To enter the hotel is somewhat difficult. The room was very small. There were hairs on the bathroom floor
Felt safe staying as a solo female traveller. Lovely room, nice view onto the street and an easy place to stay
Wanderer
Loved my stay at this hotel. Amber, who checked me in, was great!! Stayed in a single room - small but most comfortable bed, great shower, quiet. Hotel very convenient to ‘old’ Lyon, shops, cafes, sites.
Unique and full of character. Close to cafes and the old city. Room was hot which would be more of an issue in summer.
This is an older property and has seen better days. That being said, the room & bathroom were perfectly clean & the staff very nice and attentive. Not a high-end hotel, but great value for the price.
Great location, exceptionally clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Lovely stay at Hotel Vaubecour 5*!
The hotel is the second floor in a traditional apartment building. The building is lovely and the rooms have been sympathetically set up with modern bathrooms introduced. The hotel is exceptionally clean. Owners/staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us a map and indicating the various areas to visit. There are also lots of guide books in Reception to borrow/look at. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as preferred to go out to local cafes/boulangeries. We stayed in Room 9 which is a double room overlooking Rue Vaubecour. We did not really hear any noise from outside through the secondary glazing. There was a little noise from the apartment above but nothing too intrusive - maybe just a chair moving on the floor. The location is excellent and we had good weather so walked to all the sights, but there are Metro stations very close by.. We would definitely stay again - thank you!
Loved this hotel! very comfortable and friendly staff, excellent location; will stay again in the future!
The staff were incredibly nice and service-oriented and the room was impeccable, so chic and French. I would 100% stay here again
Charming hotel
The room was clean and had a chic decor. It is close to attractions. Andy was very helpful and drew all attractions in a map and provided directions to transport. I will stay there again
Quaint and very old fashioned this property is good form having that old France experience. However I would not recommend it long term. It was like staying in an apartment with EXTREMELY loud and annoying neighbors. My entire 24 hours there I kept wondering, ‘okay now what is that??? Are they cutting down trees or just moving all of their furniture?’ Plus if you are handicapped at all this is not the hotel for you. I picked it because it said elevator and I have a bum knee- elevator was tiny and also non operational so up two flights of stairs I lugged my luggage to get to the lobby.
Staff was very friendly. The room was perfect and had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. This location is 3 minutes to a metro (Ampere Victor Hugo) and 13 min walk to the main train station (Parrache). The hotel is on the 3rd level of the building. Lyon is such a beautiful city, so much history to discover. Gastronomy here is on a different level. We enjoyed Lyon so much.
No a/c was difficult as it was hot. The hotel is one floor of the building. There is limited personnel at the property. If we had visited during milder weather we likely would have enjoyed the hotel room but we could not get past the heat.
Lovely owners, lovely environment, very clean, well maintained, and lovely breakfast
Set up is more like a B&B although the property has the word hotel in the name. Located on second floor of residential building. Locals upstairs I felt had elephants for pets, making a lot of noise moving furniture all day and heavy foot steps. Andy on front desk AMAZING! Lovely well run family hotel. Would I stay again, probably not, rooms are tiny for 2 people, no fridge, no complimentary water offered on arrival. I prefer a hotel where I don’t need to listen to local living. Would recommend, however full disclosure, it is set up like a B&B.
Very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. This made our stay very nice.
The owner was very helpful in recommending parking and places to eat. Comfortable and centrally located hotel. Nice breakfast too.
.
I loved the place. And the staff was friendly and mostly helpful. I wish they helped us with bringing up the bags, knowing how small the elevetor is.
I had a really pleasant experience! It’s very well located, the staff is super friendly and the hotel has a nice vintage vibe. And they offer a yummy breakfast ;)
Excellent stay, really good choice, you can't go wrong with regarding the location, confort and price. Many thanks for your hospitality
What a wonderful boutique hotel! You truly cannot beat the value. Great location and run by such a sweet family.
Beautiful hotel with incredible staff
This stay completely exceeded my expectations - the entire space is lovely, welcoming and unique, and both the owner and the young people at the front desk went above and beyond to make me feel welcome in both the city and the hotel. I've never had such a helpful run-through of the neighborhoods, places and paths to visit in a city, it enchanted my whole visit. The room itself was lovely - soft linens, window out on a charming street, sweet-smelling soaps - and the individually served breakfast was a really special way to start the day. I can't say enough good things about my experience here! I hope I can return with my partner since I think it would be wonderful for a couple's trip as well.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a room on the interior as the street-facing rooms are a bit noisy.
Thank you for your hospitality. Hotel Vaubecour was an excellent choice for us in Lyon.
