My two-night stay at Hotel Tikal Inn was mixed. While conveniently located just a ten-minute walk from Tikal's magnificent ruins, several issues detracted from the experience. Pre-arrival communication was problematic, with emails and messages often unanswered for 3 days. I received incorrect information about Tikal ticket purchasing options and was quoted an inflated $100 for airport transfer while a nearby hotel offers more affordable shuttle options. The property shows signs of neglect with cobwebs on windows, ceilings, and walls. My shower had mineral buildup causing an uncomfortable water stream. While rooms are generally clean, maintenance needs improvement. I stayed in room B11, which was clean but lacked the mosquito netting visible in other rooms. When requested, staff claimed my bed was "too large" for netting, resulting in uncomfortable nights disturbed by mosquitoes. The staff were pleasant and engaging in person. All meals I enjoyed at the property were consistently good. The hotel does offer an outdoor pool which is a nice amenity. Internet connectivity was limited to common areas only, despite advertisements of "free Wi-Fi" creating inconvenience for planning activities. While Hotel Tikal Inn has potential given its prime location, management should address these issues to improve the guest experience and better reflect its position as a gateway to one one of Guatemala's most treasured archaeological sites.

Mixed bag

Room was basic but nice and clean Especially the location by the pool. Pool was nice despite a few dead bugs which is expected in a rainforest. Bed comfy with good quality cotton linen. Service was mixed. On arrival the reception was helpful. They even sorted a guide for our sunrise tour. However, I tried on 4 occasions to contact the hotel via direct email and via hotels.com messages multiple days before arrival with no reply. I ended up getting an airport transfer from the Jungle lodge hotel next door. This was quite stressful as Flores airport is very small with limited options to get to tikal. (There weren't even any taxis when we arrived, without the jungle lodge we would have been stuck). The reception and dining area was also very dated and food very basic and bland. We went to the Jungle lodge for food and found the restaurant much nicer.ans service better, even if the price was higher.

Hotel without electricity! but inside Tikal park.

I know it is not the hotel fault, but there was not light when we got there at 8pm, it was complete dark. there was a small lamp and that is it. Very uncomfortable. I think they only have power from 6-8am, 12-2pm and then from 4-6pm. I guess that is the price to stay in Tikal park.

Good enough for morning hike, don’t expect luxury

Hotels was not good at communicating via messages, therefore we didn’t know we for sure had a room until we drove hours to get there. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The staff told us to be careful for tarantulas and snakes (which is normal being in a forest), but the room door was so warped on the bottom right that any bugs, mosquitoes, tarantulas, or spiders would have come in. Bathroom has cracked In the cement, with the area next to window missing a large chunk of concrete. Shower head was packed around lime and calcification.

Beautiful place , do not set your expectations too high, no TV, limited electricity, they run the place on a generator and turn off power twice a day. Staff super nice clean make sure you ask for a room w a/c thank me later, it’s only 20 bucks more dollars. Lobby and pool area only place you get WiFi. Bring a portable speaker for pool area. Easy walking to the Ruins which is why you come here. Would I stay here again? YES

The hotel was a great base to explore the Tikal ruins from, being only about a 10 minute walk from the temple ruins. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was good enough, but the WiFi signal in my room was weak, and like all the hotels in the park, electricity gets cut at 9. If you’re going earlier in the year, that’s probably fine—but the days that I was there, the region was experiencing record heat in the 40s/100s, and so sleeping comfortably was almost impossible without even a fan to circulate the air. Not having electricity at night does mean that the sky really does light up with the stars and you really do hear the sounds of the forest that you are surrounded by. I don’t see myself going back to Tikal anytime soon, but if I were, I would think twice about staying in the park again.

Oasis in jungle.

Lovely stay here and would recommend. But it would help if hotel put prices up by 10% to negate the stealth tip tax at the end which was added after signing off individual meal and drink bills. Would rather sort my own tips out. Picky but irritating.

