Everything was excellent Specially all the people that works there I definitely recommend
The owner family and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant service and food were excellent. Parking was free. The location is wonderful on the ecean and quiet. Short trips to Pisa, Florence and Volterra. This is our third time stayng there, we liked it so much.
Fantastic room Food was excellent and staff superb Lovely setting with grounds overlooking the sea Easy access to trains to Pisa and Florence
Start of our Italian vacation
We were traveling with 11 family members Our stay here was one night. We arrived late at night but we found our check in was complete and to our satisfaction. Rooms were very clean. We would recommend any stay at this location. Breakfast was excellent in short everything was to or satisfaction.
A lovely hotel in a quiet suburban area in close proximity to the train station. Our room was clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We chose to eat in the restaurant overlooking the sea which was excellent.
Beautiful location with helpful service
What a lovely hotel with the most amazing view to the ocean! Very well taken care, the breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. It's much nicer in person than the advertising pictures. It's a perfect place to get away and relax.
Lovely stay, beautiful place, best bed in Italy!
Booked for one night, added a 2nd after checking in. From the greeting to an offer to let us select our room, the bedding (BEST bed, bedding in Italy, lovely WC) the elegance throughout & wonderful staff, cannot praise this hotel enough. Greeted with warmth as though we'd stayed a dozen times before, the staff was always smiling, saying hello. Especially want to note the owner's easy way, the young man who served at lunch but especially Elizabetta! All these things make a difference to one's experience. We were seeking a few days of quiet in a beautiful location after weeks of travel in cities across Europe. Nothing could have been better. The comfort of the room, the pleasantness of the hotel, the beautiful surroundings - a stab in the dark that really paid off! We had lunch at their restaurant, not knowing what to expect: first rate. Shared an appetizer, two mains, one side dish, shared a dessert, bottle of wine. With views out to the water and a beautiful dining room - it was a very romantic meal! As we visited in December the pool was not heated, but they keep it sparkling clean so you still enjoy the beauty of the exterior. The hotel has ample parking for those driving but is also just a 5 minute walk from the train. We walked to the beach (easy, safe) and marina, around the cove and up on the top side of the town. Really pretty little community.
Tucked away right on the sea - great outdoor space, awesome staff, good restaurant and breakfast. Thanks!
Wonderful, beautiful property!
Amazing property, absolutely stunning. Very close to the beach you can literally walk down from the back of the hotel. FYI it is a rocky beach. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard where they serve dinner and host events. Service was incredible from the front desk to the kitchen staff to housekeeping staff. Breakfast every morning was delicious with plentiful options. Dinner was fantastic and one of the best dinners we've had in Italy. The front desk can help arrange any taxi transfers you may need, as well as potentially getting you electric bike rentals but you must give them an advance notice. My only qualm was the the shower was small for me (I'm 5'10 175 lbs) and I kept bumping into the walls/shower handle.
Charming hotel with breathtaking view
Very charming hotel with amazing views of the sea. We loved the view from our window and the walk around the property - absolutely breathtaking! The hotel is very clean, has very nice decor, the atmosphere is just lovely. The food is delicious - we had dinner and breakfast there, both amazing. The room was clean and pretty, shower and bathroom nice and modern. Really great shower! Very nice and helpful staff. Thank you for an amazing experience!
Excellent guest relations. Very happy to accommodate most requests. Wonderful food brilliant service. Would stay anytime.
A Villa at the sea
Very friendly staff… Grand atmosphere… a little old in some respects, but it is an old, characteristic Villa with beautiful location and elegant fountain and arches … we’ll return some day!
Very nice pool and lounging area right beside the ocean. Great breakfast. Wonderful helpful staff
Road Trip Shaun & Lisa 2022
Absolutely a fantastic stay. Lovely staff and owners. We really enjoyed our 4 nights stay. Rooms very good. Food really nice in the restaurant. Good location for visiting Pisa, Lucca etc
Staying at Villa Margherita was an amazing experience that exceeded our expectations. It is such a charming place situated in a great location in Livorno. The staff there are extremely friendly and helpful. We fell in love with this place!
