We couldn't check in. The only person in the abandoned looking house didn't know about the booking. We were very tired and just needed a place to sleep, but this was beyond terrible. She tried to make us stay but we didn't feel safe in the place and left without even stepping into the room. I request not to be charged for this stay. This hotel is nothing like it is offer on your site.

The water came out from the shower water brown colour for 3 seconds. There are many mosquitos. Some dust on the ground. The building is old and some places might need some maintenance or renovation.

The decor wasn’t the friendliest, some spots look like they’re being used as storage with the excess furniture/old things laying around the place. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room but it’s in the tropics so can’t expect otherwise, but the staff will do everything they can to make your stay just that bit more comfortable. I got upgraded because there weren’t a lot of guests and I’m very grateful for that. I spent almost no time on the property so it was perfect for me. I’d recommend to a young person just looking for a place to sleep while they adventure but not for my parents. Very quiet and safe are with a really tasty restaurant nearby.

It's affordable! I would reccommend staying in one of the rooms with a King Bed! It has more space, a view, kitchen area and less or hardly any infestation. Buy your own breakfast! Unable to upload videos.

After checking discover that the room was not as advertised. It was run down and the surroundings was unsanitary. When I spoke to the person in charged he clams that for the price he is offering the condition of the rooms is adequate. He also went on to mention that he was approached to fix up the hotel but refused because he would have to carry up his price and he is comfortable the way it is. I checked out a few hours after and never got back a refund of may money. I am very surprise that Expedia have such a hotel on it's website and I hope that you look into this kinda ripoff coming from hotels claiming to be what they are not. Very disappointed.

Run-down hotel

The room smells like smoke and old, the beds smell like smoke too. The TV looks like it is about to fall from the very old stand it is on. Everything in the hotel is old and covered in spider webs. There is NO restaurant nearby except for the very nice hotel that is a 5-10 minute walk in which you can get pay for food. Would not recommend to anyone!

Unique Experience

I stayed here for one week and the staff were great. The people that lived near the hotel were also extremely friendly. This was my first time ever in the Caribbean, and it was a wonderful experience. I did not have the breakfast but it was during their slow season and I actually got an upgrade at no charge on my room. If you are traveling on a low budget, this would be a good spot. The only thing would be is that you will need a vehicle if you are in the area on Sundays as their public transportation does not run there on that day. Good hotel for the money

A dump

I booked this place online because I wanted an inexpensive but decent place to sleep and shower for an overnight layover flight. I arrived at this so called guest house after 11pm and just the entry to the office was a turn off. I was first greeted by haunted looking cats, bats and bugs. What a horrible first impression. The key guy smelled like smoke, the lobby area was clearly old, beat up and had dirty linens in a pile on the floor. He took me to my room, and on entry the door was already opened. That was turn off. I hated everything. This place is just old, and needs a coat of fresh smell. Dingy bed linens and dingy everything. I could hardly settled to bed because bugs of all kinds was left in the room to keep my company and that was a disturbance all night. The AC was auto set and no way of adjusting really and it auto shut off for quite a bit which left the room dry and hot because no other air. This place isnt worth anything, but just for utilities sake and simple manual labor, just a mere $20 a night. This place is a dump, trash , and should be locked down for sprucing. The guy /owner couldnt care less, he himself looks tacky. He ripped me off too with my taxi fare in the morning. Yes, that Gregory is on coke or some other high drugs. He is in a different world but not the hospitality one. I hope the $20 he robbed me of for the taxi I didnt take makes him and his place a tad bit better. Please dont stay here. Ive heard staff at the airport or taxi driver can recommen

Great location - close to beautiful beach

Gregory and the staff were really helpful friendly and had no problem dealing with any of our requests. They made us feel very relaxed and at home. Had a courtesy bar which was very trusting. Basic hotel at a great price. Thank you Gregory for helping us have a lovely holiday, Karen and Jane Very peaceful place - stunning views good location. Five Islands village had a bar (run by a guy called Only who liked to prove his unusual name) very local not really busy but did meet a few for a chat and local food. Nothing else much there so my friend and I got a local bus into town only took 10mins. We tried walking loads of times but kept getting picked up not only by the bus but a few locals would stop and drop us into town so friendly one day a women drove us and took us to three shops until we found what we wanted and refused any payment. The nearest beach is stunning - small bar with good food closes at 4pm. Lots of places to walk and explore full of free roaming horses, cows and goats.

