This was a great find a few minutes walk from the train station. My room was very clean and updated. I was worried there would be a lot of street noise but the windows blocked the vast majority of it. The free breakfast was really nice too! Oh how I hate American bread.

Great Stay in Zurich

I had a wonder stay at The Hotel St Josef. The reception staff as well as the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful!

This was a convenient location close to the train station, Old Town and other sightseeing areas. The staff were really friendly and helpful with showing us the areas we wanted to go to on the map in English. The breakfast was tasty and satisfying and included a variety of meats, cheeses, yogurts, granola, breads, jams. We would stay there again.

Great location and really clean. What stood out was the welcome by the lady at the counter. I feel bad for not remembering but she was simply amazing. We were there for one night as it was the last leg of our trip but she was amazing and walked us to our room. The floor in our room was very squeaky as I’m sure comes with historical buildings. The room was very clean. I’d stay again.

Lovely hotel and wonderful friendly staff. Easy walk to the old town on both sides of the river, and only 5-10 minutes' walk to Bahnhofstrasse, with many shopping options. Room was large, with comfortable bed and sofa, good WiFi, good TV, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Far enough away from the bars and noise, but easy to walk everywhere.

Great stay to see Christmas markets!

We were extremely happy with our stay. Check in was easy and everything was ready when we arrived. The room and bathroom were very roomy. Everything was very clean and fresh. Also, the shower was large and walk-in, which was a nice feature. Breakfast was very nice, too. It is within easy walking distance to the train station but follow the directions! The hotel is up a hill and you need to get up a ramp, otherwise there are steep stairs! The front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful! Thanks!

A wonderful boutique hotel close to the train station and old town Zurich. The staff was very friendly and the young woman who checked us in actually walked us over to our room that was in a building separated by a courtyard. Although we traveled by train, there was plenty of parking on the side street in front of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience the historic part of Zurich.

Negative was ac for building was turned off and room was very warm.

the staff at St Josef were so friendly and helpful; every morning we were greeted with a friendly smile and hello, the free breakfast was a highlight and very satisfying. the rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. Great location, close to the heart of the city and transit options. Nice, modern and clean room. Staff went out their way to help us with some transit options and information.

We were created by the sweetest girl who made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was amazing with great options and some homemade options. It was very close to the main train station. It was just amazing!!

2 Night Stay in Zurich

It was an easy 15 minute walk from the train station. Good breakfast. Good location. Room was clean. Front desk staff recommended the Swiss Chuchi Restaurant at Hotel Adler. We enjoyed it so much we went there two nights. A good variety of food, not just fondue.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and entire complex was extremely clean. Very quiet as well. Great bed and you can ask for an assortment of pillows via tablet in room if needed

Amazing and very cozy.

We found the staff to be so obliging and helpful. It is close to The Old Town, Train station and restaurants. The room with the Balcony was spacious with a small bathroom. We enjoyed the Breakfast and all the choices of food. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Zürich.

Great staff!!! All were so friendly, informative and helpful. They went above and beyond when one of our travel party left their passport in a room safe. They got the passport out of the safe and scanned/emailed a copy to us very quickly. Then held on to it until we could return. They also prepared to go breakfast bags for our group when we were checking out at 6:30am. Spacious rooms and breakfast was great with lots of variety. Love that the hotel is close to the train station and lots of shops and restaurants.

Close to city center has own parking

An affordable option in a good area. It's not the fanciest hotel but the room was nice and I felt that we got more than we paid for. Plus, they include a free breakfast that consisted of meats, cheeses, breads, cereal and boiled eggs. My only critique was the size of the shower, which was very small: less than 3 ft X 3 ft. Everything else was modernized, clean and efficient.

We will come back again and will tell our friends ! Clean? Wonderful people and great location !

Great place and location!

Super close to all attractions in the Altstadt! We were pleasantly surprised with the huge breakfast offerings each morning and the free passes to the Zoo and Kunsthaus museum. The staff were so helpful as well.

