More like a motel than a hotel. They have a terrible, unmade car park, akin to driving on the moon with huge craters! Grubby little workmen smoking weed in the car park which wafts around in to the rooms. Done expect a good nights sleep as the lights shine in to the rooms, the curtains don’t pull properly so impossible to block the light out and it’s lit up all night along the landings. Hot rooms without aircon so you need the windows open so that you don’t cook which unfortunately means that you get to listen to some of the undesirable guests arguing and slamming doors until the early hours. I stayed for 3 nights and didn’t sleep well on any of them. Avoid this hovel at all costs!
I arrived and there is no system for the key. I h
I arrived and there is no system for the key. I had to wait 1hour They left me in The room. The light it wasn’t working. The toilet was blocked. The carpet in the room was disgusting, dirty.
Acceptable for low budget stay
Property is in need of painting and maintenance. Carpet in the room and wall paint need update. Generally the hotel is acceptable for a low budget stay. One positive aspect is its located around main roads and supermarkets
Terrible hotel!!!!!
Terrible hotel never stay at an ibis agin! Curtains don’t fit the windows with a massive light outside! Random men walking about till 4 in the morning. Upon arrival a man standing outside reception smoking who then serves my drink behind the bar without washing his hands and stinking of smoke absolutely disgusting! So the man clearly works there but all I see him doing all night was sitting down playing on his phone rolling cigarettes! Overall very very disappointed. Only plus the girl on reception was good
Dilapidated
Run down and disrepair. Dingy and very small. Toilet wouldn’t flush. Door frame severely decayed and rotten, crumbling wood., damp patches on the walls.
Never again!
The stay was awful with no sleep! Unfortunately some guests were fighting and screaming from 1am. Police called and things settled sightly, then they reappeared and were bare knuckle fighting shouting and screaming. Called police as I was on my own and very scared, thought my car would get damaged as they were throwing bricks and objects. The police and manager of ibis finally calmed the situation by 4am! Discussed with manager when checking out and he was very apologetic and understanding as he too had to come to try and sort the situation.
Last Resort
Very noisy, rooms in poor state of repair, had to leave on last night at 3am due to people partying in other rooms, nightmare!
Don't think I'll return to this hotel.
A very 'tired' hotel in need of some tlc. Room's bathroom required some repairs, namely the towel hooks were coming loose from the wall and no sink plug. Bedroom curtain at one end was missing some hangers so drooped and did not cover the window properly. This, compounded by the fact the motel-style rooms had very bright external lights outside the door, meant the room did not get very dark with curtains drawn. Resturant food very basic, either microwaved of frozen and oven cooked. Distubed in the night by load car revving from the car park. The girl on the reception was also responsible for cooking and bar duties (despite this, she was the best aspect of the hotel, doing a great job against all odds).
Great staff, cold room
Was extremely cold, and the light above my room door (outside) was not working. The parking bays certainly need the borders repainting. The staff, however were excellent and extremely helpful.
Not good
Hard to identify staff. Bar staff wearing scruffy shell suit and T-shirt. Looked like some people were living there permanently.
Ok...some room for improvement
Before staying at this hotel I had read about how they had done work to improve it and effectively this was clear in the rooms. They were clean and the bathroom was in a new condition. The staff were extremely efficient and helpful. However there are a couple of areas that could still use improvement. The mattress was thin and thus hard as I was you feel the support underneath. As we're the pillows. So not the best night's sleep. Also, as it is a motel type of hotel, the outside light stays on all night and the curtains do not fully block it out. This woke me up regularly. Maybe lights with movement detection might be a solution...? Overall though it was a satisfactory stay.
Overnight stay
Found the hotel to be very satisfactory for an overnight stay when visiting relatives in the area. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. As we arrived in darkness we found it difficult to locate the hotel so more signing on the approach roads would be beneficial.
The room wasn’t as what I expected but I’m asking for my refund! But getting no hope
No way to use the bathroom very little room in a wheel chair
Horrendous food
On arrival wasn’t informed decorating so reception was closed using a small back room which wasn’t the best. Staff were extremely helpful and room was small but clean and tidy Only problem was breakfast in the morning We paid for a breakfast, the restaurant was closed so had our breakfast in the small reception room were we checked into the night before. No coffee available and the food I can only describe as not fit for human consumption it’s was cold and the bacon looked like it was a week old The morning staff member was more interested in sending messages on his phone Hopefully once open to it full things might improve
needs investment and refurbishment
Disappointing and damp
The room was damp and everytime we had a shower the room got damper. The bed was uncomfortable and when we raised our issues the staff didn't care.