We had a bungalow with garden view. The room is spacious, the bathroom not. Everything could use a little updating. There is a mosquito net over the bed. On the top of the walls and windows are screens. This is very important, because there is no a/c. There are no electrical connections to the park hotels. Everything runs on generators. These generators run only a few hours in the morning and a few in the evening. Then it’s lights out. Not a problem for us since we were very tired at night. If you can’t charge something electronic extra they do it at the front desk. Buy water at the entrance of the park at the Super24. We got an 8 liter container and filled our water bottles when needed. Otherwise you have to buy too many little bottles at the hotel or from vendors. The restaurant is nice and has a good selection. The prices for the location are reasonable. They prepare everything at ordering. It takes time, but I assume they have limited refrigeration capacity to keep a lot at the ready. Staff was very friendly. It got very hot during the night and the fan stops running at one point. It was very nice to have clean and fresh sheets and towels every day. You are in the rain forest, which is a noisy place with howler monkeys and lots of birds. The pool is a life saver on a hot afternoon. Unfortunately it wasn’t very clear. We didn’t get sick, but it didn’t look appealing. The grounds are very pretty and well kept. Parking is free. Overall I would go back.

You’re super close to the Tikal archeological park which is great. You’re practically sleeping inside of it. The only downside is that the electricity cuts out every night so It can get a bit hot without the fan working, but other than that it’s clean and the staff are very nice and super helpful. I would go again.

We throughly enjoyed our experience in Tikal. Tikal Inn was just okay for us. I thought I had booked a bungalow not knowing they had rooms inside the kitchen/office building. I was of course disappointed in my assumption. The site advertises the Inn has limited electricity. What’s not advertised is the cabinas/bungalows have electricity 24 hours a day. Because our room was in the main building (again not advertised) we had the limited electricity. To add to this, the hours the electricity was on was when we were in the park. Our room was clean however the bathroom sink smelled really bad of sewer when the trickle of water was turned on. The shower had a trickle of cold water as well. We were looking forward to cooling down in the swimming pool but refused to get in it as the water was very milky. There is a tile name of Tikal Inn in the shallow end but you could barely read it through the milky water. We chose not to eat in the restaurant rather at the hotel next to the Inn. We absolutely loved Jessica at the front desk. A very pleasant young lady. We felt the advertising was very deceiving. Had we been 30 years younger maybe this would have been fine. We would stay again in the bungalows. Our friends were in one with their full electricity and ability to take a shower in the light. It was very cute.

Definitely worth staying here rather than in Flores. Being so close to the park is a huge plus. The staff is very nice and speak very good English (helpful if your Spanish isn’t that great). We booked sunrise, sunset, and archeological tours through the hotel and were paired with our guide Nixon who was great. We also toured yaxha at sunset which was further away but very beautiful. Tours were affordable and worthwhile. Licuados (smoothies) at the hotel and the pool onsite were great during the hot parts of the day. We stayed two nights but I wish we had stayed three or four as there is so much to see and we felt a bit rushed with our personal exploration. Being in the jungle, wifi can sometimes be spotty but it’s impressive to me that they have it at all. Enough power to charge your phone and necessities 24/7. With a fan in the room we stayed a comfortable temperature (got chilly at night). Be prepared to buy bottled water for 10q as the hotel will quickly run out of free filtered water if there are many guests. Not a huge deal but you should be prepared. You can pay with credit card at the hotel but you should bring some cash with you for outside of the hotel because there is no atm. We would visit Tikal again and stay with Hotel Tikal Inn.

Hotel Tikal Inn is steps from the entrance to Tikal. It has been around since the 60s and it is well designed and totally charming. They offer guided tours including sunrise and sunset tours, which I highly recommend. We arranged the sunrise tour with the property and it was totally worth it (bring a flashlight or headlamp). If you’re a wildlife lover, you definitely want to stay within the park and hear the jungle come alive in the am. Other highlights from our short stay: hot water shower; fan worked 24/7; mosquito nets (even though I didn’t see any bugs in the room, nice to have); plenty of parking; restaurant accommodated us even though we arrived near its closing; pool (which we didn’t have time to use) and very friendly staff. Breakfast was particularly good. I will absolutely come here again and stay for longer. Tikal is fabulous, but equally so is the wildlife that surrounds it and the best way to experience both is to stay within the park. Great adventure!

