Hotel location very convenient to St Peters Basilca. Only few minutes away from Ottaviano Metro station. Hotel room safe. Helpful Small family run hotel. Clean room. No aircon but it is what you expect for what you pay..
Very close to metro, the Vatican and other attractions.
Clean
We enjoyed our stay at hotel Silla. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful especially with tour suggestions and transportation from the seaport before our stay and to the airport after our stay. . .
Such a lovely hotel with really friendly staff. We loved the area and it was so handy to everything, a short walk away from the Vatican and only 1 minute from the Metro service! Will definitely be back here again on my next trip to Rome!
The room so small and mostly the shower very small even for one person but the room enough cleans so I think this Hotel just OK
The property was very close to the metro stop and the Vatican. The room was clean with a comfy bed. Most importantly, the front desk concierge was so pleasant and helpful. Thank you!
Best hotel ever !
The staff exceeded all of my expectations! Incredible service and extremely helpful for tourist information If I go back to Rome I would never stay anywhere else Stephano really went out of his way for me .
Steps Close to Metro. Wonderful location. 5 mins walking to vatican.
Will return to this hotel in my future travels to Italy
The best value for money
family run small hotel. Veryy friendly and helpful stuff, nice big room- except the single (don't!) rooms. Very close to the Vatican' Fe m fom a Metro station that will take you to the historical center of Rome in 10 min.
I’d happily stay there again
All good. Great location. Clean and tidy. Staff professional and polite. A little old fashioned maybe, but that’s fine by me. I’d happily stay there again.
Hotel Silla = Triple L
The location was spot on,right next to a subway station. No shortage of places to eat or shop. The room was very clean although a little bit small however in general the place is highly recommended.
Lovely staff and always willing to help. Would definitely recommend. It's very close to The Vatican and to the metro station.
We arrived early and we were able to store our bags and go explore before checking in. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Short walk to Vatican City, dining and shopping. Will stay here again if we ever return to Rome.
Great location and quiet. We enjoyed our visit.
Hair dryer could have been better very old one
I recently stayed at Hotel Silla, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, modern, and well-appointed, with comfortable beds that ensured a great night's sleep. The location was perfect, offering easy access to local metro and restaurants. Overall, a wonderful stay—I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!
Hotel was clean and quiet.
Close to transit
Good hotel, nice and close to the train station and a well priced cafe.
A very little hotel, it’s very close to the Vatican City. It was easy to walk in anytime day or night. Very safe area, it was easy to found place to eat and shop. A few step to metro station, it was a great decision.
this property even should not be classified as hotel , its a motel in a dirty location
It is a clean hotel
Good location, but we had some serious issues during our stay. Our AC was not working and we complained. They could not offer us a new room for that night so we made do with the small amount of cold air coming out of it. Then they sent a technician to our room that completely broke the AC and told the front desk he fixed it. Our room was over 30 degrees and the front desk wouldn’t give us a new room because they were “fully booked”. After overheating enough I checked Expedia for a different hotel and sure enough Expedia says “one room left!” for the hotel we were at. I showed the Expedia listing to the front desk and he gave us a new room without apologizing or acknowledging he lied. It took me proving him wrong to be given a new room, which was literally next door to ours. We also felt we had no privacy, the cleaners came in despite our do not disturb sign and cleaned/disturbed our things and turned off our AC. It was 38 degrees and since the AC barely worked to begin with, this took away our ability to cool off in our room during the day. It is their policy to turn off AC during the day, so if you stay here I recommend hiding the remote or bringing it with you. The property could use some upgrades as well, even simply replacing the towels that are worn and no longer white. If you are low maintenance you could be fine here, but I felt that we way overpaid for what we got. There are better options!
The hotel staff are very attentive, helpful & supportive. The hotel is very clean & safe close to many amenities.
Really nice, safe location
It was an old and musty building. We had a common entrance with the other guests and we could hear them. It was uncomfortable
Nice stay!
It was a great experience, friendly service. The room is clean, and had met all our requirements.
Not worth the price, but decent experience.