Room with a View
Beautiful, the setting is amazing, the rooms comfortable and the restaurant meals just wonderful. From check in at the front desk to the wait staff at dinner and breakfast, everyone was friendly and accommodating. We just stopped for a night on way down southern Italy, but they were setting up for a wedding that afternoon, what an amazing venue.
Lovely spot on the water!
This hotel was magnificent - on the water but a rocky beach so not easily swimable. Great balcony off the 2nd floor where we could watch the sunset! Food at the restaurant was mixed - but nice terrace location. Room was small but comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful!
An amazing gem just south of Livorno
We had a wonderful day and evening at Villa Marguerita - the hotel was only surpassed by restaurant cuisine & service!! We enjoyed lunch so much upon arrival that we made a reservation for dinner after a wonderful afternoon enjoying the terrace grounds and pool. We had a very early ferry so we missed the breakfast included with the room. They surprised us with a breakfast to go bag! We loved our too short stay that we booked a night there when we return to Tuscany in Oct.
Very friendly staff, great restaurant
Very peaceful and pleasant stay at this family run hotel, especially compared to hotels nearby larger cities. Beautiful view of the sea to wake up to.
Amazing place with delicious food!
Amazing place with delicious food!
beautiful hotel
Such a beautiful hotel. I loved the views, the decor and simply just sitting on the patio in the morning drinking coffee. The service was very friendly, The only gripe I would have is the poor WiFi signal. I would love to stay here again with my wife for a long weekend
Good value
Family hotel great views and good value for money! No luxuries but just what you need
Nice place to stay.
Nice hotel with a nice view of the ocean. Well priced in the off season.
Upscale hotel in small town Italy
Our family of 5 stayed in a Sea side suite. There was plenty of room for all of us and our luggage. The hotel was upscale and included a wonderful hot breakfast buffet. If you are driving, there seems to be limited parking. The hotel is located in a small town with very little to do or other food options. But we did find a great cafe within walking distance with very reasonable prices. Overall for a one night stay on the Mediterranean as we were passing through to Pisa, it was a great place to relax. We would definitely stay here again if we ever came back to Italy.
A Little Gem in Livorno
Hotel Villa Margherita has the best sea views. Standing in our balcony taking in the breathtaking views of the sun sinking into the ocean was unforgettable . Loved the decor in the junior triple room. Definitely worth getting a sea facing room. The hotel has been renovated and the pool looks stunning but it was unfortunately too cold to swim. Frederique and Sylvia(don’t know if I’m spelling their names correctly) were fantastic. Frederique checked us in and was very helpful with directions to the car rental return at Pisa airport as well as everything else we asked. This is certainly the place to relax and get away from it all. One negative that I did experience was when I called the hotel the day before as a time of arrival was requested and spoke with the owner. I had booked via hotels.com and one of the reasons I had chosen this hotel was the free 2 hour early check in and free 2 hour late check out as we had a late flight. When I tried to confirm this with the owner she told me “that’s not how things work.” If you are running an establishment it is your duty to know what promotions you have running. Luckily at check in I spoke with Frederique and showed her the booking with the promotion and she said it would not be a problem. Wi Fi is non-existent. As soon as you connect, it drops out.
It was the best shower I had in all of Europe.
Restful and Relaxing
Fantastic location, close to train. Beautiful pool, terrace, and views. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Nicely updated and very clean.
Enjoy the stay here
Sept 2019: Amazing and surprise when we came to property! Beautiful, Clean, Spacious rooms! Best value for money Right on the ocean with great views! Staff are very nice and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic.
Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was amazing. The best croissants with marmalade. Pool was nice and it’s right on the beach. Town was quite and enjoyed our morning walk and coffee.
Nice hotel with a great view of the sea.
We chose this hotel to be end our stay in Italy and to give a chance the kids to play in a pool after walking miles sightseeing the previous days. They were excited to have a nice and clean room with their own beds and to be able to go down to the pool right away. It was about a 30 min. drive to the ferry but worth it. We took the ferry the next morning to Corsica.
Beautiful hotel, check in bit problematic, Took 10 minutes to find receptionist!
