Great stuff. Great breakfast. Room conditions are a bit old but overall fine. Great location surrounded by markets and restaurants, close to station
It was just a bit noisy in terms of being able to hear activity in other rooms. Otherwise pleasant.
Great place
Cute place to stay, exactly what was described
The staff was amazing. Helped me take my luggage upstairs. Didnt realize that you had to take stairs (about 15-20) to get to the first floor. Overall, nice staff, breakfast was included. Small shower, but Will recommend.
Staff was super nice
Very nice area close to the train station, the supermarket, restaurant ,you can go walk around the area .. it was really nice,,
Nice stay
Very nice hotel. Staff friendly, professional and helpful. Continental breakfast was fresh and delicious. A little far from sites. Neighborhood not the greatest but we felt safe. Graffiti everywhere and the city needs a cleaning crew.
Hotel is convenient for train to airport and metro. Great restaurants nearby.
No elevators, very outdated rooms, limited facilities
Typical small European room & shower. Tight quarters, but very clean and excellent room service each day. Staff were exceptional in manner and providing assistance, especially with directions and arranging taxi service.
We liked the hotel location was very close to train and metro station. It is away from the tourists areas as well but the area did not seem very safe and it seemed quite run down. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The water pressure and the hot water was not that good.
Hotel is reasonable for price. Located conveniently near a train station and Piazza Re di Roma with good shopping and restaurants. One drawback, no elevator, but no problem walking up one flight. Staff carried our luggage.
Very clean hotel. Staff was very friendly. Fresh and diversified breakfast. Thank you Bianca for the amazing breakfast and cappuccino! The room we had was much smaller than the room in the picture but ok. 3 minutes walk to the Tuscolana train station and 4 minutes to the Ponte Lungo subway. Overall, I recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel, with great service and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Hotel is situated conveniently for the metro, shops, good bars and restaurants. Would definitely book again
The rooms were kept very clean and the service was great.
Highly recommended.
Tuscolana Tuscolana’s staff was professional, helpful and nice. The room was clean and the air conditioning was working well. For breakfast we had eggs, cold cuts, cheese and fresh baked pastries finished with Bianca’s excellent coffee. Thank you all for making our stayed so enjoyable. We highly recommend Tuscolana! Maria from Toronto, Canada
Love this place so much, it was so clean and the staff was so kind and the breakfast amazing. My only suggestion may to be to invest in new beds as they were very uncomfortable
Great hotel and breakfast
I stayed at this hotel in late March during my family 3-day Rome trip. This Hotel is very good on all my key criteria's. Very close to Metro and regional trains which make Airport and City travel very easy. I loved morning breakfast and also staff there took care of us as we were in their home. They were very helpful in my day trip planning and providing guidance in case on any issues. For example 3 metro stops were closed for few days and they told us during breakfast, which help us to make alternate arrangements. They also stored my luggage on my last day till I picked up in the afternoon to go to airport and yes without any charges.
Staff was super nice. Location excellent. Breakfast a little short.
Super little hotel just a few stops on metro from city centre. Staff all helpful and friendly. Buses and train stops nearby.
Good value and great service.
Enjoyed our stay. A distance from city center but with metro/taxi (pricey), it was not hard to access. Decent restaurants nearby. Service and breakfast/service was terrific. It's a 2 star hotel so don't expect too much in terms of amenities. Neighborhood littered with graffiti but felt safe walking around to find restaurants. Many within walking distance.
Greatmid-level hotel near metro and train stations
Great location. (Easy walking to trai. Station and metro), friendly staff, nice breakfast. No elevator but staff help with luggage.
Coming and going
We stayed at the Hotel Tuscolana at the beginning of our trip and returned to stay a month later at the end of our trip. We were given a warm "Welcome back" by staff which made us feel good. We chose this hotel initially because of the close proximity to the train station (about 3 minute walk) and the good reviews we had read. The hotel is maintained very well and the breakfast was the best we had our entire trip with lots of choices and homemade treats. As mentioned, all staff members were kind. A great experience! Can't really rate the area as we didn't explore the neighborhood and just came to sleep. Our primary destination was not Rome and the hotel was located very well to our train transportation.
Very nice hotel staff. Room was clean. Breakfast was awesome!
