Near train station. Dangerous area near train station smelled musty or moldy.
The property is very basic. For the price it meets the minimum requirement. The only power outlet was in the bathroom
Best manager, very kind!!
We got to the hotel at night and when we checked in we noticed they were fixing the elevator. We tried using it to go the first floor but it wasn’t opening there. The manager saw that my mother uses a wheelchair and quickly determined that it wasn’t a good option for her and suggested we change hotels. He took it upon himself to take us to another nearby hotel and talked to the person there and got us a room which was very comfortable and the property itself was nice with easy accessibility for wheelchairs. This man was very kind and we appreciate all he did for us and made our stay in Rome a great one. THANK YOU!
The hotel is in good conditions. Very good ubication. Is clean. The bed is small and outsite of the hotel, at night, there are people that looks dangerous
El bano estaba tupido habia cucaracha en la habitacion y el aire no funcionaba
It was awful. the room key must be handed in every time you leave. and one time when we returned to the hotel, the doors were locked. the receptionist went somewhere, and we had to wait for him for 10-15 minutes to get into the hotel and get the room key. 2 beds are twinned. breakfast is very meager. and the area is good, the manager warned us that we could get robbed in this area.
Hotel Tex Jan 2025
This is an old building with all the quirks that entails. The first room we were allocated had no electricity supply, but the staff soon sorted it and moved us. The room was comfortable and all the facilities worked as they should. Plenty of hot water for showers, and there was a little fridge which was useful. It's a good location in that it's close to the station so great for exploring the city, but late at night it was a little grim with large gangs of young males hanging around on the streets outside. Overall it was fine though, the staff were lovely and it was great value for money.
Ants in our first room, they were quick to move us to a new room. I booked a queen bed, it was two single beds pushed together and they separated very easily.
Excellent house keeping workers very hard work in maintaining the rooms everyday 10/10. Breakfast 9/10. Bathroom 10/10. Front desk staff 8/10. Early Check in time not flexible to allow atleat an hour before instead of 2pm. Room not ready is excuse Rain, handicapped still No showing any priority! So 4/10. Near to Termini station and all other attractions 10/10. Until 12 pm night kind of brawl, shoutings outside 7/10. Price 10/10. Restaurants nearby 10/10. Once again kudos to housekeeping staff 100/10. Thanks to everyone. Enjoyed 4 nights Dec7-12. Room # 111.
It is pefect hotel, who wants to stay near Rome main train terminal and transportation. Many places are walking distance
The property over all is ok. The staff friendly very clean not complain at all, but the WiFi is horrible at these hotel for 4 days. I only was able to get WiFi service for 7 hours during my first day I complained at the from desk they couldn’t give a satisfactory answer. Basically if you need WiFi service Do not stay at this hotel the most horrible internet service ever experience in my life.
So so
Hotel is in a very convient area. 2 blocks away from Roma Termini which is the main station to take the trains and buses around rome and also to and from the airport. Hotel staff is amazing!!! Very friendly and helpful. A lot of restaurants around the area and shopping places too. Hotel is also located walkable to famous sites like the coloseum, trev fountain, pantheon, spanish steps and much more.
Ok but tired.
The hotel is tired and in serious need of repair/rennovation. It is in a rough part of town - probably one block too close to Termini. It is, however, internally safe and is good value for money.
Overall it was ok, but things that I was not expecting. 35C degrees heat and the air conditioning did not work, the folks at the front desk said it was to save on energy due to the war in Ukrain. Also the neighbourhood overall was ok, but for some reason people would congregate on the corner of the hotel.
Breakfast a plus free housekeeping needs work
The hotel itself was so awesome. The room was quite big for Europe. The room, and the hotel was very, very clean! The food was so yummy! The only bad thing, and it’s why I gave it a 3 star rating was the location, or better said the people who hung out right outside the hotel at all hours of the day and night.
It was clean and staff were very polite
WiFI was not working and problem reported was not solved.
The air conditioning was poor very stuffy kids diddnt sleep well , when enquired they said for eco friendliness set to 21celcius but it was no were near to it. The person at desk was not heplfullll said we have fan - when asked can i have one its weekend cant arrange one couldnt move to another room. Next day only another person was little bit helpful trying to move us to another room but still similar central air conditioning not controlable. Only good thing was the service at good breakfast.
