Great plave
Nice hotel, great pools, loud Americans
Overall the stay was great, the hotel is nice, rooms were comfy and clean with good facilities (safe, nice bathroom, fridge, good beds). The pool and pool area was lovely to relax in (especially the adult only pool). Breakfast was really great. The hotel is well located, with direct access to the beach and walkable to everything else. Do be aware though this hotel is popular with Americans who seem to spend a lot of time shouting and screaming at each other across the pool areas and beach
Beautiful resort, the pools are great, the beachfront location is perfect. Walkable to so many shops and restaurants. A great stay!
We stayed here in March 2025. It was family friendly, direct access to a beautiful beach, lots of shopping and dining options. The staff were very accommodating for setting up excursions and transportation. The food was great and the included breakfast was excellent, with many options. There were plenty of beach chairs available so you don't have to worry about getting up early and finding a spot. We would definitely return!
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very accessible to local restaurants and has good options for transportation. The hotel had a good breakfast spread. The ladies in the activities concierge were not as helpful. We wanted to book an excursion and were basically told we could not book since we were a party of 2 and they needed 4 to book a reservation. We decided to book with a local excursion company down the street. The room was not automatically cleaned we had to request it every day on the touchscreen in the room. No one told us this upon arrival until we called when we noticed the room had not been cleaned. We stayed on the other side of the street for this resort which has a large pool and swim up bar and we loved it. It was more private and quiet on that side.
I would suggest replacing the curtains in the rooms they have holes in them and makes it look trashy
I really enjoyed my stay, although the rooms could have been cleaned up a little more regularly. Other than that everything was just wonderful. The location is easy accessible to the beach to shopping to nightlife. Just a wonderful place.
The property is very old and the Family section has rooms that smell like sewers. Our family had 3 rooms and all of them smelled bad. The Tropicana rooms are more decent and less noisy but the rooms are smaller and the price is higher. Breakfast areas are nice, food was average. The pool area and the gardens are well maintained and beautiful everywhere.
Great location. Beach is amazing
Beautiful property with great views.
They cancelled our reservations one hour before check in. Said they overbooked.
Every time I go to Tamarindo, I contemplate booking a cheaper hotel and then I always remember how great the diria is and always end up going back. My last trip included 12 people and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the diria and surrounding area.
Beautiful grounds, loved that it was right in town and right on the beach. Parking was easy and although traffic makes driving slow it was much better to have a car than pay for shuttle.
The beaches
Perfect location for beach, shopping, restaurants and more. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful property with nicely appointed rooms.
Nice clean updated room. Property has nice ambiance and amenities.
LOVED it all!
Perfectly located in the heart of Tamarindo with a beautiful beach perfect to relax, play in the waves or surf.
The Diria is an excellent place to stay if you want beachside accommodation. Lots of space in the gardens adjacent to the beach for sunbathing. The hotel is adjacent to the best part of the beach for safe swimming
We enjoyed our stay. Pros: great resort in beautiful condition. While busy, we always found beach or pool chairs. Family pool is wonderful. Breakfast was good and lots of options. Location is great. Beach is good but surprising about the rocks you can’t see at high tide (all the beach not just at this resort) but great waves, surfing etc. Cons - room is on the small side. Had one lunch with bad service at on site restaurant - assume it was fluke, but we didn’t try our luck a second time. While room was in good condition/clean we had a heck of a time getting towels. One day towels forgotten and then took 2 days and 3 attempts to get 3 towels for our family. I am sure simple human error/miscommunication - but it was frustrating and delayed evening plans one night while waiting for towels to shower. Overall though enjoyed the stay. Met lots of repeat guests.
Marco (bartender) and Norby (tour guide) are fantastic! They significantly improved our experience. The hotel is beautiful and we would absolutely stay again.
A very good place to go when you want luxury in tamarindo. The rooms are nice. The hotel is big but accommodates everyone easily. It was nice to have easy access to town and the stores and restaurants. It’s the type of high end resort that gives you direct access to the town itself. Breakfast was always great and the ocean views were spectacular.
Don’t stay here!
Extremely over priced, sub par room. I would NOT recommend this hotel at all. Room was very basic and small, uncomfortable bed, 2 cheap lawn chairs on the tiny deck. This hotel charged a highly inflated rate for a very basic room. Extremely disappointed!
We always love visiting The Diria in Tamarindo. The people and food are wonderful. I wish they allowed for late checkouts, even if a fee was charged
Liked
Good
Poor room service.
This property is in the perfect place but the turn around is just to much for the employees who try their best but I would no recommend this location, they have several restaurants, pools and are beach front but for the money I would get the same if not better experience at the place near or next to this property I hate to write bad reviews but I read a few before booking and after spending several nights at the property I would never stay there again , yes it’s beach front but all beaches are open to the public which takes away from the hype
Great location. If we travel to Tamarindo again this will be where we choose to stay.
