Lovely public areas. Standard room was fine but not set up well. King bed could have been pushed over more to allow for the left side of the bed to have a nightstand with a lamp. person on that side of the bed couldn't read in bed and overhead lighting was not bright enough either. I understood only continental breakfast would be provided (muffins and some individually wrapped granola bars and a gluten-free option) but would have liked a bowl of fruit (bananas, apples, oranges) to be added.
Very nice Inn. Decorated with elegance and made you feel like royalty. The staff was unbelievable and went out of their way to accommodate you in every way. Our room was perfect for our stay. Definitely highly recommend and will most certainly stay there again in the future.
The staff were kind and professional, but the stay was disappointing. There was no refrigerator, and the door lock felt insufficient. I could hear yelling from the next room but couldn’t call for help because the room phone wasn’t working — even after I asked for a replacement, it remained unusable throughout my stay. The sink was clogged and unusable. Breakfast was advertised as "Free Breakfast," but it turned out to be just a granola bar with no other options. The HVAC system was old and noisy, making it hard to rest. Overall, it was not an easy stay.
Room with space
I had an Amazon everything was in walking distances. But still drove to where i needed to go. The room was amazing not over clutter and had room to move around and not feel trap
Beat Up Property
Beat-up room without blinds or drapes, we were very disappointed and left.
You will pay for what’s outside of your room- building, beautiful lobby and event halls. Your room will be seriously outdated - heating fans are old, loud and better not to think how much dust is inside of them. Carpets are very used, furniture beaten up. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable and clean looking. Shower is oldish but good. TV is tiny and cable only. Basically- average cheap motel inside the beautiful building. Also - no room service. We stayed for a few days and our trash was never taken out. When we left it outside our room it just stayed there… Come to think of it - most likely the place is meant for events, not for the random travelers. Restaurant is beautiful and service is great but food is wannabe fancy but stuck in the 80ties and seriously overpriced. Go for a cocktail if you must, it will be served with a plastic straw but it’s nice to sit there.
Lovely stay! Staff was amazing! The Inn was so charming and clean. Would absolutely stay here again!
Great service and beautiful old world decor
In advertising for this hotel, it is noted through Expedia that Breakfast is included, however, there was no Breakfast at all. Just Coffee and Muffins were at the Coffee Stand. In today's economy, and with Hotel & Lodging Prices as high as they are, a hotel of this Calibur, should definitely has a decent Breakfast included. They use to have a very good hot breakfast before, they need to definitely bring it back.
Great boutique hotel very close to Eastman School of Music. Delicious chowder. Very nice staff. Luggage storage service.
Beautiful hotel
The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and the restaurant was excellent. It’s a preserved historic site, which adds to its charm. The staff was both friendly and professional, making our stay even more enjoyable. Additionally, the hotel’s location was very convenient, as Eastman School of Music was just a five-minute walk away. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it!
The building itself is old. But it is very clean and service was great so I will come back again later! All staffs are kind.
It was great! Both staff and room were amazing. Just have to fix the fire alarm. Kept going off so we had to leave room. Other than that a great place!
Our stay was absolutely perfect! The room was incredibly spacious yet still felt cozy, with a beautiful fireplace adding to the ambiance. It was one of the best stays we’ve ever had, and we can’t wait to return!!
Clean and friendly staff
It was nice but had a couple problems in the room they were never addressed. The bar closed early
I absolutely love this hotel. It’s a nice little escape in the middle of Rochester…great for visits when I visit my daughter at U of R. The check-in process was quick and the young lady at the front desk was extremely helpful. Great room and convenient location.
We liked it for its convenient location and its charming decor. It was surrounded by many dining options, including the inn's restaurant. We would stay here again.
The stay at the inn on Broadway was probably the worst hotel sleeping/accommodation experience I’ve ever had. For a boutique hotel the lobby was nice clean, but the rooms were pathetic drab chic attempt at aesthetics. Small bathroom with a small corner sink with two mirrors that you could even see yourself. The bed was horrifically uncomfortable. Felt like I was sleeping on a board. Mind you, I have a firm mattress at home and I enjoy a firm bed, but this bed was so old so worn out the springs on all four edges of the wall of the mattress were protruding out. my arm and my hip fell asleep multiple times woke me up multiple times because of a nerve compression this defective bed caused. The Plumbing, clanked and clanked and clanked all night long, woke me up multiple times. The hotel had very little occupancy yet they stick me in the worst room possible in my opinion. If you have upgraded rooms, I would think you’d want to show off your better rooms by upgrading your customers. I did go downstairs at around 7 AM to speak with the manager/ person at the front desk as I was raging with anger and sleep exhaustion. I explained to him my dissatisfaction with the accommodations. He was apologetic and understanding, it was not his fault, as I blame the bedding and poor room aesthetics/accommodations on management who are obviously doing things on the cheap. The include MD breakfast is a joke, coffee /tea and candy. I would NOT stay at this hotel on my return visit to Rochester.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly. The location was within walking distance of all major museums.