Exterior disappointing but rooms lovely
Was pleasantly surprised with the room as the exterior was all a bit shabby and the staircase to get to the upper floor was not very welcoming ( dark, dingy and dirty). The room itself was very clean amd had a great bathroom. Wasn't comfortable with the window opening on to the walkway outside so had that closed all night which made the room quite stuffy. My choice though and there was a fan provided which i didn't notice till the morning
Even w a GPS we had trouble finding this place. Lousy signage. BUT - the staff/ attendant was very very helpful- he went way out of his way to assist us. PROBLEM- dangerous! The tub/ shower had no mat or treads or hand grips and the tub floor was very very slippery. Scary & dangerous especially for anyone w any limitations
It’s like an American Motel. Reception staff were polite but the hotel itself was tired. The carpet in the room was dirty. The whole place could do with being updated. Not worth the price paid.
.
This hotel is very tired, extremely basic and in very bad condition. The staff are friendly and professional but overall it’s pretty bad
Inside the room was very clean and well presented, however the outside of the hotel is not inviting. Stairs dirty, wet, building looks old.
COVENTRY STAY
Great stay at a hotel chain we have not stayed in
Restaurant had virtually nothing left on the menu. Draft beer also out.
Tired & characterless. Like a battered old US motel. Soulless bar & restaurant. Limited menu with some unavailability. Staff quite chirpy though if not polished. £100 for B&B excessive.
Rubbish
Useful location, very good friendly staff, small bar available and choice of food
Basic
Room was clean with a working fan Do NOT eat there. The food is just frozen foods warmed up. Never have I been served a supermarket fish fillet and oven chips as a meal. Also the bar is just bottles and a couple of kegs. There’s no way I was risking breakfast Location is terrible. There’s nothing except an Asda within walking distance
Average stay nothing special very basic room
Old, dated motel but quiet and secluded.
Very dated, old motel style hotel. Not what you would expect from an Ibis. But very quiet and the room was a standard clean Ibis room. No atmosphere in bar or restaurant.
Terrible hotel. Wouldn’t stay there again left after one night
awful
Awful TV didnt work, sealant coming off around the bath (and badly applied) and in the morning there were snail trails across the carpet!!!!
Good value
The room was clean and functional. The shower was good and plenty of hot water. They advertise as having soundproofing, this is not true my room was quite noisy.
Staff were f***** rude. Were so defensive they basically called me a liar for the problems i reported to them. They refused to give my money back for the crap room, toilet would NOT flush. And these a holes expect me to pay over £100. Not a chance. I gave them plenty of times to issue a refund but they havent. They are thiefs. I WOULD RECOMMEND NOT TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER
If I’d known I was staying in a chalet I would not of book it did not feel safe there.
Disappointing
Never again.
This is very possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and bearing in mind we stay in hotels on a regular basis both in the UK and the continent that amounts to alto of hotels. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable and the water hot but there it ends. The staff barely spoke English, did not understand my booking and only had one room booked for me when I had booked 2. I had also booked for another date and they had the wrong date written down, despite my confirmation. We WILL be cancelling that!! The reception area was run down and grubby, the exterior the same. We asked the bar for some ice and was told they had none- what bar doesn't have ice? they weren't even busy!! The whole area was filthy and the rooms were shabby. We were going to eat in the " restaurant" but when we saw it decided that a take away would be more hygienic and a good deal nicer!! The during the night we had no sleep as it appeared that we had actually booked into a brothel. There were ladies of the night everywhere and we were woken in the night by obvious goings on - in the morning the outside area - disturbingly close to the our bedroom door, were used condoms. Disgusting doesn't come close. What a shame this place has gone down hill - this was an hotel that I have used in the past and been satisfied with.
Avoid
Avoid. I was woken up 4 times by other guests. Door kicking, shouting, music etc. Management weren't interested. Booked for 2 nights left after one. No option to refund. Breakfast was cold.
Good value for money.
.
good
Great stop over
Reception staff were calm, kind and welcoming when we arrived after midnight. The food we ordered after we arrived was hot really enjoyable.
