Fabulous location and beautiful grounds! Walking distance to excellent restaurants, grocery and right on prime area of the beach. Food is fantastic and all staff were all wonderful and helpful. Beware of the "standard garden rooms". They are right on road--no protection from street noise:( Bathrooms are dated, but rooms in general are comfortable. Good place to stay.
We stayed four nights and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance, especially at night on the beach, was a delight.
Bathrooms need renovation! The rest is very good.
The garden room is big with a terrace, recently renewed. The bedding is good and the kitchenette very complete (too bad it is by the bed and not at the closed terrace which would be very convenient. But the bathrooms are terribly dated and they know it, I complained. The fawcetts are old, in awful conditions. The old wood cabinet under the sink only makes things worse, insects love dark humid wood so we had a huge cockroach come out of there. The sink and shower are fully open to also let those disgusting creatures hide and come out of there. Other than that, the location, gardens, pool and beach side are great! Breakfast is nicely served with 2 options: continental and local "tico" breakfast. The funny thing is they offer either juice OR coffee... how much would they spend on offering both like every other hotel? You may also go back to your room and make your own coffee... isn't it the same if offered during breakfast? One more remark. With regards to security. The parking gate is fully open all day, all night. We never saw a guard at the gate, nor is there any way to close it. And the reception is far and closed at night. Some security measures should be taken, at least a code to enter the gate from the open parking lot.
Great Costa Rica stay.
We loved everything about this hotel. Location in Santa Theresa on the beach. Close to shops. Great breakfast. Lovely staff. Great sunsets.
Walkable distance to bars & restaurants. Good choice of food and drink options at the hotel .lovely well- maintained grounds Breakfast was a bit basic & quite small. Altogether a good stay , right on a beautiful beach
Incredible experience
We stayed here for 5 nights and I can’t say enough good things about the hotel! We were in the beachside suite and it was incredible- well worth the money. Very clean, comfortable beds, beautiful pool. The rest of the hotel was also great. Really good yoga classes, good food and one of the most relaxing spas I’ve ever been to. Also, all the staff were wonderful and were very friendly with our kids. Front desk staff was incredibly helpful, just going above and beyond. If you’re going to Santa Teresa I would definitely recommend staying here!
Wonderful 2nd stay at this property! Loved the bungalow near the ocean, super convenient and very large. The food onsite is great with lots of options. The hotel is conveniently located right in the middle of the St Teresa strip, you will never need your car if you are looking for options close by. Amazing stay, would definitely stay here again and again!
Unfriendly receptionist
Sweet spot!
Beautiful property, friendly and attentive staff, with easy access to the beach as well as breakfast , lunch and dinner spots! We will stay here again!
Best hotel in a week long hotel hopping trip
This was the second night of a seven nights hotel hopping trip in Costa Rica, February 2023. Perfect settings, clean rooms, nice friendly service, beautiful beach in front of the restaurant, above average food when compared to expensive resorts. I regret for spending one night here.
Loved this property. It was wonderful from beginning to end. We got to see the howling monkeys too! The only bad thing is the unpaved roads to get to this wonderful piece of heaven. Kayaking is 12 mins away. You must do that while staying here!
This is a beautiful property in the heart of the Tamarindo area. Right on the beach with various pool options, the beautifully landscaped resort offered the perfect hub for an activity filled Costa Rican vacation. We would love to come back. We left the Diria to spend some time in the Nicoya peninsula and we wished we had stayed at the Diria. As beautiful as the nicoya península is, Tanarindo and the Diria had more to offer. Our room was on the across the street area and really I think it’s not worth it to spend the premium to be right on the beach. We had beautiful views from our balcony. The one thing i wish our room had was a towel warmer or some way to get wet suits, towels, or other articles dry. It rained every afternoon and being wet and wearing wet stuff is part of being in the tropics. But it would just be nice to be able to get things dry. Loved the Diria.
Great place and even greater people!
Everyone was super nice and friendly! Great location! Highly recommends staying here
The staff at this hotel are excellent. Any problem we had with our room was resolved within an hour and the staff were extremely responsive over Whatsapp. We stayed in the "glamping suite." Two issues we had was the hot tub continuously had problems and the hot water in the bathroom was unreliable, so I would go in to this unit with the expectation that it will not be perfect. However, the staff were always quick in fixing these issues. I would recommend this hotel.
