Great hotel. Breakfast really abundant. The staff caring and friendly people. Hospitality was just outstanding. Only thing I would pick up on is the round beds in the junior suite (being the best room) A little uncomfortable and hard.
Took a while to realize that the key card must be inserted in order to turn on the lights.
Good hotel
Good hotel in Rome, friendly, English-speaking staff. In a quiet street.
Very nice employee. Clean and quiet rooms
It’s beautiful building and the breakfast wonderful!
it was okay
Great value
Lovely hotel, nice outside area, amazing Aircon, modern rooms, friendly staff, good location
A
The location is good and quiet at the same time. The manager was very helpful (free late check-out etc.).
Good but there was mold in the shower
Overall the stay was good. Only complaint is that the shower had mold on the shower wand and on the edges of some of the tiles.
Very modern.
Rooms very small. Poor lighting in bathroom. Pool was equally small and breakfast mediocre.
the staff is friendly, professional and the rooms are clean. Subway is around the corner, so commute is easy. I will choose this hotel again.
Not great weather in Rome but area walkable to Trevi Fountain and other hot spots. Building lovely. Room small and not much room for luggage storage. Bathroom. Large . Glass door which is always interesting. Restaurant great. Staf lovely. Some other guests a challenge and they handled it very well. Nice bar and pool area.
We loved the Hotel. The food was very good and the bar was stunning. The room was the problem. There were no drawers or places to put things so we lived out of our suitcase for days and felt like we were climbing over each other and our baggage. There were 2 hangers in the small closet. The pillows were also the most uncomfortable I have ever had. If you are alone or only in for a night it’s good.
The property was good but it is far away from the main attractions so you need a car.
.
We had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to others. The location is excellent, the apartment was clean and well equipped with fantastic views across Barcelona.
Excellent customer service; very clean place and has everything very close to walk and enjoy the historic area. They were very kind in helping me change one of my days of stay because I had to check out earlier than planned. Thank you very much.
The pool was small but did the job. The central lounge was magnificent with a grand piano anyone could play. But the rooms were TOO SMALL with non-functional avant garde design that do not serve guests' needs. NO SURFACE SPACE! No hooks on which to hang wet bathing suits. No night table, 1 chair for 4 people. Bathroom was size of postage stamp with zero space to put one's toiletries. Wastebasket was size of a Kleenex box. I asked for another one and a small table. Two days later still had neither. With a few upgrades The Building could be 4 star. Now, a 3.5, not more.
Everything was great and convenience
Spa was excellent. Breakfast choice was great. All staff were friendly and polite.
Overall ok. Would say 3*. The location of this property is not in a nice area IMO , not central ( which I knew but assumed there would be nice restaurants around) ..cinema down the road advertised “sexy movies” The entrance to the hotel looks like a hostel , some staff welcoming, others need to work on their customer service etiquette, a smile or a simple hello or please when checking guests in is not too much to expect. About ten steps into the hotel so if you’re carrying cases or have any mobility impairment in any way your stuck. I did see the young worker carrying heavy luggage piled up and taking them down the steps .. no health and safety for staff! The hotel lets guest smoke and vape around the pool , horrible if your dining out or have young children trying to enjoy the pool . Smokers need to have a separate area! In this day and age. Only about 8 loungers around pool, not enough for number of hotel guests. The bar area inside is very dismal, not well lit and definitely not enticing. The breakfast was ok!! Lots of cakes … if you like desert for breakfast you’re good. Milk and yogurts not on ice and were therefore warm… and the fresh juices were watered down and tasted vile.
Location was good..great pool! Really refreshing! Amazing breakfast! The bed was amazing! It was a round King bed!! Will definitely stay there again next time we return to Rome!
Junior suite that sleeps 4 only has 1 cupboard. Lizard found in bedroom. Told the water from the main bar is not filtered.
Lovely breakfast. Very welcoming staff on reception.