Hotel St. Josef is a really lovely oasis in the middle of Zurich. It is close to multiple forms of public transportation and to the train station (side note: do not take trains through Germany to get to Zurich...you will regret it!). The staff is friendly (although inconsistent in their English fluency, ranging from good to none). Once sleep time comes the rooms of wonderfully quiet (Zurich is a quiet city in general), and logically and ergonomically organized. Great shower (if a bit leaky to the floor due to a shower curtain arrangement) and the bed was very comfortable. I also liked that there was one hard and one squishy pillow. It is great to have a choice. Breakfast is good, although European (no omelette bar or waffle/pancake maker here), with the typically outstanding European bread options. Good vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, and yummy yogurt and, of course, excellent coffee and tea options. I also ate in the restaurant for dinner and it, too, was quite good. A lovely little jewel of a hotel that I found serendeipitously but will definitely stay at again if in Zurich.

Problem confirming reservation as money taken from card prior to arrival without notification or authorisation (which resulted in card being cancelled by bank). Therefore needed to confirm reservation both through Expedia and directly with the hotel.

Kindness and warm welcome

We were really impressed by St Josef. We were traveling with a toddler, so we didn’t know what to expect. It’s in a great location close to everything. The rooms were modern, clean, and smelled great. The staff were the friendliest. We highly recommend it!

Clean quite, excellent breakfast, spotless good size room, super nice staff. 2 minutes walking to old town, 7 minutes to train station, and right next to university of Zurich.

We stayed one night in Zurich and Hotel St. Joseph was a perfect fit for us. Walkable from Zurich HB, friendly staff that spoke English and was very helpful, easy walk to Old Town, clean and quiet. Breakfast on the outdoor patio was great as well.

Loved the hotel. Breakfast buffet was great and dinner food delicious. The staff were very helpful and always pleasant. The service was excellent. The only problem is that there are no drawers, no bureau in the room in which to put clothing and the number of hangers for two people are very limited. Having to live out of our suitcases was very inconvenient.

We liked the hotel very much. Unfortunately we got in late and had to leave very early in the morning. We will definitely return on our next trip to Zurich and would hope to be able to enjoy the hotel longer.

The room was spacious. There are a few steps to enter the lobby without a wheelchair ramp. The rooms are set at 24C/75F. Too warm to sleep and we couldn't turn it down. There is no air conditioning! The breakfast was nice.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Walkable to old town and restaurants. A tip: it is located on a small hillside requiring steps but if you walk down further to the traffic lights there is a ramp for your luggages.

Good location

Excellent hotel, location great set back a little from the centre but close to rail station and trams. Comfortable bed, decent choices at breakfast, beer available to purchase at Reception. Room had an excellent bathroom. I will stay here again when next in Zurich.

Superb hotel! Lovely location overlooking the Old Town Zurich core and within walking distance of the main train station. Surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. The room was nicely equipped and decorated. The complimentary breakfast was a satisfying self-serve repast of fruits, meats, and baked goods. A true gem!

Newly renovated the staff was very helpful. Our first time in Zurich. Breakfast was amazing and plenty for everyone Would highly recommend adding English language to the cable. We will definitely recommend your hotel.

Still Love This Hotel

Have stayed here before and will stay again. Extremely friendly staff, clean, convenient to center of city. It is not luxurious, just a basic, clean, well-maintained, comfortable room. A bargain for its location. Good continental breakfast, all fresh and local so far as I can tell.

Charming Hotel in a convenient location

My wife and I spent a lovely 3 days at the Hotel St. Josef in the wonderful city of Zurich. The hotel is near the old town area of the city and within a few blocks of restaurants, bars and the river. The hotel was very clean and the staff were especially helpful. If I had any concerns it was that the beds (and I say beds because it is a practice in Europe to find that two single beds are pushed together to make a double) were in need of new mattresses. They were very close to the floor and I would not recommend for anyone with knee problems because it could be hard to get up in the morning. The other issue for us was that the shower was really small, even compared to most European showers. This hotel is probably best for young, fit people.