This was a very unique, relaxing, experience with a very friendly staff! I would definitely recommend this spot for a destination getaway with lots of amenities and services to offer. Each guest has their own unique bungalow. It can get noisier towards the street/if you have guests but the staff was very helpful. Lastly, just be prepared for bugs and a jungle-vibe since you're in the middle of the woods but directly on the beach!! Such a cool experience overall
Best spot in town!
Amazing location right on the beach!
Excellent
Hotel Trópico Latino is located in a beautiful spot, lots of beautiful vegetation and right on the beach. The staff are incredibly helpful and nice. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food is delicious. When we were there, there was a terrific pop-up bar, the Mulberry project and we loved bartender Frederica. We had a two bedroom beachfront unit. It has a very deep, large comfortable covered porch with a large sofa, table and chairs. The room was a bit dark, and the bathroom sorely needs a remodel. Otherwise it was terrific. Well-functioning, quiet AC. The two yoga studios on site are gorgeous — facing the ocean — and the yoga I took was wonderful. I highly recommend this resort.
What a great spot. We saw some shaky reviews but we were so happy. Our room was fantastic, great sunset scene, gorgeous setting and the best yoga studio. I would highly recommend this hotel right on the beach.
Room was filled with mosquitoes, we couldn’t sleep well, constantly killing them
Disappointed
I was disappointed with the service received. The hotel is over priced for what it is.
Beautiful Location
Great location
Great hotel with great staff. Dani at the front desk is very friendly and professional…. The property is well kept and a lot of plants and trees. Easy access the the beach and great food at the restaurant. The location is perfect with lot of shops within walking distance. Highly recommend.
Excellent location
Great location (walking distance to many restaurants and groceries), beautiful beach sunsets, excellent beach and great surfing for various levels of ability.
Joyful Experience
We had a really great time. The hotel is in a beautiful parklike setting. The restaurant is on the beachfront making every meal a joyful experience.
We loved the location of the hotel but for the price we paid and no breakfast included, we were left very dissapointed.
Dream Hotel
Loved our stay at Hotel Tropico Latino. The grounds are beautiful. The room was very clean. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Reception helped us book a tour and the guide was great! Surf instructors were great too! The restaurant at hotel had amazing food. Very close to everything. Highly suggest staying here! Will definitely be back.
The property is right on the water with a beautiful beach. The restaurant staff were veey nice and helpful. The management staff were just going through the motions without follow ups or any extra efforts to make the stay more enjoyable. Property definitely needs updating. The room we stayed in, was old, had broke moldings. The bathtub is on its last leg, the shower head hit my girlfriends head and she is 5'9. Screen doors would have been very usefully so you could actually enjoy the fresh air and i could go on and on.
Glamping
Good stay at the glamping room
Very nice hotel we had the rooftop tent, clean great view private jacuzzi was really nice. Green areas very nicely kept.
Had the best time at trópico! They upgraded us to the beachside villa which is great if you want to hear the sound of the waves crashing in the shore. The staff is incredibly nice and warm and the food is delicious. additionally beach yoga is available daily (great teacher) and the spa is so lovely.
Wonderful stay
Wonderful time at Tropico Latino. The staff were amazing especially Chimi and Holman in the bar who hooked us up with amazing margaritas. The yoga classes were also fantastic. Hermosa beach has great beginner surfing nearby.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff at the restaurant and bar and onsite yoga and Pilates. A very relaxing stay.
Very nice staff and location. The beach was right off the property. The pool was very small but adequate. The room was comfortable with good AC and ocean views. The bathroom was a bit run down. I would stay here again.
Nice place, could be nicer at the price point
The hotel itself is nice, and the restaurant is good. The room was moderately clean, but not as clean as could be and the plumbing was leaky. The bed was pretty bad. The staff is friendly and helpful, but just too few of them. The area is beautiful, but the town has a serious sewage problem to the point that I didn't want to leave the property - walking up the street to find someplace to eat was almost unbearable. And when we found someplace, we sat down and I just had to leave because of the sewage smell. Overall I'll give it 4/5 because it really was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. But it could have been better.