Wonderful host & lovely stay.
In Lyon for a day trip, Amazing host. Really helpful and very welcoming.Beautiful building really clean in the heart of the city. Thankyou
Nice hotel with accesibility issues
The hotel is fine, honestly. The issue for us was it was very uncomfortable to access and would definitely not recommend for someone with limited mobility. We had large suitcases with us and was very difficult to access, due to 2 very large and heavy doors, steps, stairs and a tiny elevator. Other than the access issues, the hotel is nice and clean and the room was nice.
Owner is very pleasing & thorough. Map was given to us and several recommendations given to us for dinner. He knows the city and areas very well.
Excellent place to stay
Really nice stay!
Great place to stay , incredible host
Highly recommend.
This is a little gem. The hosts are super helpful and go beyond most to ease guests’ visits. They know good restaurants (we liked their taste). The room was quiet; the modern bathroom tucked in was great. Location was good- easy walk to many things we wanted to see, including The oldest area of the city and the river. Breakfast options are helpful. Attentiveness to Covid precautions was reassuring. We will be recommending to friends and family and hope to return.
This hotel is really clean, managed by warm family. Their rooms are equipped well, quiet and comfortable. I would love to come back to this hotel!
Great clean comfy hotel very centrally located Excellent staff very knowledgeable and willing to help bathroom totally renovated.
Perfect
Small hotel in an ideal location with really helpful owners. The recommendations for restaurants and things to so were excellent. This was our second stay here and we're already looking forward to returning again.
The hotel was cozy, clean and very close to the old town, and the other attractions. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great location, nice comfortable room and friendly helpful staff. If we return to Lyon we will definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in an old area near a beautiful Abbey, the Old Town and the metro. It had authentic old charm and was decorated tastefully in the French style. I was welcomed and care and effort were made to inform me about how best to see Lyon, restaurant recommendation, local market and bakery. Also about my room and all extras were there including tea/coffee making facilities. It was quiet and comfortable. The people really cared about the details.
Very friendly and helpful staff, decent room - very happy!
3 am check in
No ac. There was a heat wave going on The owner of hotel accomodated a 0300 arrival due to a cancelled flight THANK YOU
Great property in fab location. Really nice room - airy and light
Bon Marché
It is well situated to enjoy the area and reasonably priced. The pleasant hostess provided much information so i could focus what I wanted to do.
Stylish Stay in Lyon
A lovely, characterful, family run hotel, standard and quality of which far exceeds the two star rating. Great location. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Not understanding at all and quite unfair .
My girlfriend and I were stranded in Rennes on the day of our departure to Lyon as all trains , flights and buses were fully booked we contacted the hotel to ask if our booking could be moved forward or if we could be refunded, we were flatly refused and given no alternative or helpful solution to our problem and were simply told that it was not their problem and we would have to lose our money and booking with zero refund or alternative . We had to pay for a new booking in Rennes for the two days we were stranded and lost our original booking . We were left feeling grossly mistreated and obviously upset as this was no fault of ours to be in this predicament in the first place as we really were looking forward to our time in Lyons and our stay in the hotel .
Wonderful small hotel
This is just a little gem of a place. The hosts and staff could not be more welcoming or helpful. They provided us with extensive information on exploring the city and recommended great places to eat. Breakfast was of excellent quality and generous for a very reasonable price. We never managed to eat it all. Each morning they offered us some tin foil so we could wrap up the rest to eat later. The rooms were small but nicely arranged with good storage and charging areas for technology. The Shower was great with plenty of hot water. It was in a lovely old building with huge windows which opened and we slept with the window open most nights. The area was ideal. Easy walking to most places and close to the metro when we were going further afield. There was a nice store next door with fresh fruit displayed outside. It was hard to resist so we didn't.
We felt the breakfast offered for 9 euros was not worth the money. It was scant to say the least. I wonder what we would have gotten for 5 euros??
Quick stay in Lyon
Clean hotel in a great neighborhood in Lyon. Very close to all the tourist sights. Innkeepers are wonderful hosts
Very good find
I found the whole team to be polite, courteous yet friendly. I also liked the decor, the breakfast was well priced and the location good. I usually stay in a bigger branded hotel for work but will definitely consider go back to Vaubecour for the Boutique and personalised feel.