The property is beautiful, the staff is super helpful, the rooms are quite nice. Breakfast was outstanding. The pool was very crowded pretty much all the time so we couldn't really use it. The streets around the hotel were strewn with trash, very bad. As great as the hotel is, we won't stay there because of all the trash in the nearby streets.
This is a lovely hotel with a friendly staff. It is a little out of the way from most of the major tourist attractions, but close to Termini, so that is convenient. There are several nice dining options nearby, as well as at the hotel itself. The pool and the sundeck are lovely. Definitely a place I would stay on our next trip to Rome.
Great property, quiet safe area a little out of the way pool in the middle of July was. Godsend after long days walking and sightseeing
Didn’t realize there is nothing going on that area and it was kinda scary to walk at night. No tourist spots at all. The staff were great. My room door was broken and they moved me to another room right away. The piano player at the bar lounge area was excellent as well as bartender. Only real complaint was the bed was uncomfortable kinda too hard. The second room they pushed 2 twins beds together and I almost fell in. The rooms were very clean and smell good. Pool was good but definitely not for kids. It’s all one level maybe 5 ft.
Didn’t like the breakfast
Perfect for a stay in Rome!
We received a warm welcome from the very kind lady who checked us in and she was helpful throughout our stay giving great advice on where it go and what time see. The room was great and the jetted tub was brilliant to have. We loved the pool after a warm day sightseeing. Max the pianist in the bar was fantastic! Good location about 10 mins from the station with nice restaurants in streets nearby.
Property was about 15min walk from train station which we wanted as that was our means of transportation for our trip. Easy to get a cab that hotel staff would call to take us to other destinations. It was quite a distance (walking) from main attractions. 20 min cab ride to Vatican. Room was unique - modern touch screen powered lights etc. Our room was next to road so could hear a bit of traffic at night but nothing overly disturbing. Our room was clean but shower had some mold/mildew build up in spots that needs to be taken care of as well as door to shower didn’t completely close and water puddled on floor. Beds were decent for a nights rest. Breakfast was decent - eggs, fruit, bacon, pastries- if you want cappuccino or espresso type drinks you need to ask staff to get it as on buffet they have only americano and hot milk in carafe. Pool was refreshing, fairly small but ok for amount of people using it. They give you towels to use at front desk. They prefer city tax to be paid in cash and had notes all over the hotel to remind you of that. The only place we stayed that seemed so adamant about that. Everywhere else we used card. Lobby was beautiful and restaurant overlooked lobby.
Lovely property, we got upgraded to a junior suite on arrival which was a beautiful room! Nice and spacious, comfortable bed and nice bathroom
Good hotel with good location. Swimming pool is a big bonus. My only negative comment is the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the room. Otherwise no complaints
We had booked a two double bed suite through Expedia, instead we got a queen bed and a sofa.
The staff was amazing. Our room was quite small but nice. The pool area was lovely and the lounge was really nice to sit in
It was generally a nice hotel. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Rooms were being cleaned every day which I find it not neccessary and harmful for the environment. Breakfast was acceptable but without any changes day to day that bored us after second try. We enjoyed the pool, it is beneficial after long walks in the city. Hotel has good access to the public transport and close to termini station.
Manager was awful! Did not have air conditioning and manager took no responsibility! He basically blamed us! Had family and friends who had recommended this hotel but will never go back! Was offered no compensation! I will make sure no one I know ever goes there! Rest of staff were great but manager very sketchy! Manager made excuses and would not help us out and I had my 84 year old mother! Shame on him!!!
This property is slightly aged in its decor and inside, however that would be the only downfall of this hotel. We felt safe at all times and the front desk support was always exceptional. Breakfest was fresh and tasty (albeit coffee could be better). We cannot fault this hotel for anything other than being slightly aged.
Not so good for the price
The bed wasn’t comfortable (hard and not firm, you could feel the springs, the mattress seemed either old or bad quality) Breakfast was okay, the scrambled eggs were soggy, some food options, plates and other stuff weren’t always available, particularly after 10 AM. Way too expensive for what it offers.