Best location in the Playa Carmen area
Great location right on the beach. One of few hotels in this area that have straight beach access. Quiet and clean. Very nice restaurant and staff. Cool beach party place 50 metres away - not noisy
This is our 3rd time staying here in 3 years (this time with my dad and my wife's parents) and it never disappoints. It's the idea location between Carmen and Santa Teresa, has beautiful grounds, howler monkeys in the trees most mornings, THE friendliest staff, and amazing pool and beach views. Can't recommend this place more to anyone coming to Santa Teresa. Thanks again for the wonderful stay, we'll be back.
Bungalow 8
This hotel is amazing. On the beach and centrally located. Great restaurant and service
Very disappointing hotel. One of the most expensive hotels in our trip and really not worth the price First its not even look like the pictures. We order a superior room with beachfront view and we got small room in the second floor near the parking lot with view to the beach and to the discusting metal roof of the first floor. All the rooms have smell of mold. The kitchen is inside the toilet/bathroom. The wi-fii didn't work most of the time and we had at least 3 electrical blackout. The hotel "facilities" are so expensive it make us laugh. The stuff are not freindly or even try to be. You can replace the towels only once a day (this is the first time in my life that i hear about such thing). The only thing thay is good in this hotel is the pool (that by the way dont even remind the pool in the pictures). Basicly, its an avarage hostel with a price of 5 stars hotel. Realy not recommended.
Beautiful beachfront resort
Beautiful hotel on the beach with secure, guarded parking. Walking distance to town. Yoga and surf lessons offered at hotel. Cons - a little over priced including the restaurant, breakfast not included, yoga class was ended short, rooms near street were noisy.
First off Evelyn was amazing and very helpful. She truly made our honeymoon special. We stayed in the glamping tent and loved every second of it. The hotel is located perfectly between Santa Teresa and Mal Pais and there is a Mercado right across the street for easy access to essentials. We had no issues our entire stay and would definitely go back!
Hotel is right on the beach! Evelyn is very accommodating and make sure each guest is comfortable. Yoga is awesome, each room is private.
Way overpriced
The general hotel condition is fine, well located, but the mattress was old, stained and really hard/uncomfortable (and I like firm mattresses). There was a lot of dust under the bed, some plastic objects. The bed sheets were stained, there was hair. The shower tile grout had mold. The room has a minimal size. In my opinion, it's worth at best half the asking price. In many countries, including elsewhere in Costa Rica, you can get much better for much less. The staff tried to give us another room, a lower quality - ouch !?! can this be true? they changed the bedsheets clean but stained... they really tried there best. The staff was really polite and nice to us. One weird thing though, the toilet had a surprise for its guests. When you sit on it, huge bubbles start coming out of the drain splashing you over.
One of the few ocean front in Playa Carmen
We have only nice things to say about the staff at Hotel Latino Tropicano. The manager up-graded is because of a moisture problem with our original room (she told us about the problem and we never even checked in that room). The hotel is nice but everything in Santa Teresa is more expansive than in other places we have been so we felt this room was not worth the $300 we would normally have paid for. That being said it is a good option for the area.
A little piece of tropical heaven
I loved it. It is a perfect location for surfing as you can walk left or right out of Hotel onto the beach and choose your the peak that suits you. Yoga classes are held daily for the non surfers of the party. Day beds and hammocks are on the beach for relaxing and watching the sunset. The garden had some pretty impressive iguanas wandering about. We didn’t see much other wildlife around apart from a few birds, but the gardens were really pretty with bright splashed if colour. The staff were really friendly and helpful without being pushy in any way. If you go in or just after the rainy season use the north route as the rivers flood the roads on the coastal road making it impassable in places. I would definately return. The hotel is probably not for the budget traveller as the restaurant is certainly worth eating at but may be a bit expensive for those travelling on a budget
Incredible staff and facilities. Located steps away from one of the most amazing beaches in the world!
So grateful we found this gem.
Our stay was short but Great. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. The Sous chef served excellent food. Kitchen staff was the best alone with the bar staff. The front desk young lady was so friendly and helped us book our ATV rentals. We truly felt at home. We are definitely planning on going back. Our friends that stay in the connecting room, Silvia Posada and her sister felt the same. Absolutely the best place to eat and stay. Thank you
Great location
Great location in the heart of Santa Teresa. The site includes a great pool and beach area as well as restaurant and yoga area overlooking the beach. We stayed in a garden suit. The rooms are simple but have everything you need.
beqchfront rooms on a private jungle.
