We highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very welcoming and helpful to us especially because our command of French is very limited. The room was charming and very comfortable, very clean and quiet. The breakfast included was perfect and made the mornings start just right. The hotel is located in a perfect area for taking advantage of great food, wonderful museums, shopping and the metro/tram is very close. If we are ever to return to Lyon, this will be our top choice in hotels. Merci beaucoup Hoteleo Charite!

A simple hotel at the end of the road that leads to everything. Easy walking from there. The staff were more than nice. I practiced my French but they also spoke English. For the price it was amazing. I stayed six nights.

Staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating. I had the ground floor room, which was flush with the road and sidewalk. I was concerned that it would be very noisy, but the double windows effectively eliminated the noise, and the air conditioning unit meant that the room didn’t get stuffy with the windows closed. Lovely continental breakfast in the little ground floor nook. This isn’t the best area of town (nor is it the worst), but as it is by the train/bus station it is very convenient for those who have an early morning departure. Would recommend overall.

PROS: The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in conveniently to good restaurants and attractions. Offering parking $20/night) was convenient as well. The breakfast is typical. CONS: The pictures on-line are deceiving as areas of the hotel could use a face-lift (e.g., carpet runners are dirty, doors/walls scratched & dirty). The worse was the bathroom in our room (i.e., moldy tiles & fixtures).

The property was close to restaurants, shopping and the town. It was a busy road outside but you wouldn’t know that once inside. The breakfast was very tasty, great coffee and a good choice of breakfast items. The hotel was very stylish, I felt I had stepped back in time but with a modern twist. Great nights sleep. Parking was tight but manageable and very safe. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

A clean, warm and welcoming place

Never have we felt so welcome and at-home at a hotel as at this one. Myriam and Mathilda were warm, welcoming, pleasant, helpful in many ways, from finding us a room despite our early arrival, helping us with local sightseeing and eating options, stowing away our luggage after checkout. The room was a bit tight but well laid out and very clean. The air conditioning worked very well, a great plus since our visit coincided with an intense heat wave. The place lacked an elevator, but there was only 1 story so no big deal to walk, and Myriam had whisked our heavy suitcase up the stairs before i even realized what was happening. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Perrache train and bus station, and well within walking distance to the Vieux Lyon old city and its amazing sights. Not a luxury hotel but great value for the $. Highly recommended!

The staff is incredibly nice. You feel welcomed and good service in everything.

Room was dirty, the bathroom smelt of urine as the toilet seat was wood and rotting. The tiles in the shower were full of mold. The room smelt. The only positives where the staff were friendly and helpful and the location is good.

Great short stay in Lyon

I came in for one night for a personal event, and I booked this hotel for the first time. Its a lovely place, situated so nicely in central Lyon with super easy access to Metro, Tram and train station. They have done a great job in renovation, keeping the old world charm with new amenities. The staff is super friendly, speaks English very well, know the city and are very helpful. The breakfast is lovely and for a nice stay in Lyon this is a great choice hotel. The only thing is that there is no elevator so you have to carry your suitcase upstairs. But the staircase is wide and not steep.

Comfortable hotel for short stay

I recently stayed at Hotelo for a short visit. The staff was polite and welcoming. My room, number 17, was clean and comfortable, but I did encounter a minor issue with the shower enclosure. The door didn’t fully close due to a problem with the rubber seal, causing water to leak into the bathroom and make it a bit messy. Despite this, my overall experience was positive, and the hotel is a good option for a brief stay.

Overall, the hotel was conveniently close to Perrache station, as well as various places to eat. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I would stay here again, but there are one or two things I would note: 1. Breakfast was ok, but didn't think was that great. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby I would recommend more highly. 2. There is no elevator. The stairs aren't too bad, but a little steep. 3. The staff were friendly, but not all the staff spoke English that well, but did try to understand. So the use of translation apps would be useful.

