Everything was great
Positives: Good location. Friendly staff. Area to store luggage. We arrived before 3pm and they worked quickly to get us our room. Checkout was quick and easy. Negatives: The room was small. Shower was small. Beds a bit hard.
Great stay!
Loved our stay ar Hotel sonya, good location near sites and train station. Very clean and comfortable... Perfect for our 2 night stay
Close to the train station and walkable, if you like to walk, to many of the sites in Rome.
Convenient, near train station, and walking distance to historical sites and lots of restaurants. The property needs updating but it was clean. The front desk staff were nice and helpful, and the price was reasonable.
Adequate for our needs. Lacked the finishing touches. Bit dated.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Liked the complimentary coffee every morning. So convenient to all the major attractions and Central Station. Extremely clean. Spacious rooms. The only negative was my son’s bed was not comfortable and he had a hard time sleeping on it.
Hotel Sonya is a great place to stay. Rooms are small but functional. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Close to the train station. We will stay here again.
Small Clean Comfortable bed
Location, location, location. Walkable to most of the top tourist destinations Rome has to offer.
It was quiet and convenient.
Great location. Shower was very small.
Room was very small, but clean. Good location. No breakfast included
Great location for tourist sites but relatively quite
This hotel is clean and conveniently located. The staff were nice and we felt comfortable leaving our luggage until our room was ready.
Hotel was located perfectly for walking and dining. Very nice staff. Room was a little small but clean and comfortable. AC definitely worked in our room I had it turned down to 67 degrees. Overall would stay here again
I love the location the old world shutters the the air conditioning worked real well the newer windows that opened for a view of St Mary Major. The bed was a little bit firmer than my preference but just love the myriad of restaurant choices in the area.
Great location, very good staff, clean!
Reception and checkin/out very attentive, helpful, kind. An employee even walked us to a pharmacy at night as he was leaving for that direction. We chatted and found him to be very pleasant. Room was small, but clean and comfortable.
The staff are accommodating as I brought the wrong adapter and the lent me one! English speaking and took time to show me on the map where I needed to go! Perfect sized room for what I needed.
Hotel Sonya was located in a convenient location however the room was too small which could be expected in Rome. Staff were friendly.
It was good.
Hotel was clean our room was great alot of restaurants close to subway bus taxi its was just excellent i will come back.
Location Location Location
Older hotel, clean and compact rooms small bath. Ancient elevator but works, kind of fun. The great thing about this hotel in Rome is its location. 5 minute walk to the main Metro station and the Central railroad location.15 minutes to the Vatican. Walk to major churches so if you traveling on a budget great spot. Many bars and resturants in the neighborhood good prices and value. Quiet at night.
Property claims they have A/C but when we got to the room the staff said it only worked if we wanted it warmer (i.e. they have heat and NOT A/C like they advertise). They also advertised they had premium bedding - our room definitely did not have premium bedding. The walls had been scuffed from years of wear and tear, and the towel rack/warmer made a non stop dripping sound. Also it claims to be a non smoking property, but the lobby and common areas had strong cigarette smoke smell. Overall very false advertising and better options all over the city.
Good location to train system. Easy walking distance to Colosseum and Palatine.
Highly Recommend
Highly recommend Hotel Sonya. The street is very quiet and has very good food within a few minutes or less (Matriciana & Il Palchetto). 20 mins from the Coliseum and Trevi Fountain. Not too far from Trastevere and the Vatican too. Also 5 min from Roma Termini so super easy to get there from the airport. Perfect spot!! Especially for your first time in Rome. The room was small but clean and the water pressure was amazing. Free luggage storage was also a plus since we checked out at 11am our last day but our flight wasn’t until 7pm.
Good location.
Clean and walkable
Lovely place to stay. Central for all the sights
Incredible location in Rome. Room was simple and affordable but beds were comfortable and everything was very clean and well kept. Building is old with massive wooden door to street, marble staircase, wrought iron elevator that will take only three people at a time! But we loved the hotel more for those reasons! Very kind helpful staff. You are just steps away from many great restaurants. Walk to train station. We will stay there again.
Excelente ubicación
Stay at hotel Sonya Italy
The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini. It is very noisy at night. The garbage pick up from the city is almost daily at night past one am. Cars are passing by too. There are a lot Of restaurants nearby. Supermarket too. The area is very safe even though the hotel is very dated. They do provide hair and body wash. Soap. The building is locked after midnight.
