I had to cancel my stay due to sudden medical emergency. My son called but were told to call the third party vendor Expedia. Unable to reach them.

There were a few small roaches. The carpets were filthy. Wall sockets were dusty/ dirty.

This hotel should not be opened, and it needs to be removed from hotels.com website. Cockroaches, unsanitary, dirty and just gross.

This property is old, yet clean. Little dingy. AC didn't function to it's capacity so it was discomforting. Even though we were only there for 6 hours (arrived at 5am and checked out by 11am), we managed to rest. Staff were nice.

Had roaches in the fridge old chicken in the freezer and food dirty fridge also big cigarette burn holes in the covers stank really bad the list goes on and on

The lady at the counter was nice. She checked us and quickly. Upon getting into our room we found roaches and a bee. The whole room needed an upgrade fixtures were falling internet didn't work very good. Well we got what we paid for.

granular bars only breakfast

I chose the place because it says "breakfast" is included. But they only have coffee, juice and one kind of granular bars! What a joke!

It was nice to find an affordable room for one night on short notice through the app. It was also nice to have the reservation correct and available upon arrival. While checking out just before 11am it was nice to have complimentary coffee since the room price includes a continental breakfast but, apparently, not after 10am. Approximately 8 hours after check out, the realization that an item had been left behind generated a phone call. The manager seemed quite ambivalent stating that the item had likely been recycled. What?!?! That response was not only shocking, it is also unacceptable. We shall see if this manager has any idea how to manage his housekeeping staff or how to provide good customer service.

Property rooms are not well cleaned, there was hair in shower. Ants crawling on the wall. Previous guest items were still in the room. Carpet has not been cleaned or vacuumed.

I am not sure why Orbitz would have people give this place a 4 or 5 star. This place was dirty, nasty and smelly. There were holes in the walls, tiles were missing, microwave was dirty and so was the fridge. I would not recommend anyone to stay there. Oh, they do not have breakfast the way their website shows.

They took our wet towels and did not bring any also there’s no room to drink coffee they offer you pieces of bread warm coffee and juice they do not clean your room or take your trash there is no Kleenex no coffee makers and not enough soap shampoo toilet paper.

NASTY ROOM LIKE A CRACK DEM

THIS WAS HANDS DOWN THE WORST HOTEL IVE EVER VISITED. COMPLETELY UNSATISFACTORY FROM THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SITUATIONS IN THE ROOMS NEXT DOOR AND DOWN STAIRS TO ROOM AC SMELLING LIKE THE URINAL IN A BAR. THE LEAKING SHOWER AND RUSTED TUB. SPIDERWEBS IN THE BEDROOM A TV THAT WOULDNT CHANGE CHANNELS. DIRTY BED SHEETS AND TOWELS JUST NASTY.

Nice Hotel but breakfast is not included.

Need it a rest on a road trip and all nice hotels were booked so I had to look for other options. The hotel is located in a historical neighborhood very close to the street shopping. Safe area and the hotel room was very clean and smell clean. The furniture seemed new. Very safe location to travel with family or by yourself. The only thing is that breakfast is NOT provided eventhough it says so when you are booking. Close to the convention center and downtown area.

Front desk lady done her job

Well for one thing when i got there to the room It wasn’t so clean to me. It had a bad odor and i told the lady at the front desk about it she moved me to a better smelling room. So after that all was good

It is what it is for the price point. Room was clean. I reserved a king bed, but they put us in a double and was charged the same price as king room. Don't expect much for the "breakfast". It was a couple of muffins cut up into quarters.

Very convenient to downtown Lake Charles. Property has been nicely renovated since the 2020 hurricanes. No frills, but for the price it is a good choice for an overnight stay!

Five star Howard Johnson Lake Charles LA

The staff at this Howard Johnson hotel was spectacular, so friendly and helpful they made our stay absolutely delightful. The room was clean comfortable and newly renovated, beds were great, slept well. They get five stars from us!

When we checked into the room there was trash left in the sink and food left in the fridge.

It was disgusting to say the least. There was trash in the bathroom garbage, hair in the shower, toenail clippings on the carpet, something shives in the door peephole, kids found beads by the bed on the floor- if it wasnt late and I had kids falling asleep I would have left. We didnt shower or walk barefoot anywhere in the room. No wifi or breakfast as stated. Broken juice machine and a pot of coffee was all that was 'offered'. The perk was that the a.c. worked atleast and we had our own pillows and blankets as i didnt trust much to be clean after what we saw. I knew it was an inexpensive hotel but expected more from any hotel by wyndam.

Roach motel

This was the worst motel ive ever stayed in, i would rather sleep in my car that to stay at this hotel again, the room was full of roaches so many i took pictures, i tried to contact the front desk no answer i walked to the front and rang the bell for service no one came to assist me

Lower your expectations, bring cash & slippers

Nothing at booking said to bring a cash deposit. It seemed super sketchy when they asked for one and insisted it had to be $60 cash. They have the office lock and the lady spoke through a plexiglass window making it hard to even understand with her accent. I had traveled 5 hours to an unfamiliar place with my baby through the night to say a final goodbye to my Grandma in a nearby hospital. Otherwise, I'd of just gone elsewhere. Thankfully a family member lent me the cash, but I can't express how irritating this was. The carpet in the room was so nasty my baby's feet and hands were turned black after setting him down for maybe 15-20 minutes while I got ready. We spent less than 9 hours in the hotel total. It was just to have a place to sleep and break from a long trip. Online also said there was a free breakfast. This was part of why I chose this hotel over another option. There was no breakfast. Not what I expected at all.

Bed was not good, didn’t get any room service and trash was not taken out.

