We had a great stay at the Intercontinental in Wellington, NZ. It is close to the waterfront and shopping. I would recommend this hotel.

Room was dirty, especially the carpets. A refresh is definitely needed.

The staff in this hotel is great, friendly and helpful. We had a flat tire and they graciously called Avis/24 road assistance for us. Breakfast was quite tasty.

Excellent Hotel

After many hotels on the South Island that were motels it was really nice to stay in a real hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Upgraded room with lovely shower. The spare was nice as well.

Concierge’s Ted and Jasmine were amazing. Unfortunately can’t say the same about the Check in staff who forgot to message when the room was ready. Arrived at 2.50 and still no message at 4 😡

The Wellington Intercontinental Hotel was impeccable beginning with the concierges meeting us upon our arrival to the maids who took care of us. The hotel was well located in the downtown area which was readily accessible to area points of interest in a very walkable area of downtown. We will definitely stay here when we return th Wellington.

All one needs for a great trip

Everyone was very nice and helpful and most definitely accommodating

Extremely nice hotel with a very helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable. Welcomed us on our honeymoon with a very generous gift. Very close to all the attractions in Wellington and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in the city.

I loved how comfy the mean king bed was!! So good I need to invest in one lol. And the room was so nice and flash!! Also love the indoor pool spa and buffan breakfast was on!! 🔥😍🥺 Definitely recommend going here again but for the whole weekend!! Wish I could of stayed longer lol 🙌❤️👌

Wonderful Stay

We went down to Wellington for Christmas and chose a Junior suite with Club Lounge access. Good choice! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole Club experience (first time we have upgraded in this particular hotel). Well worth it. Everything was top notch, the service impeccable.

It’s very old property or not kept up to date. Limited dining options and just not good vibes.

Friendly staff, they hooked us up with great food when the club was full.

Excellent experience

Th room facilities are comfortable and well maintained. But the shower water flow is not that good. The service at the reception and concierge is excellent. But the service of the cleaner and staff at the restaurant needs improvement.

I didn’t like having to wait 45mins to be able to check in when I called to make sure the room was available which it wasn’t. Having a drink spilt over you and no apology or offer to assist with cleaning up.

Beautiful luxurious stay.

We had a pleasant night stay. Very convenient for the ferry. Dining options were a short Uber away unless you wanted to eat at touristy harbour restaurants. Lots of shopping nearby and the cable car is two blocks away. We found valet parking expensive so used city lot at Clifton hill.

Hi there, When arrived,I liked it and I extended my stay. Soon after, I realized that it was not a good idea! The receptionists did not communicate well about me staying longer. I was promised a nicer room for my extended time and I was given another one! The swimming pool was not working ! The mattress had too many stains!! Thanks Heleni Lewis

I had a fantastic stay! The room was cleaned every day and basically was very tidy. High standard. Worth to pay $. I attend a conference and the food during morning tea and lunch was delicious.

We always stay in the Intercon when visiting Wellington. Last time we were unhappy because there was no notification of extensive renovations which meant the restaurant was closed and the unwindowed room they offered as an alternative was less than satisfactory. This time we only had the opportunity to visit the club lounge where the service and drinks were fine, but the usual high standard food offering was no where to be seen And was very disappointing worth the premium paid!

Woken Sunday morning to the relentless sound of drilling.

Rooms, foyer, bar, staff are what you would expect from a 5 star. So very happy there. Unfortunately they did not inform at time of booking the pool, sauna and gym was being refurbished. Only emailed after booking. They did have a back up gym and pool about 10min walk away.

The city view from our hotel room was awesome. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is near great shopping and restaurants. Easy walk to the harbour. Great place to stay.

Lovely Hotel nice and comfortable close to all amenities. The bar area needs better music / modern playing as the “elevator “ music is dated and there was no atmosphere.

Excellent breakfast buffet! Front desk mixed up and gave my corner room to the other person in our group and then when he wouldn't change, would not find me a comparable one even though I was willing to pay. They also did not have closed captioning on the tv for my deaf friend and the hotel pool (an important amenity) was closed. Not the best stay to say the least.

The bed was extremely comfortable. Friendly staff and nothing was a problem.