Charming
The hotel is a lovely old villa, a little shabby chic, but added to the charm. We would definitely go again (in season) unfortunately in January EVERYTHING in village is shut. That said the food in hotel restaurant was excellent, it would however, have been nice to try one of the many little restaurants that were closed
It was great. Amazing views! The staff were very helpful and breakfast was included
Classy
We loved this place, it has been recently re-decorated and it's fabulous. The sea views are amazing. The staff couldn't do enough for us. They were the perfect balance off professional & friendly/relaxed. I can't wait to go back again.
Lovely hotel with a great view of the water!
The place was lovely and dining on the deck was superb. The room was cozy and the bathroom was nice. The onsite dining including the continental breakfast were great. I arrived around 9:00 pm in the evening and check-in was quick. I just missed seeing the sunset from the dining balcony though I did view it from the taxi on the way out from the Livorno train station. The taxi cost was 28 euros from Livorno train station. My other option was to wait 2 hours to take the train to Quercianella station which is 5 minute walk from the hotel. I left Milan around 4:30 that afternoon via train. In the morning I was up early to enjoy the facilities before I needed to leave for Rome after check-out. I sat on one of the three sun decks for a while. The only issue I had was that my "garden-view" was a first floor room with the view of the parking lot! That is not a garden view. I usually like to sleep with the drapes open so I can enjoy the evening sky but I can't with cars right outside.
Nice hotel but location is awful
Hotel is very nice and recently refurbished. There is nothing to do and nowhere to eat except hotel. Food was poor, overpriced and apart from one young male waiter the staff were not good with English or very friendly. I doubt we will ever back to this part of Italy.
Fabulous!
Wish we could have stayed longer!
Could be better cared for
Good could be a lot better , staff dress wear can and should be much better, it may be winter butt presantion is important at all times. It is a nice place , please do it justice . Do not rely on your Weddenings and summer trade .?. Over all we enjoyed it.
Very good position,Dining room presentation poor.
Very good, Food great, cost of food a little costly, breakfast good, Owners Great, looking forward to going again. Thank you for looking after all 12 of us.
Excellent place to stay
My wife and I loved how cozy the hotel felt. The Sea view from the hotel is amazing. It's absolutely beautiful. We definitely plan on going back next summer!
Great wedding venue!
We stayed here for a wedding reception and the hotel did an absolutely amazing job for that from the decorations to the ambiance to the food. The scenery is fantastic and the location cannot be beat. Overall, the rooms were also very nice, very clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the free wi-fi never worked for anyone in our party so I would encourage the hotel to look into this because many of us were frustrated by that fact.
Lovely hotel with a sea view
Very clean and recently renovated rooms. The breakfast is also very good. I d recommend this hotel to everyone.
Recommended :)
Lovely little hotell, nice people.
Romantic seaside get away
Very tranquil sea side view romantic great food wait staff friendly good place for a get away. We were there while 2 weddings took place.we felt second in service on wedding days.three stars is all i can give based on wedding take over
Not up to advertisement
Didn't like the area.
Very good overall only issue there is no restaurant and had difficult time finding one. Breakfast was all package food with some fresh fruit.
The location of this hotel is fabulous.
Fabulous location. The pool overlooking the sea is beautiful. The only downside to this hotel are the bathrooms which are dated however very clean. Overall very good value for money and the staff are lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
by the water
the best part of this hotel is that its right by the water. You can either enjoy the hotel pool or walk around the hotel to get to the 'beach' which is very nice and relaxing with very nice views the rooms, however, are very old and the beds are not very comfortable. breakfast was ok. staff was friendly and helpful.
Old uncomfortable hotel with a beatuful view
Rooms has very old small TV, no conditioners, it was a problem to find a socket to charge the telephone and switch on anti-mosquito unit (no sockets near the bed), the audibility allowed us to hear the cough from other rooms, it took some time to find a receptionist to make a payment, we could do this only with the assistance of the waiter from the restaurant.
lovely cosy hotel next to beach
had a lovely 5 days here, perfect location and great staff
2 night stay
Fantastic setting on the med. we felt disappointed that when we arrived 3/4 of the outdoor area was I not available to us as hotel guests as a wedding function was happening. We had no information that this would be the case. Rooms ok. Bathrooms not good enough for the price.
Great place!
Great service and great location. Loved it! What a view! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Beautiful view
Beautiful view but my concern was safety, my "balcony" was public space and didn't seem to be secure
A hidden gem!