Many men and some women roaming around and sitting on the street. Transport wise though, very close to train station and restaurants.
The staff and atmosphere of the hotel were fine, nothing to disappoint. The breakfast could have easily been better with real cheese and scrambled eggs, but it was ok with the hard-boiled eggs. The staff were very courteous, and spoke perfect English. The 24 hour reception was good, and made it feel safe and secure. The AC was just right, and the black-out shades served the purpose very well. The bathroom was also well maintained and spacious enough. It was a good deal for a reasonable price, and the location is perfect for access to museums, transport, and other sites
When we first checked in the man was very rude, my mother just wanted to confirm the areas that she was permitted to smoke and he responded with “just don’t smoke it’s bad for ur health.” Whether she smokes or not is none of his business and his opinion was not needed, all she wanted to do was confirm that areas she was allowed to. The area is really bad, as soon as the evening comes there are plenty of gangs everywhere and people waiting to rob you. I would 100% recommend no one to stay here especially is they have children and or are women. There was a glass bottle fight right as we were about to leave to go and see some monuments. The area smells. The rooms were very dirty, they don’t change the sheets even when specifically requested to, the walls had peeling paint, there were cracks on the walls, very dusty, the bed was meant to have one large mattress but instead they put two which led to a very uncomfortable sleeping experiences as they would move creating a while in the middle. The breakfast was not worth it at all. They gave these stale pastries so hard to chew and bite, there was barely a selection and the eggs they provided seemed very off. The lady in the breakfast room also put back things people didn’t eat but took onto the table where people took things from to eat. She was also very rude when asked about the coffee machine. Just overall do not stay here, the price is not worth this hotel and just find a hotel in a safer area.
Ok
close to transportation, but the area is unsafe.
Property was located in a very convenient area. Rooms were alright and beds comfortable. AC was not very strong in our room but Peter was very friendly and helpful.
There were lots of dangerous people outside of the hotel all the time. That made us feel unsafe. We experienced bugs in the room. We asked for bug repellent from the front desk and we were given a bottle to spray ourselves. We killed the bug in our room and we swept the dead bug outside of our room. The dead bug was outside of our room for days and no one cleaned it.
STOP!!! Run, don’t walk away from this property. Let’s start with the one positive thing..It’s a 5 minute walk from Rome Termini, with access to the Metro, trains, and buses, and numerous eateries. Now to the Cons..grab a drink and have a seat. Upon check in, I asked the location of our room, followed by a request to change our room location. The “ one man”show at the hotel stated it wasn’t possible, because it is assigned by management, who is off site. I then asked for an extra blanket and pillow to be sent up. He had to call off site manager to have someone bring items to the hotel. Upon entering the room, I found 3 bags of KFC trash in the closet. Called the office for housekeeping, and again was told he must call off site manager for approval to send someone over. We booked a triple room and both the twin and queen beds were rock hard. The temperature in Rome was in the 90’s F. The room A/C was poor at best. The bathroom had a flimsy paper thin shower curtain with half of the rings missing. The breakfast buffet was nothing like American standard. Very disappointing. My wife and I were pickpocketed on the metro, taking cell phones and CC’s. I was told to call 112(their equivalent of 911). Upon asking the front desk clerk to make the call, he REFUSED. I couldn’t even dial 112 from my room! RIDICULOUS! ASI insisted he call, guess what? He had to call the off site manager for approval. Again, UNBELIEVABLE. NEVER AGAIN!
Safe and walkable
The street in front of hotel was dirty constantly and populated by unsavory men, but many good and reasonably restaurants nearby. Train station close. Room (for 3) was good size, but bathroom could be cleaned better. A/C on in room all the time which was great to return to after walking around in 90* heat. Breakfast was fine, good coffee machine. Elevator.