Very clean. The man at front desk very friendly and helpful.
I love Hotel Silla! It is great value for the money considering all the dining options and amenities nearby, proximity of Metro and bus stops, and safety of Prati and the facility itself. For an older hotel, it’s in very good condition and kept very clean. My room and bathroom were not huge, but I’m petite so that was fine, and my single size bed was very comfortable with high quality linens. The staff was also welcoming and accommodated the fact I arrived a few hours early. My only complaints: my room got almost no natural light even when opened the heavy shutters, and the hair dryer in the bathroom is pretty old and awkwardly designed. Nonetheless, I’d stay in Hotel Silla again in a heartbeat.
A cute, well-maintained place!
We enjoyed our stay at this pleasant, small, family-run hotel. It is located only a couple minutes from Ottaviano metro station, and there are many clothing shops and outside market stalls within a five minute walk as well. This part of Rome is relatively quiet, yet still packed with bars and cafes. The room was somewhat small, and yet it was comfortable and spotless. All hotel employees were kind and helpful.
First time to Rome
Hotel Silla was a great choice for exploring Rome for a few days. Our group of 4 stayed in 2 rooms, which were small but had enough storage space in the closet for our luggage. The front desk staff were very friendly, spoke English, and helped us book an airport shuttle for our departure. One of our rooms had some electrical issues but the worker was able to fix it immediately. Good AC, TV, modern bathroom, and wifi. Nights were very quiet; the morning noise of shops opening in the inner courtyard was not bothersome. It’s a short walk to the Ottaviano Metro station and about 15-20 min to Piazza San Pietro. There are lots of cafes and shops nearby.
This place was close to the Metro. Bakery and coffee closeby.Easy to travel to see all of Rome
A nice comfortable hotel
Cleanliness: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Comfort: 4/5 Noise: 5/5 Location: 4/5 Overall: A very good option to stay near Vatican City and just a block away from the train station. The extended review... Cleanliness: 4/5 - Very clean and tidy. Service: 4/5 - Friendly staff but be aware that the front desk is closed at night. Comfort: 4/5 - I was very comfortable here and didn’t have trouble sleeping at all. The room is a little small but it was good enough for me. Noise: 5/5 - Not a lot of noise at all. Location: 4/5 - In a very walkable location.
We loved the hotel and the staff were very helpful and nice. I would highly recommend
The property staff was helpful. They helped with transportation to and from airport and to port. It was much appreciated. Thank you.
Good Choice
Good location close to the Vatican. Hotel is very clean and safe, staff are helpful and friendly.
Wonderful stay. Shower very tiny for larger American people. Still wonderful location
Would t stay here again
Location is good, that’s it. Stayed 4 nights, on the third day the internet we were using wouldn’t let us login. Talked to the middle aged man at the desk, he said it must be our phones, he tried to login and couldn’t either. He rebooted the system, didn’t help. Told him about it again the next day and he said that I was the only person complaining. No customer service skills at all. Bathroom was extremely small, the only thing good was the location
Small, quiet, clean, reasonable, helpfull friendly staff, 10 minute walk to Vatican.
Friendly staft , good location , I think that they should install a little fridge in the room , to keep and a kettle in the room to have a cup of tea or cooffee, the rest is very good
Very centric! Some decorative details missing but otherwise comfortable and clean The washing machine has dryer included which works amazingly fine
it's convenient but noisy.
The one minor irritant was that of trying to unlock the bedroom door with a key that was a poor fit in the lock. A very minor irritant. This apart a splendid hotel.
Very good place to stay.
The hotel is located in a secure gated building, in the City Centre, updated to modern standards a few yards away from St Peter's basilica, would recommend it to anyone travelling to Rome to see the Basilica, very cheap for the location and service rendered, and you may have to arrange for a breakfast option outside of you are a breakfast kind of person. Rooms need good pillows and duvets.
Property was clean, nice with elevator. Close to the Vatican. Many local restaurants to choose from. The rooms are very small and walls very thin besides that no complaints. Well worth the $ for location.