New Years stay
We had a great stay at the Inn on Broadway. The staff is so nice and the vintage feel to the place was awesome. Even came with a real room key, not a plastic card!
Wow - great place. Friendly, helpful staff. Great decor. Will definitely stay here again!!!
Lovely Christmas Getaway
Lovely old hotel with lots of character and detail. Beautiful fireplace and christmas trees on the second floor.
Customer service was amazing. Brian at the bar was super helpful and friendly. The room was nice but had some wear and tear. Our room had an adjoining door we weren’t using which was unfortunately let in a good amount of noise from the next room. Otherwise it was way better than staying in a traditional hotel room.
Beautiful old hotel. Comfy bed. Great location.
Excellent location. Beautiful, historic property, professional and welcoming staff. Incredible restaurant on premises.
This hotel is oozing with charm. Even more amazing was being here during the Christmas season. The rooms are meticulously maintained and adorably decorated. The staff was so friendly and very welcoming. It is in a great location and we were able to walk where we needed to. Highly recommend!
Our first impression was great. It was a wonderful place and would definitely go back. Perfect location foe what we wanted. They didnt serve or have any muffins or bars left for breakfast snack when we went down at 9am.
Historic hotel in downtown Rochester, NY
I liked this historic hotel but liked the staff even more. They were top tier in professionalism and made me feel special and right at home. A local friend met me for dinner. The bartender was so great we decided to eat at the bar instead of going into the restaurant. The dinner was absolutely gorgeous and so delish!
Very convenient and easy parking
Super cozy , clean and friendly atmosphere.
Perfect location downtown near the Eastman School of Music in historic building. It was perfect for us!
Absolutely love this Inn! The old-school ‘actual key’, furnishings/decor! Cocktails were delicious! Went to RBTL for a show & this was perfect!
Conveniently located and elegantly appointed.
It was a very lovely hotel and next time in Rochester I wouldn’t hesitate to stay anywhere else.
Mice infestation in the room. Found during the night. There was a single night staff on duty and he was not helpful and was on talking on his phone the whole time. He seemed to think this was somehow amusing, says he cannot give me a new room because only premium rooms are left(?), and proceeded to grab a broom… I insisted strongly for a switch, and got the keys to the “premium” room directly next to the prior room with the mice. Tried to pass the night with the lights on and luggage unpacked. Got out as soon as possible next morning. At least got a refund from a different staff in the morning, but won’t stay here again even if you paid me. Shame because the building looked nice.
wonderful hotel with great service and very conveniently located. i would definitely stay again. please note that breakfast provided is only coffee and muffins.
Hotel was quaint. Room was spacious and clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Great downtown location.
This hotel started life as a university club in the 1920's and has tried to maintain the same character except for improved amenities. They have added, for example, a USB port or two in each room, and a more modern elevator. Most of the furniture are antiques, maintained in very good condition. The bed was OK. The breakfast was not - it consisted of coffee, tea, a muffin, a granola bar, and perhaps a banana. To be precise, they did not refer to it as breakfast, but instead as guest snacks. The restaurant was decorated with lots of "art" - most of the quality you might expect from college art students (this was, after all, almost adjacent to the University of Rochester), and most of those rather depressing. However, there were two large jade carvings in the center of the room that were excellent. We mostly got along well there although I had expected something more in the way of breakfast. Apparently, though, the hotel advertisement did not really mention breakfast - I must have assumed it since this hotel showed up in the listings when I had specified only hotels with breakfast included. Oh well.
The Inn was centrally located where any tourist destination was no further than 15 minutes away. It was a perfect spot to stay in Rochester.
It was great!
The property is great like a time capsule from 100 years ago. It was wonderful.
Excellent place, will stay again when we have a chance. Thank you!
Very clean, beautiful place. Staff is amazing!
Before you all freak out about this review I just want to say this was a 5/5 for me. We did find a mouse in our room running around, it was pretty gross and freaked out since I can’t handle mouse’s or rats. After this experience the staff did everything they can to make it all better and they truly did. Liz was absolutely wonderful, gave us another room even when it was a fully booked hotel and free drinks at the bar. I don’t want the mouse to ruin this experience because it could happen anywhere and it doesn’t mean the hotel is bad in anyway. This hotel was lovely, clean, convenient and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff are amazing!!!
