Great place to stay. Unfortunately the spa area was unavailable
5 stars
Top notch staff & service. Clean rooms, big beds, wifi, we did laundry, we did couples massages, free breakfast in the restaurant attached to it. Safe neighborhood, close to shopping and transportation. Rodrigo did an amazing job. Transport to Quito airport provided.
Overall beautiful property in Riobamba. My husband & I were originally placed in a much smaller room than what we had booked. A bit of an inconvenience, but staff corrected situation once I informed them. Loved the suite (once we were moved to the correct room) & would highly recommend!! We were not given any information about breakfast, spa, etc. when we checked in so that would be my suggestion for an area to improve on
The gardens were amazing. The staff was very nice
Beautiful place and excellent food.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Excellent! Staff were extremely helpful and kind!
The staff was exceptional and Angel was extremely helpful.
Nice place
We stayed here because it was recommended in the 2022 Lonely Planet. The property was beautiful, the room was cramped as the Loenly Planet mentioned. Everything was clean and staff were very attentive. We visited the spa twice, which is only open by appointment right now. I thought it was overpriced, but it was very pretty and clean. It was $44 for use of the jacussi for 2 hours and $55 for jacuzzi with the two saunas. We also did a couple massage which was $80 total. That was already, I wouldn't do it again. The parking was a little inconvenient but it was still nice to have safe parking. There is a gate in the back of the property that they have to open for you to put the car into. The free breakfast is great. Overall I would recommend this place.
Very nice stay in this beautiful classic building. We had a king suite which came with double sink, shower and a soaking bathtub in the suite. Nice big comfortable king bed. The staff were always very friendly. Food at the restaurant was very nice. The hotel is right in the center of riobamba, 10 minute stroll to the main strip of restaurants and bars/clubs. 2 minutes from the central park and the train station. Very safe town, had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.
Looks like a beautiful historic property however the family suites are worn. Carpet is stained and needs replacing. Things like taps and faucets are barely attached. Rough shape.
The property is great, and the breakfast is really good.
Beautiful architecture and decor. Quiet room, excellent breakfast. Best dinner in Riobamba. Staff is super helpful. Just one little problem: it was unusually cold, a space heater would have been great, but would stay there again.
The building is really nice with nice older style rooms. The staff is not very professional. Woke us up to move cars in order to get more cars in a special parking lot behind the hotel. Was really no restaurant so the team improvised but would have been better just not open the restaurant. The hotel is in the middle of town which is really nice as you can walk to most of the interesting places.
Nice place, good service but poorly insulated ( very noisy)
Beautiful old mansion with beautiful antiques, wonderful old high-ceilinged rooms, good WiFi, a fantastic breakfast, and an excellent staff
Ok place for a night staff was great.
I'm not sure what can be done, but in the room above mine there was an inconsiderate woman with high heel shoes on tromping around at all hours. Really disturbed my sleep. Otherwise I would have have rated this hotel excellent.
Amazing place to spend the night, colorful, smell good and very clean
Super comfortable room. We had a bigger room with sofa. The bed was really comfortable. Easy walking distance every where.
Excellent
Wonderful full breakfast. Helpful desk, English speaking, beautiful building, large bed, modern bath, hot water.
The property was beautiful and made for an enjoyable lay over. The flooring was highly polished and the stairs were a little slippery as a result of the oily finish on them.
Overall nice, clean stay. Room very basic, ridiculously wide bed made it hard to get in/out of. Desk clerks served double duty as waiters so not always available. Close to center of town. Dinners were quite good.
Don’t waste you money. Terrible experience First, no wifi in the room I was assigned. Move me to another room. Next day no hot water in the shower!!!! Riobamba is super cold. As for breakfast no room to sit and they run out of it I got late to work and hungry Worst part the manager did not care to apologize
Clean, quiet and convenient to train station
The Mansion Santa Isabella (MSI) is well over 100 years old but it has been refurbished nicely. You can often tell the age and wear of a hotel by the bathroom. But the MSI bathroom is very modern with a Scandanavian touch. The main entry and reception area is colonial Spanish style. There is continuing work on the lower level but it isn’t apparent to guests. The hotel is very quiet. We selected the hotel because it is only two blocks from the train station where we booked “Tren del Hielo” trip to Chimborazo and the hotel let us park our car, leave the bags in our room and check out when we returned to Riobamba at 2:30 from the train excursion. The manager is very knowledgeable about the history of Riobamba and the hotel’s place in that history. Very interesting.