Front desk person kind enough to have our luggages stored next to reception area. We took a picture so we remember how many pieces and our original luggages were lost by the airline. but the hotel manager came and told us of. He was offended that we took picture. He’s very rude. We tried to explained why we took picture but he just decided to stay rude with us. Luckily when we got back late at night that man was not there and our luggages were safe. I will not recommend this hotel because of that hotel manager. Otherwise it’s ok …
We arrived very early for our check in and reception staff and housekeeping made haste to get our room ready early. They were friendly and very understanding of our long travel. The room was very clean and comfortable. No fridge or coffee amenities, however an electric kettle was brought to room when requested. When we told front desk staff that we were taking public transit to the airport, he advised against it and booked a taxi for us. We are thankful for this sound advice as it would’ve been very onerous with all our luggage.
The location is perfect. It is very close to the Vatican and it is safe. The bed was very comfortable but the shower is tiny so it is not for fat persons.
Everything was clean and the staff was nice and helpful.
The staff speak English and they were very polite. The maintenance very respectful and honest we forgot a ring on our check out day and they return it to us. They let us know they found it
Lovely Family run hotel. Excellent, safe location.
Location of Hotel was excellent, very close to Vatican City (literally 5 mins walk) and 3 mins walk from nearest Metro. Hotel surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants. Room was functional and clean. Staff were excellent and went out of their way to help, really pleasant and polite
This was my second stay in the hotel - it’s a very clean, friendly, basic hotel which is on the first floor of a quiet apartment block. It’s in a nice neighbourhood which for me was a 7 minute walk to the Vatican. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I used the hotel as a base as I was out for most of the day. My room was immaculately clean with a safe and free WiFi. My room looked into an internal courtyard and there are a few cafes and grocery shops nearby. I always stay in the Prati part of Rome as it is quiet and near the Vatican.
This hotel was in a quiet neighbourhood with cafes nearby and it is a 7 min walk to the Vatican. The hotel is on the first floor of an apartment complex which meant it is safe and secure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a small, basic hotel which was immaculately clean. My single room was small but had everything that I required. The window opened onto an internal, quiet courtyard. There is air-conditioning in the room.
For quietness and great air conditioning.
Great air conditioning. Rooms is clean. Breakfast is at basic (ok though for €6). Staff is friendly and helpful. Shower booth is way too small. Room was very quiet. Overall, quality is OK considering the price.
Unsure
We were not able to stay. But the area was ice location
Close to Vatican and metro station. Bathroom is too old
The bed was very uncomfortable. Shower tiles were broken and needed replacing. Water pressure was very low. Hotel was close to metro and shopping.
Great location, just round the corner from a metro stop. Rooms were nice and clean. Would recommend bringing your own hairdryer as the hairdryer provided is not very powerful. Overall a good base for exploring the city and would stay there again.
Could include breakfast for the cost. Close to metro.
Good hotel
Very good stay at this hotel. The only downside is that the walls are very thin and you hear everything from next door and the corridor.
Convenient Location
After looking at so many hotels online, we decided to go for Hotel Silla and we were not disappointed. It was close to the metro, clean and had functioning Air Conditioner in July. Lot of hotels we looked at did not have AC so this was a plus. The shower is phone booth size but that’s pretty standard in Rome. Overall, great stay and would book again.
Don't come for the air conditioning
Nice place and a decent room, but they wouldn't give us the air conditioner remote even when we asked. The room was boiling hot. We were just told to open a window. Hotels.com was very helpful though. We filed a complaint and we got the A/C remote the next day.
Easy to find convenient location. Left my phone cord and adapter in room on checkout, went back the next day and they had it for me. Very honest, I appreciate that.
Our stay at hotel silla
Not all the hotel staff are friendly and some wouldn’t even accommodate our request to reheat our food that we bought from outside food outlets. Shower room is too small there’s not enough space to move freely
Great Hotel and Staff. Location is great for easy access to everything you’ll want to see while in Rome.
The staff were amazing and helpful, especially when I checked in. My room was spacious comfortable. Breakfast was so nice wide selection. Train nice 10 minutes from the Hotel walking refreshing. Nice restaurant next door to unwind. Not open Sundays but there is another one about 800 meters away. Love the stay clean and friendly.