This hotel is in terrible condition. Time stoped something around 80’s. Staff is polite but everything else is in very bad condition. Very outdated and dirty. We booked queen bed twin bed. Queen bed is actually not a bed it’s two beds put together. Mattress is very thin and old. Blanket are very old and look dirty. We found hair in a bathroom asked the front seat to send someone to clean it. Unfortunately no one clean it and we stayed there for 4 days. Air conditioner is VERY loud and there is no option to control the temperature or stop it. Breakfast was not bad but cafeteria looks dirty and unfriendly. Last but not least my son was bitten by some bug and he got infected so we have to give him antibiotic. We were asked to pay city tax 6$ per day per person which is totally fine but the front desk guys ask me to pay him in CASH ONLY. If I am the owner of this hotel I will be ashamed to rent it. Not RECOMMENDED!!!
It is very well located, but the area doesn't look as safe at night as during the day.
Property is quite old but still serves its purpose. It is a 3 min walk to Roma Termini and also a 20-30 minute walk to other tourist spots. There are decent restaurants nearby. It could be dodgy and loud at night due to its proximity to the restaurants and train station.
Please save yourself and don’t stay here!
First of all, it is located on the street that is dirty and weird people on the street staring at you very uncomfortably. Upon arrival, the lobby smelled disgusting with smoke inside. The room was beyond disgusting. There were boogers on the wall, hair on the sink, clumps of hair in the bath tub. For 4nights we stayed, it was never resolved. There is no wifi in the room. The queen size bed is decades old single bed put together super uncomfortable. The breakfasts food was below continental breakfast quality. The bed sheets were so dirty everyday after them making bed. I checked before I left, and came back to bunch of hair and dead bugs in the bed after they made bed. Absolutely money wasting unpleasant experience. I will never come near this hotel again and I hope you do the same
The staff was very nice, the hotel is really meant for those who just want to sleep and nothing else. For sleeping it’s good but for anything else keep expectations low. It was clean, beds were clean which is what we needed.
I love the area multiples options
Great place with good dining options.
Situated a block, and a half from Roma Termini ( the central train/metro/bus station. The area around the hotel gets crazy at night, but unless you plan on spending your time in Rome sitting on hotel stoup, drinking with homeless people at one in the morning, you should be fine. From Roma Termini everything is minutes away, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Vatican City, that fountain everyone loves, and the "real Italian" mind blowing pizza shops hiding in the surrounding residential neighborhood ( not the often less authentic Italian eateries right around the tourist attractions ).
Very noisy, specially at night. People gathering and spending very loud until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. Don’t get the rooms next to the street. Nice staff, good breakfast.
We only needed a one night stay because the location is very convenient if travelling via Termini station. The front desk staff was excellent as was the breakfast staff. The hotel in general is a little worn, but at least the room we stayed was clean. It was adequate for what we needed.
I like a lot my period on the hotel. The room was very clean, the breakfasts was ok and in the reception they treated us very well and helped us with the lenguage.
Stay at hotel Tex
I would not recommend this hotel. It may have been the dirtiest accommodations I have been at in quite some time, and I am a big traveler. There were piles of dust on the floor, bugs crawling in the bathroom, dust and dirt everywhere. Right outside the hotel was some type of gambling depo with people on drugs or under influence fighting, screaming or being rowdy all night. It felt very unsafe.
Unfortunalty, the room was dirty and had a used soap pack in the shower and a dirty do not disturb sign. Most of the staff was very friendly, besides the original receptionist when I first arrived, the breakfast was good but the WiFi was very poor, with it frequently cutting out or it kicking out, requiring for the password to be reentered.
Great staff! Clean and close to the train station. A little noisy but not bad. Staff was amazing. Ordered our taxi service. Even gave us a breakfast to go at 4 AM! Thanks.
I'm impressed with the security.
They had the air conditioning turned off throughout the hotel because it was winter, the rooms were very hot, if the windows were open the noise was unsustainable and when we went to the reception to say that it was hot they said there was nothing they could do.
The hotel is very close to Termini. That area in Rome has turned into a dump. The hotel could improve their facilities, I suppose they don’t care bc no matter what, they will always have customers.
We stayed only one night. Very close to the Termini. Very convenient.