One of the nicer properties in the area. Good spacious rooms. Only downside was sharing the room with a mouse on the last evening there. Room was on the top floor too so I think there needs to be some urgency in bringing in an exterminator.
Stress-free stay with courteous staff at a stately property. Hope to soon find a resin to return.
Older styling but definitely a boutique feel with very attentive service, awesome shower pressure, bed was so comfortable and the towels/robes were great! Close to everything’. Definitely would stay here again!
Lovely
Everything was great. If I were to add one thing . . . a muffin and coffee for breakfast was fine . . . perhaps some orange juice would be a nice addition.
A wonderful classic hotel a short walk from the Kodak hall at Eastman to hear the RPO.
Had a good stay, would visit again!
Nice historic building. A little threadbare around the edges, but friendly staff and good service made up for it. It’s good to see the owners working to preserve an important location downtown.
As expected
The location on relation to our destination was perfect. The hotel itself was very quaint and homey.
They mentioned breakfast is included. Not true. It was only coffee (I had to asked for that too) and muffin. Oh, there were only two dried small oranges. That's all. Do not get fooled by that posting. Other than that was not bad
The Inn was very nice and we enjoyed the tavern. Our room was clean and comfortable but missing some things. Door moldings are knicked and smudged. But, it’s a 100 year old building and we love those buildings. Staff was great. Highly recommend. Parking was ample and adjacent to the hotel.
Beautiful property with great staff.
Eastman School of Music
Lovely boutique hotel close to the Eastman School of Music. Perfect for getting my son settled in his dorm room.
Quaint and convenient location!
Not well thought out; no desk in room and side chair losing its seat. Breakfast was a joke. Bed had metal tassels that could cause injury if not carefully avoided.
Very charming old hotel/ no frills
Very nice old hotel. Charming and quaint. Very no frills. People at front desk were excellent
Great restaurant historic building filled with Ramon Santiago art!
Clean, classic and intimate hotel.
I love the nostalgia of stepping back in time to the 1920s. It says breakfast is included in stay, but it is a couple of pastries, some fruit and coffee in the lobby that was gone when we checked in the morning.
I stayed in two different rooms during my time there. The corner room for my wedding night was beautiful, well decorated and very clean. I will definitely go there again.
Nice hotel, ok room, miserable "breakfast"
Hotel is nice. Historic. One room was decorated in a historic style, one was quite plain. The room was fine, only a double bed not a queen. Only set for one person (one coffee pod, one robe) so you would have to call for more supplies. The towels were extremely tough, like they were dried on a line? The bed was comfy. Mostly the disappointing thing was that the "breakfast included" was no name plain instant oatmeal with tepid water, one old orange and a couple of muffins. We didn't dare try the coffee. That was the spread in the lobby for all of the guests. Why advertise "breakfast included" at all? "Limited complimentary snacks" would not have triggered this mediocre review.
The Inn on Broadway is a great boutique hotel in downtown Rochester. The room was clean and spacious. Guest services were helpful and informative. Highly recommend.
The Inn on Broadway is located in downtown Rochester and is a historic landmark. It was a comfortable place to stay with modern amenities.
Wonderful, old building with a lot of neat quirks. Had a small suite that was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
Less than desirable.
Bathroom sink backed up after turning on faucet for 5 seconds. Was unable to control the HVAC in the room.
A Quiet Sunday in Rochester
Pleasant historic appearing hotel in the heart of Rochester. Very comfortable. Restaurant excellent. We were there on a Sunday so it was quiet. We would return.
The restaurant was five star Michelin quality. The hotel had some old charm but was in need of updating badly. The king size bed was too high. The windows were not able to be opened with a sign to that effect. Soundproofing was not good from next room. There was no venting fan for bathroom. There was a glass shelf above the sink which was perilous for items and especially the two beautiful crystal glasses placed there. There were no cream/sugars,stirers for coffee and only two coffees for two people. Very disappointing. Breakfast was a standup bar with muffins, protein bars, and coffee/tea. No service in dining room! To top off our stay, the toilet didn't flush properly in the morning and no maintenance man was available immediately or even after more than one-half hour. Luckily there was bathroom just down the hall for disabled and available. I would never recommend this hotel.
a pleasant Rochester stay
I have stayed here several times, always during the Rochester Jazz Festival. The location is perfect, the city very walkable. An aged hotel with personality, and a staff both outstanding and friendly too. A perfect place to start a visit, event or a place to eat. Their restaurant was very good. A- only because something can always be better right?