Excellent
Hotel Tuscolana is the gem of Rome! Tucked away in San Giovani it is close to everything by Metro without all of the annoyance of the tourist areas. When we arrived we were well received and given the key to our room which was lovely. It was very clean and warm. When I removed the bedspread, folded and tucked it away, because I get hot at night, much to my surprise and delight, the staff added a crisp white sheet on top of the blanket for additional comfort. The neighborhood of San Giovanni is quite safe even late at night. My 16 year old daughter and I felt quite comfortable alone on the street despite the graffiti on the walls throughout the neighborhood and we quickly discovered most of the neighborhoods in Rome apart from the tourist areas and ancient attractions are covered in graffiti and are quite nice otherwise. We began everyday at Hotel Tuscolana with a wonderful very traditional Italian/European breakfast and a cup of cappuccino, included in our stay. We left our key with the front desk daily, as is customary, and we utilized the Ponte Lungo Metro station to access the city which is quite easy. Hotel Tuscolana offers easy access to all of the day to day amenites you would find at home. There is a grocer, a pharmacy, a market, convenience store, shoe store, clothing store, and pharmacy all within one block of the hotel. Coming back to Hotel Tuscolana after sight seeing is like going home at the end of the day. The staff are all warm, inviting, and very helpful.
Nice Stay
Very nice and friendly hotel close to Romance Tuscolana train station. We walked right to the hotel easily. Nice breakfast. Area has graffiti unfortunately but we felt safe. We stayed one night and also used their grocery stores.
Our first time to Italy and didn't want to be right downtown in the middle of the crowd. Very close to the Metro. Staff was very helpful. Rooms were comfortable with a nice simple breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again
Excellent choice
Great there's a metro station one block away.
Nice hotel and good location
We had a really wonderful stay. The breakfast was the best! Although it is not close to Rome's terminal, it was in a safe location.
Great introduction to Rome
Great location, friendly and welcoming staff. Great value for money.
Good hotel close to transport
The staff were cheerful, helpful, and attentive to any issues. They helped with English / Italian translation and suggestions for places outside of Rome to visit. The Wifi was generally good, and the TV had a setting that allowed Italian translation dubbing over English movies to be turned off. The room and bathroom was clean, tidy and airconditioned, room safe easy to configure and worked well, beds were comfortable enough. For breakfast juices, tea and coffee was available, along with pastries, cereals, yoghurts and cheese and meat slices. No lift, so luggage needs to be carried up/down the stairs. Pharmacy across the road and supermarket around the corner. Cafe's and Restaurant's within an easy walk. Metro (subway) and Roma Tuscolana train station are very close and give easy access to main Roma Termini train station. Metro, Train and normal bus travel is inexpensive compared with England. I would stay here again.
Near rail and metro station.
The only thing good with this hotel is it's nearby the train and metro station (only few mins walk). Nearby the metro station, there is a self-service laundry service. There isn't any lift in the hotel. You need to carry the luggages up the stairs to 2nd floor where the rooms are.
Boutique Hotel in Great Locale
While this boutique hotel doesn't offer many amenities, the location is undeniable. Just roughly a 5 minute walk from both the train that comes into the city from the airport and the metro line that runs through the city, you pretty much have easy access to get around wherever you are trying to go. No need for expensive cabs! Also, this hotel does offer a complimentary continental breakfast. The morning hotel staff was lovely and very helpful. The evening staff, not so much, but I believe there may have been a language barrier there. The room was small, typical European-style. The hotel could be a bit noisy, really the hallway. However, neither of these things bothered me much, because I wasn't spending much time in the hotel anyway. Overall, I enjoyed this hotel, but mostly for it's location to easy and cheap transportation options and the affordable rate!
Near Metro Line
Very helpful staff and wonderful baristas! Bed not the comfiest however.
Great shower, right next to really big and cheap Supermarket, very close to metro, close to laundromat, nice breakfast (vegetarian options too) with awesome chocolate pastries - although come early because it was very sparse after 9:15am. Very friendly front-desk-guy (with great English), and really nice Barista during breakfast. We thought it was really funny that the word "elegant" was in the description for this hotel. Our room was neon orange, and this place has the tackiest decorations we'd ever seen. No bother though!! Keep in mind that there is an extra eight Euro tax per night, that you need to pay during checkout.
Wonderful hotel, superb location
Excellent location (local train from Fiumicino, near the ponte lungo metro), wonderful restaurants nearby, also near supermarket and pharmacy, very helpful multilingual staff
Small modern hotel
A modern hotel conveniently placed for underground to sites in Rome and on main line to Fiumicino airport. Pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Good breakfast with homemade yogurt, croissants, fruit, nice coffee. Good value for money.
