Never got to stay at this hotel, they said a mistake was made but how, I booked and paid months in advancepaidmonth
Staff were great, the room was clean, towels were changed every day,the bed was made up every day.10 minutes walk from the train station. A supermarket just around the corner. Great choice for breakfast. And reasonable priced
Close to places we want to be.
Conveniently located, reasonably priced, clean. Tiny elevator only houses 2 people with bags.
Despite a confirmed booking from Expedia, the hotel did not have my booking when I checked in. They eventually did find the Expedia booking but had apparently forgotten to enter it on their system. Fortunately they were still able to accommodate us.
All youy want is there
Great 3 stars hotel, close to metro station and in a great neighbourhood. A lot restaurants around. Not to far from Roma Termini. We where three and we had a big room.
A nice little hotel in a very convenient location situated close to Termini railway station. Very clean and the staff were friendly. Would definitely stay again. Thanks
They did not have a power and we been told we can’t stay there due the power luck and we never got refund or phone call or email about it
Location is top and breakfast is great with many dishes and all what you would expect for a good breakfast
Property VERY dated and the bar was hardly ever open, also very small. Room literally had a bed and a small TV. Although was spacious
The place location was near Rome station and that was perfect. Check in was easy too. Totally recommend it
Great location.
Good breakfast and friendly reception. Close to Termini station and Metro. Very basic but clean and good price
Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely, clean room, although very basic but they are fab. Plenty of choice available for breakfast with lots of seating, all clean and tidy. Bar was lovely to sit in for a few drinks too after a long day exploring the city. Highly recommend, and I will definately be booking with them again when I go back soon!
traditional Roma building/architecture (old & small). clean and accommodating - staff very pleasant & helpful. no central A/C but the weather was perfect - we were perfectly comfortable sleeping with the window open. nice city view from our room - elevator stopped working the day after we checked-in but staff very willing to help with luggage. definitely recommend!
Clean rooms, but halls and elevator dirty. Breakfast was very good and dining area with lots of room. Appealing for school trips so noisy inside and outside when we stayed
AVOID!!!
This hotel is nothing like advertised. You would expect from a 3 star hotel for it to be clean and basic but this was ridiculous. We arrived at 2am as our flight had been delayed and the south african male receptionist was so rude about us checking in late. I asked to purchase a bottle of water he said no as it was too late. The lift did not work properly, the corridor was dark and we had to use phone torches to find our room. When we entered the room, it stunk really bad, it was tiny and the bedsheets had stains. The floor was dirty and it was terrible. I wouldn’t even let my dog stay in that room. I went to the receptionist to explain the room looked nothing like the photos and we were not happy at all and he told us to go find another hotel then. We took our things and were stood on the street looking for another hotel online at 3am - this was the worst experience of my life. Had to pay €35 to get to the new hotel, which thank god was so much nicer. Still awaiting a refund after making a complain to Hotels.com for this hotel. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
No elevator, had to drag luggage up stairs to 4th floor.
Old hotel
Dirty carpet on stairs. In a bit of dodgy neighbourhood near termini
The property is in need of renovations. The carpets are very old, and need immediate replacement. The rooms are basic with the very minimal toiletries. The towels were not changed everyday. The bath/shower leaked onto the floor no matter how the shower head was positioned, poor design. We had issues with the TV not working. The WIFI was poor at best when working. The staff was mediocre, the pictures do not represent the hotel/rooms. The location is poor as the surrounding streets are very dirty and lots of garbage left for days. Would not recommend.
Could have been a lot better
The hotel had forgot about my reservation and double booked the room.they booked us in another hotel but I wasn’t happy about it as I was guaranteed the room on my booking from your site.
The breakfast was good, location was good. But there was a smell in the hotel which was bad and the bald man at the reception was ignorant , other people on reception were helpful and good.