Family Guatemala tree

We absolutely loved it but I willl say this is not for everyone. They have a few rules in place to respect the wildlife and they is a lot of wildlife we had monkeys , turkeys and lemers that walk comfortable and free. Plenty of birds and you will hear them from time to time. The staff was amazing and parking was easy. We felt safe and they do have rooms with multiple beds. We only stayed 1 day but plan on returning for a 2-3 day trip. They have a restaurant with plenty of choices and the pool was clean and great. Swim while you see monkeys in the trees. It is with in walking distance or the pyramids entrance and yes inside the park. I would pack snack before due to the fact that they do close all at 9pm this includes electronic off and lights. No TVs and service is not the best or at all in the park but they do have wifi at the hotel

The Tikal Inn is the perfect place to stay while visiting Tikal Park. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. No air conditioning so it can be warm. We stayed next to the pool that was very well kept and great on a hot day. Only issue was some staff let people smoke next to the pool and hence next to our room. I understand that was against the rules normally but we spent two days with a lot of smoke

Does the job, incredibly friendly frontdesk staff

The hotel needs renovation but otherwise it's fine for the price (78 US dollars per night). We stayed there for two nights to have the time to explore Tikal at sunset and sunrise. The room was spacious with two comfortable double beds. There was hit water which is a plus in the jungle. The hotel is literally in the jungle, so you can see toucans and monkeys in the garden, which was amazing. The swimming pool was a nice plus to have and it stays open until 9pm so we could use it in the evening after a long day walking in the park. Food at the restaurant was average, I'd recommend exploring other restaurants in the park (esp. the Jaguar Inn). The nicest thing about this hotel was the staff: Ricardo and colleagues at the front desk were the most helpful people we came across in a long trip through Guatemala and Belize. They really care and do a great job.

The staff was incredible. I want to call out Roxy and Carlos for being amazing. Roxy checked me in and was visible throughout the day for any questions and concerns. Carlos worked in the restaurant. Roxy constantly checked up on me. She's an archeologist so she was able to give some tips to explore Tikal on my own. I think it should be known that the power goes out at 9pm for the night and 2 other times at 2 hour increments during the day. This is true for all the hotels in the park. Luckily, I travelled with a huge portable charger so I was able to charge my phone etc over night. But beware. The room was clean and extra blankets were available since the nights I stayed it got really cold. The room and the hotel itself is older so don't go in expecting glam and luxury. But the basics are covered. Wi-Fi signal was a little weak unless you were at the restaurant. I think that is to be expected in the jungle.

There arent enough words to discribe the wounderful this property is. Everything from the comfortable beds, staff, well maintained property and amazing wildlife was a truely amazing experience. As most reviews state there is limited electricity. Roxy explains this during checkin, she also provids you with a walk through of property. My visit was during December it was super humid but not hot if that makes sense. There is sufficient hot water and water pressure in the bathrooms. Roxy thank you to you and your staff for helping my mother and myself share this experience.

I liked the pool, hammock, tour guide Ronaldo. I had trouble with the shuttle service both on the way there and on the way back to the airport. On the way there I took the wrong driver and the shuttle driver said he seen me do so. On the way back I was told I was taking an “airport” shuttle and the driver drove me to Flores on the island with the rest of the passengers, when I didn’t get off he started to tell me this is the last stop. I said I was promised a ride to the airport and he said no. After arguing with him I finally got him to take me to the airport as I was originally promised.