Private, quiet, spacious rooms/ bungalows on a piece of land which feels like your own little jungle. You have a beautiful view of the ocean from the pool, restaurant and yoga area. Staff -the friendliest and most helpful we've had on our CR trip( this is our fourt hotel/ area.) Food amazing - we tried it all- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even if you don't stay here go to their restaurant. Best food in CR !
Perfect location next to beach
Wonderful staff and delicious food! Loved the hammocks on the beach and surf spots in front of hotel.
Beautiful view not so great rooms
The photos are not accurate. The sunset is even better but the room is so much worse. It isn't a bad place, it just isn't what it presents itself to be. You basically pay for being on the beautiful beach. The room is rough but ok for one night. The smell of mildew is overwhelming unless you have the ac on which freezes the person under it out. We were put out in room 11 which was right by loud road. Other rooms might be different but weren't available. I asked for tour info and the receptionist never responded. Basically I have no idea where the image on the website ever was. Never saw that. I did see an amazing beach and sunset.
Home away from home...
My husband has been coming to Tropico Latino since the very first time I booked him here approximately 2 years ago. The staff is extremely warm and truly care that you feel at home. At this point he wouldn't stay anywhere else. And the surfing is the best!
Got a very bad room. Smelled, no a/c unless you were in the room and had to be turned on with room key. Shower drain didn't even have a cover on it. Looked like mold on the wall. No ice available at hotel. Room was 30 feet from very loud road. Found out later that it was an unsafe time to visit that certain area. Cancelled the last 3 nights of my 4 night stay. Hotel did give me a full refund, which was very nice and unexpected.
Perfect location, nice gardens
Everything is nice, just The swimming pool needs an area to take Sun
the place and the people are incredible!!!! it's a magical place - no words can describe how special santa teresa is - you have to go experience it for yourself.
Very nice hotel in Santa Teresa.
We really enjoyed the Tropico Latino. It is set up like a group of bungalows in a beachside tropical garden. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Twenty four hour security and an excellent restaurant and bar. The staff at the restaurant were super attentive, and the food was very good. The pool was very clean and refreshing and of course the beach was amazing. We would definitely stay there again and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Fabulous
This is one of the nicest hotels in Santa Teresa. Beautiful bungalows, awesome service. Pure bliss. Beware when going to Santa Teresa though that the roads are extremely bad (rocky, full of potholes, crevaces, steep, turbulent, etc).
Chill, rustic getaway with great restaurant staff
We found what we were looking for in Danta Teresa, chill, rustic, very laid back. The restaurant staff was wonderful. The qfood was good. The beach is rocky at El Tropico Latino, but a 15 minute beach walk takes you to a beautiful, sandy beach with surf instructors, and more people. This is near the part of Satnta Teresa that has shopping, and more restaurants. We loved the chill vibe at El Tropico Latino.
Excellent attention and customer care. The food and drinks were great. Recommended for family with kids as it is easier to get in and out of the beach.
Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches.
Beautiful grounds and good location right on the beach. Very rustic. This area may be the most beautiful part of Costa Rica, with many perfect and isolated beaches. The hotel has a very good restaurant and there are a few good restaurants in the small town. Was very impressed with a restaurant called Pure in Santa Teresa. The owner and Chef served us himself and the food was excellent. Roads are almost all dirt and in ill repair but that only adds to the rustic experience. My only complaint about the hotel was the lack of a TV in my room.
Great Costa Rican Beach Escape!
Perfect choice for a stay in Santa Teresa. Remote, bumpy road to a rather secluded "town" of great eateries, surf spots, yoga retreats. Top notch cabinas; very nice restaurant! Beautiful garden grounds. Fun beach combing spot. Shells galore. Rough for swimming; great for surfers. Sunsets, birds, iguanas, heard Howler Monkeys ----relaxation 5 star!!
Great staff. Beautiful beach. Great town and people.
nice hotel.. food not so good compared to the restaurants in town
beautiful location near the beach.
It was great place, people were accomodating. The view is amazing.
