Great location. Very comfortable beds. It is right in the centre of the Royal Mile so very lively at night.
Staff were very helpful with our needs especially Rijaq who helped providing the fire alarm system for us as we are deaf in case of fire at night. Room was a tad small but it is well maintained and clean. Breakfast is good. Choices of cereal, fruit and cooked breakfast. If we come back to Edinburgh again probably for the Military Tattoo, we will go back there, if the price is right, of course.
No frills, but Good Value
Great location - very close to the center of all the best attractions and sights. The room was good quality for the price. I only struggled with keeping the room a comfortable temperature at night and the water pressure in the shower could've been better. Overall though, the room is a good value for price and a good option for sure.
Great idea Ibis
Great stay, brill idea they have also, skip the room clean, get a £5 voucher off food and drink, and you can ask for clean towels on top of that
Breakfast was great compared to other Inis hotels in Edinburgh
Good location. Walking distance to all attractions in Edinburgh.
Avoid
I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Having spent the previous night in another local hotel that only cost £30 more I found the Ibis very over priced. It’s shabby and run down. My sink didn’t drain properly and smelt as a result. The sheets a scratchy and the staff seem disinterested.
GREAT LOCATION SMALL BUT CLEAN
You pay for location. It is perfect for conveniently seeing the Royal Mile. However, the hotel is way overpriced and poor. We booked months in advance to receive a small room by the kitchen. The room was dirty and had no sound protection. The bed was a Matt on a box spring. Super disappointed in this location.
The area is super convenient but very active. We had an exterior room and could hear all the street noise throughout the night. Bed was not very comfortable. Cleaning staff seemed to come at random times of the day. Breakfast had many offerings.
The location is wonderful. Very central Royal mile. However, my door wouldn’t shut properly. They did come look at it but we had to let it slam shut and I felt bad for the people near us. The room was okay. Needs some updating and the outlet didn’t work. Otherwise it was fine for a one night stay.
Great hotel in a brilliant central location. Everything within walking distance. Polite and friendly staff. Only gripe was a noisy room due to the wind whistling outside. Not a complaint of the hotel, just an observation. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again!
Great hotel! We were on our honeymoon and the staff made everything to make our stay more special!
Great location and great price
Central Edinburgh location, but clean comfortable and quiet.
Excellent location Poor cleanes, room carpet are very dirty , room smell horrible
Excellent hotel. Just off royal mile. Had a bar that opened very late. Perfect place to stay. Staff so lovely.
We loved the location
Great location
Lovely stay, nice room, comfy bed. Excellent location to or exploring Edinburgh.
Location was superb.
We would like a later checkout?
A great location just off the Royal Mile. Desk staff were fantastic. We stayed here based on location, wanting to walk the Royal Mile and experience this part of Edinburgh. Would definitely stay here again.
Nice enough room. Described as a top class hotel, which it is not. Not great value.
Great location - check in time at 3 PM is a little inconvenient. No refrigerator in the room and you can’t control your own air conditioning.
I booked a twin room for my daughter and husband, however they were allocated a double room. I purposely chose this hotel because you offer twin rooms. I am very disappointed this was not honoured.
Never never never again stay with Ibis
Yes its a budget brand but a London premium prices for Edinburgh. A very slow frustrating check in process, slowest I've ever experienced for a hotel. The single beds were child sized with toppers rather than standard adult singles. A door to a presuming adjoining room would indicate that this expensive room was wholly inappropriate for two adults. The only postives I would say was that the breakfast was of a high quality and looking forward to checking out!
Room too hot
The room was adequate for a budget hotel. On the small side but very clean. The room was extremely hot and we even had the heat off (Oct time frame) and we opened the window and used a fan but the window in the room faced a wall at a strange angle so there was no airflow. The breakfast was good except for the powdered scrambled eggs. The staff was friendly and helpful but it’s unlikely that we will stay in this hotel again when we return to Scotland. Stay on a lower floor- we were on the 3rd.
Excellent location just off the Royal Mile Have stayed here in 2023 & 24 will comeback again
The hotel is minutes from the Royal Mile and other points of interest including bars. Sadly, it is hard to sleep when the bars are open, the noise can be very loud!
This has to be the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed at (and I've stayed at theme park resorts too many times to count). Between the broken toilet with constantly running water, the obscenely loud shouting from people outside, the constant sound of traffic and horns, the bass from the live music down the street vibrating the room, and the oddly loud hum from the hotel itself, I didn't sleep at all. The location is fine if you want to be central to things in the area, but the noise never stopped. And I mean never. I thought for sure it would stop after midnight at some point but it absolutely didn't. The room was quite cramped (especially if it was meant for two people), and I would not stay here again.
Location, location, location - this hotel has it! It did get a bit noisy at night because it's near everything but the noise wasn't enough to really interfere with sleep/relaxing. I'd definitely stay here again. Nice little coffee shop/bakery next door.
Excellent reception staff, Raja. Convenient location
The rooms were clean and staff helpful. It could get noisy at night as this seemed to be a location close to universities.