My stay at the hotel was okay, just ticked off because I booked and paid for two rooms. According to the desk clerk, Expedia on paid them for one room, I had t pay out my pocket for a room that was already paid for. My confirmation I printed out and give to the clerk was meaningless to her. About two hours later after checking in, she calls me and wants to know when I would be arriving to check in, told her that she just checked me in. Grrrr

Persons was nice.

Free breakfast was supposed to be included. Door was locked and no breakfast. I saw a orange juice machine through the window with an out of order sign and that was it. Property not as nice in person as it looked in pictures.

Ok place to sleep for the night

Not in the best neighborhood, motel wasn't the cleanest, but it is fine for a cheap hotel. Nothing for breakfast but coffee, nothing special, but everything is just fine.

The place is nice and somewhat clean the disappointment was the mattress you can hear and feel all the springs .

Downtown Lake Charles

A recently renovated motor hotel situated in eclectic and historic Lake Charles, Louisiana, this is modern and inviting outside but still dated inside the room. The room has several updates including a bar refrigerator and card key access but the furniture and arrangement of same is peculiar as though put together with pieces from different eras and styles. The bathroom is very small and has a very small counter and features a in wall fan from the 1960s that did not operate. There was; however, plenty of hot water which arrived on demand. No breakfast was available and service was nearly non-existent. Other guests were outside and quite loud until past midnight. In my room there was no closet but four large holes in the wall, recently and poorly patched, where one had been. It appeared the room updates had been done poorly and unprofessionally.

We only had 3 towels for 4 people. When we asked for more we were given attitude. Next morning we find one of the towels dirty! Also, room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. We opened a drawer to put our stuff in it and it had trash and in there.

Just passing through

Neutral, comfortable enough. No bells or whistles. The towels were clean, but old and thin. Toiletries were limited (no conditioner, mouth wash, lotion, etc.)

Ok for 1 night

Idid not like having to syand in the cold to check in. One person training someone the something was not right the manager had to come in and fix it all while im standing outside in the cold.

Paper thin walls.

Walls are paper thin. Neighbors had a dog barking constantly for over an hour at 3 am. At 7 am other neighbors with kids loud and yelling … don’t expect much sleep unless you are secluded. Also I would request a room away from street as you can hear each car pass by. Room was sufficiently clean. Sink and vanity oddly placed in middle of bathroom.

It was an older hotel, but it was cozy and easy access to the casino.

Less expensive alternative to hotel/casinos nearby

About what we expected. The room was clean and beds comfortable. It was just a place to spend the night without over-paying at the hotel/casinos. No breakfast due to covid which was not disclosed on the hotels.com website. Worked out as we found a great place to eat at Coffee-30.

Ok for a quick stop

Clean and quiet. I would have liked more than two bath towels for two people. Breakfast was advertised but not available due to COVID- no other hotel on our trip withheld this service - especially with what looked to be self serve.

Travelers be aware, pictures do not represent actual state of hotel. Neighborhood is run down rooms are old, smelly and dirty. Not good.

The room was small. The bath tub was not totally cleaned. The carpet needed shampooing.

Bed was good the room looked to be updated. Bathroom was ok not super clean just dated. We couldnt sleep b/c most of the guests seemed to be living there for work and would wake up and leave from 5 am till 630 am and were super loud and you can here everything in the parking lot and walls are thin.

Property had no breakfast yet on line they said they had it. Next door neighbors were noisy amd were drinking.

Arrived after the noon hour to a vacant parking lot. Had to stand outside ( 98 degrees) on the driveway entrance, ring the management to check in. Checked in through and behind a plexi-glass opening standing in the heat. Left to visit a local Casino and dinner, arrived in the evening to a jam-packed parking lot full of construction workers, leaning over the balconies, in and around cars and trucks, smoking whatever, drinking beer, and staring us down, as we found the one and only available parking space. Overall the place was run down, I saw dead roaches between the drapes and windows in several rooms. The courtesy (Laundry room/ice machine) was very unkept, and full of flies. Our room was OK, but, would never stay there again, nor recommend it to any traveler, unless you're on a construction crew. Very dissapointing to say the least !!!

Not worth the money

I will never in life stay at this motel again. I felt so uncomfortable, I took a shower and left; hadn't been in the room for even an hour. There were men hanging out on the balcony (in front of my room), drinking and talking loud. I lost out on $143.00, because i refused to be scared and uncomfortable til the next day, and couldnt get a refund. I ended paying another $100 to get another room somewhere else.

It was quiet i booked for 2 nights and ended up staying an extra night and had to ask for towels everyday when i asked for extra in my reservation

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I REPEAT!!! DO NOT STAY HERE.. HISTORIC IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!! AS WELL AS NOT UP TO CODE!! ROACHES, MOLD EVERYWHERE, HUGE CRACKS IN SINK AND TUB , HOLES AND CRACKS WALLS.. SMELLS HORRIBLE MY FAMILY AND I and Friends were terrified as we arrived at 1150pm (before midnight) for quick rest and saw that what was in the pictures online FALSE PICTURES!!! IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT YOU SEE IN PICTURES.. TRUST ME, YOU WILL SEE ANOTHER REVIEW WITH PICTURES FROM MY FRIENDS ROOM... ITS NOT SAFE , NOT HEALTHY AND ALL LIES!!!! WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK WE WILL BE TAKING THIS HIGHER UP!!!!

Howard Johnson's Historic Lake Charles - Historic is correct, should be condemned. The room was horrible, the carpet was filthy, the fan in the bathroom hasn't been cleaned since the place was built. Zero upgrades since it was built... This place was off the beaten path and coat $149 a night - ridiculously overpriced...

Cockroaches in our room. Commode leaked constantly. The room stunk.

The room smelled like urine, the sidewalks and stairs were dirty, the door knob was falling off, and there was a Iive spider in one of the beds.
