassy which was exactly what we were looking for. All the staff were friendly and so helpful. The best part was the Japanese restaurant on site. The food was so amazing! Definitely make time to eat here.

Better than I expected

Great breakfast and chinese food for lunch and dinner delicious. They have a friendly staff. Place to go when i go Costa Rica . Definitely will recommend to my friends and family.!

Nice property, however, don't provide service of towels. Lot of the activities that we did in Costa Rica was necessary that we had to take towels. The hotel should indicate that they don't provide towels in the detail of the information of the hotel.

Very nice people own and run this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for my birthday and it was wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to help me find places to go in a safe way and coordinate my very early morning ride to the airport. Buffet breakfast was good and so convenient and dinner and drinks was delicious. Hotel was also located in walking distance to lots of shops. Room was very comfy and clean and balcony was wonderful to get fresh air and breeze. Would definitely recommend staying here :-)

It's one of my favorite hotels that I have visited

Excellent

We had a wonderful 5-day stay at Isla Verde. It is a small (about 40 rooms), family-run hotel--extremely clean, attractively decorated, and equipped with a very nice Cantonese restaurant. The multilingual staff are outstanding. We received help from Jorge and Dora in rescheduling a tour that we had to postpone when our son was not feeling great for a couple days. Jorge actually walked us to a pharmacy to get medicine for him. We used Isla Verde as our base for exploring Santa Fe as well as a coffee plantation, volcano, and other sights. We had two Deluxe rooms, each with a lovely balcony overlooking a peaceful residential area. We enjoyed sitting out there in the morning sun every day and drinking our coffee. There is an excellent complimentary buffet breakfast that has the traditional Costa Rican components--gallo pinto, eggs, plantains, and fresh fruit--plus a few pastries and other items. We ended up eating at the restaurant many times because it is so good (it also has a small bar). I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It isn't right in the middle of the city, which was fine for us, because it was peaceful. We used Uber to visit places in the city. The hotel is very close to the U.S. Embassy. Wifi was fine. Very comfortable beds--I am picky! If we return to San Jose, we will definitely stay here.

A Comfortable Boutique Hotel

This place is family owned and operated. The attached restaurant serves nutritious breakfasts, and is also open for lunch and dinner. The boutique hotel was recently renovated, which is very nice. The entire friendly stuff went above and beyond to make my stay the best it could be. Special thanks to Dora from the reception desk! This is pretty updated hotel. We only spend a night before leaving San Jose. Since we have a very early boarding and even prepared simple breakfast for us. Room is spacious and comfortable. Very nice

This hotel was amazing, definitely a hidden gem. It was signiciantly cheaper than staying right next to SJO, but also much more luxurious than other hotels. The restaurant was fantastic, check-in and check-out was a breeze. The staff was very friendly and the rooms (in addition to being extremely comfortable) were very clean and well maintained. This was my first stay here however I will most definitely be staying here for all of my US border runs from now on.

The property was clean and well kept. Service was great at restaurant. TV in room did not work consistently. Otherwise, our stay was good and we would use this hotel again.

I love the architecture & the setting, peaceful, warm & relaxing The staff was amazing, very helpful. George is exceptional even though he was off the day before our departure he called the front desk to make sure that everything was in order for us in regards to COVID testing before flying back to New York. George also help us in setting the different tours we wanted to do. Before leaving NY I called the hotel because my flight was arriving late. They made the arrangements for car service to pick us up. We did use the same driver, Alexis, throughout our stay. We were all very satisfied. I do travel a lot & can honestly tell you that I would go back to Isla Verde & recommend it, Pura Vida 😉

Lastimosamente Expedia o el Hotel nos quedó mal con el tipo de habitación, nosotros reservamos 3 Hab. Superior y nos dieron 3 Hab. Standard.

I just didn’t like how the whole check in was and the way the guy at the reception welcomed us because he was mean in the way he said that we had to wait until 2 for check in. I’ve stayed in 5 different hotels in Costa Rica this time and none of them have treated Us the way he treated us and most of them have been nice enough to give us uproots for early check in.

Above and beyond

Was very happy to find this well-curated hotel in San Jose, so close to downtown and the US Embassy. The room was perfect for three. We had a car issue on a Sunday morning and the front desk helped us with a roaming mechanic service; we were repaired and on the road in less than two hours. They make a lot of effort to help their guests. I live in CR most of the time, and I am always looking for hotel options in San Jose. I will definitely recommend this and use Isla Verde again.

We arrived at Hotel isla verde at 12:30 am and security led us to the front office to check in. Hotel is clean, has really cool decor and a nice atrium! We got a good nights sleep and enjoyed the breakfast of eggs, salsa, rice/black beans and small meatballs (ends at 10 am). Check out is at noon which is nice after a long flight. This hotel is in Pavas which is about 15 min south of SJO so be aware of that. The Cab fare from SJO will range from ~$5-15

Clean and a good service

New and beautiful

Place is very nice! Pavas is not very safe though. But if you are calling in for the day right before sunset, this is perfect.