Hotel on the outskirts of Rome close to the Metro
The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Rome Metro and about 25 minutes walk to the Colosseo. The rooms are modern and clean with fresh towels supplied every day. The showers are powerful, soap and shampoo is supplied. If hair is your thang bring your own hair dryer as the wall mounted one is not very powerful. The breakfast is basic but perfect for any Rome explorer. The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. There is air conditioning in the rooms and fast free wifi.
Very good hotel in a good location.
We spent 5 nights in Rome. The room itself was really clean when we got there. It was air conditioned too so I slept well at night. Our room had a balcony but I had no idea how to open the door that led to it. The bed was really comfortable. My favourite part was the shower because it had a high pressure and a few different options that made the shower really pleasant. The only problems in the room was that our safe wasn't working, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly and the toilet would sometimes keep flushing for a long time until I pressed the flush button again. I really liked the staff in this hotel because they were always friendly and they really made us feel welcome every day that we stayed there. The woman at the breakfast buffet was my favourite because she was just so sweet and she'd always be smiling. The breakfast buffet was really good and it would keep me full for a large part of the day. There were cold cuts, cheese, pastries, fruit bowls, boiled eggs, cereal, milk and juice, coffee and bread which were things that I would look forward to every morning. The location of the hotel may look a bit inconvenient at first sight but IT'S NOT. There's a metro and a train station at a very small walking distance from the hotel. If you stay out late, there is always a night bus that'll bring you really close to the hotel. Overall, I'd highly recommend this hotel because of the price.
Good hotel a great value
Close to mainline railway station only a 2 minute walk. Watch out for gangs of pick pockets in the station. Hotel really clean and smart but the beds are uncomfortable
Good Hotel and Good Location
The hotel is located near the metro station of Ponte Lungo. It's a quick walk. Around Rome here is a lot of water spouts with drinkable water. There is one right near the hotel. Grocery store right next to the hotel. Room was small, but efficient. Nothing to complain about. Good place in Rome. Not expensive either.
Good hotel close to subway and train station.
Decent hotel. Best part about it is it's proximity to public transportation. It's very close to the subway and the train station. The hotel itself is average. The breakfast was decent, mostly pastry and coffee. Air conditioning and wifi were also good.
One block from the red line. Accessible by train.
The room was small as expected, it's europe for peace sakes. This family hotel is a gem and everyone tries their best to make you comfortable. We got in after midnight and dad was waiting at the front desk for us. He called us by name and when asked for hot water to make tea, got up and accommodated us with hot water, tea bags and the trimmings. In the morning we met a young daughter who knew everything we asked about. Bfast was good, no complaints here, it was free. We went out and did our sight seeing, came back at late and it wasn't a scary place to walk around at night either. But don't forget that the metro stops working around 11pm, then you will have to cab it. I will most definitely stay here again and also recommend it to friends.
Well positioned for bus, metro and train
Friendly helpful staff, room was a little on the small side, but very clean. good to have a safe and air conditioning, missed having the facility to make a hot drink in the room, but maybe this is a British thing! Breakfast was ok.
Close to grocery store, close to public trans.
Great stay. Was unable to stay last night due to flight time. Hotel manager didn't charge the nightly tax. (4 euros per person)
Friendly hotel
The hotel was convenient as it was next to the Metro and easy to access from the airport. The location is a bit in the outer skirts from the city centre which is quiet and away from the touristy area. It is however only 15 minutes away from landmarks such as The Coliseum by the metro. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Free breakfast in the morning is a bonus.
Best of our trip
staff was GREAT...a quaint hotel with personal care.
A great place to stay away from the center
The hotel is located away from the city center but it is a few stops from Termini and also next to the train FL1 for the airport. There are many good local restaurants around, small bars and lunch places. Even a new shopping mall with Decathlon is around the corner. The hotel staff is very helpfull, the breakfest is good and the rooms are very clean. They may be a bit small, but for us it was sufficient.
six nations trip
Good hotel, good location for metro and over land train. Decent breakfast considering how cheap it was too stay. Not much around the area, but good for metro.
Cute hotel w/good access to Rome's city center
I booked this hotel when another hotel which was recommended to me was full. I prefer boutique hotels, and Hotel Tuscolana fits this preference. The front desk staff are courteous and helpful, and our room was very comfortably with ample space. It was, however, a room for handicap access, so I imagine, it was larger than other standard rooms. Train and metro access are an easy walk from Hotel Tuscolana, and its daily rate is very moderate in price.