Woof...
We stayed at quite a few amazing hotels during our two weeks in the UK...this was not one of them. Twice as expensive and half the size of any of the other 5 hotels we stayed at (Islay, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Belfast). Comically small. So small only one person could be out of bed navigating the floor at a time and a ceiling dormer right next to the bed that I had to duck under when I got out of bed (see photo). The shower wouldn't drain and we both had to stop mid shower before the water flowed over the curb. A mattress that felt that it was made out of concrete. This would be a perfect room for a hobbit, but not for a man and certainly not for a couple. Broom closet maybe? Did I mention the all-night revelry taking place right outside our window? In all seriousness, unless you have some reason for staying right on the Royal Mile, head into New Town (walking distance) and you'll find a quieter, larger room for less money. We'll definitely be back to Edinburgh, but won't be staying here.
Very friendly staff.
The Ibis is in a great location by the Royal Mile. We were happy that it has an elevator! The bar was an unexpected bonus. What we didn’t care for was late night noise from the bottles that were being dumped after 10 pm, but we realize that it could’ve been the bar next door. Also - a fan in the room would’ve helped! All in all a good experience and price point.
Great location. Staff extremely helpful & kind.
breakfast could have been better with more options.
Hotel is ideally located near major attractions, easy to walk to wherever you want to go, safe, clean and great staff. It is very noisy during the school year, the university kids were loud until about 5 am and I had a hard time sleeping through the noise.
The hotel is centrally located, just off the Royal Mile, so there were many restaurants and great sight-seeing attractions close by. If you have trouble sleeping with a noisy environment, there was a fair bit of activity from people partying & road cleaning equipment late into the night…over-all, I enjoyed my stay and rate it a 4/5
Our room faced the garbage area so was loud at times with windows open but otherwise lovely stay!
Great location. Easy walking around town. Room was clean.
The staff was courteous and helpful. I requested a quieter room and it was indeed quiet. The room was better than expected, but twin beds seemed more narrow than average twin bed. Also, pillows were too thick for neck comfort. Otherwise I thought it was a great stay.
completely overpriced for the basic room and bathroom etc. all it has got is location. (location, location, location i guess). oh. Apart from the noisy pub across the road.
Disappointed that the room was so small but it was an overall pleasant stay.
Very central, great breakfast, lovely staff
This was a fabulous hotel! Right off the Royal Mile, easy walk to the main train station. Comedy club around the corner, lots of dining options within walking distance. The hotel staff were fantastic, it was clean and well appointed. highly recommend.
Edinburgh
Loved the location! So convenient to the Royal mile, Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle. Lots of shops and food nearby
Basic amenities but clean and staff are very helpful. Excellent location
The hotel was very nice. I would have liked to have known about parking a 5-10 minute walk away (uphill to the hotel) and the expense to park at the parkade. Even with the discount 18 pounds was shocking
The Ibis hotel is located centrally to Royal Miles where all the main restaurants and shops are located. A short walk to St.Giles cathedral and the Edinburgh Castle.
Very well located, right off the Royal Mile, close to everything. Very clean room. Can be slightly noisey some nights if the room gives on the street but we slept very well with the windows closed. Highly recommend!
Shower drain was blocked. After 2 minutes water overflowed shallow tray into bathroom . Why no toilet brush? I had to use toilet tissue to clean the bowl. Regards Hugh Dorrington
clean room, friendly staff
Great staff very helpful, wonderful breakfast & bar
Todo muy bien, aparte de que está muy céntrico cerca de todo
I stayed here for 3 nights during the end of festival season. I had not realized that the festivals would be going on, and just know that it is noisy into the evening. It is a great location, near noisy bars, great restaurants and cafes. The room was very small (it was tight with 2 people and suitcases) and the bathroom was minuscule but both were clean. I did notice that the carpet against the outside wall was damp as if there was a leak. The staff were wonderful, they helped us get help for a medical emergency.
Stayed with my family, hotel was safe and in the middle of of attractions and restaurants and pubs.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Twin room was very small with limited space to walk around the beds. No air conditioning and fan extractor noise all night from outside the window.
This place is adequate for a single nights stay, but beyond that it would be terrible. The location is straight up inconvenient. During the Fringe festival it was a nightmare. People hanging out in front of the front door while we were trying to drag in our luggage. Parking is a good 6 minute hike to a garage. The room was absolutely tiny. It’s just like Microtel. The room was clean and the beds were fine, but the amenities in the room were lacking. No tissues, hand towel or facecloths. No a/c. No luggage rack, probably because the room is so small you can barely walk by the beds. Positives were that it had an elevator even though it was tiny. Breakfast was good. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
near the middle 0f the royal mile,Close to everything
Comfortable hotel
Brilliant short break, a comfortable hotel in a central location which made it perfect for getting around quickly. a lovely area surrounding the hotel
Great location Clean and Comfortable
I came up for The Fringe and it was amazing to be in such a central location. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. My shower did block, but it was sorted out very quickly. My only complaints are, there weren't nearly enough sockets especially by the bed. Also for the price 2 x teabags and 2 x coffee sachets seemed a little frugal. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable
Good solution in old town. Nothing spectacular but delivers on what is expected. Good breakfast with decent selection.
