Unwelcoming environment, it did not feel clean or safe. Very strange protocols…we were asked to make payments without receipts, we had to leave our room key at the front desk before leaving etc. Convenient location but that’s about all there is to say positively.
Overall accommodation is in an easy commutable location, staff are very friendly and professional. Heating system not working and there are no door mats outside the toilets causing lot of inconvenience. Over all comfortable place with the price.
Very good staff. Close to Rome center
Super weird hotel. I had to return the key every time o wanted to leave and there was no ID verification to pick up the key (I sent a different kid every time and they never asked for anything just handed over the key). The door didnt lock (if it did someone was going into our room and leaving it unlocked) the shower was held together with tape and there was no hot water (I had to ask about it and still it was only like warm). The bed were just thin mattresses on metal frames, except one that was a “couch” but this was also held together with tape, broken and sagging in the middle (when I brought this up it was tapped together with a poster) ANTS!! They were everywhere and I let the desk know, just like the shower, and the bed and the lock nothing was done. They were in the clothes, the bed, the tables … epic fail. I was worried about this hotel after reading reviews like mine then shocker I had the same experience. So frustrating. What was the worst was I reached out to cancel due to the safety concerns and was denied by the hotel. Then when checking in and staying I experienced most of the concerns I had. This hotel should NOT be listed on here and it should not be open for children.
Tv did not work shower hard to cl8mb up into. Had to step up a level in bathroom to toilet and shower. Weird.
The sink and shower were very slow draining and the toilet never stopped running. I let the manager know but nothing was addressed. Bath towel was only slightly larger than a hand towel. No hand towel provided. The site was very convenient and I felt safe. Very easy access to metro, trains and buses. Shop owners and restaurants were very friendly. Many restaurants to choose from.
The only unique thing about this property is location however other i wouldn't recommend it at all. I book a two bed room and a one really small bed and a big bed, now the small bed was not even ready when we arrived. Secondly the guy at desk told us we had to pay in either cash only or card only for city tax which didn't make no sense. The room itself had a lot of cracks in the wall, the beds were hard and the door handle from the outside was not working properly had to force open the door at times. Would not recommend unless for one night.
Expedia should delist this property immediately. This is a scam and a trap. You will be placed in jail cell instead of a hotel room. Bugs will bite you. You will smoked under heat as your AC will not work. Trap is that, you are close to station so you get attracted and end up booking it. Do not book this place at all I will be reporting this to Rome health office too. I spent a night in hell as I have no other place to go.
Old Matresses, only one room key with a 5kg weight attached to it. Hot water intermittant, as well as, internet.
Staff is very good and flexible Room nice, clean and quiet
I liked how close the apartment was to Rome Termini, and the room itself was clean. However the hotel was often a little tough to access and navigate from front door to room
The room has no sound insulation. Even though we were on the fourth floor, we could hear the garbage machines early in the morning and the cars go by. The pillows were hard. I’ve never seen a pillow like these pillows. My daughter complained her beds was on a slant. I checked, it was. My wife complained the beds were hard. The good thing about the hotel is that is a couple of minutes walk from the train station. 22 minutes walk to the colosseum and 2.5 miles to the Vatican. Food and shopping right around the hotel. Nicely located. It has the smallest elevator I have ever seen. There is a sign you can only load it with two people or one person and a bag. A bit scary if you asked me. The high ceilings make the fourth floor like an eighth floor, so take care walking up. Even being so high up, it was very noisy in the morning.
Very good hotel, simply press intercom to enter the building. Greeted by very nice staff, super powerful AC under 37° of Rome. The staff also allowed us to drop off bags before check in and a while after check out.
The staff were friendly and the accommodation was good value for money.
This hotel should be removed from Hotels.com
I bought new shoes and left them in the hotel. When I returned, they were gone. I approached the hotel manager about the situation, but before I could explain, they insisted that nothing gets stolen in their hotel. They didn't offer any solutions and accused me of lying to get compensation. The room was very dirty, especially the restroom and bath area, and the bedding seemed like it hadn't been washed in ages. The hotel manager tried to charge me 110 euros for the Rome tax. I informed them that children under 12 shouldn't be included in the tax, and they agreed to 55 euros. However, on the last day before checkout, they demanded more than 55 euros for an unclear reason, which I refused to pay the additional. They also refused to give me a detailed receipt for my stay.