We booked the hotel as it was convenient for Termini. That meant we were a long walk from the main attractions, so location was the only downside. Room was clean but quite small. That was fine for two nights but a little to compact for a longer stay. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were extremely friendly and helped with a small problem with no fuss.
Claudio is the best!!
LOVED this hotel!! The staff was incredible, Claudio was the best!! We got off the flight and drove straight here, we were early but Claudio helped us check in to one of our 2 rooms early so we could rest. He gave great dining & shopping recommendations and even helped us get a cab for a fair price so weren’t taken advantage of us tourists. The rooms were unreal!! The bed, the huge bright windows, the bathrooms - everything was perfect & I will definitely go back here again.
Absolutely Fabulous!
I brought my teenage sons with me on a work trip to Rome and we loved staying here. The staff was so wonderful; they were incredibly warm, attentive and helpful. Everything was so easy. The hotel has so much to offer. The pool is lovely and the breakfast was terrific. The location was great too. We walked to most of the famous sights. Mille grazie for the exceptional service and making us feel at home.
The hotel is nothing like the pictures. They put you in studio apartment with three small beds and make it seem like it’s a sweet. When we try to get a refund or some type of discount. They were not responsive and offered us nothing in return. We ended up leaving the property and eating the expense because the air conditioning wasn’t working, the room had a pungent odor, and it was nothing remotely close to what the pictures showed online.
Very nice, clean, food was good
The spa made it amazing. Deffo recommend . The staff were all really nice
Nice hotel but far from major site seeing. Need a cab/uber to get everywhere for tourists.
Really quite disappointed by our stay here. It is advertised as 4 star but really isn’t. We had to move rooms 3 times. First room the shower had a huge leak in it, second room was only available for the night and then we were finally moved to the third room. The hotel is clean and is in a good location but the shower grout is mouldy, the carpets through the corridors and rooms are stained. The walls in the room are lined with material and the at was coming away from the wall. I’d imagine this was a nice hotel 7/8 years ago but is desperately tired. You know it’s bad when every time you walk past reception someone else is complaining. Bitterly disappointed considering this was booked as an anniversary trip.
Claudio and the registration desk staff are eager to help and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are comfortable. Thank you
We had a good stay at The Building. It’s a little bit further from main attractions but still in walkable distance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only minor complaint was that the wifi in our room wouldn’t connect intermittently. However, not the biggest of deals for us as we didn’t spend too much time in our room.
Claudio and the people at reception were very helpful upon check in and eager to assist everyday.
Good. A little far from main attractions. Alhough modern equipment, we had problems with lights and water flushing permenently
Having the pool, the terrace and the breakfast was a lovely option in a big ancient city!
Overall great stay. Rooms were very clean and modern. Helpful staff, available 24/7
Amazing
Bery happy with the experience staying at The building Hotel. Will definitely come back on my next trip.
Overall decent stay the room we stayed in was fine for a guys trip but the room itself was not the best. Staff was great, service was great
Open plan shower. Really?
The open plan shower arrangements are not conducive to a family environment.
Great but need to improve breakfast.
Great in general. But breakfast was not perfect since refill was not properly made so that some foods were not fully served despite it was before 9AM. Felt like they did not prepare enough, especially Salmon.
Great hotel good location spa was amazing and so relaxing after a long day in rome . Will stay again . Breakfast was really good and also food in restaurant really good prices .
The hotel overall was great. Great location for transportation links into the city centre and in a quiet neighbourhood. Although it was next to a police station the noise from the sirens wasn't too bad. I would have given the hotel 5 stars but there were some minor issues. We went with 2 kids under 10 year old and we thought we had access to the indoor pool having confirmed it with the hotel by email before we departed. However, when we got to the hotel we were told under 16s are not allowed as the pool is more of a jacuzzi than a pool and we would only be able to access the outdoor pool. However, the outdoor pool is not heated so unless you like cold swims its not usable outside summer months. The other issue was that the rooms do not have side lamps but have tiny spot lights in the ceiling so at night time its very difficult to see in the sides of the room. There were no chest of drawers in the room so we were living out of suitcases and with kids the rooms did become very messy. Finally, we had the junior suite room with the hot tub, which was great however I don't think it gets a proper deep clean too often so for the first 3-4 times we used it (due to lack of a pool) the jets would tend to spit out bits of dark fluff bits and hairs which is not great at all. On the plus side apart from one lady at the counter all the staff were very nice and helpful.