Had a lovely stay here at the hotel. There was an option to include dinner, breakfast and a sunrise or sunset tour for $32 USD. I did it for both nights I stayed and did both tours, and felt it was worth it. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. There is another hotel/ restaurant next door if you need variety of food. Be aware you must have plenty of cash and you must buy all passes (in quetzal cash only) to Tikal including sunrise, sunset tours, day passes to park and museum passes. It is a 20 minute drive and no way to get there if you dont have a car. You must show passport and your name will be on your tickets. A poor system by the governent in my opinion, as people might opt for more if given the chance to change their mind, or pay with credit card The hotel allows for payment with credit card and the staff was helpful with my broken luggage, getting me quetzals for usd at a fair exchange rate, and with catching a local bus/van with connection to the Belize border. I highly recommend staying here to enjoy all the park has to offer instead of rushing in and out on a crowded day trip.

WOW, this place is seriously gorgeous. The landscaping is super pretty, our room was fantastic, nicest sheets & mosquito net we had anywhere on our whole trip through Guat. & Belize. The owners (Roxy, Ricardo, & their brother Michael who I actually didn’t meet) are fascinating, wise people who are 2nd generation Tikal guides. Front desk staff was each amazing— fluent English no problem, accommodating as all get out. Our *only* needs improvement area was the food. The stew chicken was awesome and everything else was the opposite. Weak drinks, low-quality food. Ah well. Everything else was GREAT!

Amazing setting surrounded by jungle

Amazing location 5 minutes walking from Tikal ruins. Lots of wildlife around the area - birds, agoutis, coatis, monkeys, etc. Loved being woken up by howler monkeys at 5am. Kids loved the pool. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend and stay again. Only downside for us was that rooms had two double beds each so plenty of rooms for the kids but they charged us extra which seems a bit ridiculous.

The staff/owner was very helpful with information and assigned us a wonderful room. The food was good and service was excellent. What could be significantly better is the WiFi connection. What I'd highly advise is - especially if you're staying for just one night - is to confirm your tickets to Tikal beforehand. There are separate tickets for sunrise, daytime, sunset. Apparently, you need a guided tour for sunrise. Additionally, you need to purchase a daytime ticket along with sunrise. This rule is very confusing (I'd still like to verify it) but make sure to confirm your purchases to align with your plan. USD and Credit Cards are accepted at the front desk. But buying the tickets may require cash. Do note that there is electricity only for a few hours in the morning and the evening so plan accordingly. (You could also charge your phones at the reception.)

We enjoyed our stay at Tikal Inn ... Danny on reception was a very nice and helpful man as were other staff. It’s nice to see the owner on site (we think the lady was) ... unexpected dissapointment was not having WiFi in our room. Other than that it was good value for money. Mosquito nets in rooms was comforting. The pool was clean and felt good after a day around the ruins. The restaurant served a good selection and what we had was good. we would stay again and certainly recommend.

Manager Harasses Employees in front of customers

Roxy, Roxanda the lady manager yells, harasses and threatens her supper friendly employees, she did this in front of me. Back story: We came to Guatemala to see Tikal and booked Tikal Inn. I reached out to Tikal Inn via email to request any information that they would provide with preparing to visit the Tikal the park and we never heard from them. We arrived late in Flores and had some complications with transportation there. This could have been avoided as all of our other hotels arranged transportation and or gave us trusty alternative sources we could use. Our treatment at Tikal was great and all of the the employees are super awesome. I did ask to speak to the manager my last night at Tikal Inn and spoke to Roxy. I let her know that I tried to communicate with the Hotel and no one answered my email. I let her know that I would have liked to know that I needed to obtain entry passes to Tikal as we struggled to get the tickets and that the Hotel next door did us a favor in obtaining them for us. Roxy immediately blamed this on the employees at the front desk and went directly to them and threatened them and cussed at them and made them feel stupid in front of me. They all said that they communicated with management with obtaining extra tickets for foreigners because they ran out. She then blamed it on another manager that was not even present. Please do NOT stay here! I spoke to other employees and they all said they where scared to get punished. Shame on ROXY+Tikal Inn

This property is just a 2 minute walk away from Tikal Nationalparks main entrance. You can book tours and Transportation options via the hotel which we did. All staff is very knowledgeable about the ruins and the area and we enjoyed it very much. The pool is a wonderful way to cool down after a day in the park, since the ceiling fans only work for a few hours in the morning and afternoon due to the power restrictions.

