Best club lounge service so far for me. Great location
I was very disappointed about how the receptionist treated me when I booked via Expedia. She kept saying the word “unfortunately”. It was even worse because I was extending my stay and she treated me like if I was a wet dog in a non pet friendly hotel. The breakfast is very meh and the hotel is a little on the run down side. It’s just good location. Phillip the bellboy was the nicest ever and he made my stay. Thanks Phil!
No onsite parking other than valet parking. Everything else was very nice
Not bad but not as smooth as other Intercontinental hotels. The small things feel lacking. Pillows not soft, breakfast buffet somewhat disorganized and missing basic items such as cereal, granola or bowl, housekeeping forget things. So yes that’s a bit petty but you come here hoping these things are just taken care of.
Overall really nice place to stay!
Excellent hotel perfectly positioned for solo traveler with convenient location and warm customer service. Completely enjoyed the accommodation and would visit again when in Melbourne.
Not 5 star
Rooms outdated and upkeep is nonexistent
Friendly, helpful staff, clean and quiet, nice rooms
True gem! Classy, clean, elegant, comfortable and impeccable service!
We’ve stayed here on many occasions. We love the hotel and all it has to offer
Bad night out
Rough stay at usually a great hotel. Had no one at valet and front desk was very little help at checkin. Overnight our refrigerator must have died, as all the food we bought at a festival was ruined in the morning and the front desk again did nothing but take my name and number with the promise of a call from a manager, which still has not occurred. In fact, the front desk was more interested in charging the $80 for parking than the $150 in ruined food. And for $80 valet it shouldn’t take 20 minutes to park and 20 to retrieve your car. Usually this is a great hotel and stay often for work, but it was not good for a night away with my wife.
Great location and historic building. Pool and gym are excellent, and the staff/service is top notch. For the price of a room the WiFi could be quicker and a wider range of TV channels provided - but very minor complaints. Overall fantastic.
Outstanding facility and staff
The room was neat and clean, but quite small - adequate. However, comminucation with the hotel has been very difficult. I was charged twice for the room and have been finding it very difficult to contact the hotel to arrange refund. No response for two days so far!
All good 👍
Amazing place
Not worth it
The place was comfortable enough as you would expect, however anlot cam be said for the house keeping or lack of it. Also, getting a room below the gym, not a great idea, as people are dropping weights. We asked to move to another room, which they were happy with, however the room they moved us to was a much smaller room, although we were told it was the same category. Afer making a fuss, were we moved to a larger room. Just a lot of unnecessary drama.
The staff and facilities were fantastic, they were very helpful with all our requests. The restaurant in the hotel, Ronnie’s, was delectable with beautiful food shared between everyone.
Absolutely loved the buffet breakfast! overall, the entire experience was fantastic; the service, food, amenities, and location. Beautiful building too. Would definitely stay again.
Poor customer service
At checkin, the person was rude; asked for two room keys and was told only one key & there was one in the room to run the lights; went to room, there wasn’t a key in room so went back to ask for one; Had breakfast in hotel- first day, person before me got a tour of options, for me they couldn’t get tea order correct; second morning- I was seated on one table, went to get food and they had sat another family at my table & also got the tea order wrong.
all good :)
The Location was amazing and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating, we were able to check in early on arrival and able to leave our luggage safely on check out. Can not recommend highly enough!!!
Gorgeous hotel great location
Amazing foyer view but rooms could updating
The foyer of the hotel is done amazingly and has great views for breakfast or drinks. The staff are very friendly and the location is central with easy access to most parts of the CBD. Breakfast and drinks are pretty good and the rooms are comfortable as well. The bathrooms are a bit dated and could use an upgrade as the showers suffered from low pressure, took a while to heat up, and toilets were a bit small. Gym is a bit small for the amount of people in the hotel (was fine during winter, but imagine it gets packed during summer). Pool wasn't heated for the first part of my stay and shut down for maintenance for the second half without any advance notice which was a bit annoying. Room could also do with some USB ports in the sockets and a clock/alarm of some sort. Overall, I think the view in the foyer is amazing, but the quality of the actual room and other amenities could use upgrading.
Nice quiet location with excellent breakfast
Not a central location but close to sky bus. Service was excellent, friendly and helpful but not obtrusive (except for Monday when there was no concierge?!) breakfast buffet was varied and very good - great if you have kids to feed.
The staff went above and beyond to accommodate after I had made an error with dates, so was very happy
Friendly staff, can provide great info and really helpful. Thumbs up.
Very comfortable and great breakfast.
We loved our stay, we will be back for sure.
Best comfortable bedding
Upgraded to a Junior Suite - huge room and bed was so comfortable. The Lounge breakfast was very good. Recommend a stay here.