It's a Friday- night, sixty-dollar hotel five minutes away from Termini station. The reception is warm and inviting. The breakfast is great, the storage space for luggage is ALMOST as wonderful as the staff. That being said, the room is Hotel Six quality back when Hotel Six was decent. Clean enough, spacious enough, but spartan, and, well, let's call it a compact as opposed to a mini van. That being said--it's a Frisay-night, sixty-dollar hotel in one of the most expensive cities in the world. You'll love and hate it and then go see the Oculous so who cares. PS, stay on the Low floors--ours was on the fourth and we couldn't connect to wi fi. Two floors down---all good. Happy trails!
Concierge was unsympathetic. Buffet breakfast was repetitive. No minivar.
Nice stay
I liked the location, the room was clean, and the air conditioning worked well. The only issue I had was that the room fridge only turned on when the key card was in the slot....so nothing stayed cold during the day when we were sightseeing. Since we stayed there in August, it would have been nice to come back to a cold drink....rather than slightly cool.
great
Everything is great, except for the wifi. But deserves high ratings for the price.
Do not book this hotel
I booked 4 rooms for 4 nights in 2017 for our 2018 April European trip. When we arrived at the hotel we saw a number of people arguing with the staff. Later two policemen came too. Waited for a long time, when my turn came, then I was told there were no rooms for us. The hotel staff didn't say why and only said sorry once. He said he had arranged another hotel for us. I booked San Macro through Expedia.ca. I complained to them too, no use. I think San Macro staff did this in a plan. I think they rent out our rooms to the late comers at a much higher rates and put us in a cheaper hotel, which was further away from the city. I have to accept the offer because I have no time waste. The staff said there would be shuttle service to take us from the hotel to the city centre. Of course it never happened. Everyday, we had to walk 20 minutes to the metro station to take the train. All I could do now is to tell everyone to stay away from this hotel so that it will go out of business as soon as possible.
Clean
Stay at the San Marco
We stayed 6 nights at the San Marco. Staff extremely helpful. Breakfast beat any in the city. Only reason it isnt a 10 is rhe bed wasn't a queen as described but 2 singles put together. Great place to stay.
A bit overpriced hotel
Apart from the convenient location close to the Roma Termini, the hotel may not meet 3-star standard.
Close to metro station
Centrally located. Very close to metro. Good hotel with nice breakfast buffet. Clean. Helpful staff.
Convenient and Friendly
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel San Marco recently. The hotel is simple, but that is what we were looking for when we booked our accommodation. Our room and the hotel itself was very clean and always very organized. The public spaces were always very tidy and never looked messy. The staff were very helpful when we checked in and checked out. Sometimes there was a build up at reception when there were too much people looking for assistance and only one person on the desk. It would have been great to have a separate person there to deal with travel queries or even tourist advice to prevent this from happening. However, it only happened a few times, so it was not a major issue. It is conveniently located near the main train station in Rome and also very close to a B Line Metro station which was great when going to the colosseum. Very handy for going to the opposite end of the city. There are also a number of restaurants in walking distance of the hotel, a particular favorite of ours was Bramble. A restaurant/bar with amazing food and drinks. If you are looking for a simple, clean and convenient hotel in the center of Rome, this is it.
Stairwell walls where dirty, elevator was tiny, but our stay was comfortable dispite this.
Nice hotel for the price.
It's a nice hotel for it's price. - Nice location, easy check-in/out. - Good buffet for breakfast, lots of variety. - Room wasn't the same as showed on picture (it is smaller in reality), that's the bad point. With that being said, it was a good stay in general for a 3 stars hotel in Rome.
Absolutely awful
Got moved to a different hotel without explanation when we asked why we were basically laughed at, really shocking customer service.
Honest review
We just checked out the other day after a 4 night stay and it was a pleasant experience! The hotel breakfast is a nice touch and our room was clean. If your looking for high class this isnt the place for you, but just a solid place if youre going to be out all day exploring the city. Only about a 20-25 min walk from all of the good stuff in the city center and we never felt unsafe walking home at night!