Paper thin walls, you can hear everything in next room. Staff knocked on room door at 3am, said people in next room complained about noise of tv although it was low.
Roman Holiday steps from subway and St. Peter's
Nice hotel in great location, two minute walk from the subway and a 10 minute walk to St. Peter's, 20 minutes from Trastevere and other important sites. Only downside is very thin walls so you could hear conversation and TV from neighbouring rooms. Very tiny phone booth shower. But good place overall, we would stay there again.
The rooms are spacious for Rome and this building has a beautiful winding staircase. This hotel needs to add mini refrigerators to the rooms.
Good stay.
This place was great. Best part is proximity to Vatican.
Nice hotel very central
Pleasant stay. Would go back .close to Vatican and metro. Also trams and buses
Beautiful and clean room.
Would highly recommend this hotel. Rooms are of a very high standard for 2 star. Staff are very polite and helpful. Would rate it 10 out of 10.
Lovely hotel basic but very clean and adequate for a short weekend city break.
Nice place close to Vatican and metro station. Very nice personnel. Really good hotel.
Old hotel but great place to stay.
The local area is great, is just one block away of the metro in which you can go everywhere, it is a 10 min walk to the Vatican city, and there are a ton of restaurants nearby. The staff is kind but and helpful, but not all of them behave the same, they are just normal people kind of serious but always giving you help and great advice. The room was super clean, I know that this is an old property but the room was nice and they have AC and the bath although the shower is small the pressure of the water is good enough to take a bath. My only concern is about the room temperature that is not evenly distributed across, also you could hear noises coming from other apartments as this is an old building the foundation does not isolate the voices, also every time somebody close your door you will hear that, that was not really bad and we had good sleep. We did not try the breakfast but you could get nice breakfast one block away. In general, the hotel does not have a lot of new things but have the basic, my girlfriend does not complain about the hair dryer, one thing is we just need to go down to use the iron but anyway you could feel how the people live out there.
A touch of Italy
If you compare hotels to the Ritz Carlton, then this is probably not for you. The Silla has a great location, 4 blocks to the Vatican and a half block to the Metro (subway). It's a 7 minute ride to Termini. The hotel has A common courtyard, secure entrance with condos and pastry store. The hotel entrance is also secured. The rooms were very clean. Shower was tight but workable. Main desk is on second floor but lift is available if you opt out of the marble stairs. Owners were very accommodating and spoke English. It is a quaint hotel with character you won't find in a chain. Be sure to go to Cinque, 2 blocks away, the world's best gellato- it is on the web. There are also several restaurants and convenience store nearby.
Good basic hotel. A little old fashioned but what you'd expect for the price. My only issues were the noise and the heat. It was noticably warmer and more humid in the hotel than outside. There is no sound insulation between the rooms so earplugs are essential.
Room was cleaned everyday and adequate for my needs. Plenty of hot water for the small shower. Smell from pastry shop was great. Great staff in helping how to take metro and bus to see catacombs.Their map of the city was a great help on how to get around. Most likely will stay there again.
Fabulous Hotel and Location
We just returned from Rome, spending three weeks at HOTEL SILLA. The hotel is located in a perfect location to the Vatican, a 10 minute leisurely walk, yards from the Metro, several eateries, wonderful bakery and fine shopping just outside the door of this property. We arrived early and were received warmly by Mr. and Mrs. Lo Voi. They escorted us to our room and made sure we were satisfied. The room and bathroom were large, nicely decorated, well lit, heated and most of all SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. The linens and towels were of good quality, plenty of hot water and very good pressure. A kettle, cups, saucers and spoons were provided which was most considerate. The girl who cleaned the room daily was faultless in her pride of keeping the room and bath very clean, each day it looked like the morning we checked in. A safe was in the room. Once given the keys we didn't have to turn them each time we left the room, we turned them in on checkout. The building is very secure, the area very safe. The hotel was very quiet. The elevator was large, could hold eight people, we had plenty of room for ourselves and luggage, it was modern and quick. Mr. Lo Voi arranged for tickets so we could attend the audience with the Pope and arranged our ride to the airport with a fine gentlemen who safely delivered us to the airport in a record breaking snowstorm. Each time we met the staff they were friendly, helpful and made our visit feel like friends. A lovely experience.