Early check in was great 👍
Location near train station, taxi stand, good restaurants.
Personal muy amable,buena ubicación,cerca a Termini
Lovely location but not good for light sleepers
Staff were so helpful and friendly. No problems at all finding the hotel. Very clean. Excellent location near to all the main landmarks. HOWEVER I was kept up a lot of the night with noises in the corridors (other guests) and loud traffic/people outside on the street. Obviously not the hotels fault just bear in mind if you’re a light sleeper like me !
Very walkable, comfortable environment. Pleasantly surprised with amenities and condition of hotel room/bathroom.
It was fine for one night. Close to the train station, lots of restaurants. The room was clean, the shower was a bit run down.
The property, including the room and common areas were very clean. The staff were polite and helpful. The only issue is there is no air conditioning in the hotel.
Pleasant overnight stay in Rome
Very helpful and pleasant staff! Took us up to our room and showed us how to access the building after hours. Also let us store our luggage before/after our stay. Definitely would stay again.
I liked it , had fun and it was peaceful
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Sonya hotel, I would say it was a good choice for us as a family. The hotel room was a little small and a little rough around the edges but it catered for our needs, the bed and pillows was comfortable for us, the shower was hot and the location was really good. Had good food choices around our area and is walkable to most areas in Rome, if not there are public transport near by. I read in someones previous review that there is a kettle but you need to bring your own tea bags, which is true! But if you forget those things theres also a small supermarket across the road.
Horrible hotel, horrible staff. Would not recommend
The room has a bad smell and is not a hotel is a like a guest house
Excellent . Clean and close to the station
Great place to stay in a very convenient location. Room was great. Nice firm bed.
Nice little hotel, centrally located with good restaurants and sights all round
Too much noise. No views. Broken fans. No ac. Showers terrible. No english or any other languages on tv. Just Italian. No handicap at all. Senior unfriendly!!!!!!!!!
Great hotel
Excellent hotel, which was located close to a supermarket directly opposite, and nice restaurants around. Very close to Roma Termini and bus stops that will get you to most major attractions in the city. The front desk staff were friendly and gave me a rundown of the hotel upon check in.
Person at the front desk was very personable and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay here. A nice clean hotel. The staff are all really friendly and very helpful. Convenient location too. I would definitely stay again
Excellent option
Great stayed, well located with different food options and laundry services, the Roma terminal is closed and makes easy to take a bus or train and take a 10 minutes walk to get there, the room was great, clean, comfortable and well distributed.
The location is excellent, but the cleaning needs to be improved a bit more.but overallit was ok
Well the air conditioning was not working and the staff was not avail to solve the issue, but the staff was friendly.
Goodluck with your stay - Won't book again
Room I was given was nothing like I booked. Much smaller room and much smaller bathroom. Went downstairs to ask for the room I booked and was told by Indian desk person that the photos on hotels.com are of many different rooms and I get what I get. At that point in time I became upset over the rude manner. Then was told I will be moved the next day and asked if that was ok. Said no. Move me now. He spoke to management and without apology was sent upstairs to see another room which had bathroom twice the size and larger room. Still not as per the photo but bearable. Lock on door is electronic and doesn't work. I had cleaners walk in while I was in the shower even though I put the sign in the door saying do not disturb. I put a towel behind the door and when I came back out of the shower the towel was moved. Next day I put a chair as well. Bed is hard. TV has bad channels for English. Shower burns you every few seconds and makes you frozen the rest of the time. Trimming is falling off door frames and toilet mechanism fell off into the toilet. Dark ladies hair in the towels. I was woken up every morning at 7am for 3 mornings (my entire stay) by cleaners who station all their equipment including trolleys, towels, garbage bags outside my room. I spoke to cleaners and was told management tell them to start this early. No carpet in hotel so noise echoes through the whole place. Lift is ancient. I used the stairs. 121 stairs to the room each time. Can't add photos.
The room was permanently hot no matter what you did with the air conditioning; had to have the windows open. Even with the windows closed it was nosy outside in the evenings and loud at night and early hours of the morning by other residents and guests. The bathroom could only be described as a corridor and was surprisingly difficult to dress or walk in.
Good place for a good price
Loves the fact that it was close to the station.
Good
Noisy neighborhood (lots of traffic). The staff are nice. The bathroom has towel warmer is a big plus.