Highly Recommended
The hotel is close to transport and restaurants. Wide selection of hot and cold breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I commend Setefano and Sofia at the front desk who went out of their way to help us.
Hotel San Marco
Close to the metro for easy access to the metro system to get around. Even walking distance to Rome Termini Station. Elevator is a little slow so give yourself some time to leave. Staff was helpful to setup a lift to the airport
21st suprize
Treat for family for daughters birthday very nice place to stay close to metro and plenty of resturants
Good Hotel walking distance to Termini Station
Once we arrived to the hotel the staff notified us that something was wrong with the system and we were moved to Hotel Regio which was closer to Termini Station. I didn't know exactly what it happened but the staff booked a taxi for us they paid for it and our stay wasn't affected at all since both hotels affered same service and have same rating
Good budget food is available at the Pizzarria at the side of the hotel and is open till midnight. The restaurant at the side of the hotel, which is run from the building basement , serves Italian food which we found was not all good. Good Indian food is available at the Indian Restaurant nearby.
Hotel San Marco
I was initially frustrated because my reservation was not in the hotel's system, however the staff was very friendly and accommodating and made things right. They gave me a room near my friends for the entire length of their stay even though the information they received from Hotels.com incorrectly told them the booking was for only one night.
Close to train station. Few blocks walk. Room was comfortable and clean. Great breakfast spread compared to others. Quiet location. Many great restaurants in the immediate area. Would stay again.
Nice hotel at reasonable price
Nice hotel within easy walk of Termini station. Some nice restaurants close by. Short walk to join hop-on bus etc outside Termini station.
Nice hotel, quiet area close to train station
We had rooms 558 & 560 adjoining rooms, to suit our family. Rooms were excellent with balconies to watch the world go by.
Rude staff and double booked
We arrived at 1 am and we're told to go stay somewhere else. Very rude night watchman and manager. We booked 5 months out and had to stay somewhere else, with no reason as to why. Would not recommend to any weary traveller.
Great gem in a nice neighborhood.
This was an excellent find for our first stay in Rome. Great price, we got the quad room which was 2 separate bedrooms (but no doors for each bedroom). Conveniently located 7 minutes walk from the main train station. The walk between the train station and hotel was safe and has many restaurants that opens late. You should pick up some groceries from the PAM store a block away (frig in room). Good selection for the breakfast buffet, many items to choose from. The lift was small and can be a wait for it. Had a bit of trouble with the wireless internet - they have to generate a new account for you every 24 hours (and the machine broke and wasn't fixed for a day).
Reception solved the issue of no AC
I can't comment on the hotel directly, as upon arrival we were told that our AC was broken and as a result we would be transferred to another hotel. We were put into a cab (for which the hotel paid) and taken to a hotel very nearby, just on the other side of Termini station. This was our last night in Rome and our concern was being close to the station, as we had to get up early and hop on the train to the airport. Our fears were allayed when we saw that our new hotel was even closer to Termini than San Marco itself. I also believe we received a bit of an upgrade, as the hotel to which we were transferred was very nice. Great customer service and no hassle at all.
Basic
The hotel is very basic and our air conditioner didn't work and it was very hot so this was inconvenient. Once our bedside lights were turned off they flickered all night which was very irritating. Wouldn't stay there again.
Booking snafu was not a fluke -- but overall nice
I had a startling arrival at San Marco. I waited politely in the lobby for at least 15 mins while the clerk was on the phone or exiting the desk with nary an acknowledgement to my presence. When I finally was able to check in, I was told that my room was not available, but that they had re-placed me in a different hotel just for 1 night. The alternate hotel was at least a 10 min walk in a notoriously undesirable direction. I had specifically booked this hotel for its proximity and neighbourhood. It took a lot of negotiation, but I was finally moved to a hotel that was only 2 blocks away. Even so, this was a pain because it meant that I had to repack my things and transfer again in the morning. What really annoyed me was that I was never given a clear reason for the mistake. Later on in the week, I was in the lobby and overheard the clerk giving the same "no room" speech to another couple. This makes me feel like my situation was not a random fluke. However, when I did get to my room on the second night, it was lovely. I had a balcony, A/C, good TV, plush towels, a decent bed, a mini fridge, and plenty of space. There was even a bottle of apology wine with a letter waiting for me. Overall, I'd stay here again as it was great value for money, but I really hope they figure out the "overbooking" or whatever that was.