Nice hotel close to the beach
Great location close to beach, rooms could do with a bit of updating, Staff friendly and food good,
Beautiful location!
It was great, no complaints. We had a great time!
just perfect
Great beach, great spa, friendly people...love it.
This is the ONLY place to stay when you visit!
After a seriously disappointing stay in Guiones, Hotel Tropical Latino was an amazing surprise. Located directly on the beach, the rooms were big, clean, and the air conditioning was icy cold. WiFi is widely available and free, too! Sincerely, I can't say enough good things about this property. The food was delicious, I ate breakfast and dinner there every day of my stay, and their 30 minutes from Montezuma, making a day trip to surf a perfect outing. They offer Yoga, a wide range of massage and spa treatments, and breakfast on the beach is a great way to start your day. Yvette, at the front counter, made sure all my needs were met and my expectations exceeded. I can't wait for my next visit!!!
Cool oasis in a busy street town
Peaceful beachfront hotel with a wonderful staff. Make sure to eat in the Shambala restaurant for dinner. With a 1 Michlin star chef, it was the most creative and delicious meal ever!
Great for surfing or yoga
Great hotel with surging directly to left or right of hotel beach. Yoga overlooks ocean on beach.
we didn't want to leave!!
This hotel may be a little hard to find. It's on the main strip but the sign is very small. Other than it being a little harder to find I highly recommend this hotel. You get your own hammock per room. The pool has an amazing temperature, the bar is directly next to it and the view of the ocean is breathtaking. Get the mojito. You will not be disappointed and be sure to check out the beach which you can swim in for hours. Also on the beach is a bar called Banana beach bar. Go there for sunset cocktails. Do not miss out on this hotel. Evelyn was extremely helpful and we will be back for sure. The perfect romantic getaway for me and my girlfriend. Thank you!!!
Good beach, mediocre hotel
Tropico Latino is on an excellent beach. We spent a lot of time on the beach, and it was fantastic. The room was small, with concrete floors. This typically wouldn't have been a problem, but we were on our honeymoon. The room was not quite what we expected from the pictures. Everything else was great, including the restaurant. Holler goes to Roberto at Tropico Latino, very friendly and helpful. I would go again, but only by myself or with friends.
Amazing experience at Hotel Tropico
We had an incredible stay at the Hotel Tropico Latino. Beautiful and clean rooms with large porches, located next to many restaurants, walking distance to everything, very friendly and professional staff, and beautiful beach right outside the hotel! I highly recommend this hotel and am looking forward to staying there again on the next visit!
Wonderful! Location was right on the beach! Staff was friendly and helpfull.
A bit disappointing
First of all - understand it's a eeally long drive down a very bumpy unpaved road The view was nice and the covered outdoor area is the best part of the room. But - there was no hot water, the beach wasn't as pretty as other places we have stayed on this trip, the room was pretty basic (not even a chair) and we were not very impressed with their restaurant. That's alot of negatives for such a high price, I believe we probably should have done a little more research.
Close to beach
Had room 11 back of hotel, wasn't so much road noise ,off sea.son but staff live next door TV and dogs barking late at night.woulnt pay the price for that, moved to somewhere half the price nice and quiet.
Fabulous Vacation in Santa Teresa
We enjoyed our time very much in Santa Teresa. The hotel was exactly what we expected and will hopefully return in the near future.
Perfect Getaway
This hotel exceeded our expectations. I felt like I was on a remote getaway. I stayed in one of their rooms in the garden and it was absolutely beautiful! It was like having a private cabin to ourselves. Our friends stayed in a beachfront unit and although it was wonderful, I preferred the garden. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was kept very clean. I would definitely recommend it.
Relaxing getaway right on the beach
We chose Hotel Tropico Latino for our honeymoon stay in Santa Teresa, and it was gorgeous. We went with the beach bungalow, which I would highly recommend for anyone who's looking for some quiet privacy with a personal hammock and a very nearby beach. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food at the hotel restaurant is pricey but really delicious and worth trying at least once. I loved that you could have drinks brought to you right on the beach all afternoon. And the beach is mostly sandy with very few rocky parts - a lot of strong waves, though, and great for surfing if you're into it. While in itself being very private and relaxing, the hotel's location is conveniently located along the same road as many local sodas, bars and supermarkets, and it is also easy to rent an ATV and take a day trip to see Montezuma Falls. We also used a local tour agency to take a day trip to Tortuga Island for snorkeling, and went horseback riding at a nearby ranch. So, there's tons to see and do, and yet the option to absolutely do nothing and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the warm ocean breeze. I would highly, highly recommend it, and hope to get back there again someday!