We booked it for the location & in that aspect it was perfect! Plenty of dining options near by. But don't ever go to the convenient store to the left called Aperto-they do not like women, US, or Canadian citizens in that store. The elevator needs servicing, and god forbid you leave your room card in your room!! The front desk men DO NOT like that & get very rude about it.
Great location. Close to Termini Train Station. Many of Rome’s most famous attractions are within walkable distance. Good value for the money.
Very well located and affordable stay.
Very well located, affordable hotel with very friendly staff.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sonya. This hotel had everything we needed for our visit to Rome. There are numerous dining, shopping, and transportation nearby.
Great stay
Very friendly staff, room was very comfortable great location! Wish my tv was working , and at night was bit loud with garbage truck . I recommend this hotel to couples and singles it’s close to everything the bed is very comfortable pillows were the best and staff here is very nice !!!
Everyone very helpful, staff and very clean!
Nice place but kind of small
We had issues with different things, one plug in didn't work, hair dryer would work one morning not the next. Air, we had to call front desk to come get it going
We totally enjoyed Hotel Sonya! Clean, comfortable and staff was great! Perfect area for sightseeing and walkable to fantastic eateries!
We loved the location and cleanliness
Our room had everything we needed. We walked to the hotel from termini train station and we attended a ballet across the street from the hotel in the opera house. We used public buses to get around. There are lots of dining close by and a little store next door that sells items that you might want.
Hotel Sonya is a nice little hotel that's close to many of areas in Rome, about 10-20 minutes walking distance and about 7 minutes walking distance from Roma Terminal. The rooms are enough for sleep and shower, but that's all.
It is a simple Hotel, good to spend time in Italia with a low budget.
I can not say what do I like but it is ok for live for short time. It is easy for everything
Although this hotel is an older property, it was well kept. The reception staff was very attentive to our needs. We had an issue with the shower overflowing; however, it was repaired in a timely manner. The hotel is in a prime location, surrounded by lots of amenities such as shopping and dining.
Loved the old elevator Staff was super helpful Amenities were modern
Looks are deceiving. From the outside and its first floor, Hotel Sonya looks worn and a little shabby. However, the upper rooms are modern, clean and cozy with a nice bathroom and hot shower. The hotel is a short walk to the train station with plenty of restaurants along the way.
Our room was small, but had everything we needed. We loved the location — a fairly easy walk to the train station and many good restaurants very close by. The hotel had an old-world feel about it, which we really liked. The marble staircases, the elevator, etc. The staff was very helpful. Would stay there again.
The elevator worked great given the fact it was an Older wooden elevator I do believe
That’s a good one
The property is just very dingy, dirty, rundown feeling, etc.
No bar or breakfast facilities as advertised. No tea or coffee in rooms despite kettle and cups. Very dated, could do with a paint. Staff not very helpful or friendly.
Great location and great staff. Beds old and not overly comfortable, but overall I’d definitely stay again!
The hotel was easy walking distance from the Roma Terminal train station. There is an elevator to get up to the rooms and reception on the main floor that is easily visible from the street. The staff was helpful with taking my bags up to the room and showing how the air conditioning worked. The rooms were spacious and quiet.
Close proximity to trevi fountain and colleseum
For the money and a older hotel is was nice
We loved that it was so close to Roma Termini! The room was nice enough and comfortable, the breakfast was not as advertised in the pictures. You are given a voucher for a place close by, it is not a breakfast buffet as seen in pictures.
Loved the old elevator. We had a party/ fight happening in our hallway on Monday night.
Very loud elevator and noises in the room at night. Check in area was cramped and crowded wasn’t bad terrible but definitely wasny 8.8 out of 10 as Expedia showed for the triple room
Great location. Lots of restaurants and shops close by.
This was a great place to stay….very very clean and location was great.
Short walk to termini station. Convenient location in general. Great value hotel that has no frills. The staff are friendly and responsive. However the property is old and my shower door fell apart which required maintenance during my stay.
Great customer service and location. Very easy to go around Rome from this hotel. We really enjoy our stay!!
Perfect location. Disliked smoke filled reception (enclosed ) area
We stayed one night.
Good area to visit

Don't sleep where you sheet.
I was surprised at how small the room was. However, it had everything you need. Yes, I am one person, but still need a slightly bigger room.