Enjoyed our stay.
Great
Location of the Inn was exactly what we were looking for. It was in walking distance to all the jazz festival venues. The bathroom was updated and awesome. Multi headed shower with temperature gauge! However towels were hard/uncomfortable. Free continental Breakfast for the price we paid for the room was disappointing as well. No coffee oatmeal or napkins, and day old muffins the first morning we were there. This was just after 7:10 when breakfast was supposed to be available (at 7).
We love the Inn on Broadway. It's a beautiful building with great amenities and outstanding staff. The shower is awesome too. Convenient to anything happening downtown. This is our go-to for Jazz fest etc.
Coffee bar in downstairs lobby was not consistently maintained. Ran out in afternoon. One morning, no coffee available at 5:50 am, or when I returned at 6:10. Plenty of people are looking for more than room coffee at 6:10 in the morning. Where's the staff on this?
Downtown Richester
The hotel is older and there was a lot of renovation going on. Our room did not have a table and desk for working on a laptop. This was problematic. The toilet mad a horrible banging noise when flushed. The towels were not soft and it’s impossible to read the small print on the soap and shampoo bottle if you’re not wearing your glasses. Who wears glasses when they shower? The staff is super friendly and helpful but they are often not at the front desk and totally missing when we needed to check out. The hotel is in a good location and they have a cozy bar tucked away with a very friendly bartender.
Very slow service at the restaurant, confusion with the orders and billing. The food was over cooked.
Quick Overnight Stay
Friendly staff, clean & cozy rooms, and great lounge atmosphere.
The only problem with the property was that the television was not working. When I went to explain this to the front desk, they said they would fix it. I was gone for four hours and came back and it was never fixed.
All was good. Only complaint is in the bathroom. There is no nonslip stripes in the tub. Be very careful not to slip in the shower.
I love the area, very clean spot to stay
In traveling I am very particular about comfort of the bed, and I was not disappointed. Had a very good sleep. We walked around then went to the bar at the hotel… the calamari and crab cake were delicious. A nice just right ending to a long day. The staff was very friendly and Adam was great, very friendly and lights up the atmosphere. Overall the hotel was great, would stay here again !!
The price was reasonable, and I somewhat expected a hotel that this may be a little tired and not at the best condition what I found was a hotel that was a freshly renovated was bathroom that was modern But respecting the old-fashioned character of the place, so even though things were knew They were respecting traditional style. The room was spacious and well appointed with enough plugs, and the bed was fairly comfortable, except that the edges were overly hard and raised, and let us to slide to the centre a bit. That would be probably my main complaint in a place that was actually very good and interaction with the receptionist was very positive as well
Unfortunately there was no water in the building when we arrived. It was back on upon our return from our show however which was greatly appreciated.
I loved the historic charm and decor of the property. Plenty of onsite free parking, bar and restaurant on site, and wonderful robe for after my shower. We did have to go to the bar to get ice and a drink as there are no ice or vending machines but it was not a problem. The bathroom had a slightly odd configuration with the sink and mirror in the corner and it was rather small but it worked. Would definitely recommend and this will be our spot for our annual trip to Rochester.
Needs more cleaning, v old carpeting, cheap towels
.
Great!
I was traveling alone and felt completely at home, very comfortable. Staff was so helpful and friendly!
Would not book agin.
Great location. Convenient parking. Smelly old elevater. Large room. A lamp and coffee maker didn't work. Cool shower . Creeky old bed was comfortable. No frig or microwave
Love this classical hotel. Just surprisly met a rat passed by my room. Hotel staff switched me to another room with lovely dessert.
Uninvited guest
There was a rat running around in our room. It appeared to be living under the bed. They offered to move us to a different room on the same floor. We opted instead to move to a new hotel. Still waiting for a refund.
No way would I return
Second visit to this property. The first was great but this trip was not. Broken toilet. Toilet couldn’t be flushed and ran all night. Annoying. No hot water. Despite running the water for 15 minutes there was NO hot water in the morning. I mentioned both to the front desk upon checkout and since I booked via a third party they didn’t offer jack! Very disappointing!
Great experience- coming back!
I experienced the best service - at the hotel and the restaurant in the hotel - that I have encountered in many years. Kind and generously responsive. This is a very welcoming place. It is also a gorgeous old inn, with modern updates. (Bed was great.)

Overall a great stay Traveled for work during St Patricks Day weekend so a lot of activity in the area
