I stayed 2 nights. It is basic accommodation consistent with a 2 star hotel but very clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff were wonderful and really helpful.

It’s so close to the central station, there’s a lot of dining options in the area, and there’s also a tram that pass by. Very accessible to a lot of places.

Ideally situated (for us at least) by the main station but still within walking distance to the main town. Staff were very friendly (and very patient in putting up with my attempt to try German!). First time in an Ibis and would definitely try one again based on our experience in Basel. No kettle in the room which was a shame but seemed to be the standard in Switzerland based on our other hotel stays!

Nice place, some room for improvement

Very nice and clean place. Unfortunately, the pillows were very uncomfortable for me and the hotel didn’t have other types. Also, the breakfast could have a bit more variety to chose from.

Met my expectations, clean, cozy place for an urban stay, minimalistic but comfortable.

Everything was lovely, we enjoyed our stay.

The staff was eager to help with directions to things we wanted to get to. Location was very close to trams to get to anywhere. The train station and bus station were very close. Don't plan on doing your laundry in this city. There is only one laundromat and we couldn't get it to work, nor was there anyone to ask. This is a great city to visit. The river and the things around it were amazing. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Good services but average facilities

It was not so good in comparison to ibis in other counties or location. There was no complementary water bottle or even coffee maker. I was very very surprised.

One night in Basel

Very convenient hotel location to the train station. Just about a five minute walk. Room was very basic and snug. There was no safe, fridge, or tea/coffee for the room. Only two towels were provided in the bathroom.

Christmas Break

A five night stay at Basel covering Christmas using this hotel as a central point for a few trips to locations such as Waldshut, Interlaken and the Rigi.

Rude

Very rude people, specially Danielle, she is so cheap, she charged me 9€ for marmalade for my breakfast bread. Never coming back here, there are much better places to stay.

A Few Days Away

This hotel is really convenient for the main railway station (SBB and SNCF). After a day exploring the city and surrounding area the bar offers a selection of drinks and snacks before ascending to your room. This was most welcome during this particular stay as there was an unexpected mini heatwave!

Easy access from train stationp

The room had plenty of space, very clean, and I enjoyed using the balcony in the evenings. The balcony afforded me the pleasure of people-watching.

The property is at a walkable distance from Basel Bahnhof. The staff was very helpful. The property was very clean. They provided local transportation tickets, which was a surprise for us. Overall we loved the stay.

Good location within walking distance of the riverside area. Hotel does have parking but there are two issues to beware of. Firstly there are no directions to the entrance or instructions about how to enter. Also the entrance is very very steep and cars with limited ground clearance will not safely exit without grounding !!!

An enjoyable stay enhaced by a friendly reception

We arrived early hoping to check in our bags. Instead the reception manager arranged an early check in, provided tourist information and a Basel Card which gave us free transport and a 50% reduction at tourist attractions. In all this saved us a great deal and assisted us enjoying the tourist sites. The room was very comfortable and located close to the station. I regret that I did not catch the reception manager name so I coud thank him properly but will describe him as a sports lover.

Clean room. Great shower and bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Tram stop outside taking you right into the old town. Very close to the SBB too. Market food hall close by offering great food. Would have liked tea making facilities but understand you can have that with a premium room. No drama.

Excellent location for a stay in Basel

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast delicious. The hotel is walkable to the main sites, but with the Basel card issued free to those staying in city hotels, use of the trams and buses is free. Being right next to the station day trips out to other locations, eg lausanne are easily possible, or onward travel by train.

Weekend Away

Convenient for the main railway station and provider of a handy breakfast should it be required.

Ibis Basel Bahnhof is not surprisingly close to the train station and very convenient.

Only a few paid, on-site parking spots available, but get in by early afternoon and stay in is recommended. Hotel provided bus/tram passes for each day of my stay. Awesome! Super convenient location. I'll stay here anytime I visit Basel.

A little loud

It was a little old. The water in the shower kept going hot and cold. The reception lady during checkin was a little rude. Our room was facing the main street so it was extremely loud. We could hear the trams and people shouting on the streets. Other than that it was alright. The location was convenient.

The hotel was few minutes walking to train station. The breakfast was good.

There was no shampoo/conditioner in room . we had to have three tries before a working door key was created.

Right so the hotel per se was brilliant. Clean,safe and secure. Room very comfy and spacious enough for 2 people. Nice clean bathroom and shower was brilliant. Friendly and helpful staff. Well located and to our surprise it included a basel cars for each of us, to use all transport and get 50% off of various attractions and places of interest. Has got tram stations within 15 meters of its entrance that take you straight into old town. 6 mins walk to basel banhof sbb and still very quiet. So nicely located for whatever you may need. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? Drawbacks... plug sockets to charge mobiles were too far away from the bed and does not have usb sockets to charge ... it would have been nice if the tv had been a smart tv to be able to use netflix or so. and as well does not have coffee or tea facilities within the room, so rather frustrating. although yes it has a restaurant/ cafe downstairs but still Has got good internet service and the little terrace and cafe/restaurant was good. If we were to come back to basel defo would use again and would recommend for others to use this hotel. Very pleased with our choice for a holiday in one of the most beautiful but expensive cities we have been.

Perfect for short stay - Close to basel central station and proximity to everything. Also with free basel card which is always useful. Wifi is good but there was little bit clogged in the shower.

Pleasant stay at the ibis Basel Bahnhof. Lovely staff, close to Bahnhof. Rooms were very clean though had limited toiletries. There was construction being done on a building next door but we heard nothing.

Location worked out great

The hotel staff was very helpful and service oriented. The location was good for us since we were traveling by train and it was 2 blocks from the central station. Because our room was on the 1st floor and in the front we heard the noise of people standing outside the front entrance. This is the 2nd Ibis hotel we stayed at during this trip and have found they are very stingy with their towels. If you have two people you get two bath towels no hand towels are available at either Ibis hotel.