Nice Spa and restaurant.
Beautiful Lounge Bar
This hotel has a lovely atmospheric lounge bar complete with columns, upper gallery (used for breakfast and dinner) and stained glass windows since it was formerly a church. Breakfast was good with hot (scrambled egg & bacon) and cold selection including cereals, yoghurt, bread, fruit etc. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Very easy to get around via busses/ metro, lovely restaurant in the hotel and in the bar there was love piano, very very good cannot recommend enough the room was clean, had everything you need and very nice
This was an lovely hotel close to metro with in room jacuzzi, wonderful staff and amazing spa
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great and started our days well. The location is great, very walkable from Roma Termini but far enough that it's not so busy.
Very expensive, breakfast was of poor quality, the room was dark, bed very hard, lighting in bathroom is very dark
Rooms not really like the photos. We are a family of 4 and booked the Jnr Suite, sent 3 messages to the Hotel in the weeks leading up to our trip asking for the room to be configured with 2 single beds. Did not get any response nor the room configuration asked for. Disappointing!
Awful customer service
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel my experience at the building needs sharing. First, positives. Hotel is clean and offers pretty much everything you would expect in a hotel. However for the price I would certainly expect more (over paying in Rome, what's new?). The bigger issue was that the shower flooded the bathroom, I don't mean makes the floor wet but filling it with a centimeter of water that flowed out of the bathroom, onto the carpet and into the corridor outside the room. I reported this as we left for the evening and was told it would be fixed by our return. It wasn't. The exact same thing happened but luckily was spotted sooner. In the morning I pointed this out, explained that the carpet was soaking wet and only one of us had been able to shower in the 18 hours we'd been at the hotel. Apparently this was "just a maintenance issue" and not worthy of consideration for a room change or refund. Again I explained that we hadn't showered that morning and couldn't really go on with our holiday until we had as only one of us showered the night before and we'd like to before leaving. Again no positive response, just a maintenance issue. Eventually two hours after that discussion maintenance turned up to fix the problem so we could shower. But the room then smelled of damp carpet for the next 24hrs until we left. At no point was even an apology offered. So although I would say the hotel is nice, I hope you don't expect customer service.
No fresh orange juice at breakfast and no complimentary water in room
My first time staying. And it was fabulous!! I will recommend to everyone I know. Honestly a really great place to stay.
Loud traffic and thin walls
Its like they put lipstick on a pig. The beds are uncomfortable, walls are thin. You can hear your neighbor sneeze. For 1 load of laundry they will charge you 135 euro and NOT advise of the price prior. This is not a 4 star hotel. Stay Away!
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful as were the breakfast staff. Breakfast was good but maybe a little more variety on the hot food would be good. The room was functional for what we wanted although the bed was quite hard Overall for 3 nights it was good although slightly further out than we thought
Was very nice. Staff were very helpful and it is within walking distance of termini as well as the colosseum and all the other sites you will want to visit.
The staff was friendly and helpful
I agree with other reviewers that per USA standards this wouldn’t be 4 stars but I think it is a very strong 3 stars. The rooms are modern, bed is on the hard side. The hotel is clean and quiet. The food is good and room service actually came to my room to bring a menu and take my order. Staff was helpful and friendly (except for one woman at the front desk when I checked in). I would stay again.
Nice quiet property. However, our room had a foul smell upon entry and the washroom mirror had a large crack and the light fixture was dangling in front of the mirror. The bathroom had a mirror but it was the only mirror on the room. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Pool was bigger than expected.
