This is a reliable and well-priced hotel conveniently located just across from the Chinatown Gate on Grant Avenue. I stay here whenever I’m in San Francisco because of its affordable rates and excellent location. The rooms are clean, the environment feels safe, and overall, it offers great value for the money.
Nice position, easy walk to Union Square. Clean and comfortable room. Very helpful staff.
All good
Great location, accessible (for our wheelchair) and staff are friendly and helpful. Shonnie and others provided excellent tips about the city and there is a great cafe and a gelato place next door. Appreciate the filtered water fountain on the 6th floor and the walk-in extra large bathroom with beautiful hardware/safety rails.
Wonderful hotel
This is my go to hotel when in San Francisco. Great location, staff and overall wonderful hotel.
We had friends fly in and meet us for the weekend. It was an excellent spot to introduce our friends to San Fran. They want to come back to the hotel and bring their family. We really appreciated the staff and their thoughtfulness.
The staff were very friendly and professional. I really like the Hotel Triton!
Great location, friendly staff and free wine 4 to 6 every evening.
good value for location
Comfortable hotel in good location. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast could use a little work, but no other complaints. Good value.
Poor breakfast, no room service, bad baths without ventilation an no sink
nice
This place is funky. Very cool staff. I like the rooms. It's probably not for everybody. You need to understand that San Francisco boutique hotels are different. If you don't want corky then you need to go stay the Holiday Inn. Personally I like how unique these places are. This place is at the entrance of Chinatown. Depending on what you're doing this might be a great location for you. It's right where the high-end shopping is. It's on Bush Street which is a good Street to be on. Again, these individually owned boutique hotels are all about the experience. It's cool. They all have their own flavor and it's fun exploring them. I've stayed at more than a dozen within the city.
Weekend Trip to San Francisco
Our stay here was great. The location is perfect for walking to nearby restaurants and easy spot to pick up ride shares. Our room was clean and comfortable and the front desk waa always friendly and professional. As noted, the breakfast is continental and your morning coffee is in the lobby. We used the fitness center and for the size it is decently equipped although bleak as it's in the basement. Overall I would recommend Hotel Triton and would stay here again.
Good option in SF
Room was very nice, though a bit cold (had to run the loud heater most of the time). Nice view of Chinatown. Breakfast very basic.
Great location, great staff. Cocktail hour is a plus. We have stayed here twice and will be back
Return trip
We love the Triton. Perfect location, excellent staff, comfortable rooms, and wonderful hospitality.
My partner is in a wheelchair, and although the hotel is ADA compliant and accessible, the chair only just fit through the door and we couldn't even get it around to the side of the bed he's used to sleeping on. Cramped quarters. Otherwise a fine place - although I did hate seeing The Epoch Times in the lobby. It's an ultra-rightwing consipiracy tabloid.
Nicely modernized old hotel
EZ quick check in. Also EZ check out when we left. Nice "happy hour" with a free glass of wine too!
.
Bed was hard, AC would shut off randomly at night. Woke sore and sweating multiple times a night. Shower curtain had multiple inches of clearance off the ground, soaking the ground and making the smooth bathroom tile dangerously slick. Convenient location for everything I needed and a generous happy hour in the lobby. I wouldn’t stay there again though.
Close to Fidi
Great location for my needs, and love having a workout room. The bed & pillows were not very comfy though, and wish there was oatmeal or yogurt or something more substantial for breakfast. overall, i'd stay again with the great location and VERY friendly staff! Everyone I encountered was so nice.
Great staff memebers
Very clean . For our trip is was near of alot of places we wanted to see. The staff us very friendly
Older hotel with small rooms, centrally located
Older place with small rooms, but comfortable. Centrally located and generally quiet. View was internal to other hotel rooms, but meant it was probably quieter. Lots of local shops nearby to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner. Happy hour drinks each afternoon.
I would have liked my room cleaned each day and would like some eggs and bacons for breakfast and would not mind paying a bit for that.