Not a good place to stay
Tex Hotel is in a terrible part of Rome. It’s a ghetto area. Nothing you’ll find on line until you get there
Firstly it’s a budget hotel Breakfast was included, don’t expect a buffet breakfast I was happy to have a coffee, toast and fruit My room was clean my bed was comfortable which is all I wanted My room was cleaned everything day The staff were wonderful all males happy to chat with me and offer advice where to go and what to see and how to get there providing me with a map The hotel is very close to the railway station but out the front are a lot of markets sellers everywhere there are restaurants and shops all around Happy with my stay Thank you
Beautiful

The location of this hotel is amazing! Train station is a 5 minute walk and everything else is walkable, with a good pair of shoes! We even walked 45 minutes (each way) to and from Vatican City. A car or public transportation isn’t needed at all, once you arrive. You get the bare essentials as far as accommodations go (nothing fancy at all) but if you just need to place to sleep after a long day of exploring, Hotel Tex is a great choice. The AC was fantastic which was super nice after long, hot days. The wifi worked well too. We found the most delicious (and affordable) restaurant called Massenzio, with the most incredible staff and only a 15 minute walk. We’d recommend this place to anyone not looking for luxurious accommodations!
Our AirPods Pro earbuds were stolen inside our room.
Nice clean hotel in good location
Nice comfortable clean hotel in good location. At night is a bit less friendly location but overall great.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was fine, clean etc. now the building is very old so certain areas in the room is run down but it’s clean. The breakfast is is very weak, if you are a breakfast person I recommend to go out for breakfast. The worst part of it is the location. Great to be by the train station but it’s also bad at the same time. Daytime is fine but at night is not a good area. Lil sketchy. If you plan being in and out daytime and early evening it’s fine but I was out late and coming back walking was lil uncontrollable. Lots of local low life drunks and so on. At night the hotel lock it’s front door so you need to ring a bell. That tell you something.
The room size is not enough.
Hotel is in a good location, however surroundings can be noisy. Facilities are quite basic, but overall a good place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Staff are super friendly. Room is small but it’s acceptable. However there’s no Wi-Fi connection at all in this property. We had to switch to another hotel after 3 days of stay just for a better internet.
It was amazing close to the train station, subway , and near most of the attractions by walking distance in my point of viewbut the wifi dint work in our room
Very convenient and lots of dining choices. Breakfast provided and was nice. But facing a street bazaar and lots of noisy people and cars at night. Couldn't sleep well because of that.
The room needed updating.
Staff were nice and friendly!!
It was very convenient to the main train station. Also, I could get to many of the attractions on foot. It meant that taxis were close and abundant. It was great to start the day with their breakfast. I was energized to get moving.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! We hit the jackpot with this one! It is located a block from the main train, bus station. It is only one mile from the Colosseum and close to so many other places. The continental breakfast was top notch! The only downside to this hotel was internet. They said free WiFi but we could never get it to connect. If you have a travel pass and use LTE you will be fine. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
The hotel was close to the train station which was convenient, the staff was very friendly. Beds where comfortable. Good value for money. It felt a little unsafe late at night coming from train station with people all sat around on the streets around the area.
Clean, convinient location, friendly staff. Terrible noise at night comes from the street below. Smokers.
HOTEL TEX ROME
Stayed 3 nights in this clean good value for money near Termini train station as i was getting a Teravision bus to Ciampino Airport which is only a short walk from the hotel The room is as described on the hotel website the breakfast in the morning is a Continental buffet served from 7
Staff very friendly and location very convenient near Termini, just behind McDonald Giolitti when you exit Giolitti street. Also plenty of Halal eatery in the area and near bus station to go sightseeing.
Handy simple hotel to use as a base
A traditional, basic, friendly well located hotel next to the main train station. Received a lovely warm welcome, with helpful information. Checkin was quick, room was a good size with adequate facilities, and a lovely frim bed. It's not the Ritz, but it doesn't claim to be. It's a clean bed for the night, with a decent bathroom, (didn't make it to breakfast) all at an affordable rate.
Great location - close to train and metro also numerous sites in the immediate area. Room was clean, staff were courteous and helpful. Hotel was not fancy but quite suitable for our needs and offered good value. I would definitely stay there again.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Wifi wS spotty.
Centrally situated Hotel.
Centrally situated Hotel. Staff was helpful. Room was small but clean. Shower was not good. Breakfast okay.
Early check in and comfortable room and good bathroom. Location was very good for touring. Breakfast could be better
You get what you pay for. Stayed one night due to proximity of train station. Wouldn’t stay again. It’s like camping inside.