Very disappointed not a 4 star more like a 3 star
The room was grubby with stains on the carpet Breakfast selection was poor and not replenished quick enough chips in plates which is a no no throw the plate away We ordered a panini and it came in a burger bun The restaurant picture in the lift is mis leading the restaurant looks nothing like it Late check out don’t get caught out is a con
I liked that the hotel had a pool in Rome- so great in the summer! I did not like that the shower allowed water all over the floor. The breakfast is great! Lots of options. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this as a stay as it is safe hotel.
Property was lovely. Clean rooms and a lovely pool area. Very inconvenient location. Not close to shops or major attractions. Daily inconvenience for us to get to see Rome.
Excellent. Would book again. During the heatwave in Rome, it was incredible to cool off in HtB pool. Staff were excellent. Rooms (we had a triple room) were great. Breakfast and dinner lovely. Bar drinks delicious and the piano bar/piano player fantastic. Ambience was wonderful.
Not the greatest area. Bed was comfy and air conditioning was good. Rest of the hotel was not what you would expect of a 4 star.
Amazing hotel. Rooms could be updated. Very good service and air conditioning during an extremely hot summer visit to Rome.
The wifi doesn’t reach certain rooms, the beds ate rock hard, our shower was broken, we had to go ask for shampoo and conditionner at the front desk because there was none in the room, the pool is in the shade, the room was humid, 30 mins away from nightlife.
Love the bar, restaurant and pool area very relaxing.
Great staff
The property is very well located within walking distance to the main attractions of Rome. You can also order Taxis that arrive in less that 5 min. Our tours meetings points where very close to the hotel too. On the other hand, the restaurant service is very good too.
A little lacking
I felt the photos were very flattering. Upon arrival the restaurant was poorly run post a long and delayed flight. The bar area had very little ambience and the service lacking. It would be very helpful to tell us about the additional charges for amenities and services that appear to be part of the cost online. We were not the only people complaining at the reception.
Rome rugby trip.
Staff pleasant, 3 night break for the family in a suite. Very reasonable. that said we had to ask for toiletries etc as room not cleaned on two days . about 1.5 kn out of cntre, pretty nice hotel in terms of vfm.
It was my first choice at a hotel all my own and I don’t regret it one bit
The property was convenient to Termini and many dining options. The bar and outdoor area were really pleasant. The rooms were good but could use some storage other than hanging space
business trip
the room was located in the first floor next to the outside area and it was noisy and the curtain did not cover all the widows and outside there was a very bright light all night long, the first night i slept terribly. maybe other rooms are better, mine was 028 you should avoid that room
The property was clean and the room was big however in the name of modern design it was really unfunctional and not practical. No mirror on the room so if your partner is using the bathroom you need to wait. No outlet in the bathroom for hair tools…. But the mirror is there…. No luggage holder or rack, if you placed in the desk you cover the tv…. No hooks of any kind to hold the extra towels… The doors handles way to “modern” almost impossible to grab and open. Swimming pool in the shade so the water was extremely cold even on a 97 temp outside. Check in at 2pm…. Really an inconvenience…. Is Rome! You have plenty of options!
This hotel is beautiful! The staff is wonderful! The pool area makes you feel like you are at a resort and not in the middle of the city! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Rome!
Very well located and good arrangements of staff
Amazing staff so comprehensive and helpful!
Bad place
Horrible experience. Listed as a 4 star but not even close. Floors and walls stained. Bed wasn’t made when I walked in. Room was musty and gross. I had to call the front desk to change the temperature in the room as they controlled it. Lobby area was dirty and had empty bottles and food on the floor. No one was cleaning. All around horrible experience.
Fantastic Hotel, Great Location, Perfect Getaway
Fabulous hotel, a short walk from lovely well priced restaurants and in an ideal location to complete the majority of the main tourist attractions in a day on foot. Outdoor Pool area was clean and plenty of availability for sun loungers and chairs. The perfect couples getaway.
un-control room temperature, toilet flush broken