DOG SHOW
The hotel is very convenient for the dog show I was attending. The one complaint I do have is that the post code for the hotel directs you up Abbey Road, however the bridge has been bricked off. It would be beneficial if for directions the post code of the nearby David Lloyd Club was provided. This post code takes you directly to the hotel car park.
Exceeded my initial expectations
I have not stayed in an Ibis hotel/Motel before and when I arrived I was a bit dubious as the accommodation building looked a little tired from the first fleeting glance. However, inside the room was very clean and nicely decorated. Everything you would expect from a hotel chain was included and the reception staff were very helpful and polite. I was a lone traveller with my two dogs and the charge for having my dogs stay is more than I have paid in other hotel chains. I actually preferred the Motel to a hotel as the door opened out onto a little grassy area which was great for allowing my dogs to stretch their legs at night and first thing in the morning. Despite their being lots of guests staying the rooms must ne fairly well insulated for noise as I did not here any of the other guests. Check In and out was very quick. Overall really plwasantly surprised by my stay and I would definitely use them again.
Look for somewhere else
Dont follow the sat nav because it takes you to the wrong side of a footbridge with hotel on other side. Looked like stalag 13 on arrival. Reception said yes your room is all paid for but we need copy of your bank card and id . When i asked why when all was paid she said incase you damage the room. Was late so ordered food was supposed to be fish and chips. What was delivered had never seen the sea . Room was noisy from other guests. Insects crawing around bathroom Kettle didnt work. Glad it was a quick overnight and left 05.30
Not so welcoming
Sorry to say but the lady on the reception wasn't very welcoming. She also wanted a lot of details from me without explaining the reasons. Would be nicer if she could be more informative otherwise you make your guests feel odd. Room was nice enough and clean. Everything worked as it should. Bathroom was the best feature with lovely shower.
OK
Rooms and hotel very nice. Staff helpful Didn't feel comfortable in public spaces
y stay at Ibis Coventry
I was disappointed because at around 07am, someone came to knock harder on the window stating that we have to leave at 12:00 while we knew it already. I couldn’t go back to sleep because of the way he was knocking.
Great place and comfortable. Clean and COVID friendly
Comfortable and clean
Comfortable room a little tatty but clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good takeaway breakfast due to COVID restrictions
Disappointed
The ibis hotel south upon my arrival looked more like a motel. The receptionist was nice and she asked weather i could pay a fee of 0.01 pound in case i would broke something, which i found very odd. The room was cold and the heating broken. The receptionist gave me a little electric heating to warm up the room but it wasn't ideal. I wasn't expected something exceptional for the price paid but as it is called hotel I expected something more.
Less than adequate
Pictures are deceiving, small rooms, low quality, location leaves much to be desired, more a truck stop than a hotel
Awful stay at Ibis Coventry South
Everything was awful (except for the takeaway breakfast).... the hand sanitiser did not work on entrance, reception all dark and dingy where the lights were all off as not serving food or drink even though they had everything laid out to accommodate social distancing. Not warned on website you would have to travel a mile down the road if you wanted anything!!! Yep the offer of 3 pizzas or a curry was not what I wanted, you get no choice at all if you have allergies or are a vegetarian. No amenities in the room even for a cup of tea, I had to go and request one. Bed was incredibly uncomfortable with tiniest mattress, may as well sleep on the floor. Oh and the toilet did not flush and needed fixing! Website showed all still okay ... it really isn't!! Reception area was filthy, car park to cross over to rooms was filthy with rubbish strewn everywhere, light on step upto level room was on was broken and steps were slippy in the wet conditions, fence was broken on the level room was on.... just everything was dreadful except for ordering breakfast which I was able to take back to the room to eat and this was in fact quite tasty.
Great for the price
Hotel was perfectly good for the price. It’s cheap and cheerful, the rooms were clean and as pictured and the staff were wonderful! But, the rooms being set across the car park from the reception and facing into a wooded area was a little off-putting at times, but that’s just my personal opinion. On a general note the hotel was a steal for the price, did everything you need from a room and was close enough to the city centre for my needs.
