Hotel a little tired, a bit of 1990 vibe going in but other than that it was perfect, pools lively, food in restaurants great, the only restaurant we did not like was the Buffet, breakfast n just ok in comparison to other hotels in Abu Dhabi but not bad, def go b and b so you can sample the A la carte restaurants, Lebanese, Italian, Belgian were just great. We will def be back here

Requires an upgrade

It is a functioning hotel but requires an upgrade. Sound proofing in room not the best and also has the old damp smell. Lot of dining options and location is also fine.

I visit this property several times a year and it never disappoints..

A/C was not shutting down. Room was freezing and needed to call maintenance to shut it down from the electric box.

Strange restaurant experience

The man wearing a legend jacket in the breakfast restaurant is so unpleasant and distasteful. I am so disgusted by him.

The rooms are worn out as it’s a very old hotel.

The facilities are amazing - three onsite pools, multiple restaurants, and good room size and condition. Had one small issue with the shower but was sorted immediately. All room amenities were excellent, customer service was good, facilities and hotel grounds are fantastic, and is located in my favourite part of Abu Dhabi. Would highly recommend!

Great hotel , close to many attractions but rooms need upgrade

Nice place to stay. The cleaning staff were amazing especially A young man call HADDAM he went the extra mile to make a line to hang my washed clothes I didn’t even ask for that was very thoughtful. Thank you HADDAM!The checking in was a bit not too great i checked in on a Saturday morning she didn't mention the different times the breakfast starts and ends week days and weekends. At breakfast there was a young lady called AYE very nice and respectful always smiling . The young man at the water, fresh juice and coffee area was very friendly. The classism there is ridiculous 🙏 others started being nice when they found out I was from America or American,and also a great tipper, the staffs who wouldn't acknowledge me before, all and more kept stopping at my table to ask if i was ok or make some type of conversation it was appalling. Overall it was a great place to stay near places to visit. I will definitely recommend.

Didn't Meet My Expectations

Hotel is unique with some older charm/character. However it could feel outdated in some of the rooms and shower was tiny. Had a screeching noise in my room for hours. Hotel staff came and tried to fix it. After they couldn't they still wouldn't move me. Additionally, asked for a late checkout (1pm). Housekeeping was at the door by 1030 asking me if I was checking out. Normal checkout is 12 so that was very early even without late checkout. Their check-in and check-out process takes way longer than expected also. Even with a pre-booked pre-paid room was standing in line just waiting. Appears it's not electronic and receptionist is typing a lot of information. It is a great location with great views from the rooms and the room service food was good.

Very nice, contemporary hotel with well-built rooms and walk-in showers. Nice views of the water from many rooms. Great private beach area with a great spa. Only complaint is with the gym. It has a good arrangement of equipment, including weightlifting equipment (my priority), but much of the equipment has rust on it and it makes you question the safety/maintenance and how frequently it's done on things like cables, pulleys, etc. Also, dumbbells only go up to 70lbs - would be nice to have heavier.

This is not a property to make you go wow, but neither is the price for this type of hotel. It’s a really good, functional resort close to the heart of Abu Dhabi. We really enjoyed our stay here, we felt comfortable and looked after by the staff. The rooms are from a previous generation, however they are spacious and functional. Try and get the highest floor possible to try and minimise the street racing that was taking place, if you got some spare money, pay for a sea/marina view room which will solve that problem!

Staff are excellent!!!

Friendly and professional team and a great location. The team in reception, the concierge, the pool team, the restaurant team are all extremely professional and a credit to the hotel. The shared facilities including reception and the pools are good. The rooms could do with a bit of a refresh but are perfectly adequate. Very enjoyable winter break at this great location. Need some improvements

You need to improve two things. 1. The lady welcomed us wasnt qualified speaking English properly. she is almost mumbling words and a bit hard to understand. The funny fact is I was born in Australia and a native speaker. 2. Someone called me in a room at 11:25, asking we are checking out or extend our stay. It is pretty rude calling directly in a room before noon and encouraged us to check out quick. This is pretty rude and funny

Hotel Staff was excellent, specially the staff were there at the Business Lounge however hotel should focus more on the cleanliness as we found cockroaches inside the room underneath the bedside table