Santa Isabella
They were most helpful in making my stay wonderful. Lovely hotel.
Short overnight stay
Arrived late and left early the next morning. Person at the reception was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style including lots of fresh fruit, juices and even seeded bread which I had not come across in any other hotel. Rooms look nice. Bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner. There was a heavy smell of deodorizer in the room. Overall ok, but I found it to be a little bit overpriced.
Superb
Excellent location, lovely atmosphere, delicious food both for breakfast and lunch, very clean rooms. The staff were so kind and gracious, truly going above and beyond anything required of them.
Nice central hotel in Riobamba
Helpful staff although disappointed there was not a whole bunch of drinks from the menu
Nice hotel in this city.
Great place for an overnight, or longer stay. Very good service.
Lovely colonial building
We loved the building and the large bed and roomy bathroom. The shower rose needed replacement and was set too high for adjustment. Television needed resetting - wouldn't work. Staff were helpful. Location is good $3 taxi fare to bus station.
Good choice
Good hotel comfortable and clean in convenient area
A classy place to stay
The hotel itself was wonderful. I didn't feel that Riobamba itself was a very interesting town but it was a good stopover point on my travels.
A lovely old building with modernised bedrooms.
I was aiming to stay at the well-reviewed San Pedro Hotel in Riobamba, but they were full and I ended up here. It's a really well-run place, the staff are absolutely charming. We had a great big room with a lovely bathroom, lots of hot water. Plenty of nice stuff for breakfast. It's close to the train station which is handy and about ten minutes walk from the religious art museum (which is amazing).
Nice hotel
Great staff. Very clean. Quiet. Comfy beds. Only downside was really poor water pressure and spotty wifi. On site restaurant has great food!
Vintage Hotel
Lovely place to stay in safe location; easy access to center of town.
Repeat Guest
This is my second stay at the hotel and everything was fine. I like the location and the service that is provided. The rates seem firm for the Riobamba area.
You'll feel like you're part of the family!
We spent two nights at this family-run hotel as part of three weeks in the Ecuadorean Andes. The location is excellent, close to the centre of Riobamba and has its own secure private car park behind the hotel. The standard of service we received was exceptional, not just that of staff 'doing their job' but being really helpful in dealing with any of our requests.
Noisy hotel gloomy atmosphere
Car alarm went off at midnight in lot next door. Nobody took responsibility initially until I personally had to get involved and help disconnect the car's battery! A true nightmare !
Good hotel but on the pricey side
This is a charming old building that has been beautifully refurbished in the center of Riobamba. We were in Riobamba to visit markets there and in the surrounding towns and villages, and we were easily able to get around by flagging any taxi and getting to where we wanted to go for $4 or less. There is a good restaurant right in the hotel, which is great if you've had a long day and don't want to go looking for food in the evening. Our room was a bit small compared to some others (the doors to all the rooms on the 2nd floor were open the day we arrived and we had a look around) but it did have a balcony. Nice big bathroom, and big bath sheets were changed daily. The beds had nice coverlets rather than those heavy wool blankets we've gotten in a lot of places and nice cotton sheets--another plus. On the down side, the breakfast buffet had never been completely set up by the time we went down for breakfast, and so we had to wait around 2 days out of 3. Not really a big deal, but if you advertise that breakfast starts at seven, it should be ready at seven. The family that runs the hotel is friendly and helpful, but maybe a bit unorganized at times.
Riobamba hotel - quirky!
This British owned hotel is in a beautful building set in a very convenient location in the centre of Riobamba. I checked in quite late and was greeted by a very helpful member of staff who showed me my room on the top floor with a little balcony. The bed was large and there was lots of room for storing clothes etc. This is a very expensive hotel for Riobamba and I was surprised that some of the basics like a bottle of mineral water and even soap and shampoo for the shower were missing. The bathroom is partitioned off with half-wall which doesn't provide much privacy. There is a skylight in the room with no shade so you will be woken very early (at least in my room). I mentioned this to the staff at check out but they weren't particularly interested. I would stay here again but not without asking for a discount to make up for the shortcomings!
Beautiful restored Riobamba mansion
Perfect stay aside from some confusions on arrival with the reservation made through hotels.com
Propiedad antigua y descuidada, el desayuno bastante básico
Clean and calm rooms.
….
Muy bonitas las instalaciones
Bello hotel volvería a hospedarme
gracias