3 night-stay with partner - budget and comfortable
Room have clearly been updated and nice and clean - bathroom with huge walk in shower was great, although the water pressure not so great lol. Bed a bit hard but slept well enough (nice big mattress topper). Warm enough too. Couple of extra pillows were needed, but happy to oblige us. Surroundings a bit tired and unloved but no complaints about the room itself, or the staff who were accommodating, welcoming and friendly, even though not all were the regular staff but drafted in. Consequently they didn't know the area but really tried to get info for us (e.g. local restaurants etc) and happy to order cabs etc. Breakfast is the bare minimum and I wouldn't bother with it to be honest, although the coffee machine is more that adequate, for a coffee addict like me :) Location is nice and quiet too, about 10mins from Coventry itself.
You get what you pay for
Check in was pretty quick. The explanation of where our room was, wasn’t very clear. It was in a separate building across the car park, and considering it was late and dark outside a clearer explanation would have been more appreciated. We were left searching for signage in the dark. The room was ok, no frills but that’s what you pay for I guess. Very thin walls as we could hear the goings on in the room next door. TV had freeview but not all The channels. We just used this hotel as a stop off on the way to our main destination So didn’t expect much for the price we paid. Covid secure at reception with screens up and signage everywhere.
internet connection was rubbish
Firstly, the place of hotel was an end of the road, but the road was blocked and couldn't through with car. Called to hotel for directions but no one answered. When we arrived 3 people were in reception(maybe it was a bad timing to call). The worst problem was an internet connection. We had to connect to the internet like a 15min each, again and again. The room's smell was weird, but that's ok.
Short stay.
Better than some other hotels that I have stayed at in Coventry. Only let down was TV reception was poor. Other than that, the stay was okay.
Great stay
Lovely staff, very helpful. Breakfast was very good. Do feel the postcode and directions on the Website need updating as had great difficultly finding the hotel and there was no answer when I tried to call because I was lost.
Okay hotel for travelling through
Remote hotel in Coventry, perfect for a stopover on a long car journey but in remote area. Staff excellent but room condition okay. Breakfast was fine, nothing special.
The toilet did not flush In room 12 and the outside lights are full on all night shining through the curtains Lots of people were complaining about the outside lights like flood light Why could they not be on sensors so as you walk towards them they come on such a waste of electricity
Simple, service could be better
A simple place to stay - overall not bad, but frustrating when you’re in a twin room with dual occupancy & you have to ask for a second set of towels every day...
Relaxing stay, my only issue is nothing was in the hotel such as toiletries as we had forgot to pack them for the night such as toothpaste, soap. And it was cold in the room.
Don’t judge a book by its cover
Firstly don’t use the postcode it doesn’t take you to the hotel! It takes you to the other side of the road where the hotel isn’t accessible from. Apart from that I was pleasantly surprised! My first impression was a little sceptical it looks like an American style motel but as soon as you open the door it looks like it has been recently refurbished and the room was quite nice. The room was clean and had everything needed for a nights stay. I was on the ground floor facing the car park but I didn’t find it noisy at all. The staff were friendly at in check in and out This was a nice little hotel for a quick stop over
Rather tired looking hotel but for the price quite acceptable. I didn’t have the breakfast but the reception/bar area smelt like a chip shop.
Toilet flush extremely difficult, needs patience.Quiet place , good night sleep.
We hadn't expected to find ourselves in a 50's style motel - it had a certain charm! We had to get moved out of the 1st room we were put in because the TV wasn't working - they seemed slightly surprised that we cared either way.
Ideal for my work. Quiet and comfortable Easy parking
Very nice for the stars it has been awarded.. Very clean
arrived to be told they had overbooked and would move me to another hotel, it might have been nice if they had checked out the other hotel, a nightmare - THANKYOU IBIS very poor
Noticed the decor had been recently changed which was nice to see. The shower was not powerful enough & you can hear everything that was happening next door hahahaha
BOOK AT YOUR PERIL
Booked a twin room for 1 adult and 1 teenager to include breakfast but was told when we arrived that we would have to pay for breakfast for my daughter as it was hotel policy that they only include adults for breakfast !!!!!!! and the room I booked had a maximum occupancy of one !!!!!!! Hotels.com have been very unhelpful with this incident
A good basic well priced place to stay.