I do not recommend this place. There were many problems with it. Yes, it was near Termini which was nice, but it is a sketchy area. The staff was hit or miss. The reception is open 24/7 and when you leave the building you have to give them your room key, but when you come back and get your room key you don't have to prove that it's your room, you just come in and tell them which key you'd like... It seemed not very safe in that regard. Also we spoke Italian but the staff did not. They refused to speak Italian and they only spoke English. Regarding the room, we had multiple problems, the bathroom being the biggest. The mechanics of the toilet were bad. The water would not fill up in the tank, so the flushing didn't work. We asked the person at the front desk to help us and he got it to flush but didn't tell us how to fix it and just told us that we used too much toilet paper. We ended up figuring it out, but we shouldn't have to play with the toilet mechanics to get it to flush every time. In the tank we found old Pepsi cans the staff used to try to keep the flushing mechanism working... Also the bathroom smelled very strongly of chlorine and it wasn't pleasant. The room looks just like it does in the photos. It was clean, but there wasn't much room to maneuver. Also the TV was weird, it was like an android phone on the TV screen. It took us a while to get it to work.
We were told at check in that there was no electricity and were put in another hotel with worse ratings. The room had peeling wall paper, cracked ceiling, bad smell, wasn’t clean, and wifi didn’t work.
Bathroom mold needs attention. Room nicely refreshed daily. Staff helpful.
Nearby in Romano Termini, lot of small business Restaurant in the surroundings that you can recommend to all Tourist, Atleast 20 mins.walk to Coliseum
Way overpriced
Beds were hard as a rock, front desk not very helpful, decor outdated, no air just one window.
Very tired. Rooms are in need of serious renovation (shower wand had to lay on floor, towel bar fell apart, desk was wobbly, headboard 'repaired' and decorated with red tape) and redecorating (wall paper damaged, furniture in bad shape). Staff were good and the location is great, very close to Termini with some nice restaurants on the doorstep.
It is not obvious where the hotel entrance is. We ended up walking into the Hotel California located directly next door. It must happen a lot because the concierge desk was not the most welcoming or helpful. The location is a 5 minute walk to Termini Station which made it super easy to travel around the city. There are several restaurants just outside the hotel, all reasonably priced and one open for breakfast that was beyond just a croissant and coffee. The building was quite old, but does include a small elevator making it easy to take luggage up and down. There is a 24-hour concierge desk; however the staff are not overly friendly, though they did everything that we asked of them including arranging a taxi pick up to head to the airport. It took minutes to get a taxi as they come from Termini station. The room was clean; however you only receive clean towels every third day which was disappointing. The beds were rock hard and not the most comfortable. The room served our purpose of a place to lay our heads for our three-night stay, but I would not have wanted to be there much longer than that.
Basic hotel , clean & tidy , pleasant staff. Room clean tidied daily fresh towels etc. Limited facilities but as a hub for station and sites of room satisfactory. No breakfast or restaurant but ample around area. Would be happy to use again but is at the budget end of market b
Overall, the room was old, but it was nice with a table for the family and plenty of space to spread out various suitcases. However, the shower curtain is very old and dirty and needs to be replaced.
Room with no hot water, do not waste $
Not a hotel, it’s a hall with rooms and very run down with no hot water.
Size of the room and layout was perfect for a family of four, one double, two single beds. Room was a little tired, decor was dated. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was poor.
Avoid
Horrible. Bed is not comfortable. Shower is broken. Out dated. Smells. Old. Room is too small. Just not a good experience at all.
Close to train station. Budget accommodations.
We were very close of the train station that was a plus. A lot of options to ear
The staff was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The shower would be challenging for many as it is a VERY large step up/down to enter the shower.
We really liked the Italian feel to the room and the fact that they had security checks at every door which made us feel safe
Near to train station and central Rome, friendly staff. Toilet didn’t work properly in room and wasn’t fixed even after 36 hours necessitating room change. Saves in both rooms didn’t work.
Well - we got there early and they took our passport information and we left our bags as our room wasn’t ready. We departed and toured the Vatican and walked around the city. We returned to the hotel at about 7:00. Our room there that we had reserved based on the pictures and comments was no longer available. The front desk guy took us across the street “to another hotel owned by the same people.” I can say that we saw no signs of bugs. But, I would also say in my thirty years of traveling I have not stayed in a room worse than this. Lucky it was only one night. The people running the place were friendly. But, not a nice place....