Nice hotel, helpful staff, close to the tube
Room was small but comfortable. Staff was very helpful and kins with our enquiries. Hotel is located very close to the tube (2 min. walk).
No lift. It is hard for big luggage bag to stay in 1st floor.
Could've made my trip a nightmare
The worst experience of my life.
Good hotel, sketchy neighborhood
Good clean hotel, helpful staff. This hotel is located in a sketchy neighborhood. The whole neighborhood is ful of graffiti. I was pick pocketed in this neighborhood and lost a hefty amount after I got off the metro. I was wearing my back pack in the back and asked a guy a question at the metro station. Alway wear a money belt or your pocket book in front.
Hotel Tuscolana
Staff very helpful and courteous. Location okay but not great. Rooms were very clean and for the price a value. Close to some very good restaurants but not shopping.
Comfortable, affordable, safe and clean!
Nice little hotel 10 minutes away from the city centre (by metro -Ponte Lungo if anyone's curious!) Staff were quite helpful, wifi was decent, the complimentary breakfast in the morning was also a very nice touch. The rooms were clean and tidy with a nice decor. You must leave the key with staff before you leave but considering how the reception is 24/7 that's not a problem. Finally, wih a supermarket 1 minute away from the hotel it makes buying daily necessities and food extremely convenient. Over all a great stay for a very affordable price!
Excellent staff and very helpful
Hotel is closely located to Metro, Bus and Train. Breakfast was average. Staff was outstanding
Nice hotel 3 min by train to Roma termini
Very close to Roma termini, 3 min by train and the train station is literally across the street. Only bad thing is there are no good places to eat if u happen to get hungry late at night or Sunday's. Hotel staff were nice and polite.
Helpful staff on reception, disappointing breakfas
Found the people on reception really helpful. Advised on travel, restaurants and printed off boarding passes. Room very clean. Found it quite noisy and would have appreciated mini bar so I could keep water cool and not have to keep paying for room service. Tube was off after nine so either took taxi or bus; when we took the bus we all got off a stop too early and it wasn't the nicest of walks home, best to avoid eye contact if you don't want people to follow you in cars. The only real problem was breakfast, in that it ran out two out of three mornings, the last day there was genuinely nothing left, even though there was more than 40 minutes left of breakfast supposedly being left. I should have complained the first time, but was really disappointed the second as it was on my last morning after an otherwise really positive stay. Felt they could have taken off the room service bill to make it up for it but again I should have said more. Disappointing as otherwise I would say this hotel is a bit of a find; very handy and reasonable with regards to transport.
Staff always available for questions with great recommendations. Right off of metro and train stations, so it's easy to get anywhere. Clean rooms with newly remodeled bathrooms. Free wifi and excellent breakfast too!
Bad choice for great city.
Absolutely dreadful. Run down hotel in run down neighborhood. Graffiti and trash everywhere.
Visit to Rome
The hotel was nice and a short distance from the subway, which was very convenient to getting to the city center. However, the area that the hotel was in was kind of depressing. There was graffiti on the buildings and it was dirty. The hotel was nice, the staff was helpful and the breakfast was good, but I just wish the hotel was in a different part of town.
Great hotel convenient to trains and metro line
This hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Tuscolana train station and the Ponte Lungo metro station. We had taken the train from Venice and made the Tuscolana train station our final destination-it was so easy to get to the hotel. (Don't get turned off by the neighborhood which seems to be a working-class one-we got off the metro every night after dark and never felt in danger walking back to the hotel.) Once at the hotel, the front desk staff is so friendly and accommodating. They gave us metro directions and a great map of Rome that had all the sites and the metro stations on it. The room was comfortable and quiet. You do need to ask for the TV and air condition remotes, though. And they will ask you to leave your room key with them at the front desk. I found this odd at first, but it was a relief not to have to keep up with a bulky key on a plastic number card. Breakfast in the lobby area was wonderful. The torts, pastries, rolls, and croissants were delicious, and every morning I looked forward to my freshly-made cappuccino! There are meats, eggs, and fresh fruit bowls as well. For the money, this place just can't be beaten. I would definitely stay here again. To get there from the train station, walk out of the station, cross the street, and turn left, then right on the main street. My daughter and I walked around the block to the right and got lost trying to find it.