Lovely hotel overlooking the water. Excellent and very friendly staff. Seaview room with balcony was fantastic - great size and tastefully furnished. Lovely big bed. The restaurant served consistently fantastic food - really, really excellent - the best of our stay in Italy and we had eaten very well throughout our trip. A wonderful visit and we will return for sure!
Anniversary Weekend
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our anniversary weekend. Upon arrival, we were showed to our room which, as all the rooms had skeleton key locks. The hotel had a very classic appearance including decor. This hotel is also pet friendly which was awesome because we were traveling with our dog. The wi-fi was one of the fastest I've experienced. I'm on a special athletic diet and upon letting the staff know, they accommodated me the best they could with both breakfast and Dinner for 2 nights. I'd also recommend getting the room with the sea view and unmentioned baclony because it was amazing. we slept with the windows open and although chilly, the sound of the waves was tranquil and relaxing. The leaning tower of Pisa is 30 min away by car which we also visited. The only suggestion I would make is that the parking area is tight so if you have a rental, be sure to choose a compact. Also, if you'd like to eat elsewhere, Sunday lots of places are not opened til 1200 or so. Be mindful of that.
Service was exceptional
Pool, view, and sunsets were amazing. Service (without a doubt) was the best that anyone could ask for. The staff worked very hard to make sure all guests were provided with excellent care and attention. My husband and I were both very pleased and would recommend this hotel. It has been one of the highlights of our vacation.
Enjoyed our stay
It was just getting ready for the season. We had the best dinner and breakfast of our trip.
Great value family hotel
Dinner was really good standard and value for money. The staff serving meals were fantastic and really friendly knowledgable and attentive. The scenery from the balcony was superb and the pool was pleasant to swim in when the weather was warm. Train station a two minute walk is useful for Florence. Great value feels like a family friendly hotel.
Very quaint 100 year old Villa
This is a very unique hotel with a ton of charm. It is in need of some repairs, which they are working on. But overall, you can't beat the location, the amenities and the restaurant staff are amazing. The food was fantastic and we loved the waiter and waitresses we had. Very good breakfast was included as well.
Great location overlooking the sea. A bit hard to find but signposted from main road. Good breakfast really friendly breakfast staff. The Hotel were hosting a small conference so we didn't see much of any other staff. Hotel room pretty old but comfortable enough. Worth paying a bit more for the full sea view.
Easy to get to. Wonderful views.
Visited in late March, so no pool or hot tubs. Extremely friendly staff. Would like to go back in season someday.
Excellent hotel in Livorno
This hotel is EXCELLENT! The customer service is outstanding. The customer is priority and they treat you like you are family. The staff is very helpful, respectful, and courteous. The breakfast is the best I have ever had in a hotel stay. They have a great selection of rolls, juices, and you can also request hot breakfast. They have a very nice restaurant with a great selection of dishes. Also, our room had a large balcony with a beautiful view of the rocky sea. I will recommend this hotel to any person that wants to stay in Livorno, Italy.
Lovely Quiet Hotel on Italian Coast
Idyllic location in season with a prime position overlooking the sea. Lovely terraces and pool, although when we visited at the end of October the weather was not good enough (unfortunately!) to make use of them. The surrounding areas appeared somewhat deserted, and a car was necessary to be able to get around. Also with the darker autumn evenings, there could be better lighting facilities in order to read comfortably!
A FINE PLACE TO UNWIND
It was like an oasis when we arrived, with an old world feel, of statues, swimming pool and steps to the sea. There was a feel of Sommerset Maughn, an expectation of the detective Pioret coming up the steps from the sea. If it sounds romantic it was, with it's ambience and a good feeling. The meal outside overlooking the sunset was nice and the wines were at a reasonable price. It seems to be family run with a good friendliness about the whole place. Oh it is multilevel led and they have a lift to service each floor. The only difficulty is finding it so may I suggest instructions that are very clear to be sent with any booking. Our GPS (2012 model) showed the area as unmapped. There are nearby restuarants but we did not try them. Would I recommend , very much a yes.
A step back in time.