Great service!
Always great at Hotel Tex. Thanks to front desk staff- Ricardo, Matthew, Alessandro and also the cleaning ladies of rooms were helpful.Thank you again. Surely I’ll be back
Convenient location
A few things were broken like the shower door and not enough outlets. The area has a lot of souvenir shops and food. Conveniently located to Rome Termini.
Comfortable hotel👍
Front desk employees are all great. Thank you to Ricardo, Matthew and Alessandro who were all welcoming even it was 1:00 am when we came back! This is my second time at this hotel and will surely come back👏👏👏
Didn’t like the area. Hotel was nice and clean. Lots of restaurants nearby.
Great customer service!
Thank you Mr. Ricardo and Mr. Alex for great customer service!
good hotel close to train station with reasonable pricing.
Very friendly desk clerks. The floors are fake wood, which is nice that they are not old, mildewy carpets. Must go up 6 stairs to the elevator. Located 1 block from main train station and a metro line which is very convenient, however on a busy street full of street vendors. The sign was very difficult to see.
no title
Hotel conveniently situated next to Termini Station where easy catch a train, bus or metro train. The hotel staff is very friendly. Breakfast is included.
Proximity to Roma Termini. Complimentary breakfast.
We booked at short notice for a single night and the night manager was extremely helpful and welcoming. He provided a breakfast package as we had to leave before breakfast and was delighted to print our train tickets.
Excellent location near Rome Termini train station.
Very good. Internet evetually flapdown. A little bit of presure in the morning to cleaning the room. But excelent in general terms.
Property was clean and good for a 1 night stay. I probably wouldn't stay there over 1 night. The surrounding area is a little cringy. Mattress was kind of hard but slept ok. Staff members are A1 superb and really went out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Price was solid. Dont know about the free breakfast as we left early to catch a plane.
Shower was awful. Ver Dirty. Also shower glass was broken. They finally changed us to another room which the walls were also dirty not as much as the other but still dirty. Air conditioner not cooling enough and with a bad smell. There were also ants. Refrigerator was neither cooling. Will never book this hotel again.
Pleasant stay
Very pleasant stay I will definitely come back!
Not possible to connect to wifi at all. Location is central,2 blocks from Termini Station but it feels unsafe, a lot of garbage, homeless people, a lot of not so fun activities going on at night although the police is right there almost in every corner of the intersection. A/C did not work at all. Breakfast pretty basic but at least you can have a toast and a cup of coffee before leaving. We only stayed at the hotel for 1 night. A lot of families staying at the hotel despite all the above.
Location
Location to train station 3 minutes walking distance.
Decent
Area around hotel is ok. Right around the corner from train station. Nothing spectacular. You pay for what you get. Friendly staff and rooms are decent. Hallways are old and smell. Breakfast is ok. At 1:30am air conditioning started leaking water and was wetting the floor significantly. Turned off ac and went downstairs to let them know. Did not want to change rooms and wake everyone up so it was decided to do it in the morning. Did not give me a hard time.
Rome holiday
The hotel is very central to the major attractions 4 min walk to main Roma Train terminals and underground The breakfast could have been better the same every day day we were there 4 days basic but clean
Handy location.
So handy to the train station. Could leave our luggage ahead of check in time. Very friendly.
the hotel was clean, nice breakfast, didn't like the lift and was not allowed to use the stairs. easy to to get to all the fabulous sites,
Close to train station, clean and the staff was very helpful.
very convenient to Termini and well kept. Not fancy but more than adequate. Very nice staff
The hotel was in great shape and in a great location. The staff was great.Ricardo was over the top in his helpfulness and a very nice gentleman . He was very helpful with directions and information. We would stay again and we had a great time. Dave and Dorie

Honestly the people saved the whole experience and kept me from losing my mind. It’s a budget hotel but the noise from the building was unbearable at night. Past midnight last night someone was moving furniture upstairs and vacuuming. Sucks as I had an Early flight and didn’t sleep. Again it’s budget so I didn’t have insane expectations and the staff were lovely but the time of night that the noise happened was insane. It wasn’t even road noise, literally upstairs on a Sunday night 🙄