Excellent hotel with very helpful staff
Staff always available for questions with great recommendations. Right off of metro and train stations, so it's easy to get anywhere. Clean rooms with newly remodeled bathrooms. Free wifi and excellent breakfast too!
A reasonable priced hotel with convenient location
Location is good, walking distance to train station (Tuscolana) and subway. Though the room is clean, hotel building is old.
Very good option but slightly overrated me thinks!
Hotel is very close to a Metro station and only 5 stops away from Termini. There is a number of convenience stores and brilliant restaurants in close proximity. It is located in a neighbourhood which is quite and pretty safe away from the buzzling city centre! Staff is very friendly and always willing to help you with anything that comes up. Breakfast was decent leaning towards the negative side, definitely could had been better. Cleanliness was excellent! One last thing, if you book a Deluxe Double/Twin room make sure you get one cause I didn't and I was given Superior, I realised it on the last day unfortunately.
Nice hotel outside tourist area but close to metro
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our experience was enjoyable and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious and included a variety of things to eat. Close to the train and metro, grocery store and eateries. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
Very lovely hotel
We really enjoyed our stay. The stay was very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it to others. Remember if taking the train in to book to the Tuscolana and then it is only a block away, we got out at termini (main terminal) and took a cab in, we could have saved some money and time just by getting out at the right stop. Overall the whole trip was great and Hotel Tuscolana helped make it more enjoyable. Great restaurants in walking distance too.
Excellent hotel
Really nice little hotel with excellent and attentive staff. Clean room (though small)but very high standard private bathroom . Great little breakfast in the morning. Really recommend this hotel for a long weekend getaway
Pleasant stay at Hotel Toscalana
I have enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Location is a bit outside the touristy area but easily accessible by Metro and local regional train. The Stazion Termini is just a few Metro stop away. Convenient enough for us. Hotel staff is very helpful.
Rome Hotel
Great hotel and helpful staff. Punto Lungo tube station is nearby.
Good budget hotel
Good, cheap place - no dramas. It's a bit removed from the hub of things but there's a metro line near by. The area isn't really that awash with restaurants though.
Inexpensive, sort of close to the center
Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Internet worked well. Room was very clean. Breakfast was very basic but a nice cup of Italian coffee is all I need.Francesca and Irene were extremely nice and gave us good suggestion on where to eat. The neighborhood was ok, meaning it was a regular place where people live.
good service and handy for the metro and train
very helpfull staff recommend a great restaurant round the corner very helpfull with planning local trips
Total disappointment! Pictures and description of hotel are fabricated. Rooms are very small, dirty and beds are very hard and not comfortable at all! Do yourself a favor......DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!
Perfect Location and service
The Hotel Tuscolana was great! We arrived late at night and were met with friendly and helpful night/evening receptionist. Great fish restaurant, Italian and Japanese within walking distance. 1 train direct from airport and metro line less than 5 mins walk. All in all pretty good. Breakfast is a bit sparse - or light - depending on your view but not bad!
Excellent hotel near to all sites
Excellent hotel, very clean and breakfast is good, the staff are very friendly, fairly priced., I will definitely stay there again, and recommend it to anyone.
Great location and price!
I book this hotel for a last minute trip to Rome....It is a boutique hotel very close to the train station and the subway. Easy 10min subway ride to the coliseum and 15 mins to Vatican City. There are some nice cafes in the area. I was however surprised at the amount of graffiti that is ALL over Rome, so don't get alarmed when you start walking around the area because its everywhere. The hotel staff was very friendly most speak English and they are very informative. The breakfast was ok, nothing fancy, and the rooms were clean, remodeled and very comfortable. Excellent wifi! I will definitely book again.
Lovely stay in Florence
We had a great stay here! The manager is very sweet and have us great recommendations on food (seriously, one of the best meals of our entire trip) and makes an amazing cappuccino. The hotel is a little further down the road form the city center, but nothing is far in Florence and we still walked everywhere. The place was clean and had great wifi. Would definitely return if ever in Florence again.
Great Hotel
This was a fantastic hotel to stay in ! Really great location close to the Tuscolana railway station which can be accessed easily from the airport. Also close to the Ponte Lungo metro station as well to easily get around Rome. However we travelled around Rome with taxis during our trip which was cheap and it only takes 15 euros to go to the Colosseum and so on from here. The service and friendliness of the staff in the hotel was very good with daily room service. The bathroom was also very clean and nice. Also the breakfast provided in the mornings was very good. If I am in Rome again I will definitely stay here again !