If you like quaint, you'll love this hotel. Villa Margherita harks back to a more romantic time when Livorno was the destination of poets and musicians from all over Europe The rooms with high ceilings and shuttered windows have the charm of a simpler time when bedrooms were meant for rest not for catching up by computer with unfinished work. The kitchen serves superb food. We tried several dishes and each was prepared to perfection. The dining room is regal. Guests may feel like a million dollar just sitting at table. No space for more.
close to rail link
Recently we booked three nights at the Hotel Margherita,Quercianella. The Hotel is convenient to rail links, approx 750 metres away. Set right on the coastline, overlooking the sea it is ideal for a break. The food was very good, and the service excellent. We had booked a quad room,(11)however only three had travelled(we were given a slight discount for the fourth person missing),which may be as well as it may have been a bit tight in the room.,there were two camp style beds to go with a large double. As we travelled when it was hot (july) my other half had to have a fan in the room as there was no air con there.. This aside it is a lovely place and I would definitely return...
A little gem
The hotel is difficult to find but well worth it. Stunning views. Meals served on the terrace overlooking the sea. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Only stayed one night en route to Rome but would certainly return.
Loved it!!!
I agree with another guest who said this place was a 'palace on the sea'!!!We found this place the day before we departed for Corsica. Could of stayed here for the week. Staff exceptionally friendly and only wanted to make you enjoy your stay-nothing too much trouble. Great breakfast, good restaurant. We had family room (8) large balcony ended up with sea view and garden view.
Villa Margherita is a very lovely hotel by the sea in Livorno. The room are clean, comfortable bed and the staff were great. We enjoyed the breakfast that came with room. Generous serving of coffee, juices, egg, bread and cakes.
From Sweden with love
Wonderful personnel and restaurant. Book the room with sea view if possible and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Mediterranean. The only disadvantage was that the pool opens at the end of May.A good 3-star hotel. Anders with family
A Hidden Gem of Italian Elegance - Family Owned
We stayed one night at Hotel Villa Marguerite on our way back to France and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. This family-owned hotel is a stunning Roman-style building with beautiful interiors that truly capture the essence of Italian elegance. From the moment we arrived, we felt the warm and welcoming family atmosphere, making our stay even more special. They had hotel parking and it was as promised. Our room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, with a great shower and an unexpected bonus—a breathtaking ocean view we discovered in the morning. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, recommending a nearby restaurant, Ireale Osteria Pizzeria, which served delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. Breakfast was another highlight. Even in the windy winter weather, the view was spectacular, and the variety of fresh, tasty options made for a perfect start to the day. We’re so glad we found this gem and are already considering returning in the summer to celebrate our wedding day. Hotel Villa Marguerite is truly magical, combining timeless design with heartfelt hospitality. Highly recommended!
A very beautiful and comfortable place!
We stayed only for a night and the room was just perfect and comfortable despite the strong wind
The Worst
Extremely dirty and a lot of things was broken.
Comodissimo l’ampio parcheggio.
Great hotel, excellent room with very confortable bed, food in restaurant was delicious Staff was great Beautifull sceneries
A gem of a hotel for a dream get away!
Villa Hotel Margherita is a little gem of a hote, where you feel like you’re at a private Villa! Beautifully decorared, beach vibe, comfy beds, great large bathroom! Lovely terasse and pool and little hide away spots all over! Perfect for a family event or a get away. Little shops near by, beautiful views… We stayed in 204, and had direct avcess to the terasse! A couple of chairs outside and a coffe maker and it would have been a bonus! Sarah at check in is absolutely a bundle of energy, and so helpful! Lovely server for dinner too, didn’t get her name.. Go here!!
Piccola perla a gestione familiare.
Posto splendido, personale gentilissimo e premuroso.Ottima la colazione e le stanze.Bravi!
Hyvä hotelli
Hyvä hotelli, mahtavat maisemat ja erinomainen henkilökunta. Olimme perhelomalla ja kaikki toimi hienosti vaikka emme olleet aina aikataulussa. Sijainti on rauhallinen.
Sehr freundliches Personal
Albergo gia visitato in passato.

This was my best stay in Italy so far. The lady at the desk is so very helpful and arranged a ride to the train station for me. Outstanding view of the beach from the pool area. Definitely a very fine place to stay.