Awesome
It was a lovely holiday. The place is only a few minutes away from the Vatican. Close to the metro, bus stop, Mc donalds and other restaurants. Just round the corner there are a lot of shops for those who love shopping.
Close to Vatican, metro, shops and etc.
Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice.
Hotel Silla
Convenient access to metro and Vatican. Kind and helpful front desk staff and clean rooms with basic necessities. Breakfast is light and not included. City charges additional tax per person not included in price. Be sure to check Palmieri pastry shop in the courtyard the tiramisu is divine.
Quiet clean and friendly
Clean and quiet Good location Great service. Helped with booking airport transfer and day trip.
Nice hotel next to Vatican
Great hotel, 10 mins from Vatican City.5 mins from the metro stop, which is a great way to get round the city,€7 for all day travel. Aircon in rooms, hair dryers in bathroom, rooms a little small, but that's ok, you aren't spending much time in your room, all rooms have double beds. Quick check in, Will stay here again, breakfast not included, but there are coffee shops all around the hotel
10/10 Rating
The staff and location makes this hotel a 10/10 easily. It's seconds away from the Metro and about a 10-15 min walk to the Vatican. The ONLY precaution I would make everyone aware is the showers are tiny. If you are tall or a large individual, you may struggle.
Basic
We booked this hotel based on the reviews it might need a little update but was still great. Negatives When you look at the pictures of the room you think that they have taken a picture of the bed BUT this is actually a picture from the doorway. The room was very small for double bed. My partner and I googled the hair dryer in the bathroom it was from the 1970s making it impossible to dry your hair in one sitting as it got so hot it burnt your hands. The walls are incredibly thin making us feel as if you can't talk normally without disturbing someone. Positives Great location near Vatican Staff were quite helpful And the room was clean
Convenient location, very clean
Staff were very helpful when Monarch lost a bag and offered to telephone on our behalf.
Great place to stay - near the Vatican City!
Great stay here, would suggest they make sure they refill cups in the rooms! Great price for facilities available! And if your travelling, it's near the Vatican City plus the Metro! :)
Close to the Vatican and metro
Hotel staff are very helpful and supportive with information, translation and phone queries. The hotel is located above a bakery so delicious aromas are always present. The hotel has a great location close to the Vatican, metro and many shopping and eating options. It is also very clean.
Nice hotel close to the Vatican and metro or bus.
Overall experience was nice, just the pillows for my taste a little bit firm, great staff, clean facilities, silence, very acceptable internet, not good for video streaming, secure neighborhood and a lot food places around. No regrets chosen this hotel, you can't go wrong with hotel silla.
Great Location
Front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was very clean and comfortable. Great location, within walking distance of the Vatican, great shopping and many wonderful restaurants. Also, very close to public transportation.
Very close to the Vatican,shops,restaurants
I had a very enjoyable stay here. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Very central to everything. Rooms are comfortable and clean. I will definitely be going back to stay at this hotel.
Great location in the Vatican area
Great location in the Vatican area close to public transportation, shops and good restaurants.
Italian Vacation and Vatican Visit
We enjoyed it very much. Every morning, the aromas from the bakery downstairs was wonderful. The clerks were helpful and friendly. They even gave me an adaptor for our small appliances and laptop.
Great value hotel in a nice area.
Hotel is brilliant value for money. The location is fantastic, 5 minute walk from the Vatican and 2 mins from a metro station. The staff were excellent, friendly and couldn't help enough.
Hotel Silla | Hotel in Rome | Travala.com
Staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is within easy walking distance of Vatican and center of the city. Lots of dining and shopping options nearby. Room was small but functional and clean. Many rooms face a courtyard shared with apartments or other hotels, which can be noisy at times.