Perfect Stay!!!
It was one of the best stays I have had. The staff is very cordial. I had never visited Rome but the way Irene (the front desk manager there) guided me through with a help of a city map, was perfect and had no problems in exploring the city. The room is nice, clean and well attended. The location is good, just 300mts from a metro station. All in all a great place to stay. Thanks!!
Fantastic hotel
This hotel is located near Subway and Rail station. Receptionists are very friendly and helpful. My room is bigger and better than I expected. There is a restaurant, pizza and pasta are very delicious, near hotel. And the best thing is High speed internet, which is complimentary. It's the fastest internet that I've ever got for complimentary.I highly recommend this hotel to everyone who want to visit Rome.If I came back to Rome again, I had no doubt to choose this hotel.
Boutique hotel right near public transit
We stayed in a double room. It is fairly small (big enough to walk around the full size bed), but very clean, well kept, and nicely furnished. All the modern amenities. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was plentiful and had variety. Bathroom was clean, neat, and had a nice shower with multiple heads. Nice little balcony attached to room. Five minute walk to subway or regional train station. Train right from Rome's airport, very easy to get to even for first time time visitors. Subway or bus is only 1.50 Euro per ride and can get you anywhere in city you want. Surrounding neighborhood is nothing special, about the same as uptown Manhattan, but there is a gelateria (Gelato and food cafe) right on the way to the subway and a great fruit stand across the street. Definitely recommended for a lesser expensive and quietier neighborhood option than other more busy and touristy areas of the city.
Adequate 3-star for Rome
With Rome hotel prices being what they are, this hotel is a suitable bargain if you plan on being out and about all day. The hotel is convenient to the Roma Tuscolana trenitalia station which will get you to/from the airport. The rooms are small, but extra space is dedicated to the bathroom, which had a bidet and an updated shower stall with handheld showerhead. The neighborhood is not especially pretty, there was graffiti on the outside of the building and our room looked into a courtyard/carpark. You should take the metro to go to any of the sights. To make the most of your time, plan on being out for the whole day, not popping into the hotel between things. The desk staff all spoke English and were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants.
Clean, easy access from the airport, great service
We stayed for 2 nights and had a great experience. Clean room with comfy bed. A little on the small size, but for the price, it's a great deal. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was very helpful throughout our stay. We will stay here again as it's very easy to reach from the airport by using the local train.
Nice Hotel
Nice small hotel out of the way of the hustle and bustle but very close to the train station and the metro. A wonderful breakfast and service is very good. No lift for those requiring that though. Other than that a good pick for a couple of days.
Comfortable hotel close to train and metro
We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip. The reasons we booked initially were cost and good reviews. The reasons we returned were cost, great breakfast (compared to other hotels), and proximity to the train station (literally 5 minute walk, easy) and metro station (again, 5 min and then another 15 min to the centre of Rome). The rooms are nicely decorated, the beds are standard-definitely not as comfortable as home but you will be so exhausted from travel you will sleep fine. The only complaint I had was sound travels through the hotel easily and we were awoken before 8 by the dining area preparing the breakfast. Also, the AC was broken. These are common problems in Italy for this price range of hotels-thin walls and no AC but we would still stay again and recommend it to friends. It's nice after swarms of people to come back to this hotel.
Comfortable hotel with quick access to sights
The hotel is very reasonably priced for quick access to central sights via metro (five minutes walk away). The staff are very helpful and recommended an excellent local non-touristy restaurant. We would certainly stay at the hotel if we visited Rome again.
This is a lovely small hotel located just outside the wall or city center so airport transport voucher ordered online was not helpful. We got a shuttle eventually. But only one block from the subway makes getting around very easy once you get to this charming hotel. Not all hotel staff speaks English but made every effort to assist us. Morning breakfast was fresh and abundant in a pleasant dining room before heading out for the day. The room is very small and the bed and pillows are firm (hard!) but for only three nights and busy days we were fine. Yes, we would stay here again.
Nice little hotel to stay in Rome
We spent 4 nights in this little hotel. It definitely worths recommending. The hotel is just couple minutes walk from the Ponte Lungo metro station. The best part is, it is just 2 blocks away from Tuscolana railway station, which takes you directly to/from Fiumicino airport (40 minutes ride). The neighbourhood is quiet so you can have a good sleep. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I sent 2 emails to ask them about questions regarding the stay, they replied without 30 minutes! The room is clean and comfortable. The downside is, the hotel is in fact a little old, and the Wifi is a bit slow. Overall it has been a pleasant stay.