This was our first time staying at an ibis property. It was convenient to the train station and very clean. The addition of the food and bar downstairs was welcome after a lot my day of travel and an early am flight.

Sunny Basel

This hotel is extremely convenient for the main railway station at Basel as it is comfortable walking distance from the main concourse and, should you be laden down with suitcases, handy for tram routes 2 or 16. The double rooms are of reasonable size, breakfast is good value for money, the bar offers at least one local Ueli bier and the staff are friendly.

I would recommend

In general it was all good. We arrived a bit earlier and our room was ready, which we really appreciated. If I had to be picky, I would say some extra towels would have been good (we had 2 large ones but I would have preferred to have some extra for the hair, etc.). But overall we were happy and would recommend to stay here.

End of EuroVelo6 cycling holiday

We completed the EuroVelo6 cycle route from Orleans and found the reception staff and accommodation very comfortable. The location of the hotel is close to the SNCF railway station and to the rest of the city. Local resturants and bars are good with vegetarian menus

Good location

Stayed three nights here after arriving by train. The location is perfect for train travel but be aware you will hear the trains occasionally from the hotel. Also next door is a building site so a little noise from that. That said we cannot fault the service from the staff at reception, check in was easy. We did pay for an upgrade when offerred a balcony but this wasn't quite what we expected as all it is is a narrow area with no furniture or anything. The room was comfortable enough and spacious. Comfy bed and good internet. There are a few channels on the TV in English. The bathroom is small but clean and modern. We did not eat in the hotel but found plenty of restuarants within 5 minutes walk and a large co op supermarket. Another bonus is the Basel Card which you receive on checkin, provides free public transport and right on your doorstep is a tram stop. Would recommend the hotel.

Staff was efficient and helpful. The hotel offered a coupon for free transit while we were there. Great savings. This hotel is right on the transit line and it was very easy to get around town.

Ibis Surprise

Check-in was kind of sloppy. Individual did not mention nor provide me with free transportation pass until I brought it up. I had learnt about benefit from casual conversation with a local store clerk. Queen sized bed was two twin beds put together. It separated apart during my sleep.

Short walk from the train station and handy to get into the old town via free tram. Initially thought it would be noisy due to the hotel being on the corner of 2 main roads but, with the windows shut , it was no problem. Very comfortable bed. Excellently equipped bathroom. Despite no kettle in the room, facilities downstairs in reception offered snacks and a good selection of drinks. Breakfast was excellent - everything from a boiled egg to waffles, Would definitely stay in an Ibis again.

Clean spacious room. Comfortable beds, good selection for breakfast. Oddly, my plug adapters did not fit sockets here, (they did in Strasbourg & elsewhere in Switzerland), but was offered an adaptor for a CHF20 refundable deposit from helpful reception staff.

Great value for money, & convenient

We stayed here for a 3-night Basel city break, ostensibly for the Xmas Markets. We didn't eat in the hotel, so can't comment on the cuisine. Staff were very helpful. We were provided with a free travel pass and travel adaptor on arrival. The hotel is a few hundred metres from the station and for routes down to the town centre. The zoo is also only a few hundred metres further. The Number 16 tram stops outside the hotel, and goes quickly to the town centre. We easily went to St Louis (France) by tram 16 then tram 11. We went to Germany by tram 16 then tram 8. Much better prices in shops in both. Enjoyed half-day in zoo. Nice museums & other buildings. had trip across river on eccentric boat. Enjoyed numerous visits to the 2 principal xmas markets.

Walk to Basel Train Station, <20 mins to airport

This hotel couldn't be faulted, it ticked all the boxes. Staff were friendly and helpful (free city travel pass was a bonus!), room and surrounds were all very clean and modern. Overall, this hotel was conveniently located and comfortable, perfect for a weekend stay in winter.

This is a good hotel, which is what you'd expect from a hotel of his caliber. The staff was nice and attentive, and everything was clean and well kept. It is close to the train station, so if you have bags/suitcases, you can walk there without much difficulty. There is also a tram stop outside where you can catch a tram that will take you to and from the old town area in a few minutes. The downside is that there is quite a bit of street noise if you have a room facing that street. I was also a bit disappointed that, despite the pictures and prior reviews, there were no waffles on offer during the breakfast--I was looking forward to a change from the standard buffet breakfast of eggs, sausage/bacon, beans, and pastries, but it was not to be.

Great value hotel

Nice clean rooms within walking distance to the SBB train station. A short walk to Basel old town. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. No frills but a nice place to stay in Basel.

Great location for Station, City & Airport access.

No housekeeping

We left the no distribute sign for 2 days and the housekeeping did not make up the room for 2 days until we asked at night, and no soap left, no refill. However, location was excellent, 5 minutes to train station and coop supermarket, tram outside to downtown, 10 min ride away. 20 franc per day parking was stiff though.

Very well located, with good transport links into the city and beyond. (Near the airport bus drop-off, near trams to the city centre and next to one of the main line train stations.) Perfect location for the railway station.

Perfect location next to the main railway station. Plenty of trams stop outside the hotel to the main center or it's a five minute walk. Main complaint about the hotel was that it was too hot and we couldn't leave the window open as our room was right above the tram stop. Also there was no facilities for making a drink in the room. Kettle would have been nice.

Excellent value

Hotel is about 300-400 meters to the right of the back exit from the Main Train Station (Basel SBB). It is not marked from that route. Sign is around the corner and on the ground. Back of the station is where Media Markt sign is. Excellent staff, breakfast has good variety and quality, WIFI is a bit slow, and room is a bit tight, but that is what you expect with Ibis. Would definitely use the hotel again.