Beautifully appointed room. Great view. Only suggestion for improvement would be to replace the office chair as it was looking very tatty (Room #520).

The staff were really friendly, the place was clean and presentable and it was close to the shopping centres , museums and restaurants.

I had a slightly rough start to my stay at IC Wellington. There was some dirty water pooled on the bathroom floor and, although it was great to have two walls of windows, I didn't enjoy the rooftop view. But the room was large and modern and comfortable and the location is great. The staff is helpful. So, overall, a very solid stay.

It was beautiful, clean, well managed, and in the center of everything. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.

A great experience from start to finish. We arrived 5 hours before check in time and we’re able to go straight to our room. Concierge service was fabulous. Room was beautiful and very clean. No noise at all overnight. A lovely breakfast in the morning again with excellent service. Highly recommend 10/10

very nice stay at the continental. short walk to the waterfront and te papa, we had made plans to go to willis lane so this accomodation was just what we wanted.

A reputed 5-star establishment, was a mixed bag of experiences. While the overall ambiance and service were commendable, certain undisclosed inconveniences impacted our stay significantly. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to learn that the gym and pool areas were undergoing renovation—a critical detail absent during the booking process. The hotel staff attempted to rectify this by offering off-site alternatives, but arranging and adjusting to these last-minute changes proved to be a hassle, affecting our leisure plans. Furthermore, the food options at the hotel's restaurant fell short of expectations for a 5-star establishment. The variety and quality were below par compared to international hotel chains, leaving much to be desired. Despite these setbacks, the hotel's general service, room comfort, and overall ambiance were praiseworthy. The staff exhibited professionalism and hospitality, maintaining the standard one would anticipate from a 5-star venue.

People here are helpful and friendly especially the people in concierge. Food is fantastic. Housekeeping is not bad but needs to be improved. I will definely recommend this to family and friends.

Perfect location since it's walkable to key places. My main issue is on the facilities. During our stay (December 2023), the pool, gym area are under renovation. I booked thru Expedia but it would useful to inform the guests about such things. The facilities specially is my main consideration of booking this hotel. My family was looking forward for that. I'm also disappointed that there is no parking space provided or at least a discounted rate. Parking overnight is very expensive. Overall, it is not worth staying here since there isn't a big difference anymore from other hotela near by.

The hotel was in a perfect location. Easy walk to a variety of restaurants and shopping. Staff was super friendly. The rooms were quite spacious.

We stayed in room 524. The body wash pump in the bathroom was broken so no soap would come out. The position of the soap is rather dangerous, it makes the floor of the bathroom where you step out, soapy and slippery. Overall presentation was good but the design isn't the greatest. When I pointed the broken body wash pump at time of check-out, there were 3 people behind the desk at the time. Not one of them apologised for the inconvenience caused, one just said "thanks, I'll pass it on". I've worked in 5 star resorts myself in the past and this is not the kind of customer service expected in 4-5 star accommodations. Also, it was unclear whether the coffee pods in the room were complimentary or charged as it's placed alongside with the room service foods. It would be a good idea to label them complimentary if they are. And for the price we paid for the room, I was shocked to see 'long life milk" in the room opposed to a jug of fresh milk. I'm pretty certain most people would prefer the normal milk than the long life.

Not worth it.

Disappointed in the hotel. I specifically booked for the swimming pool, but only upon checkin I heard that gym/pool are not accessible die to renovation works. In the morning, I’m not guided to the table at breakfast and no one asks if I want coffee or tea. There are no free bottles of water in the room, you have to ask at concuerge every time… I stay with IHG hotels weekly and this time I was really disappointed. The rooms are ok, but quite dated.

Staff are wonderful- definitely returning

The intercontinental hotel in Wellington was very clean and easily accessible to the wharf and shopping. However, the concierge was somewhat lacking in knowledge of things we could do while in Wellington. Also, there were limited dining options in the actual hotel.

Was a nice hotel but the gym and pool are under construction. On the day we checked out (Monday) the noise was pretty unbearable, during the weekend didn’t hear anything obviously. I wouldn’t have booked the hotel if I had known this was the case. I only found out about the refurbishment on the day of arrival by email but not about the heavy drilling.