The administration seems slow. The safe was not working in my room, the front desk kept saying would send maintenance for it. But it was never repaired and replaced. At the end, they would say oh, most safes in this hotel were not working, you can put important in their safe. Why din't they say it at the beginning. The facility is also old.
Not 5 stars they wish!
Gorgeous architecture, in need of some refurbishing, average service, and extremely thin walls. Average experience, nothing spectacular. Is it 5 stars? Imo, not quite.
Nice hotel, comfy beds, little tired.
Overall nice stay - good location, the staff are friendly - the rooms are a little tired, could do with a bit of a freshen up, the rooms are not quite the five star you might expect. But the beds are comfy and sleep was pretty good - albeit, don't expect a sleep in, as the breakfast restaurant is right outside the windows.
Old world charm, updated with contemporary rooms and features, and located with convenient access to Melbourne Cbd and Soutbank.
Great central location
Good hotel and very conveniently located. Staff were terrific and room was comfortable. Breakfast was terrific with plenty of options
The stay was overall pleasant. The rooms are clean , staff are friendly. As a 5 stays hotel, I expect the bathroom to be bigger and swimming pool facilities would be better (with separate shower and toilets)
Central location with most attractions in walking distance. The fre tram service around the Central Business District is nearby and runs frequently. For sports fans, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Rod Laver Arena are also nearby. Excellent breakfast but would recommend dining elsewhere for lunch or dinner as the menu is a bit limited and was not to my taste.
Best breakfast, friendly & professional staff
Professional and friendly staff, and the amazing buffet breakfast made our stay extra special.
Nice location and lovely hotel, did have to ask for housekeeping every day which I thought was unusual
Beautiful and historic hotel. Staff were extremely accommodating. Excellent location.
Great service. Great breakfast. Swimming pool and spa needs a reno and upgrade. Also sadly not much natural light in the building. Overall ok experience.
Lovely rooms, clean and comfortable
Marvelous
Great old fashioned ambience. Beautifully appointed. Just a wonderful property. The buffet breakfast was exceptional. Staff helpful and attentive.
Hotel was excellent
The staff were so friendly and accomodating. A great trip!
Beautiful building, thought room would be bigger given cost of room. Excessively loud music at 6.00 am was disappointing given we only had a very short stay
Staff helpful, and convenient location. However the bedding could improve with the use of mattress and pillow protection. Found that strange. But on the whole happy with the stay.
I loved the look of the place. It felt really unique and luxurious. So close to where we wanted to go and they allowed us to leave our bags and car there until we finished our experience in the city
We were checked in 1 hour late
We booked city view, but it just a building next door view, disappointed. The hallway carpet walk though the room, it extremely dirty. Overall, it great facilities and cleanliness
Our stay was truly a home away from home. The staff ensured that sentiment!
Wonderful stay, excellent service, modern and clean, and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
Everything about the Intercontinental is special. From the ambiance to the way you’re treated as a guest is always impeccable. It truly makes a special getaway.
Charged $100 per night bond! Never had that before! Reception didnt explain about pool and carpark, photos look much better that actual room and building! Found hair in the room and that was not pleasant. Location is good and building is a nice heritage building. Carpark is super expensive.
Our first time staying at the intercontinental and it was amazing. Breakfast is better than first class. The room could be made darker than dark and was almost silent. Highly recommend
Pillows way to big for the beds use normal size pillows please. Room wasn’t clean black hairs in the shower. Rubbish behind furniture. The internal doors between rooms can hear other guests to easy. Fridge leaking water in the bottom of it. The power points to turn things on so confusing. Pool and spa pool look great in the photos but is run down and very average. Didn’t rate the property at all and wouldn’t stay there again unfortunately nothing really positive to say sorry.
Loved the location Desk service excellent Limited in room service when we came home late, after a concert Unclear arrival as we were dropped on Flinders Lane
Room was showing significant signs of wear - arm rests on chair split and open. Vanity pack in bathroom had already had some items open and they were still in box. After telling reception items were just thrown into box loose and not sealed in any way - could have easily been off the floor. Had to wait for several breakfast items to be replenished. Staff were all very pleasant and made us feel welcome but hotel was not what we expected.
Lovely service and great location
The location is really good and I loved the rooftop pool. The dining options were good too. My ground floor room was very comfortable and quiet.
It was just great. Breakfast can be improved with more diversity and Asian orientation.
We enjoyed our stay here. Rooms was clean and comfortable, loved the pool & hot tub. The pool needs a handrail, however to get down the stairs. We will stay here again for sure.
The staff at this hotel are excellent, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. They accomodate requests with a smile.
Stay Here!
Amazing. Perfect and Highly Recommend
Overall it is a good hotel. It was clean and comfortable, the neighborhood felt very safe. The staff was the very best part of the stay.