Not Bad
Good location if (though only if) you'll be frequently using the metro. Staff is helpful, wi-fi works and the air conditioning was a lifesaver (remember to ask for the remote). Very close to the Roma Tuscolana train station (2-3 minute walk) so make sure to go to that station and not Termini to save time and hassle. Note that it's noisy both outside and inside. The maid likes to slam the door, often, and you'll hear it. The free breakfast wasn't bad and we ate there daily to save money. Overall would consider returning, primarily since it's relatively affordable, near both train and metro stations, and working wifi/air conditioning. None have been a given in other places in Europe.
Pretty good
After living in Rome for over a year, I know the neighborhoods pretty well. This one is "okay". There was a lot of graffiti everywhere. It is kind of out in the middle of nowhereland, but we were able to find a couple of good places to eat nearby. The room wasn't bad - the shower was broken, but it still worked just fine. And the bed was hard as a rock. The rooms look pretty nice! Our air conditioning didn't really work. The breakfast was pretty good. The hotel staff was very warm and friendly, although they don't speak english very well, and so I had to translate for everyone. It was pretty close to the metro & train station, just a few minutes walk. I probably won't stay here again - not because it was a bad experience...I just would like to stay in a closer location to centro next time.
Lovely little hotel
On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly, helpful lady who spoke very good English. Our room was a decent size and was very clean, the bathroom was also nice and clean and had a jet shower and bidet. We were provided with towels and toiletries. The double bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together, but had large double blankets and was reasonably comfortable, although we only got 1 pillow each and couldn't find spares anywhere. There is a tv in the room but mainly showed Italian programmes so we didn't watch it. Free Wi-Fi was available and we were given log in details at check-in, this worked very well. There was also a mini fridge but this only had water in it, however it was possible to contact reception for further refreshments if required. There is also a safe provided in the wardrobe which you can programme with your own code, this was free of charge. A breakfast buffet was included which consisted of juices, a choice of tea or coffee, pastries & breads, meats & cheese, fruits & yoghurt and was ample to keep you going. All the staff were friendly and helpful and gave us all the help we needed, including calling a taxi for us one night. Our room was cleaned every day except one which was a public holiday so assume this is why it wasn't done that day. Overall our stay was enjoyable and we have no complaints, but didn't offer enough to gain 5 stars.
small hotel close to public transit
The hotel is close to train and metro station. Convenient if you take train from FCO. However it still quite a bit travel to those tourist attractions.
Great value friendly hotel
From walking in the door all staff friendly & most helpful. Staff gave us great advice on transport, places to visit & eat. Couple of restaurants recommended by hotel were excellent & within 5 mins walk. Price we paid great value considering tasteful decor of hotel & rooms. Enough variety in buffet breakfast to start the day well. Bathroom very nice & modern. Hotel very clean. If returned to Rome would have no hesitation returning to Hotel Tuscolana.
Nice, clean and friendly
If anything, this hotel was clean, staff was nice, breakfast was delicious, and the location was easily accessible to public transportation. We stayed here for a week and found it easily accessible to the train and metro stations to take into town. From the airport (FCO), it's easier (and cheaper) to take the F1 into Tuscolana. The hotel is a block away. The metro is maybe 2 blocks away and is the Ponte Longo station. There are many pizzerias that were great for lunch on the way to the metro. Also, we had 2 wonderful dinners at Osteria del Cavaliere near the hotel. The staff was super friendly, the room was kept clean and tidy. The only downside I would say is the proximity to the city center, but you get what you pay for and a metro pass for 7 days is only 24 euros. This hotel was perfect for our budget and we definitely would recommend adventurous travelers that are on a budget to stay here. Also, their breakfast was awesome.
Close to the train system
Had a good stay. The hotel is in a residential area close to a supermarket, train system and close to several small pizza places. Across to a pharmacy .
Great experience, brill staff.
So handy from the airport as the Roma Tuscolana train station is 2 mins walk. And very easy to get to the Ponte Lungo Metro station.
Metro station is near, so easy to move to the center. Staff is really kind

The rooms were very clean, and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The location is excellent—just 200 meters from the metro station and 40 meters from a bus stop, making it very easy to get around. Breakfast was delicious, with a variety of options to choose from. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to others."