Good price but high extras. Sleep damaging alarm
Nice hotel in good location for me with nice amenities like wine, grab and go breakfast even a bonus cocktail. Basic price was very good but the resort fee was high. A loud alarm went off in a room nearby and continued for about at hour disrupting sleep badly. When I went to the lobby to report it, the desk clerk said “I know, the manager had been notified and will be here in the morning.” implying it would keep going all night and she and the manager didn’t care. She would not give me another room so it was very upsetting. It was fixed about an hour after it started but it left bad feelings in what would otherwise have been a nice stay. Hint: the valet parking is very expensive but the Stockton garage is only a half block away.
I cannot imagine staying anywhere else - the people are great, the location is perfect, and the property has everything you could ever need.
Clean!!!
A fairly good deal in this area
Family trip. Average 3 star hotel,a bit run down, small room with two queens and a tiny tiny bathroom. Only towels for two people if 2 of 4 booked guests are teenagers. Complementary breakfast is coffee, tea, juice, granolabar, toast,Eggos, muffin and a fruit. No allergy options, no protein. Parking is a public parkinghouse on the next block.
Location is wonderful, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the place smells amazing and most importantly happy hour is the best!! Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
It was okay.
The receptionist was very short and rude. Upon checking in, she made some snarky comments that were offensive. While parking wasn’t too far, it is not on the property. Be ready to pay $42 to park it overnight or $65 (plus tip) for valet. The room and beds were tiny! Definitely not queen size. We asked for coffee and the machine was never brought to us. The breakfast was subpar.
According to the website, you’re supposed to get drink vouchers as a vip amenity. Never received anything. Additionally, I know upgrades are based on availability, there were premium rooms available and I wasn’t upgraded (not a big deal), but still would have been nice. The worst part was the guy who checked us in, never gave us his name, slightly offended us. He saw two guys checking in and asked if a king bed was needed, even though I specifically booked a king bed. Not the best first impression
Old, but still pretty good.
This building is old old old old old old old. Everything creaks, nothing shuts quite right, the doors open out into the hallway, you gotta pay attention! The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, it was an attractive room, it was just old. Not poorly kept, just old!
One night SF trip. Triton was perfect!
Great accommodations
Nice property and good location! The staff is excellent! My only critique is that the rooms were too small and the breakfast wasn’t great!
I was charge an extra 37$ per night for Urban Amenity Fee for services that we did not used such as the gym. The quality of the breakfast was very low. I would not even considered the offer as breakfast included.
I stay here three or four times a year! The Hotel Triton is a reliable, reasonably priced, safe and clean hotel located right next to the Chinatown gate on Grant Ave. It’s always a pleasure to come back!
Friendly person at the desk, but the room was small and very dark. The location was very convenient for where I needed to be. Unfortunately the mattress on the bed was sloped due to over use and I woke up with a bad back and will need to have it adjusted which is a shame as I had a lot of walking to do the next day. Overall an average stay for me.
The only thing that would need improving are the sleeping pillows. They are currently very lumpy.
Good location. Odd room design, could do with more power points to charge tech and towel rails for drying.
Unique Boutique Hotel
First class, personal service in a unique boutique hotel just outside of Chinatown. Guests feel like family with Helaine at the desk, no request too small- Room was a bit tight, but well appointed.
The hotel is walking distance close to my office and there are plenty of places to eat and drink that are also walking distance. The staff was very friendly and I appreciated the daily happy hour and the complimentary water that is provided.
Everyone at reception was super nice and the lobby area was very cool! There's a little karaoke bar right across the street and the location makes it great for getting a night shot of the dragon's gate all lit up if you like that kind of thing! The architecture in downtown San Francisco is just a vibe.
I am very happy with my stay. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable.
Shonnie was super nice at check in. Loved the gelato place right next door. Super close to Chinatown. Filtered water was excellent.
I hope you're an early riser - cause they don't restock the breakfast. Came down at 8:45 am to find everything gone, asked the front desk and they said they'd bring some more up, but never bothered. It's not a huge thing, but kind of soured my stay there. If you pay for breakfast, and you show up during breakfast hours, seems reasonable to expect to get some breakfast.
Brit’s in the USA
Lovely hotel in ideal position. Staff really friendly. Free water a bonus as was happy hour with good choice of wine and beer.
We thought that we had picked a room with at least a sitting chair so that one of us at least could read. Not so. We had to read and use the computer while sitting on the bed. Never again.