Very slow bar service. The same drink ordered will be different Everytime. No can consistency at all and very slow. Poor dining menu selection.
The place needs a little renovation
The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable with just a sheet and a thin blanket. Poor quality of toiletries . We had to ask for towels and any restocking of coffee each day. Very very loud, with street traffic and booming music at night. Concierge was extremely unhelpful when trying to book a reservation at their own hotel, we ended up eating elsewhere. Overall- I expected more for the price.
No bueno.
The hotel setting is nice. The room was terrible. The first night there was a wedding in front of our ground floor $600 per night room. We were wakened 2 hours after the noise stopped from some type of animal in our room. The second night the ac unit was running water off the ceiling and they couldn’t move us so the maintenance guys cleaned the dirty filter and drain. 10:40pm. They only offered $100 credit off our purchases and zero off the room. Service was slow.
This is a beautiful hotel. The views are amazing. And the staff were friendly and very attentive.
Anderson from the wait staff was excellent!!
Needs more attention to detail Chair in room dirty stains Reception guy whistling & talking Border line rude At this level Going across the street and entering With no guid no good
Just a perfect location. And a really fun property directly on the beach!
safe , clean , good food , enjoyed stay
The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the quality of the linens on the beds. Felt old/thin. The room staff didn't always completely make the bed when they cleaned the room and they were a little stingy on providing towels.
We loved this resort...it was immaculate, staff was amazing, food was delicious and most importantly the location was perfect for exploring by walking...great dining options right on the beach!
Prettiest resort we saw along the beach. Miles above the competitors in every metric.
Property is in great location, close to grocery store, large beach area. Beds are hard! Staff are not friendly, bar staff very disengaged, prices aren't consistent on drinks. The bell boy was the nicest person we met.
Absolutely wonderful staff! Clean rooms. The parking is secure and convenient. Love it that they had safe in the room. Great buffet breakfast included
We enjoyed our stay at Tamarindo Diria but it definitely wasn't as nice as other hotels we stayed at during our vacation. Pros: Beautiful pools and amazing location. Right on the beach and in the middle of town so its easy to walk to restaurants and shops. Cons: They don't provide conditioner or lotion in the bathrooms. The hotel rooms are okay but nothing special. The staff/service is okay but they weren't super helpful - when we checked in they forgot to give us towel cards and didn't tell us anything about the hotel.
We loved The Diria for the friendly staff, amazing breakfast and food/drinks in general and the best location on the beach. Very clean and safe property. Highly recommended and can’t wait to go back one day!
It was a perfect place in Tamarindo Posh is the perfect word for it Customer service is-second to none
not my favorite but ok
Great place to stay but the bartenders are horrible!
The Resort is 5 star quality with affordable costs.
Hotel
We throughly enjoyed the property. We first experienced the property with a Gate 1 tour. We liked it so well we came back for another week. The provided breakfast was excellent.
Excellent property and staff. Will defenitely stay here again
Excellent location. Beach and on site pools were nice. Very windy during the day so snorkeling was poor.
Spectacular views, several restaurant options, it has an activities desk, breakfast included
Awesome hotel
Staff was very friendly, beach access was perfect and the food was very good.
The hotel.is beautiful but stay away from room 624. This room smelled like the sewer. For 3 days it stank. We tried covering the shower drain thinking it cane from there. No luck l. We called front desk who cam3 and put something into.the toilet to stop the smell. No luck Still stank Then there is a maintenance shaft in the ground outside your balcony. Staff was there for hours going in and out making it impossible to enjoy your balcony and were loud
Secure & Friendly Great beach Dining options were great selections
January 2025 stay
Great hotel. Staff are very responsive. Great food at the restaurants. Very expensive as everything is priced in USD.
Loved everything about this property. The location is ideal as you are situated in the heart of the downtown core and the frontage of the hotel is directly on the beach. Could always find a chair on the beach front or around one of the pools, and dining overlooking the beach, even though we were visting during the peak season. Never felt overly crowded in the pools or restaurants. Food in restaurants was very good. They have a very good breakfast with plenty of delicious tropical fruit. For coffee lovers, their dark roast coffee is excellent. Staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and quiet and balcony was very private. Mattress was very firm, but allowed for good sleep. Hotel is a little older, but very well maintained. Would highly recommend this resort and would rebook in a heartbeat.
Very noisy in the room from the street noise
Great staff shout out to darlys and brenda
This was our 3rd time here over ? 15 years. The quality and the beachfront bring us back. Three thumbs up!
It was just okay
The Diria never disappoints. This was our 8 th stay at this resort and it was again fantastic.
Beautiful resort in the middle of town, great food, on the ocean. Only complaint room was small.