Sheets were thread bare and did not fit the king size bed properly. Bathroom was not restocked each day with the basics of toilet paper.
We had a wonderful 5 night stay. The staff were excellent right from check in through to leaving. Our breakfast was included and comprehensive with tea and coffee delivered to our table. The hotel is in a great location and we walked everywhere only using the free trams for the experience and when it rained, although umbrellas were provided. We would definitely stay there again without hesitation.
It was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were kept clean and tidy. Breakfast was great with plenty of options. Will definitely stay again.
Absolutely loved our stay with The Rialto. The quality of the hotel, cleanliness and staff attentiveness were second to none. We were provided lounge access as part of our stay due to a mishap with the elevators, which was lovely. The pre-dinner drinks/afternoon/happy hour in the lounge was lovely. We had breakfast in the lounge once, but would have to say the buffet breakfast was much much better with a wide selection of breakfast foods, including juice bar to make your own juices. That was just our preference though. We found the location a ways out from the CBD but we didn’t mind the walking. Overall, LOVED our stay and definitely would stay again and recommend to family & friends.
Eccellent hospitality and excellent room.
Another great stay!
My 6th long stay this year and pleased to report it's as good as always. The service is just consistently excellent and the facilities superb. Special shout out to Hanna, one of the amazing breakfast team, who always remembers me and the most incredible detail about what I was doing during the previous visit! Looking forward to my next stay alredy!
The hotel is conveniently located within a walking distance to tram stops, Flinders station and Southern Cross station. Another important factor is the hotel is just 3 minutes away from Immigration Museum where most tours like Great Ocean Road, Philip Island etc will pickup and drop off here.
I am always wary about praising a hotel for fear the next time I go the place will be booked. However, the InterContinental deserves much praise and so I render it here. We showed up in the late morning and figured we'd have to drop our bags and check in later. But while we were being checked in the room became available. What providence after a 14 hr. flight. The staff could not be more accommodating and friendly, their concierge, always on duty to answer any Melbourne questions and to reserve transportation. The room was wonderful. Nice and quiet. Comfortable but not too soft bed. Great waterfall shower. We could really relax in the room. The hotel itself is beautiful and modern but not cold even though the Rialto itself is a very old building. There were many spots throughout the hotel you could just sit and have a glass of water after a long fruitful day in Melbourne. The location of the hotel is not to be understated. Fantastic location in the CBD for walking around Melbourne as well as for bus pick-ups for our pre-paid day trips outside the city. Safe. 100 percent entirely safe. And yet so close to the action. Within walking distance to Flinders St Station, Federation Square, popular laneways and a ridiculous amount of restos an bars. That said, the hotel resto Alluvial delivers a pretty delicious buffet breakfast. This is our place the next time we are in Melbourne. 5 Stars!
no
Ok
The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, and worth including in the room fee.
Quality
The excellent venue and staff was absolutely no surprise to me as an IHG member. The Inter Continental Rialto exceeded all expectations, rooms clean comfortable and spacious and the staff couldn’t do enough. Pamper yourself with a stay here.
Excellent hotel
The breakfast is outstanding better than I expected 👍👍
Nice but a bit run down for a 5 star hotel.
It suited our purpose.
The place is lovely. Very relaxed, central. Staff so friendly. Has an amazing girls night. Gorgeous bar and breakfast really good. So many options to choose from at breakfast and a chef who makes omelettes. Loved the bed. Mattress so comfortable
great
Restaurant was terrible and expensive
Loved the decor, the use of the intercontinental club and the locality to all that Melbourne has to offer.
The hot water was very slow to come through to the shower. About 6 or 7 minutes of wasted water. The hand held nozzle did not provide hot water after initial flush. Visible Mould in corners of shower also not a good standard. This could be easily rectified with regrouting. Staff very helpful and attentive.
It was my first time staying here and I absolutely LOVED it. The staff couldn’t do enough, the room was great and I just had a fantastic experience
Everything
I loved the hotel. The whole staff were amazing from reception to the valet parking to everyone in the hotel. The only downside is the entertainment movies and the breakfast buffet. I was so excited and couldn’t wait for the breakfast and was disappointed. The food was not great.
Rooms were nice and comfortable. Breakfast very good with a great selection of foods. Hotel had charm and sophistication.
Great restaurants, shops, the Royal Botanical Gardens and the theater are all about a fifteen minute walk or less. The staff was very cordial, the room was comfortable and the towels were great.
Like the old school lay out.. service was good. Just remember to watch John Wick movie before ya stay here..😂
Very nice hotel in CBD area you can walk everywhere.
Hot water in short supply at peak morning times. The only negative, otherwise great place.
Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. I recommended getting the breakfast option!
The Atrium view from the room.

Loved this hotel and the history of the building. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was great.