Uncomfortable and bad service
I understand that this is a budget stay, so if that’s what your looking for it’s fine. It’s old and aged, but for the most part clean. The bathroom could’ve used a more detailed scrub down. It’s a great location, next to the train station. Plenty of restaurants and shops.
Very good for the price.
Shower door was broken (but usable). Room was very small. Everything else was very good.
The hotel was a little difficult to find and get into but the directions on their actual website helped a lot. The room was clean but there was some stains on some of the fabrics and there was a few chunks of hair in one of the beds that may have been trapped in one of the blankets when it was washed that shook free or left when it was being made that was not what you wanted to see when opening your bed.
The hotel is close from restaurant, museum and transportation terminals.
Location was good, rest meh
Apart from location, nothing was good. If you're thinking of living with kids, don't.
Convenient. But not recommended for vacation.
So... this location from train station is VERY convenient. The room is good sized! It’s not very comfortable and has a pay by the hour type of feeling. We had rented it more because we wanted a place near the station to keep our things and quick shower before heading to the airport.
Very nice staff. The room is dated but they maintain very well and clean. Location is good
Basic and adequate
Good location. Friendly staff. Small room. Shower glass doors detailed and dirty. Water leaking from refrigerator.
The room was spacious, very clean and everything in good working order. The receptionist was willing to go above and beyond her duties to be helpful, which was a lovely touch. I must add, the room was very quiet and able to have a peaceful nights sleep. The beds were very firm but I’m sure staff would have even helped with this had we mentioned it. For the size and facilities this was a very good find in a slightly more relaxed and convenient location.
False advertising. Poor customer service, instead of resolving issue at hand authority of hotel sweet home urgue with guest. Poor propessionalism.
I had no problem. Staff was amazing the night guy was super helpful. In general I was very satisfied. Location was great for us.
The Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Nice restaurants just steps from the entrance. Very close to Colosseum. Two blocks from Rome Termini Train and Metro station.
It’s a very nice hotel. With a small bathroom. They essentially have bought multiple apartments and converted each room into a hotel room and converted the closets to bath and washroom. The toilet was crammed with the sink right in your face :-/ The walls between the hotel “ rooms” are thin and you can hear the neighbouring units. I wouldn’t go there if you have kids but if you need a place to crash it’s great!
We had one issue when we checked into the hotel. We were placed in another one-star hotel without explanation. However, when we raised this issue with the management they moved us to the correct hotel next day.
Expedia exagerated the facilities, such as stocked minibar. There is a cooler but they no longer stock it with anything. That is Expedia mis representing. It is 2 star.
The first day we arrived after a very last nag flight, the gal at the front desk said to pay the city tax in cash not credit and thankfully we just had enough cash to pay it. They then began to tell us the plumbing was broke in our room and said we could go across the street to another hotel until the room was ready. The hotel across the street was awful. Worse than youth hostels. But we were tired and wanted to sleep. The manager assured us the room was just as nice as Sweet Home which was a complete lie. The manager did not reimburse us for putting us in a terrible inconvenience and in a rotten hotel. Two days later we came back to sweet home. The only plus to the hotel was the nice young lady working the desk most days and the location was 2 blocks from Termini. Otherwise our family felt uncomfortable at times and felt that we could not trust the management of this hotel.
The staff were really nice and friendly. The rooms were clean with fresh towels provided when requested. The area is so convenient, surrounded by restaurants and the bus and underground stations are 3 mins walk away. The only thing I didn’t like was the sink and shower are a bit blocked, so it takes a while for water to drain and the aircon and refrigerator were not cool enough. But all in all, we felt safe and enjoyed staying at the hotel.
The property is an antique building located in the center of Rome, near to the Roma terminal. Is perfect if you just need a place where to sleep while you go to explore Rome. Very clean and organized the only detail is that the toilet had a bit issue since the water doesn’t run strong from the plumbers Everything else was perfect
Convenient location and friendly staff. Good value.
Good location close to termino station and a lot of places to eat around. Need a revamp, bathroom was not properly cleaned it has soap scum and shampoo leftover from previous guest.