This is not a typical hotel. It appears to be a former residence or office that was converted into a hotel after the fact, and it is only on one floor of a five- or six-story building. Our room was clean and somewhat small, and the bathroom was new and relatively spacious for France. Our bed was really comfortable. The couple who runs the hotel is very pleasant and accommodating. You have to order breakfast in advance, which we forgot to do a few times, but it's delicious and well worth the price. There's not a lot to see or do in the immediate vicinity and the neighborhood is quiet. We walk everywhere we can, and It was about a 10 or 15 minute walk to Vieux Lyon, and about 10 mins to Place Bellecour. A grocery store and bakery are right next door - perfect when we wanted a midday pastry or some fruit, or we needed baby wipes. We love hotels like this one. It was a little different, not cookie-cutter, charming without being "charming."
Boutique hôtel located in the old Lyon in a traditional building. Rooms well sound proof with double doors. The management provided and installed a crib. We came with our 8m son who cried all night but no one heard him... ! Good value, great location and excellent staff.
We’ve stayed here before, and returned because of how friendly and helpful the owners are. They can communicate in several languages and help you with your French. Hotel is well located for walking, transit and Perrache train station. Rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable if a little small. Entry is a little confusing at first; it is on second floor above shared foyer with other apartments, accessible at street by intercom/passcode pad and an interior door by second intercom. This is good from security standpoint. Everything works, baths are modern, but it is an old building with some quirks or charm, depending on how you see it. If you need sleek accommodations with all the bells and whistles, you should look elsewhere; if you like pleasant, helpful service, easy access to central Lyon in an actual neighborhood, give it a shot. We’d go back.
Great location and wonderful hosts/owners knowledgeable about Lyon. If you are looking for a quaint quiet property in a neighborhood location, this is it!
Great location, friendly staff and very quiet.
I really enjoyed my stay here, the room was modern and peaceful and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Great location and hosts are very accommodating and friendly. Excellent stay!
The staff is super helpful and friendly. They will go out of their way to be sure you have a nice stay.
Great location. Very clean and terrific help from the owners Would definitely stay there again
Great location. Close to metro. Easy walk to old town and downtown centre. Quiet street. Cheerful welcome from the hosts and very helpful explanation of how to get places, what to see, etc.
Quality and style in a great location.
Hotel Vaubecour is a stylish, well run hotel considerably better than the 2 stars it has been awarded. The owners Xavier and Gaelle are extremely professional and endeavour to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent. The hotel is well located in an area of designers/antique shops and restorers. We recommend visiting the nearby the Textile museum and adjoining Decorative Arts museum, on the ticket. We thoroughly recommend Hotel Vaubecour.
Great little hotel in the centre of Lyon
The hotel is located on a quiet street in the centre of Lyon, near to restaurants and shops. I only stayed for 1 night in a very clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was delicious, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the wifi was free and worked well. I would definitely recommend Hotel Vaubecour for anyone visiting Lyon.
Good but read the tips beforehand
Great location but not easy to access teh hotel floor.
Family run hotel, great location
We were warmly greeted, shown our room, provided a lot of helpful information to see the city. Breakfast consists of rolls and coffee for a small fee but good quality in nice, airy room.
Very nice little hotel
Very good value for money, with a family vibe. You feel well looked after. Spotless place with tasteful decor. Safe and quiet area, conveniently located with easy access to public transport and 5 min walking distance to places Bellecòurt. Would easily recommend, except may be in the summer as I don’t think that the bedrooms have air cond.
Better disclosure would help!
While the reviews about the hotel were almost unanimously positive they generally failed to mention that the hotel has no parking, is on the second floor with no elevators and is not air conditioned. When we arrived my wife was actually not even able to figure how to enter the building. We had driven from Torino, Italy and had a car full of luggage. The nearest parking was 7 blocks away at a cost of Euro 31/day. Since we were traveling in the summer, the temp in Lyon that day was 36C and our room had only two windows facing east, overlooking the street and 2 oscillating fans. Needless to say the night was uncomfortable. On the positive side the staff were extremely helpful providing lots of information on things to do, where to eat, etc. They were clearly the highlight of the stay. Net, a good choice for light travelers outside of the summer heat.
Charming and helpful hosts make this a sweet little hotel in Lyon.I would stay here again.
Lyon Experience
We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and the great service we received. The hotel was centrally located and close to the metro. Probably the best aspect was that the rooms were really quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was enjoyable and served in a sunny dining room. Would recommend this hotel.
Traveler's dream
Convenient and cosy, this B&B-style traveler's hotel is an excellent value and places you in the Heart of Lyon.
Charming and friendly
The accommodation is on the 2nd floor of an old building and have been recently renovated. Our Signature Double room was spacious with a comfortable bed and new bathroom. A continental breakfast is available in the charming dining room and the young owners are very friendly and helpful. A small lift is available to carry luggage to the 2nd floor. The location is quiet and easy walking distance to restaurants and the old town.