Well located within 10min walk of tram and BART. Clean property is great condition. Would stay again
Wish there was better communication with staff and guests
Will surely stay there again & wll recommend.
The Triton was a unique, friendly, artsy and comfortable place to stay near chinatown San Francisco. Parking was just down the block and is safe, clean and conveient. The staff are wonderful and always kind with a smile to helpful. The hotel is truly wonderful and one a of a kind stay near many food options. I would totally staty there in every time I hope to visit San Francisco.
We had a great stay! The staff at this hotel are super friendly and always helpful! We would definitely come back! The location is great accessible to Chinatown, high end shopping (if that’s what you want) and a 30 minute walk to fisherman’s wharf.
Great time
Great service
It was directly across from China town, making it an excellent location.
Hotel is located close to several shops and restaurants, including the fantastic Cafe de la Presse and Amorino Gelato right next door, where discounts are offered for guests staying at the Hotel Triton. Booked room and communal facilities were clean and well-maintained. Staff were professional, courteous, and happy to give recommendations on local sightseeing and eating spots.
Nice stay but could use a little more comforts
Nice place but it would be great to not have to leave the room each morning to go get a cup of coffee. Maybe consider putting a coffee service in each room like most hotels?
It was great
very nice hotel for the price that we paid.
Dirty
Convenient place to stay.
Been a while since I stayed here. Has maintained standards and would definitely stay again. Easily walkable to Chinatown and Union Square. Quick ride to Fishermans Wharf. Close to many nice restaurants.
The visit was fine. The hotel gave me information about staying longer, but would have charged a fee for a later checkout.
Good, central hotel with misleading breakfast.
Great location, nice room although a little small. Very good reception service and happy hour perk. But very let down on the "continental" breakfast, which is just a tiny room with paper plates and lots of different bread and packaged jams/condiments. There was also nowhere to sit as the room was so tiny, so ate in my bedroom, but the room wasnt cleaned as housekeeping is done upon request which means I couldn't give them enough notice to clean my room. Definitely the worst breakfast experience ive had in recent memory.
The location is great as it is close to many areas to visit. The free happy hour was a hit and such a great way to meet the other visitors from all over the world. By far, HELENA is the best staff member. She constantly went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
Great staff and place. The breakfast service had only one oven toaster and the room was very small which caused lomg lines in the morning
Nice hotel.
We had a fine stay at Hotel Triton. It was a nice walking distance to the bus station, and a quick bus ride to the main tourist attractions by the wharf. The room was very small, but clean. The beds were actually full size, rather than the queen size that they advertised. They had water and ice on different floors, which made for a lot of elevator traveling. The tissues were very rough, so you may want to bring your own. The breakfast was basic muffins and croissants with very little seating. We took food back to our room. Note that there are separate fees for parking and a "resort fee." The parking is secure and close, but expensive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but some things could be improved.
Very nice location
Just bad
Dog barking right next to us all night so hard to sleep and had a business meeting at 7am and just fees they hit us with
There was a cutout circle in the shower stall glass near the shower head that caused water to go all over the floor which was an interesting design choice. Other than that, great stay, very friendly staff, great location.
Buena ubicación
Buen hotel, buena ubicacion. Solo deberian especificar que el estacionamiento esta en otro edificio.
I stay at Hotel Triton two to three times a year and have gotten to know it well. It offers great value for money, is safe, clean, and conveniently located. It’s always reliable! The proximity to Chinatown, North Beach, and downtown is fantastic. Having Café de la Presse right downstairs makes it even better – I always eat breakfast there. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the downtown area!

Staff was nice and very helpful
This is a charming, quaint, European-feel hotel. The room was tight but well-appointed, and the hotel is within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see and do.
They provide happy hour of free beer and wine.
My stay here was amazing staff was great hotel was clean and it's in a very convenient area.
We opted for the valet parking, which was an external service but was very prompt regardless and gave us some peace of mind. Rooms are very small and the air con is loud, but service and the lobby were excellent and the continental breakfast is a big plus for busy mornings.
The staff was awesome. But it was a pity to hear the voice of the corridor.
Great property with an edge. We will be back!
We had a wonderful few days staying at Triton. The rooms were nice looking and clean. The linens and beds were very comfortable.