Great hotel near Termini
We ordered a double but were upgraded to a triple for no extra cost. The room is a nice size, staff is friendly, breakfast choices many. Very close to Metro Castro Oretorio and about 7 blocks to Termini train station. Close to many restaurants and bars. Clean- I'd stay here again.
Whoever checked us in was not a happy person, I don't think he liked americans. The best thing was location and breakfast.
Freindly staff, good transport links and local restaurants
Beautiful Hotel in a Great Location in Rome!
I loved Hotel San Marco!! Unfortunately, I did not spend much time in the hotel since I was in Rome on vacation! The hotel served a nice complimentary continental breakfast daily, which was great! All needed was my coffee and juice to begin my day of sightseeing. Upon my return in the evenings, my guestroom was cleaned to my satisfaction.
Good location
Close to Termini and Metro station. Staff helpful. Wifi soso.
Lovely hotel!
The staff were very warm and helpful. The room was kept very clean with fresh towels etc. every day, even when not requested. The food (breakfast) was good.
wifi didn't work any day, but the breakfast was excellent and the hotel is by the station.
Nice hotel close to transportation
Hotel San Marco is an average (3 star) hotel. The saying, "you get what you pay for," really applies to this hotel. And for that reason, I would recommend this hotel if you want to be close to transportation (Roma Termini [treno] - buses, taxis and trains). Restaurants are located all around the hotel which is convenient. A local supermarket (Pam Local) is only a two minute walk away from the hotel which was very convenient (necessities and so forth). In terms of the room, don't expect a high quality room but expect an average room with adequate space. The furniture is old and the carpet along the staircase is dirty. However, the rooms were clean and only used for sleeping. Go out and enjoy Roma, come home and sleep. This is not a hotel where you want to stay in and relax. Hope this helps!
well done
The staff very help full and friendly and very clean.
Excellent 3star hotel!
Excellent hotel in it`s category of 3star hotels. The location is great, 5-10minute walk from Termini. So it is close, but not too close to all the noise. Also it is near by bus, and metro stations. From Fiumicino airport we took a Terravision bus to Termini (45min drive, 8€ return ticket). The rooms aren`t specious, but they are clean and comfortable. We asked for a room in a quieter part of hotel, and got a good room on the 6th floor with the balcony. They have a free baby-cot, and wi fi. There are restarurants, and supermarkets in the neiborhood. The breakfast is good and tasty, only remark about the breakfast is that there is "A Guy" whose job is to welcome you to the restaurant, but actualy it feels like he is looking on every bite you eat :) So it was a bit uncomfortable. Overall: definetly recommend the hotel
Nice hotel, close to Termini and many restaurants are close by. The only drawback: the linen were not changed during our 8 nights stay. Quiet neighborhood, close to the metro station
Worst Experience in Rome, Italy.
There was hardly any air-condition in the room during our stay. The family could not get a good nights sleep and worst of all we could not change our rooms due to availability. I had kids with me as well as Senior Citizens. The staff are not accommodating and neither are they attentive to the client's needs. Poor customer service and no patience to understand the customer.
Good value and well located
Helpful staff, adequate room, good breakfast. Only one downside: wifi was very slow.
Easy walk to train and bus terminal and metro ,for getting around Rome by public transport. Plenty of places to eat close by . We had a pleasant stay. Reception staff helpful with information and map on arrival.
