An interesting, quirky place

Spacious rooms with balconys, an excellent pool and relaxation areas. High quality bar food, though the main restaurant for breakfast was also so busy we couldn't face the queues. The pool area overlooks a nudist beach, but there are good cocktails and if you visit at the right time of year - it's hot!

Really nice. Really nice, if you only want to stay at their place. Nothing else in the immediate vicinity. You need anything? They have no “store”. Asprin? Nope. Sunblock or sunscreen? Nope. That’s an Uber ride . The staff was exceptional. The rooms were ok. Lots of mold on the lamp shades. Sure it means nothing, but does it? Does it really? A 5 star hotel with moldy lamp shades. Children are not preferred, yet the beach the hotel is on is a public beach. So the small kids aren’t screaming during dinner but they are the entire time you’re on the beach. And that makes it kinda suckie.

It was an amazing hotel but outdated. The hotel staff were absolutely delightful and provided first class service. I was disappointed with the restaurant menu. Very limited choice and it's the same everyday.

Bad Service. Not Cool.

Service not up to the standard it should be for this caliber of hotel. Wanted to leave a day earlier on a 6 night stay, as business schedule changed, and was told that I couldn't and needed to pay for the whole stay upfront, immediately upon check in, because I booked through Hotels.com, instead of directly, in which case they would have accommodated me. Doesn't match their 24 hour cancellation policy. I requested to speak to the manager, who wasn't available until the next day. I paid one night and wanted to work it out with the manager the next day. Upon return at 7 the evening I was locked out of the room and my room wasn't made up. I was told there wasn't anyone available to make it up anymore, etc. etc. Issues and attitude just continued. Eventually I rescheduled my plans so I wouldn't loose the money for the last night that they insisted on because I booked through your service.

Worst Hotel/ Gone down hill

We have stayed at this hotel before and have always enjoyed, the location is fantastic, class of cava on arrival an improvement. However the stay left us feeling ripped off. Our room was as we expected a bit tired. We went for lunch, the menu had changed unsure wither for the better? We enjoyed a rather expensive bottle of Mar de Frades 28 euro, (our local Chinese is 18.50) OK 5 star prices!! Later we went to the pool bar for a Gin and Tonic (30 euro for 2) again 5 star prices!! After a bath Jacuzzi not working. Then dinner OMG what see photo speechless, with the exception of a plate of ham, all other starters contained fish (don't like fish) so had ham, main, disgusting and cold sent back, was offered nothing to replace, however there was nothing on the menu that I would have wanted as an alternative. Nothing was taken off the bill and apart from a half hearted apology that was that. Went to bed for the worst night sleep, bed very hard, woke numb. Our bill for the whole experience was 420 euro for one night hence Feeling Ripped Off, will not be going back.

Excellent hotel. We had room 16. Fantastic view of sea and beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurants and bars were very nice. Not a new hotel but extremely well maintained. Parking free and convenient. Only difficult part was leaving -wish we could have stayed longer.

FANTASTIC hotel. Great pool. Great views. Right on the beach. Fancy restaurant. Spa. Parking available across the street (but all spots are covered and there are plenty). Friendly staff. Towels available for free. Just make sure you bring water shoes for the beach because it is ROCKY. There are stairs or an elevator down to the beach. Pool bar is fantastic. The pool is relatively small, but I was always able to get a chair and umbrella. If there were chairs/umbrellas available on the beach, I never saw them. Close to a nude beach, but it's completely separated from the hotel's beach by giant rocks. The restaurant is almost TOO fancy (i.e. waiters constantly adjusting your plate and glasses that you moved out of their assigned spots), but the food was delicious. Rooms were nice - ours had a great view. These shower was small but had GREAT water pressure. AC was good. Everything in the mini-bar is included in the room cost (refills are extra). Really nice breakfast buffet. Felt very much like a boutique hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Amazing place

The hotel is beautiful, but located in the middle of nowhere. If you want a holiday where you can visit bars and restaurants I wouldn’t advise this holiday. You’d have to enjoy eating in the hotel restaurant every night, and it’s quite posh food - mainly fish courses. Secondly you have to pay extra to use the spa facilities, which included the indoor pool. The rooms are a fantastic size, with a fabulous modern bathroom but the bedroom furniture is quite old fashioned - though not uncomfortable. I would mainly advise this hotel for adults, it was full of kind service and the staff were great.

lovely retreat

Super staff who will certainly make your stay very pleasant.Pool is very small and the area around it can get very congested. Recent renovation to the pool bar is really nice and very well thought out with the extra terraces

luxury hotel, with class.