Good hotel but badly managed
I had a very enjoyable stay the only the things I didn't like was the fact the breakfast in the morning is a rip off even if you want just a bacon and egg sandwich you pay the same price as you would for a full breakfast. Restaurant menu food is well over priced and the fact the 24/7 menu isn't actually available 24hours a day 7 days a week to me that's despiteing the title of the menu and I wasn't happy I couldn't order something at a time in the morning. I also didn't like the pillows as they are so uncomfortable.
Nice and quite
Review
On arrival the hotel reception is located separately from the rooms which is across a car park. Staff were friendly. The room I had was next to the stair way which was concrete! I could hear every footstep and case going up and down not ideal. The room itself was clean and tidy.
Advisory at the website re postcode please
Very quiet location in the woods. Difficult to locate using the post code provided at the website. As the entrance for this post code is actually blocked. For other customers staying at this hotel might as well use the jaguar Land Rover place in Whitley Coventry and it saves the hassle of having to hunt for this ibis.
Ok
The grout in between the tiles in the shower area was black with mould and not clean
Very pleased with stay nice the bar and restaurant were near
£60 fine for parking. Never again. This is a disgraceful way to treat guests.
Quiet location friendly staff and modern looking rooms
ANPR Camera charging a MINIMUM parking fee of £1.00 on arrival up to 1 hour. Demanded a £100.00 deposit (50.00 per room) for wanting to pay in cash even after offering to give my credit card details. Staff were quick to team up against me. So I cancelled my reservations & left without further ado.
Very clean Hotel , easy to find , right next to David Lloyd , nice staff and the double bed was perfect.
postcode in satnav did not take us directly to property , should put in david llyod club postcode to get you there safely
Amazing hotel, friendly staff, absolutely perfect :)
Our room was clean and warm, breakfast was spot on and we received excellent customer service
Only stayed for a very brief last minute night stop. Staff on duty very pleasant and helpful. Room was newly renovated so was in great condition. Very comfortable bed. Renovation work obviously going on but no work going on through the night so no issues there. A very pleasant stay, our first at an Ibis so will definitely consider this brand in the future.
Don’t bother
Just awful
Man in a van
Good sleep room 121 ok just needed heater on food good choice staff very helpful
Fine for a night
Room itself nice except bug gap under door so very noisy. Breakfast was cold
Very poor hotel
Sat Nav takes you to the wrong side of a set of bollards - so cannot reach hotel. Detour is at least a mile. No hotel signage. Lights in car park not working. Lights outside room not working. Unlit pathways. Damaged bath. The room stank of air freshener. The hotel needs raising to the ground. Definitely not worth £80. Premeir Inn for me next time - every time.
American style motel
Everything ok but room walks out onto cold dark outside walkway. Needs extra lighting and visible staff to feel safe.
The location is nice and quiet. Easy assess to the city center. What i didn't like was the toilet. I had to flush so many time to get the toilet bowel clean.
Needle n a haystack
Impossible to find unless you ask locals. No signage. SAT VAV found it but in an inaccessible place requiring numerous detours. Arrived exhausted and late, very very late for appointments. Cold breakfast. Pay a little more for your hotel because here, you get what you pay for ---- not much.
Dirty rooms
Just very dirty the carpet was just filthy, got there late after midnight,
Good for the price
We paid £50 for bed and breakfast for two. Bearing that in mind the hotel was fairly good. Room was clean and had all the usual facilities. The carpet was crying out for a very good clean. Breakfast was fairly good, but they would not cater for my wife, who is coeliac. They did not reply to my email asking about a gluten-free breakfast. A rating of fair to good.
Hidden costs
Disappointed I got hit for a further £20 for having 2 cats stay in my room for an overnight stay of 12 hours in this cat friendly hotel. Wasn't made clear on the website. For the additional cost, I think I could have found better accommodation.
Convienient
All convienient location and ammenities food at hotel and parking.

I’ve stayed in better for the same cost.
Mixed feelings about this stay. The inside of my room was clean and modern, obviously recently redone. The outside is a state; security lights hanging off the wall and tatty and actually it doesn’t feel all that safe walking around in the dark. I don’t know why they put solo female travellers as far away from reception as possible. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as I had hoped and noise travels between rooms. The seal around the main door (which goes straight outside) was rubbish and there was a cold breeze all night. In summary you probably get what you pay for but I’d call this the all fur no pants of hotel stays. I have definitely stayed in better hotels for the same room rate.