Good value for the price
The rooms are large and spacious for the price our room came with a table with chairs and a sofa as well. Some of the service staff were friendly and helpful, others less so. Doesn't have much amenities to boast of (even the toiletries given are pretty bare bones) and there are many other options that will put you within nearer walking distance from the main attractions (Roman forum, coliseum etc), however, it is really one of the largest rooms I've seen for the price. There is only one small elevator (fits 2 + luggage) servicing up to 5 floors, so if you have cumbersome luggage and the lift is crowded at that time it can be frustrating.
Nice hotel . This my second stay, close to termini
Very helpful staff, good breakfast and near to all attraction.
Rome in December
Good position near the Termini Station front desk staff were very friendly and we had a pleasant stay.
Central hotel
One night in September. Good spot. Central. Lots of good eating places nearby. Close to railway station.
Good location close to main train station Termini
A really welcoming hotel with friendly staff that were always happy to help. Clean room and just right for the 3* expectation. The only thing I didn't like was the older female manager watching over us during breakfast like naughty children it made breakfast a quick and uncomfortable experience!!
Great base for exploring
Very welcoming staff, always willing to help. Room was very clean with great air con. Breakfast was satisfactory and plentiful. Tea coffee facilities in room would be nice. overall a very happy stay
Great hotel next to metro station
Overall, a lovely hotel what with the large spacious rooms and wide range of breakfast foods to choose from in the mornings! However, the approach-ability of the staff was the only area that the hotel management should focus on.
Enjoyable stay!
Good location, clean and comfortable room. The only draw backs were we were sent to stay at a hotel 2 blocks away the first night of our stay and noise from breakfast room in the morning. If you are a light sleeper, definitely request a room not on the breakfast floor. The hotel did leave a more of apology and a bottle of wine for the inconvenience of relocating the first night. Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay.
Nice hotel excellent staff
Stayed here 3nights, 5minute walk from termini station. air con in room wasn't great, seemed to struggle to pump out cool air. handy man came to look at air con, he said it was working. ultimately it did a job, but had to keep on constant to get any benefit. room was clean, and good bathroom. the breakfast was ok, gud fruit juice machine, decent selection. overall i would stay here again, the staff made the stay so good, owner company, take note, the inadequacies of the air con and couple other things like no kettle inn room were wiped out by excellent staff. They truly do make or break a hotel. Staff were excellent, helping us with directions, even printed out emails for us, so helpful and professional.
.
All in all, the hotel is good and pleasant, staff are smiley and welcoming
Hotel is close to subway, train station and buses.
Location is excellent! Spent two nights here. Desk staff not always on the top of their game. Was told a theater show would be available but found after getting there it was closed for the week. A bit annoying that each tech device needs a separate wifi password and wifi is very weak at times.
San Marco
Although the Hotel was Clean, staff were friendly and the location was good. The first night arriving after dark we were moved to a different hotel around the corner, after a day travelling and problems finding the hotel this wasn't the experience I was expecting. The Hotel did leave a bottle of wine for us in the room the next day (corked with no corkscrew). I also requested twin beds and we had a double, the shower screen wouldn't stay fixed in place and the shower was hand held. On a whole the hotel served it's purpose as we were only there to sleep and shower and it was a very good location.
very good hotel for a 3 star
very clean room thanks for their hardworking housekeeping staff.close to termini station is really a plus factor.
location/facilities
Good location-5mins walk from Termini (rail/bus station), lots of cafes, restuarants, bars en route from Termini, staff helpfull and pleasant, bar prices as cheap as any other location. Would definately stay there again.
Recommended
All excellent except WiFi that is almost unusable, slow and weak
Would not stay here again
We did not have a good experience at the Hotel San Marco. There was always a long line for the breakfast buffet, even 1/2 hour before it was to begin. No fresh fruit and there was always something empty. The staff was indifferent, not helpful and not always courteous. We never received fresh towels or new sheets, so we question how well our room was cleaned. And after returning to our room later one night, we found the door to our room not completely closed. Luckily nothing was stolen. When we told the staff their reaction was lukewarm with no real concern for our welfare. Most of Rome is like this and we have no interest in returning. Florence was more friendly.
