This is an amazing looking property, that allegedly has 5 stars, however I would rate it as a 2 star. Reception desk was unmanned for 15 minutes at check in, then he arrived harassed, With little command of English. The room was large but tired, the bed was huge but uncomfortable with springs poking my back. The restaurant was full and couldn’t accommodate us and after travelling 1,000km from Spain we were not impressed. People in the room above us were partying until 3am. ( not the hotels fault but didn’t help) However they did provide a dog bowl for our family pooch in the room.
Why do you advertise the hotel as a 5 star hotel ?
Definitely not 5 star , nobody at the door to welcome you, there is however a receptionist who was lovely , but what can she do when working for a hotel which needs a lot of TLC and staff. It looked like the gardener had been on a long holiday , carpets were extremely dirty throughout the hotel, and although we were upgraded to a suite after complaining about our room being in an annexe and not in the main house, the state of the suite was more 3 stars than 5 stars.
Great stay , lovely hotel and service, even sharing the hotel with team lidl treck from the tour
I don't know who awards the stars but this hotel despite its many good attributes has nothing close to 5 stars by intertnational standards: Despite the hefty room rate: misleading.
Power sockets are near the floor. To use them one had to crawl about under a table. Pity as otherwise everything was wonderful.
Lovely stay at Hotel Villa Navarre
We had a lovely stay at this hotel whilst visiting Pau. Highly recommend their restaurant and the views are stunning, across the town to the Pyrennes. Short drive or few km walk into main town
Superb staff who were able to accommodate all our needs. That included finding a way to allow us to stay two additional nights in our fantastic room even though the hotel was full. The food and service in restaurant was outstanding.
Excellent location, friendly staff, very good restaurant
Disappointing for a 5 Star Hotel
The hotel looks lovely but for a 5 star hotel it desperately needs care and attention. The handle of our door came off cracks all over the room and main stairway. The room staff were poor (sugar not refilled, dirty glasses not taken away, soap not in the bathroom when we arrived. Only small things but it’s a 5 star hotel costing over £200 a night). Cannot complain about the front of house staff they’re lovely.
Beautiful Spacious Chateau - stunning views across to the pyranees Helpful friendly staff and a really nice evening meal Overall a very enjoyable stay in a wonderful location
Good get away
Great ambience, calm and good health spa. The room may need a slight modernisation but great service and atmosphere
Overall is great. But the room was very hot without air conditioning. After I opened the patio door, it was fine. But, it would be nice to have air conditioner.
A beautiful and welcoming chateau.
This was a beautiful hotel. The service was wonderful, as was the views and the grounds. We had dinner at the hotel the first night and it was very good. The hotel is walk-able to shopping areas. (About 20-30 minutes.) I would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful Chateau
Beautiful chateau nestled in a quiet part of town on a large estate. Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English as well. Would definitely come back.
Elegant and friendly
Lovely villa that was turned into a beautiful small hotel with elegant decor away from busy old town and beach. Helpful and friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Wonderful breakfast. Large public living room with fireplace.
A beautiful historic property and a young staff tres agreeable.
Classy place, but in need of a bit of a makeover
Excellent bedrooms, the spa was disappointing - small pool and poorly signed with no one manning the reception desk. Public rooms were tired and lacked atmosphere, not helped by the lack of residents using them.
Beautiful hotel with an amazing staff and excellent staff.
Stunning building, friendly staff, room spotless. Will definitely stay there again
Hotel has charm but needs refurbishment Cuisine very good
Superb Chateau
Beautiful property, and a very relaxing stay.
Really nice hotel. Excellent
Excellent location.beautiful property.very good service.nice restaurant.quiet room. Just the bathroom was too simple for a five star hotel
Immaculate Holiday
What an amazing place to stay. So central to town and the hotel itself is spectacular. The service was amazing and the staff incredibly friendly.
Charming hotel in Pau!
This is a terrific hotel within a moderate walk to a modern shopping region. The hotel main building is charming; the annex (formerly the stables) is quite adequate, but try to stay in the main building!! The only bad side--- rooms for two are furnished with only one coffee cup!?! One of the halogen lights in our bath was burned out.
A bit desapointed
All week end without Wifi ...almost 2 days without hot water...problems of water pump
Secluded yet close to downtown
The hotel was very nice--a historic building with modern amenities. The large grounds gives a feeling of serenity and seclusion, yet it is within walking distance, albeit a good hike, to downtown museums, restaurants, and other activities.
Do not expect a five star hotel
The old building is very very nice but The decoración is so poor! It has a wonderful living room. The walls all coverded in a beautiful "boisserie" however the lack of good taste is amazing. Not at all a five star hotel! Pity!
great trip
the hotel needs small repairs, but overall is a good place to stay
No way is this a 5 star hotel!
The hotel is badly run and very run down. Horrible stained carpets, wine stained bedding, empty bar fridge, empty tissue holder, damaged walls, a 2 coat hanger wardrobe, damaged bathroom vanity. Do yourself and wallet a favour and don't stay here.