I booked the apartment, very pleased with location, close to main train station Roma Termini, also very close to main attractions. Staff were very good, polite, Proffesional. Apartment was great, it could have been much better if few areas got fixed up, but I would definitely book again.
Location to food and there was a lift in the building!
WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO
Good location and very near to nice restaurants. Terrible service because the manager and the staff do not know how to take accountability for their mistakes. 1. They offered to arrange a private taxi to pick us up from airport but no one was waiting for us when we arrived. Imagine the stress that they caused us!! 2. The manager did not issue a receipt when we paid for our stay!!!!! 3. They cleaned our room but did not change the towels 4. There are only 2 sockets in the room for 4 people. 5. The manager told us that he will book a taxi for us to drop us off at the airport on the day of our flight home, but when we checked out, the hotel staff on duty doesn’t know anything about it. It’s like the staff are not talking to one another regarding the requests and needs of their clients. The manager doesn’t know how to manage the hotel and the staff. THEY DO NOT OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES AND THEY KEEP ON BLAMING OTHERS FOR THEIR WRONGDOINGS.
Location was great, place was secured and rooms huge. Appreciated the fact that the staff was very kind and helpful.
The good: Checking was easy and staff was pleasant and friendly. We felt secure with video cameras and buzzing us inside hotel and to room corridor. Location was good, many restaurants and shops around. Room was clean and we had plenty of room, with beds for our entire family. The bad: AC was not cooling well, so it was hot in the room, and the sheets were uncomfortable and made alot of noise every time someone moved.
Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and in a good location for access to the train station, the owner was especially welcoming. The hotel reception is on the first floor and some of the rooms are also on the second floor accessed by a communal lift, access to the building and second floor rooms requires you to be buzzed in, which makes you feel safer. Rooms were a good size for a city hotel and well equipped, bathrooms a little cramped but normal for city hotels where space is a premium. As a side note there is an excellent restaurant located right outside the hotel so you don’t need to travel for a good meal. Overall very happy with the experience and would definitely recommend this place
Hotel sweet home, a great stay in Rome
Hotel is conveniently situated for a great stay. Close to Termini station & a 20 minute walk to The Colloseum,Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps. Room was perfect for our 4 night stay & the staff are just so friendly, polite & helpful. Roger, Bruno & Abdul thankyou for everything!
The hotel is very close to the Roma Termini and all the great train connections you can do there. It is clean and the staff were extremely accommodating. It has lots of restaurants and convenience stores close by.
Such friendly and helpful staff. Thanks Bruno and Roger. Enjoyed our stay. Position near Termini station was excellent our only problem was our room was right at reception which was 24 hours so could here every noise or person who walked in. We got used to it and we did get offered to move to another room but otherwise it was very convenient. Would definitely recommend this little home away from home
We stayed here for one night, and we chose this hotel because of its proximity to Rome Termini. The staff was lovely, and there were plenty of restaurants in walking distance. The room was also plenty spacious for three of us.
great location, a few minutes walk from main train station & city buses
Strange to be told we cannot be take the room key with us by the manager. Especially after going out to dinner and finding that our bags had been good through. Bags and belonging were in different places than where they were when we left.
Close to Roma Termini
Great hotel next to train station
Great location to the train and metro. Great beds and fun decor. Friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating. We land early in the morning. They took are bags so we could get right out.
The hotel is located conveniently close to the train station and several restaurants in the locality. Bruno and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful in providing tips to navigate through Rome. The room was very clean too, with limited amenities as expected of a budget hotel.
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean room with sufficient amenities.
This is a great location if you want to be close to the Termini train station. There is a lot to do, a very helpful staff. The only downsides were that the room was dated and our WiFi was not very strong. But considering the price, things went quite well.
Centrally Located Super Clean Helpful Staff Great value for money Close to train station Surrounded by restaurants and coffee bars
Very close to Termini station. Lots of restaurants and groceries nearby.
All is tip-top. From checking in n service all is goos. Would recommend this hotel to my connections
Very convenient to everything Rome. Very helpful staff. Plenty of nearby restraints.
Brilliant central yet quiet location. Very clean and the beds were comfortable. Hosts were very helpful. Definitely recommended.