Good location
My single room was bigger than I had experienced in another hotel in Rome and it was extremely clean. The hotel's location was excellent, within about 10 minutes walk of the station, metro and buses. Reception staff were helpful. There are good restaurants close by. The only negative thing was the rather grumpy member of staff at breakfast.
Lovely boutique hotel
Small, boutique hotel, with very comfortable public space, including a nice lounge, and very accomodating and friendly staff. Only 5-10 minute walk from the main train station, on a quiet street. The room and bathroom have been fully and stylishly modernized and were very clean. Internet access was excellent! The only two drawbacks for me were a lack of fresh fruit at the otherwise substantial breakfast, and a rather firm mattress on the bed. The little quick pizza place on the next corner (the one with the overbearing coca-cola signs) had amazingly good slices of pizza for 1.5 to 2 Euros.
Great hotel in very convenient location
An excellent 3 star hotel. Our room was very clean and spacious, the beds very comfortable. The ensuite was outstanding with shower, jaccuzi type bath and modern fittings. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied and available from 7 to 10.30 which made a morning start relaxing. The hotel was very convenient for the bus, train and metro stations which were only 10 minutes walk away. If you were arriving at Flavio airport you could easily get to the hotel by taking the train, saving on the expense of taxi or transfer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for 3 star in Rome.
I spent 2 weeks in the hotel over
I spent 2 weeks in the hotel over the Christmas 2009 and New Year 2010. I would rather rate this hotel as functional and just above average. The lift is small and you need to wait if you are in the higher floor. The train station is within walking distance and the metro is even closer. The staff is friendly enough. Good choice in terms of location. Others are average.
It's an nice hotel, good room
It's an nice hotel, good room and breakfast was fine. Next time we will prefere a hotel closer to the centrum.
Ottimo
The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the train station Termini and subway. Very good choice of restaurants nearby. Staff was efficient and fast. Room was large. Breakfast offer a large choice of food a d beverages.
DO LADO do metrô Castro Pretorio.
ottima posizione e personale gentilissimo!
Férias em Roma
Hotel bom para ficar em Roma, indico.
ottima posizione personale gentilissimo
Hotel muito confortável, ótimo isolamento acústico. Bem localizado. Box do quarto bem apertado. Tenho 1,70m e peso 95kg e tive limitações para me mexer dentro do Box. Ótima pressão do chuveiro. Tem lugar para deixar as malas se horário de partida for após o check out. Recomendo.
Aceptable
rome is love
the location near termini station. clean condition. nice breakfast.
직원분들이 너무 친절하고 조식은 환상적입니다. 너무 만족합니다.♡♡♡
We stayed at the hotel for a week. We had a nice experience during our stay (christmas 2022). The area around the hotel was nice; the metro was only a maximum 2 minute walk, the busstops were also equally close, there were multiple good restaurants such as Resaurant Julie and Trattoria La Travernetta Pizzeria. The restaurants had good food that were fresh and cheap (good price). The check-in process was easy and fast eventhough we came before the given check-in time and we still got a room. The lady at the desk was pleasant and spoke english very well and gave many tips and reccomendations regarding transportarion, shopping and sightseeing in Rome. Our room was large with comfortable beds. We had to bring our own toiletries. The towels and bedsheets were clean. It was a quiet hotel despite it being a family-hotel. We had included breakfast (bought) during our stay and the breakfast was nice in regards to the prices in Rome. It included two coffee machines, cereal and both warm and cold food. There were cheeses, salamis, vegetables, fruits, different pastries and different jams. The staff were pleasant and helpful and always available. However here are some areas that can be improved. 1. The interior could be changed (lighter and prettier in the common areas. 2. The cleanliness could be better in common areas.