Staff lack of professionalism, and the indigent reservation system

This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic faciltiies. There are several gorgeous dining options. The pools are lovely and the beach is such a lovely space too. There are places to walk to around and about but it is too hot for this really and it is very easy and cheap to take a taxi. If you want the waterpark and Yas island nightlife then this hotel is a good half an hour taxi ride from Yas island. however, the location for us was perfect and we were happy to travel to Island on 2 occasions rather than stay out there. The staff were just brilliant at the Intercontinental and I felt a real sense of welcoming and family friendliness, nothing was ever too much for them! I would recommend that it is worth taking the all inclusive offer. Drinks and food are expensive and so the 'All inclusive' works really well and is excellent value. There are several fantastic hotels on site and I would really recommend these, otherwise it is a taxi drive to somewhere else to eat. However, if you do want to go out and about then the hotel are flexible with the all inclusive and we were able to take it on a day to day basis which is brilliant. Loved our stay here thank you!

This is a beautiful 5 1/2 star hotel. The concierge could not be more helpful and accommodating. All staff are excellent. After one morning's breakfast almost all restaurant staff knew your name and what you liked. I cannot praise this hotel's staff enough. It’s one of the few hotels in Abu Dhabi (probably the only one) with smoking and nonsmoking rooms, two beds per room, and pork served in one restaurant.

Great stay but some issues

We loved our stay. Friendly check in/front desk staff: Inna & Mona Liza. Great lifeguard from Cameroon (didn’t ask his name) and also Sabina from Nepal in the restaurant at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. We had technical issues in room 1709 with the USB charging points not working and the wardrobe light would not turn off. These were immediately fixed after I’d reported them. The towels weren’t all great - we had soft fluffy ones and this one with a hole. I also discovered what might have been chocolate chips on the carpet beside the bed/bedside cabinet.

Check-in took more than a half hour. It was a public holiday, so they were very busy, and it was obvious that staff was doing their best, but they needed more staff on duty to help with the high volume of guests. There were no functioning key cards when I was checking in, so I was shown to my room and let in by staff, but I was given a key that didn't function and was told to return to reception in 30 minutes to activate it, leaving me unable to comfortably leave and return to my room/move about the hotel. The room also seemed like it had been cleaned in a hurry. I found someone else's hair on the shower wall in the bathroom when I used it for the first time, and the shower didn't function well. The drain was clogged and water collected on the shower floor. The AC was not intuitive for use, but the staff was swift to help us with that.

My six visit to this property so I think this speaks for my opinion of this hotel.

What makes this hotel a truly unique place are the people who work there. Staff was always kind, helpful, smiling, working very hard to make guests happy and that should be recognised foremost. The hotel has its own history which is fantastic and when you read the lower score reviews don't discourage yourself from booking because slightly outdated furniture doesn't matter at all. Rooms are spacious and tidy, it's quite and safe with easy parking and you can walk to the Corniche beach. We loved our stay and would honestly recommend it. Thank you Intercontinental Abu Dhabi for making our stay with you a memorable experience.

I like the hospitality and warmth of the staff

All staff extremely friendly and helpful, always have a smile. Rooms are serviced and kept very clean. Hotel is in a good location and is walkable to the Corniche areas. Hotel has lovely restaurants and the Beach and pool areas are superb

Property is in an ideal quiet location and the buffet meals served are extensive and very satisfying .

A lovely Hotel with great facilities. We unfortunately never managed to book a tennis court because of availability issues, but otherwise it was a great holiday destination. We went with a teenage son, but it is especially good for small families with playground,slide, kids, pools and amenities.

Beach and pool were unique

It was extremely noisy at night and early morning..we could barely sleep..sounds of moving Furnitures at 5 am, roaring machinery probably elevators engines running children footsteps Late night and early morning..so the sleep quality was bad, annoying and stressful noises noises of all kinds at all times of the day.

Great hotel and staff

amazing stay. I had booked two rooms and was upgraded to the executive rooms. I paid for the executive lounge access which was SO worth the money. Great ambience on the 18th floor, amazing staff, awesome afternoon high tea and pre-dinner canapés with a choice of drinks. This was our second stay there and we love the poolside and private beach anyway. It was as good as the first time. Breakfast is awesome with literally everything on offer. Can't wait to go back!