This was a quick stop over from Marseille to Strasburg, Hotelo and Lyon did not disappoint! The staff was so kind and helpful and the hotel was charming and wonderful! Brasserie Georges was recommended for dinner - 5 min walk at the most, amazing food and atmosphere, look it up. Historical place, packed and wonderful! Place Bellecour, main square was a 15 min EASY walk through a shaded park with tons of shopping and food options along the way. We are traveling with my 80 yr old a parent and 2 teen girls and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Would LOVE to visit Lyon again…someday!

Friendly staff, great spot for Xmas markets

A perfect spot for the christmas markets - 3 min walk round the corner. Easy walk to the river and across the bridge to the old town. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The rooms were very basic but comfortable. Would recommend and would stay again

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. While the accommodations were very simple, we enjoyed the warm welcome, and the abundance of information provided. The breakfast was perfect - fresh baked goods, and a few other options. We took the on-site parking, which we had to book ahead of time. The owner/operator kindly offered to park our car for us, and we recommend taking advantage of this service, as the parking is quite compact. We will definitely be back.

Excellent good value private hotel

Very friendly, professional and correct. Good location convenient for Confluence, Vieux Lyon, Rhône. Good continental breakfast. Much better than an alternative hotel nearby where I also stayed.

I enjoyed the location of the hotel. The owners were extremely friendly and interested in assisting their guests. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was generous with lots of variety. It's a wonderful change to meet the owners of the property and have a low key and enjoyable stay.

Warm reception

Personnel at the reception were all very friendly and hospitable. The room was spacious and comfortable. It’s just 3-5 minute walk to la Gare de Lyon Perrache, making it very easy to visit various part of Lyon. I went watching a movie and returned by tram around 10:30 pm; the area felt safe walking back from the station at the time.

Good value hotel

The hotel manager was very welcoming and helpful when we asked for recommendations for places to eat. The hotel was within walking distance of all the main attractions. The air con in the rooms was most welcome as it was very hot when we were there. The rooms were comfortable, but compact. The breakfast was good. I was travelling with a group of friends and we enjoyed our stay here.We thought the hotel was very good value for money.

The lady who checked us in was wonderful. Sorry I forgot her name. She wired glasses. When we needed a lamp. She said no problem. She bought over not one but two lamps. We needed an alarm clock. She got it for us. The owner Olivier was great . He was so helpful. We had problems with air conditioning. Olivier said no problem. It got fixed. The room #3 has high ceiling. The room was next to tram but I didn’t hear any noise at all. The location is perfect. There are plenty of restaurants. All in all an excellent place to stay.

The hotel was conveniently located near the train station but is away from the more tourist areas. It was a 15 min walk which was not a problem for us. Our room was small but functional for 2 people. It was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful especially Olivier.

Best bang for the money

Hotel deserves more than 2 stars. Extremely clean, well laid out. Great breakfast in the morning and the price vs quality was awesome. Staff made a huge difference. Little actions like leaving a welcoming post card on bed, taking the time to explain on the map the best places to see or of interests that may not be in the tourism books, best restaurants and shops. Double bed was comfortable and pillow awesome. Made for a fantastic holidays.

Great value, well located, helpful staff

We stayed here for three days at the end of September, and we were amazed at the value. It’s close enough to everything that we could walk, and very close to the train station. It’s on a busy street but there was no noise apparent in the room except when we opened the window. The lobby and the room are bright, cheerful and very clean. The staff is exceptionally helpful and cheerful. I found the bed to be a little uncomfortable for my bad back, but my two companions had no trouble sleeping comfortably.

Good location generally for visiting Lyon based on the price point. We initially didn’t realize it was near a different rail station then we needed but the tram took us there easily enough.

The staff was not helpful, didn't have a place to park our car and we had to go 2 towns north to find a hotel room. When asked about a refund, he said that he couldn't do it, that I needed to get in touch with Orbitz, then Orbitz said they couldn't do it either. So, I wasted money and our time. I would never go back there.

Lovely stay

I stayed for two nights while i had a job in Lyon which this was perfect for The staff were excellent,very helpfull friendly and speak very good english Hotel is easy walk to the old town and very close to subway trains etc Will be going back again.....