Ideal location and Relaxing Atmosphere

I had an incredible time staying at this hotel, the beach was absolutely beautiful and close enough, good snorkeling when it was not rough out. The few meals I ate at the hotel was some of best food I had on the island, excellent local flair to the meals. We stayed in the Island View room, it had a balcony and was decorated nicely with a million dollar view, highly recommend this room!!! The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and could always be reached if not on premises. Drinks/snacks were always available, if dining you need to just let staff know ahead of time. You may want to rent a car if you stay here if you want to see the whole island, we rode the bus everyday and found that quite suitable and the people were very accommodating. There is a great sense of community at this Inn, I met a lot of nice people. Overall the experience at La Galleria is not your typical four five star resort, I loved not having crowds and found the atmosphere to be extremely relaxing. Also other reviews make reference to insects everywhere, this is not true other than the mosquitos at night.

Tolerable bargain hotel in Deep Bay area.

This hotel has seen better days and maintenance is lacking in many respects. On the lower level there are two larger rooms with kitchen; these look OK, but the rooms in back are too small for a couple with luggage. Be prepared to climb crooked and twisting stairs with your bags. Breakfast and dinner are available, if the cook hasn't called in sick (it happened for two days). But you can also find food in Five Islands village. The area is quiet at night. Mosquitos can get in even with the windows closed. Maid service is every second day. The bed sagged in the middle. The towels and linens are threadbare. There are no hand towels or facecloths. Just soap, no other toiletries. The sink drained extremely slowly. The shower head is almost entirely blocked with calcium. The ceiling lamp is dim and the wall lamp didn't work. The stairs going down to the road to the beach haven't been swept in ages. The staff can book land and sea excursions and that works fine. To get to Deep Bay beach one has to walk through the lobby of nearby Grand Royal Antigua Resort (which looks like a ghost town). Deep Bay has good swimming and there are a few other beaches in the area. The two nice rooms were occupied by people staying there for three months.

Beach view gorgeous; all else not so pretty.

All-in-all our experience had its highs and its lows. We originally were located in a no-water view room. We moved to a room with a great ocean view. The room was clean. However, the owner does not provide wash clothes, hand towels, shampoo and the small bar of soap that was provided was as hard as a rock (dated 1997). We were asked to turn off the A/C when we were out visiting the sites to save on electricity. In addition to these minor issues, we were under the impression that the breakfast meal was included. So, the first morning we ordered a full meal. By accident we learned from our host, the owner, that the meal was $12.00 US dollars each. Since we didn't think it was worth that price, we opted for coffee only, thinking the instant coffee we received would cost somewhere around $2.00 a cup with free hot water by the pot refills. Oh, we were so wrong! The cost per cup was $3.00 US dollars. Dinner was available at a responible price, and we ate several evening meals on the open veranda overlooking the lagoon and setting of the sun over the ocean. Very relaxing!

Not worth the price charged, filthy, dirty obsolet

This hotel is in desperate need of overhauling. The patio is a true at your own risk, you feel the wood crumbling as you walk on certain spots. The rooms are completely obsolete, dirty, and uncomfortable. I did two stays and the second room I got had NO WINDOW, which is totally unacceptable. The only upside of this hotel is the view which is fantastic. If you look only for a view then it is your place, if you want clean, comfortable room then select another hotel.

It was the worst possible stay ever. I have never experienced this before with hotel.com. The owner was pathetic. There was internet at the hotel and I wanted to move out and get new hotel. He fought and literally gave me a lecture on principles and values and didn't get me my money back. I think hotel.com should seriously consider the hotels they involve themselves with bc it screws up their reputation as well.

Great hotel for budget travellers!

If you want a five star experience you'd be better to look at the sanitised, identical hotels on Antigua that can be found anywhere in the world. However if you prefer a family run hotel that will treat you as an individual and not just another customer then La Galleria is the place for you. It was not busy when I visited so I just chose the room I wanted when I arrived, although this might not be possible in high season. On the day after my arrival Mr Gregory took me for a walk around the area, accompanied by his delightful children. They gave me information and advice on where to go, and booked for me when I wished to go on trips. Anything I asked for was given to me. I had breakfast included in my deal which was lovely, but self catered the rest of the time. There was an adequate fridge in my room plus a gas cooker with some cooking and eating equipment. Most important for me as a lone female was this place is safe. I was working as well as on holiday so I had my laptop with me, plus mobile phone and I felt totally able to leave these items in the unlocked cupboard in my room. I trusted the staff completely and knew they would not be taken or touched when my room was cleaned every day. The lock on my room was totally secure. I'd say this hotel might suit independent travellers and backpackers like myself best. The prices are reasonable on what can be a very expensive travel desination, so keep your expectations in line with this and you won't be disappointed.

The Inn La Galleria - Hidden Gem

This hotel is one Antigua's hidden gems. It's a locally run inn with an amazing view of the coast. Coconut Bay, The Lagoon and Deep Bay are all visible from the decked seating and dining area. The owner and staff are friendly and the inn has good connections to the community. I've been welcomed here with open arms and have received a lot of local knowledge to enable me fully appreciate the area.