Luxury hotel. easy parking. wifi slowish, ok for email not for skype. More chaisses lonques with shade would be nice. Breakfast abundand with good quality. Dinner and lunch could be improved

A beautiful hotel with views out of this world

This was a rare occasion when we decided to go to a hotel for a break, rather than having a conference to attend. The Montiboli was perfect; the hotel is not a large faceless square building but one with charm and elegance sited on a clifftop, looking out over the sea. Our room was spacious and stylish with a generous and private balcony and the bathroom was well appointed with modern facilities. The bar was well stocked and the barman Javier was helpful and knowledgeable. The open terrace looked out over the bay and the restaurant below was similar but enclosed. Breakfast was included in our price and was comprehensive and beautifully presented; cereals, fruit, pastries, cold meats as well as hot eggs, bacon and sausages. The outdoor pool is set out over the beach and we were able to use the indoor pool, jacuzzi and steam room. I had had a problem with parking in Benidorm and Reception was able to help me with this, even though it had happened a week before our stay. Thank you. All in all, it was a luxurious stay that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Interior decoration could be better, room is with a wonderful view and a georgeus terrace but gloomy and old style inside. You need to carry your room key all the time. Going from one section to other becomes complicated without the key.

Lovely hotel though a bit remote

A very pleasant hotel - hard to fault. It is close to the beach but it is so stony that you really need rubber shoes. The main pool and even the spa pool are very cold. But everything else was great. We had a fabulous suite with a balcony overlooking the sea. Lovely big bathroom. I would go there again. However, unless you hire a car you need to take a cab to get anywhere as there is nothing within walking distance.

Beautiful location

This was a gift for my sister and brother in law. They say they enjoyed it , the location was beautiful and they loved the spa. The service was fantastic. The only reason I don't give 5 out of 5 is because it is very difficult to pay in advance. You cannot pay with credit card - if you wish to pay in advance - and, I was forced to go to the bank and transfer the money . Odd.

the hotel very peacful. terrible food for 5star worse 5 star ever been to. eggs and bacon cold everymorning . no shopsto go to. and no entertainment in evenings. and no bars outside hotel. would never go again.

Very comfortable hotel with good facilities. It is located out of Villajoyosa so options to dine out are a taxi ride or a good walk away. Dining room food was good and well presented but would have liked a greater range in the bar menu. Very enjoyable stay.

Very good quality hotel.

Staff were friendly, hotel is as described. It's is quiet and of a good standard. Hotel is quite isolated from the local town, but it's only a short taxi ride away. All in all, very nice.

On a great beach

Hotel itself was kind of old and a bit run down but it was completely worth it to have direct access to a lovely beach. The beach is somewhat rocky but beautiful.

Stay July 15

Hotel lovely and staff friendly. Our room was poorly decorated with mismatched furnishings. Lovely view. Our daughters room was much nicer. Hotel reception were lovely but the hotel manager we found not very accommodating. Food - good breakfast, good variety on offer but the evening meal was somewhat limited with no vegetarian options. Expensive. Beach and pool lovely.

One Night, Birthday Treat

Booked this hotel for the night to celebrate my husbands birthday and were not disappointed. Amazing setting, beautiful views, great food, and very helpful staff. We stayed in a Romantic room which had a balcony overlooking the sea, everything was provided for. Bathrooms and décor not new and modern but everything was perfectly comfortable and clean. Will definitely visit again if we get the opportunity, we had a fantastic stay.

Greats stay at a stunning location

Stunning location and good, friendly staff. Unfortunately the pool bar wasn't open but you could call for service. Breakfast excellent. Evening meal excellent but v pricey. Lots of steps although some lifts, so be aware if access is an issue. We are looking to go back

Had a wonderfully relaxing stay

Loved this hotel for a complete break from everything. Super spot on a cliff overlooking the sea - lovely restaurant. Need a car if you want to go out anywhere. I was happy to veg listening to the waves constantly breaking...

Five day break

Very good hotel, well signposted and necessary as it is out of the way. Car very necessary. Wouldn't say a full 5 star, but a good 4 star

Luxurious getaway

Very clean room with maid service daily. Huge, comfortable bed. Delicious buffet breakfast with loads of choice. Very friendly english speaking staff.

What's that yellow thing in the sky?

Great to escape the wind and rain of the UK for a perfect shoer break. Fantastic location perched above the Med and lovely to fall asleep to the sound of it lapping up against the shore. Hired a bicycle for a couple of days and did a couple of insane climbs (one of then up to Guadalest) every bit as challenging as the Alps or Pyrenees. We went half-board at the Montoboli but nearby Villajoyosa has some great little restaurants for lunch.

Fab hotel close to the beach

My partner suffers from coeliac disease and the restaurant staff were great with gluten free options.

Beach getaway

For the car-less traveler, this place is a 50 minute metro ride from Alicante, then a 20 minute walk up a hill. But it's a beautiful place with a spectacular view and decent seclusion from the city, if that's what you're looking for. The expensive rooms have a panaromic view. With the less expensive rooms, which we had, you'll still get the ocean view, but only if you look that direction from your sizeable balcony. Otherwise, you'll face the tennis "resort" (looked more like two big apartment buildings) next door. The room was large by European standards and were very comfortable. The main swimming pool is not huge. We were told the resort was 40% booked during our stay, and there was plenty of space at the pool and restaurant. The two beaches are small to medium pebbles, so don't expect sand. The "naturist" beach is much broader, and you don't have to go naturist. You just can't be offended by it. We stayed on the property to eat our meals. The food was "fine dining" caliber in the Emperador restaurant (with prices that matched). We also got the included breakfast buffet, which had a great variety. Staff was friendly everywhere and English speaking for the most part. We put this two-night stay in between days in Valencia and Madrid and loved it for the change of pace from sightseeing. If you are looking for quiet relaxation, this is the place. If you want nightlife and partying, you'll want somewhere else.