Great Santa Teresa location
In general it was very good. Staff was outstanding and the quality and value of the food at the on site resturant were great. A short walk from up town where there are other great places to eat. On one of the best streaches of beach in the area.
The reservations
When we arrived they couldn't find the second reservation They called the manager and good think I had kept the expedia confirmation. They found a room but we had to move to another after 2 days. No hot water in i room for 2 days . The toilet was plug in i room . General housekeeping needed work but setting was beautiful. A great resort that needed some simple maintanence
Not worth the price... look elsewhere.
This hotel was disappointing overall. The grounds were overgrown, traffic was loud, and the neighbors dog barked all morning. The rooms were outdated, the bed very old, and the cleanliness was questionable. The restaurant was forgettable, and the beach really not as nice as expected. Given that getting to Santa Teresa is a long, strenuous trip down some atrocious roads, we wish we had booked something else. We did have dinner at Nectar one night, it is at Hotel Flor Blanca, and were very sad that we had not stayed there instead. Dinner there was fantastic and the hotel seemed immaculate - the difference was night and day.
lost in paradise
Hotel Tropico Latino is hard to get to but worth every bit of effort. A beach paradise second to none.
Great location
We stayed here at the end of October so the hotel was nice & quiet at night. There was some construction going on so the condition of the place wasn't as high, but it was the rainy season after all. Nice staff, helpful & friendly. There is a spa and yoga which is great. Yoga would also be better in the dry season as classes got cancelled and had low attendance when I was there. Great location right on the beach (we had a beach bungalow). Also close to the other local beaches, shops, cafés etc.
First beach stop on our honeymoon
This place was great! Well decorated and maintained, two steps from the water (ocean view from our little bungalow was exceptional). Extremely accommodating service all around. In particular at the restaurant, who's chef mixes Indian ingredients with Costa Rican food to build a truly original menu. Amazing massages for my wife and I with the sound of waves crashing in the background.
Paradise for couples
This was a hotel picked entirely at random for a spur-of-the-moment adventure, and we're so, so happy we found this one.....a true keeper. From the extremely kind and accommodating staff to the jaw-droppingly beautiful location, with the amenities offered and restaurant in-house, the Hotel Tropico Latino satisfied every last wish and ones we didn't even know we had. For example, there are a number of pleasant pups roaming freely throughout the grounds (as can be found in any town in Costa Rica), and my husband and I "adopted" one for the week. We went during their rainy season, and even when the power went out briefly that didn't stop the staff from providing an amazing meal with excellent service. This is officially our home whenever we head down there!
Paradise
We had the most amazing experience staying at Tropico Latino. Hugo helped us arrange every excursion. The staff was helpful and shared in our daily adventures! I have two boys 8 and 10 years old, they did not want to leave and honestly I did not either! This was a trip to paradise!
Family Getaway
The staff at Hotel Tropico Latino was wonderful and very accommodating. Not a lot of other kids around, but it is the slower season so the hotel was not very busy. Plenty to do nearby, and Santa Teresa is a beautiful place, but be sure to rent a car to get around since it is fairly isolated. Yoga on the beach at sunset was amazing! Overall, it was a nice, quiet family getaway.
Tropical oasis
Felt like I was in jungle hotel. Amazing location on the beach.
Great location and very beautiful hotel. TVs would be the icing on the cake as well as a phone to use all the time. WiFi worked half the time and staff was soso depending on which one you got. I would def go back for the batidos brought to you while swimming in the pool or watching the sunset in a beach chair. It is right on the beach, great food too.
