Disappointing again!

This amazing hotel in Århus which I have used for 30y still struggling with optimal set up after new ownership has taken over! For the second time in 2025 offering me a 1/2 bottle wine when the VIP/Gold have 1 bottle on the program, the rest/closed on a Wednesday (had business meeting and lucky to find chairs/table), could not enter the hotel after midnight and had to get support from the casino next door to enter. Finally, my business partner forgot his cap and today I have spend 35 EUR (they charge!) for shipping it from Århus to Herning! On the positive side the breakfast is definitely worth going for.

Room was unique with ceiling Muriel's and double door. Breakfast room was beautiful

Very disappointed

Love the hotel which I have visited for 30y...but for the first time ever ended up in a small cabin!!!! Even with the Gold card where you normally /should have an upgrade...

Outstanding 4 night stay!

We can’t recommend the Hotel Royal more. The service was the best we’ve ever experienced in our 30+ years or traveling—and I’m not overstating that. The people were so friendly, caring, and helpful. The hotel itself was very well appointed. We loved the onsite restaurant and also found that the hotel was perfectly located in the heart of Aarhus bars, restaurants, and shopping. We will be back.

Having tried nearly all the hotels in Aarhus, this property easily ranks as number 1 for me. The history, the elegance, the size of the rooms, the free wine and coffee, the paintings, the friendliness of the staff. What an experience!

Overall, great historic hotel that has recently gone through a major restoration and upgrades. Great romantic atmosphere, beautiful architecture and decor, perfect location, close to both the harbor and the old city. Central station and diverse shopping and dining options nearby. My room was very tiny and I would prefer a more practical VIP gift than a huge bottle 🍾 of bubbly for a solo traveler. Breakfast is available and good but overpriced.

Fabulous stay

A beautiful old hotel right in town center close to museums and restaurants and bars and shopping. The staff was all lovely and helpful, the bed was super comfy, the bathroom spacious, clean and well appointed. Who could ask for anything more!

Two thumbs up

From the moment we were greeted by the extra lovely staff, it was a wonderful stay at Hotel Royal. The King’s Suite was worth the upgrade and the hotel is well situated and elegant. The Queen’s Garden is a beautiful space and our waitress was friendly and attentive.

Badezimmer unglaublich klein ohne Ablagefläche. Frühstücksauswahl klein und dem hohen Preis nicht angemessen. Ansonsten sehr schönes Hotel mit ausgezeichneter Lage

Great property. Nice location. Staff was super friendly.

The staff were very kind and accommodating. The decorum was so beautiful and impressive. I often found myself admiring the paintings and murals on the walls. Staying at Hotel Royal was a wonderful experience.

Loved it--better if they cloudl keep the bar open and not have to schedule trips to the sauna.

Gorgeous Old World Charm

Staying here was truly a treat! From the moment we entered the doors with a doorman in top hat and tails, we were transported to the charm and elegance of days gone by. Everything is beautiful from crystal chandeliers, storytelling murals, stained glass, marble to the antique elevator! Every attention is paid to detail in the beautifully appointed rooms. Lovely service. Perfect central location within walking distance of restaurants.

The “secret apartment” room on the 5th floor was pretty amazing - felt like my local Arhaus home - just much nicer!

Lovely charming classic hotel that has been beautifully maintained. Large and we’ll appointed rooms. Very clean. We had a maintenance issue that staff was not able to address. Front desk staff is efficient and pleasant but don’t expect concierge level service. Seems to be the best Hotel in city center.

This is such a beautiful old worl hotel. This is our third stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Great front desk staff.

Best hotel in Aarhus.

Excellent staff and service. Room was huge and opulent. Great breakfast. Perfect location next to the cathedral, dead centre of the city. I will be using this hotel again.