Great location for the Edinburgh castle and walking to everything
Amability of employees, cleaness of installations and rooms, etc , excelent breakfast.
Overbooked
We arrived to find out they had overbooked the hotel (aka gave our room to someone else). They offered to send us to another hotel across town however this was not something we could do. They eventually put us in a room with a tiny twin bed and the room was also much smaller than the one we had paid for. They refused to provide any compensation for the downgrade in room. They did not show any empathy.
Great fit walking around Edinburgh and access to trains
Room small; lacked shelves/drawers for easy suitcase management. Found th larg towels-only option to be cumbersome. Very nice breakfast. Front desk staff knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful (directions, making arrangements/reservations).
The location was outstanding. We had room 108 facing the back. With the windows closed, it was surprisingly quiet. The room was quite small, we had two narrow twin beds, pushed together, and only one spot to put a suitcase (on the desk). There's a makeshift closet in the corner which looked cool but took up valuable space, holding a spare blanket and the hair dryer. There was one plastic chair at the desk and a bench on the side too narrow to hold the other suitcase. Finding a spot for the second suitcase was awkward and we had to climb over it no matter where we put it.There was no room between the beds and one bed was very close to the wall. There was a plug on the desk to charge multiple phones. I didn't find an outlet next to the bed. There were three towels and a bath mat.The staff was friendly, everything was was clean, the hotel itself was modern, the (free) wifi worked and we had a nice stay. I would recommend it, just prepare to be scrunched or leave the other suitcase at home.
Excellent location, small rooms don’t expect much.. Kind Staff.
This hotel is situated right in the heart of the Royal Mile. It was within walking distance to the train station, Edinburgh Castle, the bus station and lots of restaurants. When we first arrived, we were worried about the street noise, but they have double windows that completely blocked out all of it. While we were in Europe we stayed in five different properties in different countries and the staff here were the absolute best in answering questions and assisting with our needs. The biggest downside to this property is the bed. It was so hard it was like sleeping on a concrete floor with a sleeping bag for a mattress.
Highly Recommend
Perfect location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Not for me
This was my first tie at an Ibis. it will be my last. I do understand this is a “lower budget” hotel. I accounted for that. But it was very loud almost 24 hours a day.. the food at breakfast was not good (i did one day.. did not go back)… and it was the most uncomfortable bed i have slept in in a long time. This is not the place for me. It was centrally located which is why i picked it. And the people were very nice…. I am sorry it was not more pleasant
Fantastic location
Location was perfect. Right in the center of the Royal Mie. Twin beds with foam mattresses were still comfortable. Small room and bath. Breakfast and dinner available for a small fee.
Great location!
A perfect hotel if you want a location in the heart of Old Town Edinburgh. Not so great if you want parking anywhere near the hotel at anything near a sensible (additional) cost, or a bath or a fridge or room to swing a cat or dont like bagpipes or other noise / anti-social behaviour immediately outside the premises.
Very convenient to the Royal Mile and all the restaurants and shopping it had to offer.
Wonderful staff and convenient location
O
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms small but very clean and cute, central to eating and shopping, and the breakfast delicious.
Great staff, easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go. Neighborhood could be little noisy at night.
The staff are exceptional-very helpful and kind. The rooms are clean. The neighborhood can get a little loud at night.
Tiny room
The room was tiny. The bathroom reminded us of an airplane bathroom. It was a challenge to open both of our suitcases at the same time.
Very nice
Rooms were small, bed was hard, walls were thin you can hear other rooms.
No Air Conditioning, Noisy Open Window Alley
It was a warm July night in London and there is no air conditioning. There's a thermostat but no AC! We had the window open and it faced an alleyway. Constant noise of people partying all night and also vomiting. I would not stay there again. The check-in people are very nice and helpful.
Hotel assocaites were super friendly and helpful. Minimum amenities, no phone, no safe, no fridge, no AC, window had to be left open for air but you heard the loud street/people noise. The hotel was clean and stay good.
Basic but clean comfortable and friendly staff.
The location is great in Center City. Recommend you stay on higher floor to reduce street noise…. Since there is no air conditioning. The windows open to let in cool air. The front desk staff was very helpful. It is a very basic hotel with free amenities but served its purpose. We had a nice stay.
Very well located.
Very small room. No AC.
Centrally located.
We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. Having breakfast and snacks/bar onsite was great as was the welcoming lobby area. Location was perfect.
All average, nice staff, room too small
Within walking distance to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and Victoria Street. Along with shopping and dining.
Great location
Great location for the hotel. The car park is about a quarter of a mile away so be prepared for that. The staff is fantastic.
great place!
Great place to stay! Clean, comfortable, and close to many interesting places. I liked the environmentally sustainable features of the hotel and appreciated the parking voucher (parking was only 12 pounds per day).
Friendly staff