Authentic and luxurious, right on the beach
Hotel Tropico Latino is fantastic, and I can be fussy about hotels. Across the board, the hotel is a perfect balance of genuine Costa Rican and straight-up luxury. The highlights: The pool - good size, deep, overlooking the ocean Lounge areas - well maintained, diverse, spacious, casual, gorgeous The restaurant/bar - beautiful and the staff are stellar The grounds - well thought-out, well maintained; iguanas roaming The spa/yoga - picturesque, right on the beach; also probably the best facial and massage I've ever had The rooms - free-standing (or with one other) cabin style with vaulted ceilings and pretty bath tile; fridge, which not all CR hotels have. Monkeys (high up) in the trees right near the room! Location - ON the ocean. one of the few. across the street from a market. Hotel is nicely recessed from the road. Fabulous space for a group of singles, a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. Hotel doesn't have too many rooms, so the place is never crowded. Prices are fair and reasonable.
Great beach front hotel in Santa Teresa
We are family of 5 and spent four days at the Hotel Tropico Latino. The staff was very friendly and rooms were clean and pleasant. We had a room on the outside of the facility which did get some road noise (dirt bikes and four wheelers). Small relaxing pool area and great beach! We enjoyed watching (from our front porch hammocks) family of Howler monkeys make their way through the tree tops each evening! Located across the street from small market which was very convenient for snacks and drinks.
Will come back!
We loved staying here. The vibe of the town is unbeleivable, so fun and everyone is so nice. Only thing to watch out is that it seems the three different people that work the front desk can tell you three different things; I understand they want to be helpful but it is confusing and makes it hard to communicate with them.
Great place to spend a few days
The hotel was exactly what we were looking for! Right on the beach, clean, close to town, and relaxing. Hugo, the guy who checked us in was super cool and very helpful. The staff made us feel welcome and were all friendly and hospitable. Even the gardener, Martine, made us feel like a local! The grounds were beautiful with tons of wildlife. The property is safe as it is patrolled by a friendly security gaurd, Jesus. We didnt have much of an issue with the language barrier so that was a relief. The rooms were a little close to the road, so the noise was fairly constant. I'd recommend spending more money on the rooms closer to the beach if the noise would keep you up at night. We were so tired at the end of the day, it was not an issue.
A little slice of paradise
Our stay here was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica (Nicoya Peninsula only). The hotel is right on Playa Carmen with the restaurant and pool overlooking the beach. The restaurant servers delicious food throughout the day, and they server drinks out on the beach as well. They also offer yoga classes in palapa right on the beach, which is an amazing setting for a yoga practice. Playa Carmen itself met all of our needs too. My wife and I enjoyed surfing the nice break, while our 2 year old kept busy playing in the tide pools created by a small set of rocks on the beach. Tropico Latino also has lounge chairs and hammocks set up in the palm trees providing a wonderful area to relax and escape the sun for a bit. It had everything we were looking for, and although we like to try new places whenever we travel, we're considering going back again next year!
Oasis on the beach
The hotel was amazing, we were steps from the beach. The staff was very nice and helpful a with any questions. The rooms were always cleaned and well maintained.
Hotel on Playa Santa Teresa.
Very happy with the "garden view bungalow" that we reserved for the week. The room had 2 comfortable king beds and one single bed. The room was spacious and had a nice large shower. Hugo in the reception office was exceptionally helpful in making restaurant and tour arrangements for us and his recommendations were all superb. The receptionist at check-out had a lot of difficulty getting our bill correct. She initially insisted that I had to pay for the room, even though we'd booked (and of course paid for) the room through Expedia. She also "wasn't aware" that travelers checks could be used for the portion of the payment that required paying cash (tours), so I'd recommend that you take your Expedia receipt with you and just to be cautious that your check out amount is calculated correctly. She changed the amount due four times. I'd not recommend the restaurant here. It's overpriced and the food is subpar - with one exception. Michelle at the bar (in the restaurant) makes the best Mojito that we have ever tasted. We were not able to determine what her secret was but we asked that she share her recipe with the other bartenders at the Tropico Latino! We were also very happy with the central location of the Tropico Latino. There's a grocery store directly across the street and it is an easy 10 minute walk to the bakery for breakfast or to many sodas or restaurants for lunch or dinner. Overall, I'd say that this is a near perfect accommodation on Playa Santa Teresa.
First trip to Costa Rica
Very good hotel. We enjoyed the beach in this location very much. With nice hammocks, great surfing opportunities, and excellent drink service, it made for a great experience.