Nice hotel, somewhat overpriced
Getting into the hotel was a problem. Access is through a keypad inside the main door to the building and the Hotel is on the 2nd floor (ground floor is 0). We repeatedly tried to get access following the directions provided, but there was no response. Finally, another guest entered and we were able to get in. The hotel is very pleasant and the one-person reception/management was extremely helpful and personable. The room was clean and pleasant, but we were told not to open the window so that noise would be kept to a minimum. That meant no control over room temperature. The room was adequate, but small. After currency exchange, the room was $170 CAD and that seemed somewhat high for what we got. The location was within walking distance of the old part of the city, but it was a significant walk. All said, we would stay there again, other than the price.
A quiet Hotel, close to the main sights of Lyon
We had a lovely stay at this Hotel. There was an initial misunderstanding regarding the booking, but it was quickly resolved and the owners were extremely helpful.
Very well located and very friendly
Very well located between the 2 rivers, and within walking distance of major attractions, restaurants, bars and the appealing old town. Owners were exceptionally helpful with useful tips and guiding us to the main city sights, and breakfast was more than adequate at a reasonable price. Recommended.
Nice hotel in old town
A nice hotel in old town Lyon with an old time charm. We arrived and found an unusual entrance, having ring the door bell to get buzzed in.
A 2 Star that Deserves More
With only 11 rooms, Hotel Vaubecour is very much a family operation. Access to the hotel wasn't complicated but you have to contact the owner if he doesn't hear the doorbell and the hotel is on the third floor of a residential block. There is a lift. The room was simple but very clean and tidy with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was simple - baguette, croissant, juice and yoghurt and served in a very pleasant room. We only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer.
Lovely young owners who couldn't do enough to help
Great
Good location with restaurants and shopping nearby. Walked most everywhere. Metro station 2 blocks away.
Good location very accommodating staff. Very clean and has good Tv
Fantastic Boutique Hotel
The hotel was in a very convenient location to all the main attractions. When arrived was given map by very helpful owners and the main tourist attractions were highlighted and was advised about where to visit and where not to eat if wanted traditional Lyonisse food. Room was big enough for 2, had beautiful tradional features and a lovely old fashioned fireplace. Bathroom was clean and modern with walkin shower. Overall one of the nicest hotels I have ever stopped in and would recommend it to anyone.
Adequate for a solo traveller.
Allocated a small single room...noisy as it was situated directly at reception.
Authentic old Lyon hotel.
The couple who owns the hotel is very nice. Breakfast was very fresh. We loved that they kept the character of the old building when they remodeled the floor for the hotel. location is excellent, right in the heart of the old part of town and near the metro and train.
comfortable, affordable hotel close to main sights
room was clean and comfortable, hosts were welcoming and very accommodating. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Excelent small hotel
Very welcoming owners. A small but comfortable room. Very French! And very reasonable price. Location is ideal, away from the busy tourist areas, yet accessible to everything. Don't go if you want all the big corporate hotel facilities. This is a small family run hotel and much the better for that. We really shouldn't be telling everybody about this gem! We will be going back.
A Lyon gem!
Great location, just steps from Saone. Tastefully decorated rooms and very clean throughout. Owners are wonderful -- very accommodating with requests and info about what to see and do, restaurants, transportation, etc. Our Lyon experience was enhanced by staying here.
Very good choice for a room in cetnter Lyon
For a room only this hotel was a very good choice. There is a near by local brasserie. Parking is not east too. But the room was clean and comfort and the owners are a very nice couple.
Great location, lovely family run hotel
We had a great stay. The rooms are tastefully decorated clean and comfortable. Its a great position with easy access to central Lyon. Lots of local cafes and restaurants within walking distance too.
The room was very small and not like the picture. It was also located right at the entrance. You can hear everyone coming in and out of the hotel all night, it was a bad experience.
Hôtel bien situé, à la décoration soignée.
Value for money in a rather extensível town
Well located and mantained, clean, silent. Room is small and without air condinioning. Good bed and bathroom/shower. Good cost-benefit ratio
Minuscule chambre / cellule...
Positiv: Sehr gute Lage, Personal sehr freundlich, sauber und ruhig. Supermarkt direkt nebenan täglich geöffnet. Negativ: schlechte Parkmöglichkeiten, 10 Stunden parken kostet 60 Euro

Great stay, confusing entrance
Amazing location, friendly service. Room was small but tidy and good enough for me. You get a fob to come in and out the time you want but the check in was confusing to me, I was expecting a reception but there was only a door and a intercom, and then another door, you have to call twice so they can let you in. The hotel is on the 2nd floor, so it’s confusing if you don’t know that. If they sent check-in instructions by email prior, I’ve never received it.