First time in 6 years my wife and I have been away with the kids while visiting Denmark. The hotel itself is really warn, and needs an upgrade, some lovely art in the stairwell mind. We were in a large corner room which on the surface was nice but smelt of sewage and was very loud with a bar directly outside. After complaining we were offered another room over looking the centre courtyard which was quiet but we had 2 single beds so not that romantic. The breakfast was uninspiring, wish we had just got it out somewhere else. All in all really not that great at all and really disappointing considering I’d hoped for a nice experience with my wife. The young guy on reception wasn’t able to give us an upgrade for some reason, I think he did his best though, he offered a bottle of champagne but it was late so we turned it down.

Minibar did Not exist. Bed had split mattresses - no double or king size. No local fruit at breakfast. We brought our own from street food market.

It's an old hotel which emphasizes its historical roots, which is very cool and interesting, but at the end of the day I value modern comforts and accomodations much more so would have preferred things like big new bed and modern features etc.

Great old hotel, which has seen grander days, but still nice. Located right next to the cathedral, and at the edge of shopping and the Latin quarter. Good breakfast, safe in room, good shower, towels, bed etc.

The hotel is beautiful and the common areas are lovely. Breakfast was the highlight: original and healthy Danish options. My room was very dark and the decor was tired, however.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay. Wonderful large room.

Very nice hotel in general

Very nice hotel but took forever to find parking. Granted, the hotel doesn’t have its own parking and due to the “music week” everything else was basically booked. Also an incredibly crappy internet connection there. Besides that the hotel was great.

It was a beautiful facility and perfectly located.

This hotel is one of the nicest hotel I stayed in. The amenities are wonderful and the stuff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are gorgeous, very quiet, and well equipped. The hotel has wonderful paintings and overall a luxurious feel. I loved the breakfast in the atrium cafe. It was simply wonderful. The hotel is centrally located so It was easy to walk to it from the train station in 12 minutes. There was no need to take a bus. I would love to come back here again.

Dejligt historisk hotel

Dejligt historisk hotel med fantastiske malerier og ekstremt god beliggenhed ved latiner kvarteret. God morgenmads buffet. Venlig staff, men lidt sjusket rengøring. Der var store støvflager i skålene med kaffe, te, sukker og fløde. Jeg havde tænkt mig at bruge motionsrummet, men afstod, jeg havde forventet bedre kvalitet.

Virkelig godt - med plads til lidt forbedring

Royal er et dejligt hotel helt centralt i Århus - alt er lige ude foran døren. Værelset var godt, personalet fantastisk, dejlig morgenmad. Eneste minus - ingen housekeeping efter den første nat, og ingen afskærmning i brusenichen, så der var vand overalt på gulvet.

Verdens klasse service, indtjekning morgenmad, værelser kort sagt 12 ud af 10 😎

Firma tur. Jeg havde flere gange brug for hjælp til en lille opgave og en sen tjek ud - og oplevede ikke andet end ja-har og smil. Fantastisk service og virkeligt smukt renoveret og hyggeligt hotel

Fantastic hotel filled with charm and history! Very pleasant staff, that make every effort to be helpful and polite. Great breakfast with quality products and very nice surroundings. Location is perfect in what I feel is the best area of Århus for shopping, eating and a night out. Top tip: Park cheap (for Århus) at NAVITAS underground parking.

Fantastisk beliggenhed, men falsk varebetegnelse, at skrive parkering. Det er et parkeringshus 1km væk.

Rigtig hyggeligt hotel, men det sejlede i forhold til overblikket. De byttede om på vores værelser, hvilket betød vi mistede vores opgradering. Der er også en personlig hilsen på værelset, men den var så ikke så personlig, når der er byttet om = forkert navn. Derudover glemte de at vi havde en gratis flaske vin med i opholdet. Sidst men ikke mindst skriver de til morgenmaden, at der er friskpresset apelsin juice, men det var så koncentrat...