Good location but Tired
Nice location, walkable to town, in a park-like setting off the main road. Hotel and rooms are worn and tired but the bed was comfy. Not many amenadies. The food was average and over priced. No one helped us carry our bag up the stairs when checking in, and they charged us $6 for a small coffee the morning we left. But the staff was very nice and helpful and they changed our room to a much nicer one when we didn't like he first one. Looking into some other rooms that were being cleaned, some had very weird layouts and seemed really old. The carpet in our room was clean but stained. Not a bad place to stay, but not what I would expect from a Relaix and Chateau hotel
Super hotel, staff and food.
We were there for one night on our way through France. We really hope to go back and stay longer
This is an excellent hotel located a little outside the city center in an nice residential area. It is an old estate converted to a hotel. Very comfortable and pleasant. The dining room is exceptional.
beautiful site outside Pau center
impressive hotel facility is on expansive manor house grounds, using original house and completely renovated out-buildings; elegant and clean; separation from town center is relaxing but requires car (or perhaps taxi) to reach town; dinner was wonderful and the staff very helpful
A hotel walking distance to Pau
This is a gorgeous hotel walking distance from Pau. Stay here if it suits your itinerary!
Oh dear...
Booked a standard room, which we thought was OK if unexciting... but we discovered it was certainly not OK after we found cockroaches in the loo and shower room when we got back from an evening out. They knew the building had a problem, and moved us quickly, even though it was midnight. However, for obvious reasons, I can not recommend.
Lovely looking hotel - shame about the management.
Our room was not ready when we arrived but were given another which was not up to standard (cous-cous in mini bar and earbuds on floor and light bulb in bathroom not working). Room was not serviced until following afternoon whilst we wanted to have a siesta. Having pre-booked a massage in the spa, I was told that because I was 10 minutes late it was cancelled. After discussion, this was retracted.
Relaxed elegance
Quiet with a sense of the country yet close and easy to get to the city - by car preferably. Lovely grounds and enjoyed the indoor heated pool and spa. Staff very welcoming. The best was enjoying a drink in the salon and then dinner by their chef Duplantier.
2-day stopover en route from Santander to Roscoff
Well positioned, on P7 bus route to town centre. Very rural feel. Reception staff speak perfect English. Nice grounds, slightly unkempt at rear. Inside pool area smart but small; outside pool out of commission. Good parking. Lovely view of mountains, some with snow. Food not far off Michelin-star standard, served by attentive and welcoming staff. Room very quiet and large (with bath, hooray, not a shower) but looking a little tired in the décor. Private patio, on which to enjoy the evening sun.
good experience
nice stay at Villa Navarre, excellent location, nice mountains view, good restaurant, room simple but fine.
Lives up to expectations
We splashed out on the suite, and it was spot on in everyway apart from the usual problem of inadequate lighting around mirrors. Excellent evening meal, sensibly priced. Clean hotel situated in pleasant grounds, helpful staff. Downside have to drive into city
Nice Hotel in pau - lovely view
Stay in hotel was lovely. Service in restaurant was excellent however from the bar was a bot slow. However overall stay in lovely surroundings was great.
Elegant and quiet
Excellent Service. Fine restaurant. Comfortable and relaxing. I will return. Unfortunately the spa was closed. It is a long walk to the middle of town.
Great hotel in quiet location...
...great hotel in very quiet location, so you need a car probably, but very nice indeed. Romantic, secluded...
Beautiful place
The hotel, rooms, staff, everything is great. I would not recommend the restaurant though: the food is good, but overpriced and quantities are so small, you can't even taste it properly.
Hotel located outside Pau but very convenient local bus service. Hotel very comfortable and peaceful. Would have liked more variety in evening dinner menu but plenty of restaurants in Pau so not a problem. Would recommend hotel for short stays.
Charming estate in Pau
Our GPS was not cooperating when we were looking for this hotel, but after stopping at another hotel for directions, we were impressed by this lovely place. It is set back from the road and is a lovely old estate with a fantastic restaurant. The rooms were nice, comfy though a bit spartan...we'd go back anytime...
Hospitalité
Excellent accueil, merci
Magnifique hôtel
Piacevole piscina a disposizione.
Terrible!!!
It’s a terrible hotel for the price they charge. We were looking forward to staying there after a long drive and chill by the pool but the pool was not available. The rooms are old and felt like they were not updated for the last fifty years. There was no air conditioning and no fans available and no net on the windows! On a hot summer day it’s impossible to sleep. We’ve asked for something, anything they can provide for mosquito protection but they had nothing. Everytime we called the reception there was no reply and when we went down to speak to her, we found out that she was washing dishes in the restaurant. All around very uncomfortable hotel. Should be zero stars!
NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!
The room would not even qualify for a 1 star motel. the advertised rooms were 'not available' to anyone. The place was filthy and the corridors to the rooms were appalling!!
The room was massive and full of charm :) The view over the pyrenees was amazing.
Super personnel. Pas mangé sur place