Nice Stay

Stayed one night by myself and it was perfect price and location. I could easily walk to the train station with my luggage and make it to the airport in time. I was able to explore the city and take a water taxi all around. The room was clean and quiet and even has a mini fridge. Breakfast was great. I felt safe there and the staff was helpful. Would stay again.

It's a average hotel with poor air conditioning. It's on height so very tough to go up with luggage.

Spotless, everywhere. Check in people wore masks. Styleweise, its slightly an "old style" place, but still in excellent condition.

All staff were so friendly and upbeat that they actually improved by spirits despite the fact that I was very tired from travel. I love the quiet location, yet close to downtown and the train station. I love the breakfast and breakfast room.

Close to train station in convenient location (although you have to go up the hill). Room is small, but that is typical for Switzerland. Very nice breakfast.

Hotel in a quiet convenient location

the hotel was very accommodating when we arrived early and they gave us a room that was ready very much appreciated after an overnight flight. The location is great with easy access to the old town and all it has to offer. The breakfast was great. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we will be back

Only stayed one night but on check in Sasha was super friendly and helpful. Stayed in economy room for one and it was a pleasant size and even bed was bigger than normal twin bed. Was a Saturday so I could hear noise often but it is a great location and short walk from main train station. Would definitely stay again.

We arrived a little early and the staff let us have our room. It’s in a great location near old Zürich town. Walking distance to train station. The breakfast was also nice.

The loft room is perfect for one small person and reasonably priced. This hotel is walkable to and from the main train station (HB) if you know the direction. Property sits just above the cafes and shops and has a beautiful Starbucks near. Cold breakfast has variety and the service ladies are kind and helpful. Front desk clerks are kind and helpful.

The front desk staff are exceptionally nice and thoughtful, starting with being taken up to our room and showing us the facilities. Small boutique type hotel in an excellent location near old tow. Great walking area. Close to Old Town and the Central Train Station. The room was fine. Clean, modern, comfortable, quiet, enough space for our 2 suitcases and to move around easily. Nice bathroom. Basic amenities: 1 glass (The spot for the 2nd glass empty the first day but replaced with next 2 cleaning staff on consecutive days), very basic towels that were poor quality so some fraying. The bath-mat was really shredding on the sides & I asked for a new one (and one new hand towel for same reason) when staff was in the room seeing to the AC. We were unable to cool our room down & asked the front desk how it worked. She came up to the room, saw the problem (no one had attached a hot air outflow hose, returned and fixed it. Impressive. The included breakfast in the hotel restaurant was excellent. Lots to choose from. One thing that would change the hotel from a 4 to a 5 star hotel for me is something simple. Replace the cheap, thin towels with good quality ones. The effect would be outstanding. The rest of the hotel & amenities are first class. We would definitely recommend the Hotel St. Josef and we would definitely stay there again.

The property is well maintained, clean and well located only two blocks from train and tram station. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was incredible many items to pick from. I would definitely stay there again.

The breakfast was really good. The staff are very friendly. The room however did not have ac but a portable one and the bathroom does not have fans. The shower is really small.

I thought the staff was especially competent and helpful...even walked me to my room upon checking in. It was great to have the restaurant in the hotel.

The room was in a separate building and the building front door, room door and the electricity in the room were all based on the key. They only gave one key. Which means that if i want to go out to get something, the other guests will have to sit in the dark. The room was on a very noisy road. No central ac. They gave an independent ac unit which needed an outlet out of the window, which means that we had to suffer the road noise. No room service. If we needed anything, we had to go to the building next door through the main road. Very basic breakfast. No hot food items. No fruits, just couple of whole apples.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly, the location is very good in terms of sightseeing and public transport