En Uforglemmelig Oplevelse på Boutique Hotel Royal

Fantastisk ophold på Boutique Hotel Royal Aarhus Fra det øjeblik vi ankom, blev vi mødt af en enestående service. Den unge mand i jakkesæt bød os velkommen med varme og professionalisme, og den venlige kvindelige receptionist sikrede en glidende ind- og udtjekningsproces. Med ild i pejsen i lobbyen blev stemningen sat, og turen i Nord Europas ældste elevator op til vores penthouse-værelse på 4. sal var som at træde tilbage i historien med et moderne twist. Værelset overgik alle forventninger – stort, elegant og fyldt med detaljer, som man sjældent oplever på et hotel. Efter at have pakket ud, blev vi forkælet med en skøn wine hour, hvor vi nød et glas, inden vi begav os ud i Aarhus’ pulserende natteliv. Morgenen efter blev vi mødt af en hyggelig brunch i hotellets orangeri, hvor alt, hvad man kunne ønske sig, var på menuen. Den overdådige lysekrone med næsten 100 blade i 24 karat guld skabte en magisk atmosfære, som gjorde oplevelsen endnu mere mindeværdig. Vi kommer meget gerne igen og vil varmt anbefale Boutique Hotel Royal Aarhus til alle, der søger et ophold med charme, historie og sublim service. Stor ros til hele teamet!

Generelt fint hotel med ok værelser, perfekt beliggende til en bytur. Forlod dog hotellet med løbe næse efter at have spist morgenmad i en iskold restaurant, og det sagt af en der sjældent fryser

Imponerende Hotel Royal

Vi har rejst meget i udlandet og har boet på mange skønne og fine hoteller. Hotel Royal imponerede os ikke desto mindre på en anden skala på grund af stedets fantastiske charme og vellykkede modernisering af det oprindelige.

Et fantastisk hotel placeret i hjertet af Aarhus. Smukt indrettet, særdeles venligt og effektivt personale. Bare en virkelig god oplevelse!

Fin hotel

Smuk hotel med god beliggenhed.

Serviceminded reception. Morgenmads restauranten sejlede fuldstændig, både mht service, udbud og ikke mindst personale. Værelses type uklar på hjemmeside - 2 voks er i 140 seng !!! Bruser der plasker vand på hele badeværelse - forhæng mangler. Toilet der løber.

Dejligt ophold på Hotel Royal

Super dejligt ophold på Royal Hotel i hjertet af Aarhus. Serviceminded personale der altid stod klar til at hjælpe, og stort udvalg af mad og drikke til morgenmaden. Lille behageligt værelse, dog med en lidt træls udsigt hen til de andre hotelværelser. Men derudover, så kan Hotel Royal helt klart anbefales, på grund af den fantastiske beliggenhed med restauranter og butikker i gå afstand, hotellets stil og venligt personale!

Har været på dette hotel flere gange, og det er altid dejligt at komme tilbage 😊

Fantastisk flot hotel. Bedste beliggenhed. Meget fair pris

Alt spiller bare her. Der er kommet ekstra ladepladser, så kommer du i elbil er alt godt. Eneste lille ridse i lakken er den vandhane der har dryppet hele natten på badeværelset.

Hotel Royal er en sand perle I Aarhus. Smukt restaureret med respekt for "Den gamle dame's" historie. Imødekommende personale og service niveau fra absolut øverste hylde.

Venligt og imødekommende personale, lækkert værelse og beliggenhed. Meen en hurtig rengøring i dagtimerne kunne ønskes. Ellers helt perfekt!

Morgenmad + bar meget dyrt ift. hvad man får for pengene. Kan kun anbefale at gå ud i byen og finde noget, hvis man skal ha’ drink og spise morgenmad.

Super dejligt enormt værelse og stort badeværelse med karbad. Eneste minus var at vandtrykket var meget lave om morgenen

Samlet set et rigtig fint ophold. Morgenmaden var lækker, det blev lavet æg efter det individuelle ønske. Vores sidste nat var præget af nolge vågne timer grundet støj fra casinoet nedenunder - høj musik man kunne høre komme fra bygningen. Lidt ærgerligt da vi aldrig har været utilfredse med ophold på Royal før.

Ingen steder at parkere, så måtte gå fra DOK1. Der var en forfærdelig larm på værelset, fra en kompressor der startede mange mange i løbet af natten.