Property needs to be updated and is definitely not a five star property. Tile in room was cracked in several areas. AC wasn’t working half the time.
Love love love! I've stayed here before and come back to this location due to the amazing experience. Never disappoints! From the monkey in the tree right outside our room, to the iguanas and nature everywhere. Beautiful location! Amazing hotel staff! A
Bugs, right outside the room door I was staying in was not appreciated. I noticed all rooms had it. Most of the staff was welcoming and hospitable. Water in the room shower could not be controlled to any temperature at all.
Lovely hotel. Decent food options and great breakfast ! Queen beds are small but loved the location
The resort was beautiful and the rooms were lovely. The grounds could have been better maintained. In this area we didn’t see much for wildlife but there was a family of monkeys in the trees at the resort which was great!
The property is exceptional, perfectly situated on the beachfront, making it ideal for surfers. There are numerous breakfast options, including gluten-free choices, and the room had a delightful aroma. The staff is wonderful, incredibly friendly, and the hotel is well-maintained.
Great location and service Staff is very friendly
So pleasant
A wonderful day for my wife and I in advance of Christmas
Great location! Beautiful room and clean. Definitely a 5 star in my books. Would like to go again.
We had a room with the tropicana pool view. It was quiet and we felt surrounded by nature even thoug we were in the city.
Property was beautiful, clean but the staff at the front desk and all over the property very unfriendly and unprofessional we stayed for a week and the only one person at the front desk was nice his name was Juan (Argentinian ) young man. Never bothered to asked if we needed anything. Really bad customer service
Don’t know if I would go back.
So close to earning the fifth star. Just little things like better quality toiletries (add conditioner & body lotion). Have towels available at the pool across the street, provide drinking water at the pools, our dresser tops in the room were never cleaned (I cleaned the rings from glasses!).
Great location.
It was a stunning location. Included breakfast buffet was delightful. Liked the available excursions. In town so close to restaurants/shops. Onsite dining also wonderful
The Diria is a wonderful resort and the pool side is excellent as the pool area is serene and beautiful. The breakfast was varied and a convenient way to start the day. Tamarindo is generally quite expensive. There are many good restaurants and several markets to check out. Sunset on the beach with live music is also a great place to go every day.
The property is well maintained and the staff is amazing but one policy was not service friendly. Pool towels are only available at the front desk by trading a ticket with them as a deposit. If you are staying by, or just using the pools away from the front desk, it is very inconvenient and unnecessary. Make the trade for pool towels available at the pools. Both pools have employees there anyway!
We liked all the areas of the resort, on both sides of the street with all the pools and the adult quiet pool. We tried most of restaurants, which were reasonably priced and easy pay with the resort bracelets. The beach is nice but not easy for swimming. The beach chairs are not on the beach, they are on the grass in from of the beach and around the pools. The breakfast is wonderful and has lots of options for everyone. The staff was wonderful. We liked our room except for the room control display and the AC light display that impacted the room darkness. We we able to cover to make the room darker but would recommend using sleep mask if you like to sleep in a dark room. Overall, I would certainly return to Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort, which is on the beach compared to other resort we considering.
It is a beautiful property. The room is spacious w a balcony. We wished that they put in a bit more effort for such a big resort. For example there is no hand soap, lotion or conditioner. They provided 1 small bottle of shampoo and body wash per room. It is a small details that make it a 5-star rating for us
Everything was good except we had to ask several times to get our room cleaned
great
Extensive and delicious breakfast included to start your day. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Lots of activities close by for all ages.
This is my 2nd stay at this resort. It’s close to the local town and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Friendly staff, clean rooms. The only suggestion I wished they had screen doors on the balconies so you could open the doors without letting the mosquitos in.
Old and terrible maintenance rooms
Beach
The hotel itself is fine. It should be made clear that the hotel is separated by the main road running through the town. We were not impressed with the town as a whole. I was offered a selection of drugs as we left the hotel for dinner one evening. We left the resort 3 days early.
Its time to renovate the rooms Broken shower Small rooms
The staff are friendly and attentive. Overall we felt very safe. The pools are clean!
I absolutely fell in fell with this place! The location is perfect with walkable to everything, the views from the lobby and main restaurant were gorgeous, beachfront, they have several pool were you can order drinks and food! The staff is so friendly! I will be back!!
Staff were rude when asked about filling a water bottle.
I couldn’t find an elevator or easy access to the rooms, Law7600 demands accessibility to all persons
The Resort is nice and big, but don’t have any music or show for entertainment on the evening while you at the bar or for dinner time. Everyone was looking for something to do
A beautiful property. Relaxing and comfortable. So close to everything.
Wonderful staff. Breakfast had many options and was delicious. I’d go into town to book tours though… cheaper.