Our stay at Hotelo was wonderful. They were so friendly and welcoming, and so good with our two children, 3 and 6. A lovely room, just the right size, a delicious and relaxed breakfast, and a very convenient location. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant experience

The owner was extremely helpful and very informative about the area. There were heaps of places to visit and restaurants to eat at within 15 minutes walking distance. Room was simple but comfortable.

Friendly, welcoming & conveniently located hotel

As a family of four, we stayed in the family room for four nights. It was such a welcoming hotel and Delphine was so brilliant with our little ones and helpful with our requests. The convenience of a well located hotel with parking spaces to hire and such friendly staff made our trip to Lyon super easy. Beds were comfy and breakfast was good. The family room is very snug and tight with not much room after beds. That said, we would definitely not hesitate to recommend Hotelo to anyone staying in Lyon.

Incredible service

Great location close to the center of town with easy access to the metro and parking. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Rooms are not large but they are in line with typical European hotels. Our family of four was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Convenient value hotel

This hotel is great value for money. It is well maintained. It is at the edge of Lyon's city center with easy access to public transport. However, all of the city's key attractions are within walking distance. The owners and staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.

Friendly owner and walkable to most sites

We had a comfortable 3-night stay at Hotelo in September. The hotel's owner, Olivier, is very friendly and hands-on and gave us a great orientation upon arrival. Also, although we had not booked parking in advance, he had a space available (15 Euro per day; covered/secure) and instructed us on how to get in (if you arrive by car you'll have to pull over on the adjacent street and go into reception before getting your parking...a tram runs directly in front of the hotel's front door so no stopping there). The room was clean and basic and suited our needs...it was rather small but that's completely normal here in Europe. Despite facing the tram, the room was fairly quiet (insulated Windows) and comfortable with A/C included. Lyon is very walkable and it was a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel to the Place Bellecour. Would stay again.

Lyon Layover

Very comfortable, secure and clean with a good location near parking, shopping, restaurants and public transit. The staff was most attentive and accommodating. The room was a bit small but was alright for our one night stay. The breakfast was very good.

Great owner. Good boutique hotel.

What really sets this hotel apart was the owner, Olivier, who is very hands on and genuinely nice. His personality comes through whether you speak to him in French or English. He took over the hotel not too long ago (so ignore any old reviews) and is trying to continuously improve his guests' experience. He has an absolutely fantastic attitude which is not guaranteed elsewhere. The hotel is close to everything including a major mass transit hub to get you where you need to go in Lyon. Note: I found the Tourism Office and the City Card of great benefit to get to things to see and do in Lyon. It's a good deal.

3 nuits à Lyon

L'hôtel était dans une location idéale pour découvrir Lyon à pieds. Les transports en commun étaient juste à côte aussi. Très près des endroits touristiques ainsi que les restos et bars.

Bon séjour

Séjour de 2 nuits agréable. Le personnel est vraiment très sympathique et serviable! L'hôtel est vraiment bien situé ce qui implique aussi quelques nuisances sonores hélas, même si, gentiment, une chambre un peu en retrait m'a été attribuée suite à ma demande de chambre au calme. Le parking payant est aussi très pratique en centre ville!

Très bon accueil ! Hôtel situé dans un quartier sympa, à deux pas des bords de Saône. Chambre tout confort et calme. Literie excellente. Le service a été très appréciable (conseils pour réserver un bon resto le soir).

Hôtel 2* qui en vaut plus

Hôtel très bien placé pour visiter Lyon, accueil très chaleureux, certes certains diront que les chambres sont un peu petites mais on y va juste pour dormir 😄 Petit déjeuner copieux et toujours avec un personnel au petit soin avec les clients. Pleins de bon conseil pour vous aider à passer de bonnes visitées et un excellent moment dans la ville. Une adresse que je garde pour revenir et que je partagerais avec plaisir pour être sûr de ne pas être déçu.