A wee gem of a hotel very close to the railway station and many restaurants. Our room was small but very clean and the staff were wonderful, very friendly and knowledgable. Recommended
Plain, clean, near Termini, but bad wifi & service
Plain, but clean hotel near Roma Termini. Wifi was not working and staff refused to help.
Old hotel, but glamourous in it's own way
Very cosy little hotel. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Shower was very small but did the job. Didn't receive an air con remote so just used the ceiling fan, had only 1 speed: maximum. But once again, it did the job. Has a lot of character. I'd recommend it due to it's staff.
For the room near the reception area, it's a little noisy
Great vacation on Italia/Rome
Convenient Location, close to everything, good price and staff friendly
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful ! Room was very clean and felt very much appreciated by staff. They helped arrange for shuttle to airport. Would stay again without a problem. convenient two minute walk to train station and lots of options for food immediately outside the hotel.
Beware, they make you drop off your keys at the front desk every time you leave your room. And make you come pick them up every time you want to go back to your room. They also yelled at me and threatened me saying the police are outside my window because I brought my friend past midnight to have a drink. They made us sit out in the lobby by the door to have our drinks. We werent allowed to drink in my room. It was also creepy having so many surveillance cameras everywhere and even right outside your door. Not worth the money when other hotels in the area dont micromanage you to that extent. Plus the pillow in the room was flat and I had to put a blanket under it to support my neck.
Perfect location. Near main train station, in the middle of a neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants.
Not what I had expected. The hotel is in need of an upgrade especially the bedding.
Rome Termini
Very close to Termini stn, very friendly and helpful front desk staff, great AC. Beds comfortable, WiFi very weak
Had the first room next to reception and was worried about noise but it was fine. It is a really good property if you are on a budget! It was just overnight so it did the job and really near Termini train station!
Nice hotel close to veniece . 1 bus to veniece
Easy to find the hotel is on the main road . Friendly staff.
Exceptionally good personal service, from the confirmation notes to any contact with the staff. They are extremely service-minded and read me and my companions needs perfectly. Hotel is exceptionally well located with a couple of hundred meeters to all transportation you may need; tram, trains, metro or buses, including hop-on-hop off busses. I strongly recommend this location for your Rome tour stay. Easy access to both FCO airport and Ostia beaches or Ostia Antica as well.
Nice Hotel, short walk to Termini station
Good location, walking distance to most attractions, train station, Metro stops. Fanatastic restaurants right outside the door! Reasonable shopping a couple blocks over room was nice and quiet. Very helpful staff.
Everyone who worked there was wonderful
Sheets/towels fresh, but curtains and bedspreads are dingy. Beds and pillows hard, flat. Bathroom mildew stained. WiFi inconsistent, TV small and in a bad location, a/c weak. Staff nice, room quiet.
Loved the service and room was spacious
Great stay with great attendants! Beds weren’t best but the service makes up for it! Thank you for letting us stay! We will be back!
Family Holiday
The hotel is very close to the train station. May take 5 min. if you are a slow walker. This is the second time I have stayed at “Home Sweet Home”. The first time we had a large room for four persons (4 twin beds) with a good sized bath. This time we had a small room for four persons (4 twin beds) and a tiny bath. The beds were lined along one wall with 2-4” between them. The air-conditioning worked really good and cooled off room fast. WiFi is not so good but it is like that in other areas of Italy as well. We ate dinner at the restaurant downstairs in front of hotel. What we ordered was very good. To find the hotel — facing the tracks - exit to your right. I believe it was one street over.
Central Hotel
The room had good facilities with a nice en-suite and TV however I wasn't so happy with the room's door security and handling of the reception on arrival. Overall, a little pricey but a good, central stay that is conveniently close to the train station.
We only stayed one night, the hotel is near the Termini Train station. The shower head was not steady, the beds really small, well i guess ok for one night.
Quaint & Inexpensive
Cute location ofbthis hotel. I felt safe and eager to try the restaurants nearby. Desk staff very personable. Room was very clean, but bed was hard. A little dated wall paper, bed covering and tables. It does not provide a continental breakfast which was fine. It served my purpose of an inexpensive stay, shelter near the sites I wanted to see with a safe surrounding. I’d recommend it, if your looking to see Italy from a tourist or local’s perspective.
I enjoyed my stay at sweet home.the location is perfect for both airport transit and site seeing.

Toilet didn't lock
Good and comfortable however toilet did not lock