Good facilities and a desire for excellent service

We were visiting to watch the FIFA Club World Cup matches. On arrival there was a 40 minute delay getting bags to our room for which we were compensated with a nice bottle of wine. The bathroom needed some attention to the plumbing - the toilet flush sometimes ran forever and the shower control could not switch between the rain head or the hose head, so both were always operating, and the shower drained very slowly so one ended up standing in 5cm of water. This was not serious enough to compain about but we did mention it when we left so they could get a plumber in before the room was next occupied. Apart from that the stay was very good. The staff were polite and attentive. The breakfast was excellent with a good variety.

We would visit again

It has a big garden, a marina and private beach. Beautiful sea and city views. Located near the palace and corniche. Free and convenient car parking. Good and free WiFi. Delicious breakfast; the restaurant is a bit busy though. Live music was nice at dinner times. TV channels were nice. The room has separate shower, bathtub and toilet. Generally a quiet hotel except for a few sports cars on the street. Carpets and upholstery need some refurnishing. The staff are very friendly. Rayhan (main restaurant) is the most polite waiter we have seen. Also especial thanks to Prag (sorry for typo) for his care at the front office.

Amazing locations, clean, good service!

Spacious rooms and very comfortable bed and huge bathroom! Service is good, luggage holding service is offered and there is a bathroom in the lobby to freshen up before a flight or journey back. I wish there was a small quick service coffee/tea shop or booth as well for getting a quick coffee before morning meetings or grabbing one for the road.

Great location, its own marina and restaurants

Excellent restaurants at the hotel, with the FishMarket restaurant and the Byblos both fantastic in terms of ambience and great quality food. Everything was fine except that we were in a room with a connecting door to another room and we could hear some guy coughing like mad and laughing on the phone at 8am all the way to noon. Quite annoying that sound can travel that much. Apart from that, great staff, location near the Emirates Palace and the marina location with all the food and drink options is brilliant.

Terrible service.

Terrible service. We were told that there was a backlog on the orders and had to wait 2 hours with 2 kids. Also, the food at dinner was terrible, none of us were able to finish our plates.

Hospitality was excellent, and more than what I expected. The beach, and pools are very clean and provide amazing vibes. We enjoyed our time there to the max. Luxury was present in every aspect. The value we got for our stay exceeded the price we paid.

It was a wonderful experience. very clean and tidy. Ms Monaliza helped us in checking us in very smoothly. The stay was wonderful.

Its one of the older hotels in Abu Dhabi, but seems to be completely modernised. I can only say that as there is no modernisation work going on as with other hotels in Abu Dhabi, so you can relax. The outside bar and Belgian Cafe are great, with a good choice of food. The pork knuckle is definitely a challenge! One serving fed 3 of us one night. :-) I will add the waiters do sometimes have their 'quirks' and serving logic is a bit strange, but I suppose you get there in the end. Cleanliness in the rooms is faultless, by the cleaner Vazquez, who's really helpful and friendly. The property has 2 pools, one just at the property and a short work away is a private beach with another large pool, both great! Unfortunately only had time to visit each once but worth going back just to try them again.

Really friendly staff who were all willing to help no matter the problem. It's an older hotel but you wouldn't really notice, everything is modern and very clean. Had a great stay and am returning this week for a few more days

I did not stay in hotel more than 15 minutes. I reauested refund from expedia. Their shower water made my gums bleed. Refund requested.

Breakfast staff was amazing with personalized service. Gym staff always cheerful & helpful. In fact, all aspects of my visit were wonderful.

Bad reception

at the reception of the hotel they were not friendly, slow, complicated, and arrogant, always in link with the security guys for and reason. Suspicious. Very bad experience and checking out was the same with inefficient verification of the paid bill (which was already paid with hotel.com) requiring again and again proof. Ousay and Roaj useless and time consuming. Resto was cold and so so. Tv did not work well. Very bad experience in this hotel. They seem paranoid.

Intercontinental is our favorite stay in Abu Dhabi withs it’s views and wonderful staff We always have a superior stay and treated like royalty The hotel is one of the oldest in Abu Dhabi and has hosted royalty in years past from various countries of the Middle East

Another great stay

Great stay at the hotel. We were upgraded and the service was fantastic. Large selection of F&B outlets. We really enjoyed the Belgium Beer Cafe Terrace and the Fishmarket. The Bayshore beach club is superb.

My Wife and I stayed for 3 nights. We booked the executive lounge but unfortunately on arrival we were informed that it was closed. The staff in the piano bar (Mathai and Jasmin) were exceptional, as was Denzyl in reception. Overall great value for money.