We loved staying at Hotel Triton!
Hotel Triton SF
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location close to public transport and attractions. Limited number of tables for breakfast. Local area felt safe.
Overall pleasant stay. Continental breakfast could be a little better, but great hotel.
A unique hotel with boutique decor in a safe and walkable area for our family. Enjoyed the breakfasts and happy hours also.
Well designed and friendly boutique hotel that was in perfect location in Financial District. Would stay again - very welcoming and accommodating staff, comfortable rooms and lots of great restaurants nearby.
Amazing hotel! Super staff, location, gorgeous design, comfortable, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great proximity to Union square, Bart, embarcadero and Chinatown
A no-fuss business hotel - but would be good if there is a small work desk in the room or lobby area.

Small
Very nice hotel, great location but expect small. We had a double bed room and it was small but comfortable. The bathroom however was way too small. The sink is outside of the toilet and shower room. The toilet and shower room was way too small. You can hardly step in it and shut the door without stepping into the shower to be able to close the door comfortably. I am a small 5'2, 140 lbs and could barely fit to close the door, bednding weirdly without stepping into shower, my sister had to step into the shower. So be prepared for that. I expect larger rooms (suites or King bedrooms) probably have bigger bathrooms. Also, there is no parking attached to hotel but a local parking garage (White House Garage) was very very close. Hope this helps.
Nice stay for a business trip. Very quiet and everything needed was walkable.
Great value
Charming retro hotel right next to Chinatown. Rooms were small but clean and the location was excellent. Staff was great.
Great location BUT dangerous shower
We were happy with the location, elevators and lobby decor. The bed was comfortable and we liked the opportunity to have breakfast and happy hour included. The included continental breakfast did not have decaf coffee nor butter available. The biggest concern though was the shower which had only a half glass door and the water consistently flooded the bathroom floor, which was marble and became VERY slippery. We noticed a mildew smell when we entered the room and the bottom of the bathroom door was actually rotted. When we spoke to the front desk, they said this was the “modern way” to enclose a shower. It was room 701. We needed to use the bathroom door and towels to block the flow of water onto the rest of the bathroom floor. It was very uncomfortable.
Nice rooms, great location and very helpful staff. Only problems we had was with a dripping shower head and a bathroom door that would not lock. There was also a weird smell in the lobby, probably from cleaning.
First things first, this is not a 4* hotel (no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms and you have to request housekeeping 24 hours in advance). All the staff we encountered were lovely and made great recommendations - they even comp upgraded us for our honeymoon. Pay a visit to Roxanne Cafe, just 2 blocks away as they serve a great breakfast. We did this twice and the carb-heavy options from the hotel (muffins, croissants, bagels, whole fruits and juices accompanied urns of coffee & hot water) were too much for us 4 days in a row. Strange decor in ‘the study’ where this is served, seems this room was missed off the renovations 4 years ago! Our bedroom was cosy but adequate, the bed was huge! Blackout blinds & curtains kept the light out and we had a great city view. We slept very well all 4 nights. A standard 12pm checkout is also generous for a city hotel and we greatly appreciated this. Happy hour - a nice touch but there’s a catch…you have to pay an ‘urban amenity fee.’ The hotel claim this is advertised on all booking sites (which checking Expedia it’s listed as a ‘resort fee’), however they then use posters in the lift saying ‘complimentary happy hour’ or ‘complimentary breakfast.’ It’s not complimentary if you’re paying $42 a day for it! We did argue this on checkout and they kindly reduced the charge to 2 nights, rather than 4. I also wasn’t happy paying this as they tried to claim it as tax, to which I laughed and said no it’s not! 2 nights was better than 4 tho.
The staff was extremely understanding when I advised them that there was a rodent in my room. I was promptly moved rooms when I informed the front desk at almost 1 am on May 23. However, I've since reached out to speak with a manager and have never received a response. The hotel has a rodent problem, yet it's clearly not serious enough to follow up with a guest. Management seems like it need to get cleaned out and replaced because the rest of the staff seemed to understand my frustration.

We loved our stay at hotel triton! Staff were super kind and hotel was very clean and modern! Gelato place next door was yummy too.