Good location, but overpriced

It was great to be able to stay so close to the park entrance. We stayed two nights in a bungalow by the pool. You can hear your neighbors, and we had difficulty sleeping the first night due to the snoring next door. The room was clean and free of insects, but extremely basic. I would have expected to pay no more than $50/night for this room, but I suppose you are paying for the convenient location. Private transportation to/from airport is expensive, but there are public buses that leave from the parking lot nearby for about $10. You aren’t guaranteed the time they leave, but about each hour. The hotel also provides a group shuttle around 3:00-3:30 in the afternoon. The service was friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and a great way to relax in the afternoon after visiting the ruins. However, the pool furniture is in poor condition, so it’s not pleasant to lay out there. You can see wildlife on the grounds, which was lovely. The electricity is only on a couple of hours in the morning and evening, but it wasn’t a problem for us. Luckily it wasn’t too hot at night, so we were able to sleep without the ceiling fan when the electricity went off at 9:30pm. Be prepared to pay a 20 Quetzales departure tax at the airport, only in cash.

Great position not far from the entrance. Pool was nice. Chairs around the pool broken and severely rusted. Barely useable. Food is pretty average. Budget rooms are a long way from the main area. We wanted to upgrade for one night but they didn’t seem to be able to manage this. It had to be for two nights or not at all!! Even though the resort was largely empty. Fan in the room was very noisy.

Stay here. Much better than Flores!

This is one of my favourite places to stay . . . .and we have travelled a lot. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the meals are good. The amazing part is the pool and the wildlife watching. You can float in the pool and watch toucans, parrots, golden orioles and monkeys in the treetops. There are also coati mundis, turkeys, and other wildlife to see on the property. It is amazing. From here it is easy to go on the sunset and sunrise walks.

The place is located right in the park and has a pool! What more could you ask for?! It was great to be able to get to the park early and stay late and still take a break on the middle of the day. There is no power in the room during the day but that really wasn’t a problem for us. Our room was set kind of far away from the rest of the main building But it wasn’t a big deal. The food and the service in the restaurant or top notch, especially considering you’re in the middle of the jungle in Guatemala. Room service was awesome to. We got fresh towels and water every day. The staff, especially Melvin were all awesome! The only ding was a very small radius of very slow Wi-Fi. It would be awesome if they had Wi-Fi out by the pool and it would be fairly straightforward. The pool area is amazing. We saw all kinds of birds and wildlife - way too much to list. We stayed five nights and I would absolutely go back and recommend it as the top place in Tikal to stay

Good, Cheaper...Worth It

It was the farthest hotel of the ones at the ruins but that only means 2 min of walking instead of 1. The hotel had decent food but the drinks were overpriced. They had limited the electricity(530pm-830am), hot water(630-730am and 530pm-930pm), and internet (only the lounge). None of which was limiting other than thr internet was extremely slow might just be geographicly difficult to get good speed out there. The staff were really nice and helpful. English was not their strong suit but we expected that. The ruins was also super easy to get to and could spend 2 days at on your own. All the restaraunts charge about 10US per person per meal.

This property was great... Be are aware that YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A GUATEMALAN JUNGLE/ NATIONAL PARK. This is not the Ritz, Marriott, Sandals, or Club Med style resort— nor is it supposed to be. Clean grounds, friendly staff, decent food... feet away from the entrance to Tikal National Park. Great place to wake up for a long day trekking around the park without having to drive from Flores. Electricity is on from 6-8am and 6-10pm (approximately) which gives you time to charge your camera batteries, etc. No cell service and WiFi only available in the lobby. Perfect if you want to disconnect and really relax. 10/10 would recommend.