Quiet and Peaceful

Hotel and service was great. Very peaceful and one of the nicest Beaches I have visited in Spain.

Beautiful hotel with superb views

The room here was quite spacious with a very nice bathroom. The bed was a bit too firm for us but otherwise the room could not be faulted. It would be difficult to imagine a better view than that from the restauarant here. We had breakfast included in our accommodation and the buffet was very nice. Service was extremely friendly and all staff were very helpful. Overall, a great stay.

Very Beautiful Views - Relaxing Break Away From 'It All'

Montiboli is a very pretty resort with amazing views. The staff were very friendly, and the resort is conveniently located between many popular places on Costa del Sol (30 minute drive max). You will need some sort of vehicle if you wish to get around, but the buffet at the property was very impressive. Non-suites were nice and pretty (albeit maybe not quite exactly what you are used to at Relais Chateau standards), but priced very well at the time we were there for what you get at this resort. Very nice relative to typical European hotels.

Pues es el mejor hotel en el que hemos estado, la ubicación del hotel es espectacular con unas vistas increíbles, los jardines,piscinas todo de 10

El único "pero" es que el acceso al spa que en la web del hotel ponía que era gratuido para reservas de 2 o mas noches, al hacer la reserva con expedia, nos dijeron que no estaba incluido.

Fantastisk hotell med hyggelig betjening og god service. Rommene var store, luftige og gode seng. Området var kjempefint med mulighet for å kose seg på strand eller ved bassenget. Bassengområdet var ikke så stort så ser for meg at det kan bli kamp om plassen i sesong. Ellers var parkering rett ved, og byen Vilajoyosa var en liten biltur inn med gøye fargerike hus og deilig strand med promenade. Anbefaler også turen inn til Guadalest. Ca 45 min kjøring fra hotellet!

Fantastisk sted som oser av sjarme. Hotellet har en utrolig beliggenhet, og personalet ytte en diskre og ypperlig service. All maten vi smakte var utsøkt.

Escapada perfecta

Estuvimos un par de noches fantasticas en el hotel, lo mejor la atencion. Recibimiento con cava, zumo, agua. El desayuno fantastico con vistas a la playa y lo mejor las habitaciones con terraza privada, tumbonas y mucha tranquilodad. En cuanto podamos repetiremos. Muchas gracias a todo el personal por hacer nuestra estancia perfecta!

Ubicación espectacular

Una maravilla de hotel, como complejo, y por su excelente ubicación... Un sitio muy bonito, con una magnífica habitación, y unas vistas auténticamente espectaculares. A destacar el excelente desayuno,de los mejores de este viaje.

Vue imprenable sur la Méditerranée depuis la chambre confortable et calme. Petit déjeuner 5 étoiles, infrastructures très correctes. La propreté est à revoir car elle n’était pas au top ni dans la chambre ni sur la terrasse.

Hotel de 5 estrellas bien merecidas, estupenda ubicación, muy cómodo, con acceso directo a dos calas. El servicio excelente, y las habitaciones amplias y luminosas. La piscina panorámica preciosa y el comedor es como si estuvieras en un barco. Excelente.

HOTEL ENCANTADOR

Ideal para pasar unos días de relajación

Lo más lindo que tiene el hotel es su ubicación. Nos sorprendió mucho que por ser un hotel 5 estrellas el restaurant principal (Emperador) sea malo. Teníamos muchas expectativas y más porque vinimos a festejar mi cumpleaños número 40. Nos hicieron la reserva a las 22 hs. y nos apuraron todo el tiempo para que nos fuéramos. Error mío, no mirar la carta antes, pero cuando llegamos no me gustaba casi nada. Me hicieron unos fideos a la boloñesa horribles, recalentados. Por otro lado, tampoco me gustó la asistencia del personal con un problema que tuve. Llegué a la habitación y encontré un dije de piedra que me había regalado mi esposo roto y no pretendía que lo paguen, pero si que me dejaran una nota disculpándose. Pero ese no es el problema principal, el tema fue que lo comenté en recepción y la Supervisora / Gerente nunca me llamaron. En cuanto a la limpieza de las habitaciones, cuando llegamos estaban muy limpias, pero luego no fue así. Tuve que pedir que cambien las sabanas que se habían manchado de vela por mi cumpleaños. Algo importante y que nos puso muy incómodos, los huéspedes del hotel no respetan las medidas y casi ninguno usa mascarillas. Como concejo, por favor pensar más en el cliente.

Un lugar muy bonito y tranquilo, con vistas espectaculares. La habitación confortable. La cocina de calidad, el servicio del comedor muy agradable, especialmente Jazmín y Pedro. Pasamos unos días de vacaciones estupendos.
